Formatting nomad muvo 128mb(red) on mac osx 10.

I'm a bit of a computer dummy. Normally I would have given up by now, but I am completely attached to my nomad. Unfortunately the amount of space I can use is continually dwindling. I am assuming reformatting the player would fix the problem, but I can't figure out a way to do this all by myself. I found the wentnet program, but have had problems getting it to work also, and since I just am concerned with formatting I was hoping there was an easier solution. Even with my little bit of computer know-how, I figured formatting in a mac format was probably a bad idea. Thanks to anyone who can offer some suggestions and support.
Thanks again,
Kathryn

This is a screenshot with my square red made in sRGB, with sRGB as working color space, in save for web window without color management.
This orange is what I see in PS.
This is what I see with monitor color preview (what I would see with monitor compensation in PS window).
Anyone got any idea of what's the problem?
Thank you

Too late for help from creative, so I hope someone else can help.
My muvo worked fine for a few months but then wouldn't play some of my songs.
I deleted everything and tried resending it. Now it says "Insert disk into dri've E:"
I tried downloading new firmware, but it was "unable to write firmware data"
I tried the media recovery thing, but it didn't help. I installed new drivers, reinstalled the hardware
and no matter what I do, the player is still "empty" the properties screen show 0kb available formatted in RAW, even though I formatted it with muvo formatter. I can only use my laptop now and can't use creative's playcenter.(original CD broken). I tried the player on 3 different systems with the same result.
what can I do? Anyone? I'm miserable without my music...

  • NOMAD MuVo not working after formating with Wind

    Hi,
Yesterday, I formated my NOMAD MuVo player with windows (FAT32) and now it only works as a USB key. When I press on the play button the light turns to red and there's no sound.
I have neither the firware nor the drivers and when I try to install the firware it does not work (the software can't find the player that is plugged into the USB port).
    Could someone please help me?
    Thanks.

Have you followed the instructions on reloading the firmware at the download page? Often for MuVos there is a special procedure to follow (click "show details" next to the firmware download link).
Formatting as FAT32 can be a bad idea as some players don't recognise the file system.

"i tried upgrading my hard drive to a new hitachi HD"
Your havnt said what your trying to do so your posts are very confusing
with this new drive do you want to:
install the operating system on the new drive
format the drive to use it as storage
    create a standby bootable drive
    something else entirely
Your screen shots show you have an internel drive and three other drives
The drive you have erased is an external USB connected drive - youv erased and partitioned the drive and it shows it is working OK
what do you want to do now?
if the idea is to replace your original systen drive with this new drive youv bought the wrong kind of drive it should have been an internal drive
but you need to explain wahat as the drive shows it functioning correctly

If you have a Mid 2010 model: Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery. If later then see below:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you have an earlier model:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • How do I format a WD 4TB Red HD for mac using ML?

I bought a 4TB WD Red internal drive and placed it into a OWC enclosure with firewire 800 ports to use as storage for my 2011 Macbook Pro.  I've read about and tried various ways to format the drive for Mac.  WD and Apple online support/forum pages tell me to partition the drive as 1 using Apple Partition Map.  Doing that, I was able to format the drive...it seemed until I tried to copy files.  It only allowed me to copy certain files.  For instance, it wouldn't allow me to copy over any .wav files.  So basically, I am asking how can I reformat the drive properly?  WD page states that if an error occurs its not the drive but the operating system.  They suggest turning off wi-fi, security, etc. to prevent the error.  But it just isn't working.  Anybody formatted a 4TB WD RED as an external for/with Mountain Lion?  I think the idea of creating  a cheaper super reliable external drive myself was naive, maybe...

  • How do I format Windows hard drive to Mac OSX?

I have a 120gig hard drive that was just pulled from a Windows XP PC that I'd like to install in my G4. It does not allow me to install Mac OSX right from the first step from booting with a MacOSX install CD. It gives me an alert that says "The software cannot be installed in this computer" then asks me to Restart or Start Up Disk. Start Up Disk does not activate. Thanks for your help.

You can use FireWire Target Disk Mode on the iMac to mount the iMac's hard drive on the iBook's desktop. Then use the iBook to do the installation.

Note: If the iBook is currently using that same Mac OS X license, installing it on another Mac concurrently is not legal.

  • No more mac OSX found

    Hi,
I tried to install windows XP on my imac 20" with bootcamp. First I had lots of troubles, with an endless loop in the windows install. After trying 6 times, my XP finally wanted to install properly.
Now, after this install, my mac OSX seems te be gone. Could it be possible that i have formatted the mac-drive in my attempt to install windows?
I tried to reinstall my macOSX by restarting with the install dvd, but i don't seem te get him to respond to that. He always starts windows, over and over.
Is there something i can do to fix this. Loss of data is no issue, I don't care about that, I just want my iMac to work on Leopard again.
    Someone?

There is no specific category for BootCamp, but I would still send feedback.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ under Mac OS X.
You aren't the first to see this happen.
There should have been a FAT partition of "BOOTCAMP" there. I think, never installed or used XP, only Vista.
As in all matters of systems, backup first.
One question I have, 5GB is minimum, and the most common "follow-up" is "how can I increase the size of my Windows partition."
Under Vista 64-bit Ultimate, it needs 20GB plus room for 1.5x physical memory for page swap file, plus 12-15GB for the SP1 update when it is available. And then room for programs, files, downloads, temp space. 32-bit is less, as would other versions differ.
If I had to have a hard and fast rule, it would be 40-50GB for Vista. XP has a much smaller footprint, but I think 10-15GB would be better. And make sure that "C:" or "Bootcamp" is the size you want.
What happened to others is they actually used the 128MB EFI partition that Macs use and create, but hidden normally, and which XP doesn't "know about" or understand, and part of the GUID partition scheme. And that is where XP tried to install, is my best guess.

Is there anyway to fix this?
It seems my . When I press the Play button nothing happens, no matter how fresh the batteries are. I plugged it into the USB port on my computer and nothing happened for a long time. Then suddenly the light went red and it was recognized by the computer (well. . . sort of). I tried to open it and it showed that it was empty (it had songs on it earlier). I thought I'd reformat it, but when I tried File/Format, it did not work, nothing happened. There definitely seems to be some sort of IO error.
Is there anyway to reset this? To wipe it and recover?
I tried holding down the play button as I plugged it into the USB port, but that didn't do anything. And now it seems that the computer never sees it (and the red light on the Muvo never comes on).
I must say, for the price I paid for it, I certainly expected it to last much longer than this. I have an old 2G iPod that is still going strong that I got before the Muvo.
    Is there any hope?

    Tlongacre,
Have you tried updating the firmware on your MuVo yet? If not follow these steps to get the firmware updated and see if the player starts working again.
) Go to www.nomadworld.com and select downloads/drivers. On the next page select your OS and then Nomad MuVo. Click "Get Files"
    2) Unplug the MuVo and Download and Run the Nomad MuVo Driver Update. Once the driver is installed, plug in the MuVo and let Windows detect and install new hardware.
    3) Unplug the MuVo and plug it back in while holding down the play/pause button for 0 seconds. If Windows finds new hardware then let it automatically install it. Then download and run the Nomad MuVo Firmware Update located here: http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/firmware/wma-muvo.asp?nProdID=437&sProd=NOMAD%20MuVo
    4) If it says that the data area is not initialized at any time press the ok button. Put a checkmark in the Format Data Area Button and then press start.
    5) When it is finished press close and unplug the MuVo.
Test the player and see if it starts working again.

I have a 3 year old MacBook Pro with MAC OSX 10.6.8, iPhoto ’09 version 8.1.2 and have downloaded two software programs: one is Aperture 3.2 and the other is Photoshop Elements 9 (which I got from a friend who didn’t need it).
I am totally happy with the way iPhoto organizes my photos and how I can work with iMovie to create slide shows with music from iTunes, etc.
I have been shooting mostly high resolution jpegs and I continue to learn more and more about photography, post processing etc. I realize that the small adjustments I can make in iPhoto are good, and are adequate most of the time. However, a have started to experiment with shooting RAW images and would like to go the next step, ie. post processing.I am totally technically challenged and need SIMPLE, INTUITIVE programs and am certainly NOT anywhere ready for Photoshop CS whatever!
After having these programs sit on my computer, I decided to try to see if I could figure them out. When I opened Aperture, this is what first comes up.
    “Welcome to Aperture 3.2
Your library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of Aperture. Once upgraded, you will not be able to use this library with previous versions of Aperture.
Upgrading a library from previous versions of Aperture 3 generally takes a few minutes or less, though larger libraries will take longer. After that, Aperture 3.2 will upgrade your library's thumbnails, but you can use the application during that time.
Tip: To open a different library, quit Aperture and hold the Option key down while starting Aperture
    Current Library Location:
    Jadzia (home)   -----Pictures------Aperture Library
                                                      QUIT             UPGRADE”
I have heard horror stories  about moving your entire library to Aperture, ending up with 2 libraries, etc. etc. hence my previous reluctance in attempting Aperture. In addition, many of my photography friends are saying: Go with Lightroom 3.....you’ll love it!
So here is my dilemma.  I don’t want to mess around with my iPhoto library. All I want to be able to do, is to isolate a few photos, export them to Aperture, Elements, and work on them there, then bring them back into iPhoto.
Can I do this? Should I forget about Aperture and Elements and look at purchasing yet another program like Lightroom?

Export those few photos via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original to the Desktop.  Then import them into the Aperture library. That would keep one copy in your iPhoto library and another in your Aperture library to edit, etc.
You can use Photoshop Elements 9 from within iPhoto as your editor of choice. However, if you edit a raw file in iPhoto with PSE9 the resulting edited version must be saved outside the iPhoto Library and imported back in as a new file.  For editing jpegs just do a Save (not a Save As) and it all will be kept within iPhoto.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • How do I get Windows's off my MacBook and Mac osx back on?

I purchased a MacBook (A1181) off eBay "for parts" but the only thing it needed was a new battery. I turned it on and everything worked fine, only problem is that it's running Windows 7 professional and is password protected. When I contacted the eBay seller they said the Mac was supposed to be wiped clean and they could not help me because it was sold "for parts." I cannot log in to wipe and I don't have any original discs or any Mac osx discs. I want windows off and a fresh copy or snow leopard on my MacBook. PLEASE HELP

You can use a Snow Leopard retail install disk to erase the drive and install 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window.
Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. You should see your hard drive in the left hand column along with your other drives. Click on the drive and select the Erase tab. Set the format value to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click the Erase button. After that has finished select the Partition tab. Type in a Name for your hard drive and select how many partitions you want from the Volume Scheme. The usual setting is one partition. Click on the Options button after you've selected a partition to make sure it's set for GUID. Then click the Apply button and after the Partitioning is done quit Disk Utility.
You can now follow the instructions on the install screen

  • MAC OSX 10.9.4 - RD Version 8.0.7 (build 24875) and Excel 2010

On a mac osx 10.9.4, running MS remote Desktop version 8.0.7 (24875)
When in an excel spreadsheet, if I open the Format Cells window and click on the Fill tab, it crashes my RD Session every time.
I originally tested under 8.0.6 (24875) and it worked fine.  The problem is compounded because when you attempt to log back in the Fill tab is still on the screen and it crashes again so the machine becomes unavailable for remote connections unless
