.formatting x-axis of a graph to be categorical - labelled with a string?

I am looking for an elegant way of formatting the x-axis on a 2D graph to be a series of string labels representing a range of data.
Any help would be appreciated!  Thank-you

Hi PA_UW,
Unfortunately,  this is not directly possible, that is, you cannot do it with LabVIEW Graphs and Charts.  I apologize for the inconvenience.  This is an idea on our idea exchange.  If you feel this functionality should be added, please voice your opinion.  Thanks!

  • Really odd y axis and scatter graph HEEEEELLLLPPP

Ok so whenever I try to plot a graph of certain data, it always comes up with the same graph which is not the one I am trying to plot!!! There are also two 2s on the y axis this is reeeaaaallly anoying help would be much appretiated!
I would post a screen shot if i could

The multiple 2's are probably due to the format of the numbers on chart and the number of grid lines you have. The actual numbers are probably something like 1.5 and 2.25, which are both being rounded to 2 for display on the chart. If you format the axis so it displays more decimals, you'll see the difference between the two 2's.
Are you sure you are following the correct steps in making a chart? While the multiple 2's makes sense, the problem about it always creating the same chart does not.

  • Axis in Pie Graph

    Hi,
Can we show the X-Axis and Y-Axis for a Pie-Graph??
I am able to display the Pie-Graph for a given combination through VO but in my display i am not able to see the X-Axis and Y-Axis lines.
only the graph is getting displayed without the lines.
I have tried by setting in property inspector the following properties to true.
"Data Axis Scale From Zero" and "Display Data Markers" both to true
But still i am not able to see the lines in my screen.
Can i get some help from anyone regarding this???
    Thanks in advance

No, there is no provision of showing x and y axis in pie graph. I am still not able to understand how do you want to incorporate and map date on x,y axis along with a pie graph in between. All you can do is to plot a bar graph separately to show the data along x, y axis.

  • Is there a way to link the x-axis of multiple graphs in a report? Using DIAdem 12.0

Is there a way to link the x-axis of multiple graphs in a report?  Using DIAdem 12.0

What  I am after is this...  If I have multiple 2D axis systems in a report with each y axis showing different channels of a particular data file and with each x axis being the time stamp of that data file, rather than changing the x axis values of each 2D axis system to zoom in on a time slice, I'd like to change only one and have all the others match.  So I suppose yes, I want each of the multiple 2D axis systems to have the same x axis, but I want unique 2D axis systems, not one system with multiple y axis or "n systems".  I'm hesitant to post a sample report as this is a public forum.  Thank you.

  • Graph Data does not align with the axis label

    Hi,

(in the using parseFunction property example) when you hover on the

    Hi All
    Thanks for looking into it.
Actually we have just added a field GJAHR (was missing in the extractor) so that it takes data accoring to fiscal yr. Actually we had a issue that the Business area for a particular vendor 'X' and doc no 'Y' was showing incorrectly (similar to that of yr 2008) but it changed this yr and the extractor was still picking Business Area for yr 2008.
So we added GJAHR field so that it takes correct Business Area. we have checked in R/3 Extractor checker and it shows correctly.
But that change has not reflected in BW yet even after replicating datasource.
I hope i have made you all understand the situation.
    Thanks for your help

  • Problem Axis Image on Graph

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with displaying an axis on a graph. The graph is composed of layered panes and I need to display a mathematical formula on one of the axis. This was previously done using an image...
A product evolution requires the modification of the fonts used when printing the graphs, obviously this will not be compatible with a static image. Does anyone have any ideas on how do display the text highlighted in the image shown, in a manner that allows for the changing of fonts in a dynamic manner?

    Thanks in advance,

That is actually rather simple: you use animation techniques, but rather than using an animation loop to change on a set interval, you change as you are ready to show your new screen. You do this with a repaint() request.
I usually like to implement this by doing my rendering to a BufferedImage, and then a paint override in my display object.
    public void paintComponent(Graphics g){
      g.super();
g.drawImage(bi, 0, 0, this); //bi is a instance scoped BufferedImage that I use for rendering.
    }

  • Axis labels with clusters of stacked columns

I've created a ColumnChart that contains clusters of stacked columns.  Each of the 6 clusters contains 3 stacked columns.
The ColumnChart creates the chart nicely (thanks to the dataFunction property), but the xAxis only displays the cluster label (so, "Cluster 1", or "Cluster 2", etc.).  That means the only way to tell which data set you're looking at, you have to mouse over the data to get the datatip to show up.
Using the labelFunction of the Category axis lets me output each of the dataset names along with the cluster set name, but I'm unable to center the dataset names below their respective datasets because the labelFunction just returns a single string for the cluster (as oppose to a string for each of the stacked columns within the cluster).
Is there a way to get an xAxis label for each of the stacked bars?  I've included the sample code below.  The labelFunction has been removed from this sample code because it wasn't working as I had hoped.

    Hi id,
Thank you for your response. I hope you are doing well.
There is an example in the LabVIEW Example Finder (Help>>Find Examples..). It is titled, Stacked Bar Graph. You can search for it if you switch tabs in the Example Finder window. This should help you create a stacked bar graph. To help you with your veritcal axis labels, here is a knowledge base link that details the process:
How Can I Customize the X-Axis Labels On My LabVIEW Graph/Chart So They Appear Vertically?

We use a doc template to create a purchased part spec document and then save them as pdf formatted files.  These part spec documents are also appended with the datasheets for these purchased parts.  When we want to update/revise the document, is there a method, using Acrobat, to make those updates to the pdf, or must we go back to the doc template and basically generate a new document?
Also, our resulting pdf documents aren't searchable.  How can we generate pdf documents that are searchable?  I may want to search for a part value or name within the body of these pdf documents, but currently can't do that...very inconvenient.
    Can you assist?

Not totally sure about the search issue. A lot depends on how you created the PDF and what is in the datasheets you attached (like are they graphics?). The doc portion should be searchable as long as you used print to the Adobe PDF printer or PDF Maker. For your use, it may be that the print is adequate. However, the result should be searchable (unless maybe you had a form with filled in fields and created the PDF with PDF Maker. I think the form data may be retained in form fields and the fields are not searchable. In that case, a print might be a better procedure. (it would help to know the versions of WORD and Acrobat as well as the exact process you used to create the PDF.)
If the appended data sheets do not change, then you might try opening the original PDF and then using Replace Pages to replace the file created from the DOC file.

When I try to synchronise my calendar it all goes wrong when I have recurring appointments which I enter on Outlook. These are in the format ' first Tuesday of each month' as I play Bridge with different partners on different days each month so it is NOT every 4 weeks necessarily, it depends on the month.  These get lost on synchronisation or sometimes end up on a totally different day/date.  What can I do as it is very annoying.
Also it altered some theatre dates where I had entered both date and name of play - the name of the play vanished when I synchronised not just on i-pad but it deleted the info from Outlook as well.

Others have the same complaint.  iCal on the iPad can do recurring appointments, but not in the format you want (First Tuesday of every Month).  It will do the same DATE each month (e.g, the 25th of each month), but for now it does not do a particular DAY of each month.

  • How to display no. of seconds in HH:MM:SS format on Y-Axis in Line Graph

    Hi All,
I have two columns as No. of Seconds and Date.
I want to create a Line Graph with Date on Horizontal Axis (X - Axis) and, on Vertical Axis (Y - Axis) I want to represent the No. of Seconds as HH:MM:SS format.
For example, If the DB returns No. of Seconds as 93, I want to get it on Vertical Axis as 00:01:33 (00 hours, 01 Minute, 33 seconds), If it is 145 seconds , I want to get it as 00:02:25....etc.
Can anyone please help me on this ?

Srini VEERAVALLI I already used this code and I'm getting HH:MM:SS format in Table View, but my requirement is I need to represent the HH:MM:SS format on Vertical Axis in Graph View. In Graph View by default it's considering No. of Seconds only.....

  • Formatting an axis in SQL Server Reporting Services

    Hi
I have a graph that shows prices on one side and I need to format them as follows
    =Floor(Fields!PRICE.Value) & " " & Round((32 * (Fields!PRICE.Value - Floor(Fields!PRICE.Value))),3)

any idea how I can format the secondary Y axis based on the above formula ?
    thanks
    eddie
    eddy.a

    Hi eddie,
If we want to format the values display on the series in the chart, we can right-click the series to select “Show Data Labels” option. Then right-click the label to type the expression you post in the Label data of Series Label Properties.
If we want to format the values display on the axis, we can use a table control to simulate the Axis labels to work around this issue. For more details, please refer to the steps below:
Drag a table to design surface, then delete the table header and last two columns.
Insert the expression as below to the cell:
    =Floor(Fields!PRICE.Value) & " " & Round((32 * (Fields!PRICE.Value - Floor(Fields!PRICE.Value))),3)
Set HideLabels property of Y Axis to True, then adjust the table position so that it aligns to the Y Axis of chart.
    Hope this helps.
