Formatting voice recordings on Garageband for iTunes playlists

When I record a short voice recording, then drag/drop it into iTunes, I lose any voice formatting (ie, you hear my original plain voice with no embellishment).  How do I keep my saved formatting?

a GB project is not an audio file

use the Share menu instead of dropping the project file into iTunes

  • Necessary Idea for iTunes: Playlist Profiles

If Apple is going to commit to the 10 gig or less standard for iPods and iPhones, then I strongly believe they need to add an enhancement to syncing music devices to iTunes which currently does not exist: Playlist Profiles. For example, I have a 2 gig iPod Nano. I know, I'm cheap - I don't have a 30 or 60 gig which just automatically syncs my whole music collection. I figure I can put about 500 songs on there. Now let's just face it - 500 songs... it's a lot, but there's going to be times when my tastes will change but I won't want to spend a lot of time swapping around playlists and trying to keep track of the best collections without "going over" and without there being left over space.
SO - What would be really great is if you could save sync profiles - Not just a gym playlist, but a gym profile. Not just a study playlist, but a study profile. Not just a work playlist, but a work profile. So that you could literally swap out all the playlists with new ones, but keep the old synced playlists 'remembered' - it could even be so detailed so that on Mondays or during work hours it would sync to a certain profile, on Saturdays or during evening ours it would automatically sync to a different profile.
I know that this wouldn't be to difficult a thing to do; the only serious problem that I can think of is that it would definitely encourage a lot more rewriting of the flash drives than perhaps they are designed for, but I'm sure that's not a huge deal.
This addition to iTunes will be especially important if Apple decides to really stick with an under 10 gig format for a significant portion of its devices, i.e. Nanos, Shuffles, and iPhones, as (I would think) most people's iTunes collections tend to stray between 8 and 20 gigs, and therefore the majority of iPod users who don't have regular iPods are consistently unable to sync their entire music collection.

Hello. If you have a good suggestion for iTunes, don't post it here where developers are unlikely to see it. Instead, go to the Mac OS X tab above and then Feedback and then send your suggestion about iTunes. There's nothing we fellow users can do to help you here with your suggestion.

  • Multiple page PDF's for iTunes playlists

In the past I've been able to create multiple page PDF's of playlists, but for some reason in iTunes 10.1 it will only show me the first page. At the bottom of that page it'll say page 1 of 10, but the other 9 pages do not appear in the sidebar. I also know it's not generating multiple pages because when I save it to the desktop it appears instantly instead of taking a few seconds to process many pages.
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks!

When you save a PDF out of Illustrator and turn Illustrator editability on, what do you think Illustrator should do? It can only save content in its native format. For version CC, this is Illustrator CC. Illustrator CS6 doesn't know CC, so can't open it. Instead it opens the PDF part of the file, which happens to be mutliple pages.
If you need to establish this kind of workflow, you need to make sure, everyone uses the same version.
Understanding Illustrator's file formats is crucial:

  • How do I setup itunes playlists to listen over my Sonos system?

How do I setup itunes playlists to listen over my Sonos system?

Drag the items in the playlist to a flash drive open in Finder.  It will copy the files to the drive.  The files will likely then play by file name order.  If you want it more structured you will have to read the documentation for your cars player on creating a playlist as this varies by each model player.  Alternatively you can manually rename the files so they are alphabetically ordered in the desired order (usually adding a number to the start of the file name [not the track name in iTunes but the file name in Finder] works best).
Not all players will play AAC format files as is standard for iTunes Store music.  If you encounter this issue you will have to convert the files to mp3.

  • I have voice recordings I want to download or transfer to my computer, how?

I want to save my recent voice recordings on my computer, itunes, somewhere.
If I select sync all music it says it will delete everything on my phone and replace with what's on the itunes... yikes, I'd just simply like to add my recent recordings to my existing voice memos playlist and library.

As tgarra suggests, place a √ next to Include voice memos.
    Connect your phone (obviously).
In iTunes, select your phone in the Source Panel (on Left),
then select the Music tab at the top of the iTunes pane.
    Good luck, Tom

  • Creating an xml file from a playlist - message for iTunes staff

When I created an xml file from a playlist I noticed that in the xml file the track name was merged with the artist name in this manner "I want you - Bob Dylan".
That was hardly a problem as I could easily correct this in the FileMaker Pro environment.
But subsequently I found out, that within iTunes the track name was similarly changed to the same format. Apparently this happened when iTunes created the xml file and inadvertently also changed the track name within iTunes.
It can easily be corrected by entering File/Info, but I had over 10.000 songs in that list and it will take a lot of time. I have to do this, as I created earlier for each song a file path in FileMaker Pro, which are unrecognizable now.
Could you please correct the xml file creating procedure?

I must confess that I can't reproduce this result myself anymore.
I created the xml file in iTunes via File/Library/Export Playlist/xml structure (I translate the Dutch terms loosely) and subsequently I imported the xml file into a Filemaker Pro via File/Import/xml.
The xsl style sheet looks ok.
It looks like a freak of nature.
Still I have the evidence in my iTunes playlist, where I have another 9000 clicks to go to repair the damage.
Let's forget about it, until it happens again.
    Thanks for your time.

    Thanks, Mellanni x

If it will not connect to your computer, and it will not connect to the Internet, either via WiFi or cellular data, then there is no practical way to extract the information. There are no magic words that will fix the broken hardware.
You could try a 3rd party data recovery service, but doing so will forfeit your right to a discounted out of warranty replacement. Only you can decide it it's worth that.

  • Export iTunes Playlist to WPL format?

I need to export my iTunes playlists to WMP format (.wpl files). Apparently, iTunes playlists are not DLNA/UPnP-compliant so they are not visible on Media Servers. I have a library of ~4000 songs and all songs, albums, artists and genres are visible but the Playlists folder is empty. Any tool known to perform this conversion would be greatly appreciated.
    Message was edited by: hb.240z

Sorry for the very long delay, but due to a number of reasons I have only recently been able to revisit this issue.
I am pleased to report the iTunesExport tool worked with complete success. I exported about a dozen playlists to .m3u format, and these and their contents are now visible and playable to both my DLNA clients (Denon & Pioneer A/V receivers). One key to the export process was to override the default setting from absolute to relative pathnames for all music files in the playlists (in my case I simply left the path blank).
Also perhaps of note is I put all the new playlist files in a folder named "Playlists" in my Music folder, although I don't think the actual name of the folder matters as long as it is in whatever folder you have defined as your Media Folder on your Media Server.

  • When I try to sync my iPhone 4 with iTunes on my comp it tells me the song could not be found. So I'll manually find and ID it for iTunes. It asks me if it can find the rest but never can. Now it can't even sync playlists because songs can't be found.

Hi guys. When I try to sync my iPhone 4 to my iTunes on my computer it tells me that it can't find the files. So I'll manual dint he song and identify it for iTunes. iTunes will then ask me if it am identify the rest for me but it never can. Playlists on my phone have disappeared because I can no longer sync the songs because iTunes can't find them. This all started when I put ringtones from iTunes onto my phone. Maybe it somehow deleted the music library because I get is exclamation marks by all the songs which no longer play ( which is most of them)
Please help me this is so frustrating!!

    Hello Courtney,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when syncing your music to your iPhone.  It sounds like iTunes is not able to locate the original file for the song to transfer it to your device.  I recommend reviewing the following articles to locate you music files on your computer:

  • Is there any way that I can have songs in an iTunes Playlist without having the songs play in my regular music list.  For instance: can I have a Playlist of Christmas songs without having them play in the routine shuffle of my music library?  Thanks -Rog

Select the songs, press CTRL+I to Get Info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes.
If you want to the hide the songs from your main music view you could consider changing the media kind to audiobooks or podcasts if you don't mind the side effect of them showing up there instead.

  • How can I display total playlist size in iTunes 11.  It used to be visible for each playlist or CD, but I can't find it now.

How can I display total playlist size in iTunes 11.  It used to be visible for each playlist or CD, but I can't find it now.

The Friend: Thanks from me too for that super simple fix!! I feel kinda stupid for not knowing that.
    Too bad Apple didn't:
Give it a more intuitive name than "Status Bar"... "status" is what is shown at the top of the window along with the Artist and Song Title, e.g.; how far into the song/podcast/video I've played and how much is left,
Put the keyboard commands in a more prominent place in their release notes when version 11 came out so we could more easily find the information they decided to hide in this attempt to make the desktop less cluttered and
Allow us the option of displaying the data size along with the song count and duration just beneath the playllist title. The status bar is a redundant listing of information except for the data size!  Poorly conceived!
Perhaps Apple will remedy this in a future release. For those of us who like to burn our playlists to CD, DVD and even a thumb drive this information is essential. WIthout it, we're left to guess whether a given playlist will fit on our target device.
    Thank you!

It appears to be a bug with the current build. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next release.
