Formatting prompts in 11g

Hi, I'm having a horrible time getting prompts to even be legible in 11g. No matter what I do, I can't get spacing to look decent.
1. I'm trying to create a prompt section that goes down the left side of the page. I have a prompt for year, one for month, another for business unit, and another for a category. Obviously with it being on left side of page, I want it to be only one "column" wide. But then I don't see any way to give any visual spacing between prompts that belong together (month and year), and the others that don't (business unit, category). Is my only option, when doing prompts down the side of a page, to just list the individual prompts one after the other with no other spacing?
2. If I try to flip, and make the prompt section go across the top of the page, then I am able to use "new column" to split the individual controls into groups. But instead of nicely spacing the controls across the entire page, it "center" aligns them - with so little space between them there is no visual separation at all.
I know I could create multiple prompts, and use separate sections to space them the way I want...but then there is a different "apply" button for each, which makes no sense.
Any ideas? Does anyone have a simple screenshot of a decenty arranged prompt section in 11g, and how you did it?
Thanks,
Scott

Hi,
1) You can better to create one dashboard prompt (keep it Year,Month,BU and Catagory) then put it dashboard section (or)
dashboard objects ---> keep it one columns in that page-->add 4 sections and keep it Year,Month,BU and Catagory each section finally set section as "Horizontally view" then each and every section u can set the fromating option as left/right view then it should remove the spacing b/w each propmt.(no sense to keep multiple prompt so go with 1st)
2) For this case u need to play aroundm for the page --> format option here u r set the alignment centre/left/right and then put padding (left,right,top,bottom) and assign some width then you can remove the space.
Thanks

  • System-Wide Formatting not applied to Dashboard Column Prompt in 11g

    In OBIEE 11g, I have a dashboard column prompt with a date column. I use this column in the analysis and have made the column properties (formatting) a system-wide default for that column.
    When I use the column in a dashboard column prompt, it does not show this formatting.
    Any ideas why it might not work?

    So from what I understand about your question, the system wide default data format you have set for the date column is not following the same format when you use it as a dashboard column prompt. The system wide format only applies for analysis purposes and not for prompts in 11g.

  • What file format Oracle Database 11g can spool data w chinese characters?

    Hi,
    I have a batch job that spools data into a text file for further processing but now I have data that contains chinese characters.
    From what I know text file (.txt) cannot support chinese characters.
    Anyone has any idea what file format Oracle Database 11g can spool data with chinese characters?
    Thank you!
    Regards,
    Fel

    I'm not sure this can work with SQL*Plus in character mode on Windows DOS mode. But this should work with SQL Developer: see Re: How to display Chinese characters in Oracle?
    I can also make this work with Linux:
    $ locale
    LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8
    LC_CTYPE="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_NUMERIC="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_TIME="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_COLLATE="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_MONETARY="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_MESSAGES="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_PAPER="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_NAME="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_ADDRESS="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_TELEPHONE="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_MEASUREMENT="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="fr_FR.UTF-8"
    LC_ALL=
    $ cat chinese.sql
    cat tchinese.sql
    set echo on
    spool tchinese.log
    select * from v$version;
    select unistr('\8349') from dual;

  • Not able to save date column with custom date format. in OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
    I have migrated one report from OBIEE 10g to 11g. There is a date column with customized date format(i.e. Default format is 'dd-MMM-yyyy' and I have used 'MMM-yyyy').
    But when I use this custom format and try to save the report in 11g its giving this below error.
    ''Catalog object privilege validation failed for user to path /shared/ALM BI/Finacial Results/History Income Statement Detail.
    You do not currently have sufficient privileges to save a report or dashboard page that contains HTML markup.
    This HTML might be present in column headings, table headings, text views, narrative views, the print header,

  • Date format in OBIEE 11g is changed.

    Hi,
    we have installed 11.1.1.5 on linux x86-64bit machine. after that we upgraded the OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 rpd and catalog to OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
    everything was working fine at this stage.
    After that we did some development in 10g ... and again upgraded the rpd and catalog to 11.1.1.5 using upgrade assistant.
    but after that the date format in all the date prompts on the dashboards is changed to MM/dd/YYYY.
    How to change it back to dd/MM/YYYY?

    Hi Visal,
    Please award points it is useful the above answer.
    2. After installation the date format default : DD-MM-YYYY.
    I am not sure, I think you need install patch file in this version on your server or you need to change ALTER SESSION set NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'DD/MM/YYYY'.
    I though this is bug in server version.
    What server its showing this format means(Unix,Linux,AIX)?
    Award points it is useful.
    Thanks,

  • Tutorials in SWF output format prompted "Do you trust this content to connect to the Internet?" when opening another SWF file

    Please help.
    I have a tutorial with in the output format of SWF and HTM. I have click boxes that On Success will open another tutorial (SWF file). When I click on the click box, I get prompted “Do you trust this content to connect to the Internet?” by the Adobe Flash Player. I can click “Yes” and continue, however I don’t want the user to get prompted for every click box with this action (there is one for every tutorial and navigation buttons to each tutorial). I also think that SCORM can't handle the prompt, because when I run the tutorial from the LMS the click boxes do not work at all.
    I have tried selecting “Always allow” in the Global Security Settings panel as per the instruction on this website: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    I wanted to add on a question to this posting.... I believe Rod's instructions must be followed on a per-PC basis, correct? Is there any way to disable this globally when/after I publish the files rather than telling 1000 users across the globe that they have to change their security settings? I don't think so from the article (very thorough) but just hoping there's something I can do?!
    Thank you!

  • Default Date Format in ADF 11g RC

    Dear All,
    I am searching for a possibility to set a default date format pattern ("yyyy-MMM-dd") in an ADF 11g RC application.
    I know that I can set this format in every entity/view object's attributes. But I am looking for a central way.
    I already tried to override the javax.faces.convert.DateTimeConverter and configured it in the faces-config.xml.
    But without success.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    in another post of yours I pointed you to the trinidad-config.xml file - so you may want to have a look there. Also maybe property sets can give you a helping hand

  • Row limit in Dashboard Prompts - OBIEE 11g?

    Hi,
    In dashboard prompts values are shown as sets of 256 and I know it can be customizable but my question is..."Is there any limit on records to extract as we have it in Analysis"? If yes, what is the max limit and where to configure this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Nagireddy, thanks for your reply.
    Is there any limit of values to extract in Dashboard prompt? i.e. when you use drop down list as Dashboard prompt, is there any limit of values to extract from database?
    In my local environment (instanceconfig.xml), there is limit of Rows to View and Download set to 20K, however I did not see anything related to the Dashboard Prompt.

  • Use a delivers agent on a report with "Is Prompted" column, 11g

    Hi all,
    I have a report with is prompted filter on a column. And the report are working fine.
    But now the customer have asked me to set up a deliver agent on the report. And when the agent is running the report it is not working.
    The column that is set to "is prompted" has a expression in business layer and in that expression we are using a session variable. If I changes "is prompted" to a static filter or no filter the agent works fine. I'm getting this error when the agent tries to run the report:

    Hi Linus,
    Where you able to solve this issue or do you have additional findings to your issue? I'm facing a similar problem: a session variable has no value defined when running from the agent.
    Please let me know,

  • Date Format in Oracle 11g XE

    Hello everyone,
    I have installed Oracle11XE and noticed that it has the following date format:
          SQL> SHOW PARAMETER NLS_DATE_FORMAT
          NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
          nls_date_format                      string      RR-MM-DD
    I know that I can change the format for the session, like this:
         alter session set nls_date_format = 'DD-MON-YY';
    I also know that to change the system parameter I need to do the following:
         alter system set nls_date_format = 'DD-MON-YY' scope=spfile;
         then restart the database.
    However, after I do the latter, the date format is still:
         SQL> select sysdate from dual;
         SYSDATE

    Could someone tell me why this is happening and correct this?..

  • Can I use "dvt" function for customizing the chart format in OBIEE 11g?

    Hi,
    ".pcxml" file cannot be found in OBIEE11g. However, can I use "dvt" function for customization? If yes, how?
    Reference for dvt function:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/apirefs.1111/e12418/tagdoc/dvt_pieGraph.html

    Hello,
    I know it's possible, because i already found some blogs about changing the chart colors and turning off the animated graphs.
    <Graph visualEffects="NONE" animationDuration="0">
    But we want to alter more chart options, like make a bar chart default stacked. In 10G this was possible. I think this is also
    possible in 11G through the dvt-graph-skin.xml, but what i want to know is, is there a document that explains which tags you could use in this file.
    It would be great to get some help on this.

  • Hierarchy Prompt In 11g

    How can I pass values from Hierarchy prompt to report?
    If I do not want to use Hierarchy in report.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    For your requirement, you need to go for Selection steps pane in the analysis. Click on steps link and then add the hierarchy column that you want to use and expand the hierarchy to the lowest level. Now select all these and all the attributes will now appear in the other side.
    If you dont expand the hierarchy to the lowest level, then only the top values will be appeared in your selection at prompt.
    Also make sure to check the override option, this helps in filtering the values.
    Cheers,
    Obul
