Forms 10.1.2.3 and Oracle RDBMS 11g R2

We are about to upgrade our databases from Oracle 10.2 to 11.2 does anyone know of any issues with running Forms 10.1.2.3 with an Oracle 11g R2 database?
Is there a Forms to database certification matrix available, I couldn't seem to find anything other than the client certification matrix?

Hi,
There shouldn't be much of a problem when you actually upgrade. The only thing is , with 11.x DB there is case sensitive username/password, this you can get through by setting
FORMS_USERNAME_CASESENSITIVE=true in Default.env file

  • Slow Problems with Oracle Forms 10g and Oracle Database 11g

Hi, I wonder if there is a compatibility problem between Version 10.1.2.0.2 32 Oracle Forms and Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production. This is because my application runs correctly on a version of Oracle Database 10g, and when we migrated the database to an Oracle Database 11g, slowness problems came out.
    Thanks.

We have the same issue happening with our custom forms and with some of the standard forms in EBSO. So far we have found that the form invoking a view causes ridiculous slowness in opening the form (40 mins). Using a table access has shortened the open time significantly. At this time Oracle DBAs at OOD have no clear idea why it is happening.
we are on 11.1 database with 11.5 EBSO

  • Oracle Forms 9i and Oracle RDBMS 8

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me whether Oracle Forms 9i will work against an Oracle 8 database?
We have an older version of Oracle Forms (Oracle Developer 6i) that I could also try against Oracle 8 but I'm concerned about conflicts with on the client-side with Oracle Enterprise Manager 9i and Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g (I have these installed already).
My organization does NOT intend to upgrade the Oracle 8 production database to a newer release. And yes, we have Oracle 9i and 10g RDMBS in production as well.
    Thanks.

I, too, am a little confused. I will be loading Oracle 9i DB Personal Edition on to a Windows XP Professional, Pentium IV. I read in forums that 9i Personal is certified for this particular system whereas 6i Personal Edition is not. Is Forms and Reports 6i certified for XP Professional? If so, can I run 6i w/ the 9i Personal Edition? I am considering purchasing Oracle 9i Developer Suite, but only if it is certified for XP Pro and 6i isn't.
    Please advise.

  • Connection between oracle forms10g on XP and oracle db 11g on WINDOWS 7

    Hello,
I am trying to connect forms 10g R2 to oracle 11g.
My forms is on windows XP inside VMware while my db is on windows 7 64 bit host.
i have tried all ways known to me and the ones i saw on the internet but none works.
I will be glad if you can refer me to a link that talks on this type of connection in details or any solution you can provide.
    Thanks in anticipation

    Thank you for your response,
    1) I copied the tnsnames.ora,sqlnet.ora and listener.ora files from the database 11g on the windows 7 host to the DevSuiteHome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN path for the developer
    suite 10g on XP Vmware.
    2) I also entered the host address in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\host file i.e 192.168.202.54     AAJANI-pc.

  • Forms 6i don't connect to Oracle Database 11g.

Hi people, I'm having a great problem, first I have a old server runing Red Hat with oracle 10g XE, this oracle XE is almost full, so I need to install Oracle Database 11g XE to get more space in another server, this another server is runing windows server 2003, I did it tow time in tow diferent server, a restore for migration is all right, the problem is when I try to connect forms6i to the database 11g XE, forms only closed without no error message...
    Some one has some help?
    Regards,

Also take a peek at some of the compatibility settings within 11g XE. You can get it to act like 10g XE regarding password caps vs lower case and such. We've been able to get a client/server forms/reports app (patch 18) to connect to and run just fine to 11g XE.

  • JDBC 2.0 and Oracle rdbms 8.0.5

    Hello everyone,
I need a bit of help about the compatibility of Oracle 8.0.5 with JDBC 2.0 / JDK 1.2.
In particular I would like to use a couple of methods belonging to the updatable ResultSet, updateBinaryStream() and updateRow(). Do someone know about any problem with this configuration?
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards,
    Kamillo.

You will have to use the latest thin driver or a later version of the OCI driver (and client) since this type of behavior (JDK 2 support) wasn't added until 8.1.x.

  • Oracle client 9i and Oracle RAC 11g

    Hi,
Would appreciate to help me in following. I have installed RAC 11g on one site and on another site I have machine with installed client 9i. All traffic between them going through firewall.
Client is using by application that opening from 8 to 12 sessions to server with permanent high load. Periodically we are getting error "end-of-file communication" that means disconnections with DB.
Can it be compatibility issue between 9i client and 11g server or most probably firewall killing connections?
On the same site that installed DB, we are using 11g client and there everything working perfectly. So it can be only firewall or client 9i issue.

My version of client is 9.2.0.7. It should be compatible as per this doc:

  • GNU gcc and Oracle 10g/11g on Solaris x86-64- examples?

We are looking at developing an Oracle database app on the above platform. We have the Solaris Studio 12.2, but one of the programmers has a visual impairment which makes using the GUI difficult.
I "think" one might be able to use the GNU gcc series compilers ( which she is familiar with) to develop an app that runs on Solaris, and accesses the database on the same server using the Oracle libraries, but I am unclear on the details. Can someone point me in the right direction to get the information needed, or sample code for using the gcc compilers for database access????

I believe you can use gcc for developing Oracle database programs on Solaris. But the best place to ask about database development is in an Oracle database forum:
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/main.jspa?categoryID=84
and look under the Database entry.

  • Integration of BIP and Oracle Forms

    Hi Gurus
I have been referring to a whitepaper 'How to integrate Oracle BI Publisher via Web Services in Oracle Forms' version 2.2
It mentions about using version Oracle Forms 10.1.2.3 and Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3.4
I am using Oracle Forms 10.1.2.0.2 and JDeveloper 10.1.2.1.0
Do these versions support integration of BIP 10.1.3.4 with Oracle Forms 10.1.2.0.2 via Web Services?
If yes, is there any document which details the steps?
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Aparna

    Hi,
you do not have to go on ETL route, unless there are other initiative towards warehouse. you can check fusion intelligence implementation document to see how to configure instanceconfig.xml file and other implementation details to take advantage of BI with EBS.

  • Oracle RDBMS for Intel MacOS X

In reading the other posts about Oracle Instant Client for Intel MacOS X, I see a lot of others are stating that no one is asking for Oracle RDBMS to be supported natively on Mac OS X (Intel).
For the record, there are many others that are asking for this from Oracle (and have been since Intel of Mac OS X was announced). I too need the Oracle Instant Client, but I really need Oracle RDBMS released as well (10g for Tiger (Intel) or better).
We have been waiting for Oracle's promise a few years ago to treat the Mac as First Class Enterprise platform. We invested in this and have been shipping our "single box" solution. However our customers are held back by only able to run Oracle 10g on Panther Server since our product must be run in a certified environment.
Oracle on Mac OS X for us has been very stable and has served our development and customers well. However, it is just not able to run "certified" on the newer hardware architecture (Intel) and a machine replacement cycle is overdue because of this.
I hope that Oracle visits this issue soon and has an announcement coincident with the launch of Leopard (UNIX 03).
I realize some of you have different needs and run the RDBMS on another platform, but not us. So please count a vote for me for both an Oracle Instant Client AND Oracle RDBMS for Mac OS X (Intel).

In reading the other posts about Oracle Instant
Client for Intel MacOS X, I see a lot of others are
stating that no one is asking for Oracle RDBMS to be
supported natively on Mac OS X (Intel).Yeah, well, those are the same people who seem to think that all it takes to release a new version of the client is switching a compiler flag, waiting 15 minutes for a build, and dumping the result onto the OTN download site. Hyperbole trumps reality. In other words, it's an Internet forum. ;-)
I'm sure you've already done this, but you're much, much better off getting on the phone with your Oracle rep and detailing to him/her just how much licensing revenue they realistically stand to lose if they don't give some attention to the Intel Mac platform. I could believe that the recent tone of discourse on this forum about "Oracle on OS X/Intel" might actually erode the position that it's a useful product direction for Oracle, so anything that license-paying folk can do to convince them otherwise would be great. :-)
Otherwise, it's just the same 5 people posting semi-anonymously making vague threats about moving to some other platform and/or venting their spleens about horrible they think Oracle is (which, I know is often a huge motivator for anyone to take on a project...)

  • WLS10.3.0 and Oracle DB 12c

    Hi
    we've WLS 10.3.0 (we've extended support) and Oracle Database 11g DB 11.2.0.4 running under HPUX 11.31 U ia64
We plan first to upgrade to Oracle 12c.
Question: is WLS10.3.0 supported together with Oracle DB 12c.
Its planned to to do WLS10.3.6 upgrade  in a separate step - later - 10.3.6 and 12c - this combination is valid (according the Certifcation page)
    Best regards
    Thomas

You can also patch up 10.1.3.0.0 with 10.1.3.1.0 patchset and then deploy SOA Suite components like BPEL, ESB, OWSM to the same OC4J. This will reduce the number of Oracle Homes on your machine.

  • Question about Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL

    Hello,
    I've read that:
This course is a combination of Oracle Database 11g: PL/SQL Fundamentals and Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units courses.
In order to preparing for this exam, i should read the student guide, so there are 4 pdf files. One is Oracle Database 11g: PL/SQL Fundamentals, and the other 3 are regarding to Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units (volume I, II and III). My question is, regarding to this last one (Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units), which volume should i read? I saw that volume I has 400+ pages, and the IIIrd ~80.
Which document should i read? What's the difference between them?
    Thanks!

Passing the exam and becoming certified are not a matter of simply reading a book or taking a training class. While books and classroom materials as well as in-class training are all important steps in preparing for an exam, experience and research are just as important. I cannot tell you that there are 53 questions on the exam and every single question maps directly back to page 13, paragraph 3 in XX book. However, If you have the classroom material, and you have the list of exam topics, you should be able to find most of the information you need. In some cases, if you are not completely familiar with a specific topic, or you don't feel like the information in the book gives you all the information you need, you may need to do a little additional research. This is all part of preparing for an exam. This process is what makes you successful as a certified professional.
Your focus seems to be solely on the course materials that you have and what volumes and chapters you should read. I'm trying to give you a different perspective - preparing for an exam is not necessarily about taking one course or reading one book and being ready. You need to review the exam topics and be sure that you are familiar with each topic.
