Forms 10g itegration with ADF

Hi,
Can we integrate Forms 10g with ADF? Any Blogs/Reference to it?
Thanks,
CN

this is difficult to answer in a short space of time and without knowing what you are REALLY wanting to achieve.
If, for example, you really want to exploit a feature of ADF inside Forms, e g, a Gantt chart, then you can do this. In 11g Forms we give you Javascript integration so it means that some interaction on the Forms can be passed to JS on the page. Also if you ensure that you don't "tangle" the transactions of the Form and the ADF part of teh application then you are ok.
Some of the issues you might have are things like:
Security - you might have different security models for an ADF application and a Forms application
Transactions - you might want to present the application as being "seamless" but infact you could have two separate transactions.
It also comes back to what you want to achieve, it might be that back end integration is more advisable than a tighter integration of the application technologies...for example, using web services.
I showed an example of this kind of integration on the Forms modernization page I linked above, I don't have any more plans to produce any more material like this because its not really a path we would want to push people down (but again, thats not to say it can't work in some cases).
Maybe I could ask you why you are asking this? What are you looking to achieve?

  • Forms 11 integration with ADF 11g Example

    Hi,
i found the nice screencast Screencast, it shows the interaction Forms 11 and ADF 11...
    Now my question:
Is there some more information / tutorials for building Forms 11-Applications which interacts with ADF-11?
    kind regards
    Martin

Hi Martin, I probably need to set the expectations in that we will look to put together some samples/demos/howtos on integrating Forms and ADT graphs but thats something for the next 6 months (and you probably need something yesterday).
In terms of calling ADF from Forms and visa versa, since both are launched from URLs so you can simply call something like web.show_document('ADF URL'). However, I think we really need to look deeper since there are different ways of integrating Forms and Java applications. Maybe what you really want to do is something like
    http://groundside.com/blog/GrantRonald.php?title=oracle_forms_and_google_charts&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
I'm also interested in the business motivation - why do you want to migrate Forms to ADF - if its simply so you can leverage features like charting - maybe the above example could help.

  • Forms 10g Builder with 11g Database Release 1 - Connectivity Problems

    Hello All,
I am trying to connect 11g Database (Version 11.1.0.7.0 mounted on Linux) from my Oracle Forms 10g Builder 10.1.2.0.2 in my client PC Windodws XP. But its just hanging and doesnt connects at all.
Strange is that from the same Oracle home i am able to connect to same 11g user through the reports builder 10g and
, sqlplusw and sqlplus from 10g home.
But i am not able to connect to 11g R1 database from my Forms Builder alone. Why is this? Can the PROs get me out of this problem please.
    Thanks in advance.

First, using 10.1.2.0 against 11.x is not recommended. You should at least be using 10.1.2.3 if you plan to work with 11.x. Further, there is a known issue which causes connection, compilation, and some sql execution to run significantly slowly. This issue has been corrected with a patch and new switch. If you have an active Support contact, I would recommend creating a Service Request in order to get the latest information.

  • Oracle 10g Lite with ADF/BC4J Application(Offline access in Mobile )

    Hi All,
We have the following requirement from one of our client.
Customer Company has R12 Apps instance(which is having 10g Database APPSDB). The users will come in the morning
and connect to the System(NEWSYSTEM) to download their daily worksheet(resides in APPSDB) to their Mobile Devices
(Windows XP - http://www.keenzo.com/zoom.asp?zoom=3830134) and then disconnect from the system. The download of data
should start after login into their Mobile Device Custom Application So that only their worksheet will be downloaded
    to their Mobile Device DB.
Then they will goto their fields and review their daily worksheet in the Mobile Device application(NEW APPLICATION)
in offline mode. And update in the application with their findings, which should be stored in the Mobile Device database(MOBILEDB).
In the evening the uses will come and connect to the system(NEWSYSTEM) and login into their Mobile Application and
start the upload process, then the updated data from their Mobile Database will be uploaded into APPSDB via the NEWSYSTEM.
I checked the links, http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/lite/index.html and http://lite.us.oracle.com and I have
got some understanding about Oracle 10g Lite. For the above requirement we are proposing the NEWSYSTEM as Oracle 10g Lite Server
and the NEW APPLICATION as ADF/BC4J which can run in their Mobile Devices(work offline and then sync with DB).
    I have the following questions.
    1) The above proposing system is feasible?
    2) Can we develop the Mobile Application using ADF/BC4J and using that we would like to
control the sync process from our custom application.(so that only their worksheet will come to their Mobile Device DB)
    3) If I want to have the above system,
    a) I should have Oracle 10g Lite server installed(im Unix or Windows)
    b) I should have Oracle 10g Lite client installed in a Windows PC/Laptop
    c) To get my custom application in My Mobile Device, first I have to deploy the application
in Oracle 10g server using Oracle Mobile Server. Then I have to connect my Mobile Device to the Oracle 10g Lite server,
and deploy the application in my Mobile Device using Oracle Mobile Manager.
    4) I would like to do a POC before start the project.
What are all the installations I have to do in my Laptop.(Consider I am installing Oracle 10g Lite server/client, Mobile Manager in my Laptop)
I am new to Oracle 10g Lite, correct me if any of my understanding is wrong.
If you have any comments in the approach please add it.
    Thanks in advance.
    With Regards,
    Kali.

    1) The above proposing system is feasible?
perfecly feasible, and actually a reasonably standard use of oracle lite
    2) Can we develop the Mobile Application using ADF/BC4J and using that we would like to
control the sync process from our custom application.(so that only their worksheet will come to their Mobile Device DB)
Actually two different questions here. The application code that runs on the client device can be written in any thing that will run on that type of device, and is capable of using the APIs to connect to the local database, and the other functionality like synchronisation. From the forum there look to be VB, C, java users out there (an i even believe if you wanted to, you could use forms). Main decision regarding the Platform for the application code development tends to be whatever you have the skills in.
In terms of the sync process only downloading a particular users worksheet, this would be defined when you define the snapshots of the database tables you want to download, rather than the sync login process itself.
For example - you have a table WORKSHEETS on the server that you want to download, it has a column EMP_NO which is the employee identifier. You would define the selection for the snapshot as
select * from WORKSHEETS where EMP_NO=:emp_no (note the bind variable)
when you then add users to the oracle lite application (actually the database), then you will have a parameter called EMP_NO to define with the employee number for that particular user, and this will be used automatically as the bind variable in the download.
NOTE subsetting in this way does not need to be direct, for example things like
select * from TASKS where id in (select task_id from user_tasks where emp_no=:emp_no) is perfectly valid
NOTE when reading the forum and documentation, be careful of the word application. There are actually two different things to be developed, both normally called 'application'
Within oracle lite you create an application with publication items, scripts, sequences etc. and then subscribe your users to this application. The application in this context is actually the database and synchronisation management ONLY (you can include files and code for download)
The second application is your runtime code that has a user interface, functionality, processing and validation. This is written in some development platform, and accesses the database created above for select, insert, update etc.
    3) If I want to have the above system,
    a) I should have Oracle 10g Lite server installed(im Unix or Windows)
YES this goes on the app server and installs a repository schema MOBILEADMIN within your database
    b) I should have Oracle 10g Lite client installed in a Windows PC/Laptop
YES - once the server is set up, this is downloaded and set up by accessing the <server url>/webtogo/setup
    c) To get my custom application in My Mobile Device, first I have to deploy the application in Oracle 10g server using Oracle Mobile Server. Then I have to connect my Mobile Device to the Oracle 10g Lite server,
and deploy the application in my Mobile Device using Oracle Mobile Manager.
    steps in outline are
    1) install server
    2) develop the oracle lite application (ie: database) and publish this to the mobile server (can use the development kit or java APIs for these two steps
    3) add a user with the relevant subsetting parameters
    4) set up oracle lite win32 client on the laptop from the server download
    5) synchronise using the msync utility on the client to create the databases and odbc entries
    6) develop your application code using the client database
    7) during development, then changes to database structure would be via changes and re-publish of the oracle lite application, followed by a sync to update the client database
    8) once all development is complete, the runtime application code can be bundled up into the oracle lite application if you want, and then the initial sync for live users will download the database and application code.
    4) I would like to do a POC before start the project.
What are all the installations I have to do in my Laptop.(Consider I am installing Oracle 10g Lite server/client, Mobile Manager in my Laptop)
You can set up a standalone server on the laptop, but better to do this on a development app server so you can use the main server development database as the data souce for the snapshot definitions (pretty easy install). there are conflicts if you try and put the oracle lite client and the mobile development kit on the same machine, but if you are familiar with java, the API development is fairly straightforward to use (i have developed applications in this, and i know only the basics of java) you do not need the MDK
Basic for a POC i would say is to
    1) set up mobile server on development
    2) define a simple oracle ite application on two server tables. one has select * from table, and the other has select * from table where .... including bind variable. at this stage use complete refresh as the mode for simplicity
    3) publish the application, create user and define the subsetting variable
    4) set up mobile client and synchronise user. use the msql utility to interrogate the database and check the content, and do some updates 9standards SQL syntax)
    5) create simple appliaction code to conect to and read the database on the client
    6) do a sync after the updates above and check they appear in the server
The above should be reasonably quick and proves
    a) ability to define the data you want to be sent to the users
    b) ability to create an app to manage the database running on the client device in you preferred software platform
    c) data download and upload
after this basic POC, you can extend into defining fast refreshes to improve the efficiency of the sync process, managing the MGP process, developing a more comprehensive database and application etc. If you have complex joins between server table, you may also want to look at creating views to denormalise data and use these as the basis for the snapshots

  • Oracle forms 10g 32bit with Oracle 10g database on windows itanium for x64

    Hi.....
Currently we are planning to have this configuration
    1. Oracle10g RAC on HP rx6600 with windows itanium for x64 architecture
    2. Oracle Application Server (32-bit) on windows 2003 (forms & reports services)
    3. Application migrated from 6i to 10g
I have to things to ask about?
1.Will it be ok to connect from an application compiled with _(32-bit)_ 10g forms to a x64_ platform without problems ?
    2. Can we connect forms and reports of developer 6i +(32-bit)+ to 10g RAC on x64_ platform if the character set is not UTF8 ?

1.Will it be ok to connect from an application compiled with (32-bit) 10g forms to a x64 platform without problems ?I did this also. A 32bit Oracle Form(10gR2) on Linux and a 64 bit (10gR2) database. And this works without a problem. Since you didn't mentioned your versions I would suggest you look for your combination if it is certified combination.
    2. Can we connect forms and reports of developer 6i (32-bit) to 10g RAC on x64 platform if the character set is not UTF8 ?I don't know if the combination is certified. But regarding your character set, you have a character set setting (NLS_LANG, DEVELOPER_LANG, etc.. ) for your developer 6i, your database has it's own character set. Depending on those setting a conversion of the character set will take place between your developer 6i and the database, when you get and put data to the database. But like I said I don't know if developer 6i and 10g is still a supported combination.

Would you be willing to share who this "someone " was....I can tell you they are talking complete rubbish.. We have ben VERY clear about this in the statement of direction document.

"Oracle recognizes this considerable investment and remains
committed to the long-term support of these products."
"Oracle’s development teams are already working on features for Forms/Reports 11g and beyond. This aligned with the commitment outlined above means that Oracle is already committing development resources that will take Forms and Reports through to, at least, 2013."
Please pass this on to who ever was telling you that there would not be a Forms 11.

  • Forms 10g installed and running on Windows Vista

    <font color=0000FF>Update 12-Dec-2008: </font>Oracle has published NOTE 559067.1 -- How to Install Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 - hence 10.1.2.3 - on Windows Vista, 24-OCT-2008 with some installation help.
<font color=0000FF>Update 07-July-2008: </font> Added text at the bottom showing how to find patchsets for Forms 10g.
<font color=0000FF>Update 29-May-2008: </font> This thread was started in November, 2007.  In January, 2008, Oracle released Patch 3 for Forms 10g, which makes Forms 10g compatible with Windows Vista.  As time permits I'll try to keep the information in this post up to date.   Updated information will be inserted <font color=0000FF>as blue text.
    </font>
    <font color=0000FF>Original message begins here:</font>
This is a second thread I am posting to outline the steps I have used to install Forms on a Windows Vista Home Basic laptop.   The other thread describes installing Forms 6i:
Forms 6i installed and running on Windows Vista
Please read through the initial part of that post for the background.  I realize Oracle has not certified Forms 10g to run on Vista, but the time has come for my associates and I to upgrade our old computers to new desktop/laptop platforms, and I would hate to acquire XP machines and be stuck with them for the next 5 years.  <font color=0000FF>(Note: Since first posting this message, Oracle has certified Forms 10g Patch 3 (version 10.1.2.3.0) to run on Vista)</font>  So after another person informed me that he had Forms installed and running on Vista, I went ahead and bought one.  I found that as long as I set the compatibility mode to run Forms programs as Windows XP (and a few other changes), Forms 6i and 10g run quite satisfactorily.
<font color=0000FF>Update 29-Jan-2008: </font> Unfortunately, it turns out that the Forms 10g Builder running on Vista <font color=0000FF>had</font> a major flaw:   If you try to develop a form, the Builder will crash if you try to compile a procedure that calls another procedure in the form that has errors.  The problem is reported and described in this thread:  Error compiling a form under Vista
<font color=0000FF>Update 12-Mar-2008: </font> Installing Patch 3 on Vista does not help with this problem -- the Builder still crashes in the same situation.
<font color=0000FF>Update 25-July-2008: </font> Applying Patch 7047034 has corrected the problem.   See this link within this thread:   Forms 10g: Installing Patch 7047034 on Windows Vista
Webutil note:  I am stuck in a Forms 6i client/server world, so all my forms must run in that environment.   Therefore I have not used any Webutil software, and I do not know whether that part will run under Vista.
Internet Explorer note:  On Windows Vista, IE CANNOT be used to run the Web Forms runtime.  It crashes immediately when you try to run a form.  Instead, I can use either Firefox (Firefox 2, Firefox 3.0 Crashes with Forms 10g) or Netscape, as long as they are set to disable java.  <font color=0000FF>[ Correction:   IE7 on Vista now runs the Forms 10g forms.   You just need to add "?config=jpi" to the browser URL when starting the Web Forms session.   More IE/Vista info: [url=http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=642973]Vista JInitiator Problem ]</font>

    I.  Preliminary system changes in Windows
When I started installing, I got the following error message:    Install has encountered an error while
attempting to verify your virtual memory settings.
Please verify that the sum of the initial sizes of
the paging files is at least 256 MB.To fix this:  Go to Control Panel, System and Maintenance, View amount of RAM and processor speed (under "System"),
Advanced system settings (in left "Tasks" column), Advanced tab, Settings (under "performance"), Advanced tab:
Virtual Memory shows a "Total paging file size for all drives: 2337MB.
Click "change", Uncheck "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives"
Click "custom size:", set Initial size to: 2048, Max to 4096
Click set button, then OK, get message:The changes you have made require you to restart your computer before
they can take effect.Restart the computer.
    II.  Installing Forms 10g
    1.  Download two files from Oracle:
        ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
        ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
2a.  Before extracting, it is a good idea to shut down any virus protection software.  It can sometimes prevent some files from being created.
2b.  Extract both into the C:\oracle directory, as disk1 and disk2.
    3.  Using Windows Explorer, change the properties of setup.exe in the C:\oracle\disk1 folder.  (In windows explorer, right click, properties, Compatibility tab.)   Change the compatibility to run as Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
    4.  Right click setup.exe and click "Run as administrator"
    5.  Select "Installation type" = Complete (1.11 GB)
    6.  Received this message:Windows Firewall has blocked this program from

    7.  Received this message:  "Provide outgoing mail server information"  I entered the smtp mail server that I use.
    8.  A summary screen displayed showing 274 products under New Installations.
    I clicked the Install button.
    9.   Received this message:  You can find a log of this install session at:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs\installActions2007.....log
    10.  The installation completed.  Installed products shows Forms 10.1.2.0.2
    III.  After the install completed
    1.  Create a shortcut to the Forms 10 Builder on the Desktop.
On the shortcut line, after the .exe, add *userid=userxxx/pwxxx@orcl* so Builder automatically logs into 10g database.  If you do step 4 below (creating an easily-accessible folder to use for your forms) change the "Start in" path on the shortcut so it points to that folder.  Otherwise, Forms Builder will not find referenced objects and PLL libraries when it opens a form.  Also do the same on the Start, All Programs shortcut for the Forms Builder.
Edit:  After applying Patch 3, the following steps are not necessary.
Set its compatibility to Windows XP.
Set checkbox: "Run this program as as an administrator."  (Without this, FormBuilder will NOT open a PLL library.)
Click the "Show settings for all users" and change values there.
    2.  Copy "Start OC4J Instance" icon to desktop.
Set its compatibility to Windows XP.
The first time it runs, I got a Windows popup to unblock program named Java.  I clicked "Unblock".
    3.  tnsnames.ora:
    Rename C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    to:  tnsnames_orig.ora
If you created a tnsnames.ora file for Forms 6i, just copy it to the path above.  If not, do this:
Create a new tnsnames.ora file, copying entries old file on my old laptop, which contains all the connections I use.
Delete the old laptop entry, replace with new entry for the new local ORCL connection on new laptop from tnsnames file renamed from the c:\oracle\... ...\10.2.0\db_1\ path.
    4.  Optional:  Create an easily accessible folder to store fmb files:
    C:\users\steve\.1\fmb10
You don't really want to keep drilling into C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\forms, and then find your .fmb file among the several dozen oracle-supplied files.
To create a folder named .1, you have to open a CMD.exe (Windows DOS) window, and type the Make Directory command:
    MD .1
That will create the folder within the current directory -- mine defaults to C:\users\steve
Note:  If you also need to use Forms 6i like me, DO NOT EVER open a .fmb file in the Forms 10 Builder from the Forms 6i folder.  If you compile it, or even worse, save the .fmb, Forms 6i *cannot ever* access the file.  Instead, always use the File Manager (Windows Explorer) to copy the fmb from the fmb6 folder into the fmb10 location.
    5.  Change the Forms 10g Default.env file using a text editor.
This file replaces all the settings originally written to the Windows Registry (GREAT idea, Oracle!  I hate the registry.)  No more Regedit.  The default.env file is located at: (DevSuiteHome_1 path)\forms\server\default.env
Locate line with:  FORMS_PATH= and add:
        ;C:\users\steve\.1\fmb10
    Add a new line:
    FORMS_MMAP=FALSE
The above allows compiling an fmx while the form is running.
    Add a new line:
    FORMS_ROWLOCK_OPTIMIZATION=FALSE
(This fixes Oracle bug number 3949854, which prevents automatic skipping if the same value is typed over another value. TAR 4806199.993 Automatic Skip failure...)  See bug 4068896
    Add a new Line:
    FORMS_RESTRICT_ENTER_QUERY=False
This allows use of Query-Where window in enter query, after entering a colon in any input field.  Without this, Forms returns FRM-40367: Invalid criteria in field nnn in example record.  Oracle shut it down to prevent "sql injection" attacks.
    6.  Jiniator setup:
    Run file jinit.exe in C:\oracle\DevSuiteHime_1\jinit\jinit.exe
    It installs Jinitiator 1.3.1.22.
    I installed it in C:\oracle\JInitiator 1.3.1.22\
For Firefox, make sure a copy of file \bin\NPJinit13122.dll resides in   C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins.
For Netscape, the path is:  C:\Program Files\Netscape\Navigator 9\plugins
    7.   Browser settings
See the note above about using Firefox 2 and not Firefox 3!
In Firefox 2 go to:  Tools-> Options-> Content
    Uncheck the "Enable Java" checkbox
--Firefox terminates if this is not done!
Note:  After my system automatically installed updates to either java or Firefox, re-check the "Enable Java" setting.  I am suspicious that one of these installs re-enables java in the browser.
Also note:  some web sites cannot display properly if java is disabled.  Example:  U.S. time website: http://www.time.gov   Use Internet Explorer to view these.
In Netscape make the same changes as Firefox.  Without disabling java, it also terminates when you try to run a form.
Creating a url to use in the browser:
    Try this:
        http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet
If it does not work, change the 8889 port number as follows:
    Open file:  C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\install\portlist.ini
    Note the number in line:
Oracle Developer Suite HTTP port = 8889
Use the number as the port number.
You can also change the 127.0.0.1 to the computer name:
Control Panel, System and Maintenance, See the name of this computer (under "System").  Mine is "steve-PC"
So the alternate URL is:     http://steve-PC:8889/forms/frmservlet
To try out the URL, start the OC4J instance set up above.  Then start either Netscape or Firefox, and enter the URL.  You should get a welcome screen.
If the above URL works, start up the Forms Builder, and open Edit, Preferences.  On the General tab, uncheck the "Build before running" check box (optional).  On the Runtime tab, set the "Application Server URL to the url above.
To run a real form, add this to the URL after frmservlet, (with no spaces):
        ?form={formname}&userid={userxxx}/{passwordyyy}@{connect-string}
but replace the parts in curly braces with the appropriate values.  Example:
        http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet?form=ABC&userid=abc123/zyx@orcl
Setting up Forms Builder to directly run a form in the browser:
Run the Forms Builder.  Go to Edit, Preferences, Runtime tab.
Set the Application Server URL to:
        http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet
(or use whatever URL string you developed above)
Set the Web Browser Location to:
        "C:\Program Files\Netscape\Navigator 9\navigator.exe"
(or an equivalent to run the Firefox browser).
    8.  FORMSWEB.CFG file changes
    The file is located at:
    C:\ORA_DS_101202\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server\formsweb.cfg
I changed the following two lines in the file, but these are my personal preferences:
    separateFrame=true
    lookandfeel=Generic
    9.  FMRWEB.RES file changes
For Oracle help:  Enabling Key Mappings
The file fmrweb.res defines actions (triggers that run) when a function key is pressed while running Forms.  The one released has unix-style key mapping, but I prefer keys originally mapped for Windows PC Forms users. There is a fmrpcweb.res in the same folder that can be renamed to fmrweb.res.
    In the C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\forms path, I renamed fmrweb.res to fmrweb_orig.res.
I have a file that I prefer to use, so I put it into the folder as fmrweb.res. The contents are listed below. It is organized so the most important keys are listed alphabetically at the top (URFD column is the sort column), followed by a group of less-important keys.  These are keys that are available to users, but they either would not use, or are disabled within most forms.  The URFD column in the second set starts with a hex A0 character, which is a high-order space, so collates after normal alphabetic characters.  (Note: If you want to copy the text below and use it, the hex A0 character has been changed by the forum software to a space. So you would need to use a text editor with hexadecimal character capabilities to replace the space with the original character. )
My file has special keys defined for F2 (I use it for a debugging Key-F2 trigger in my forms), and a "Cursor to Home" F12 function. All the rest are pretty much the same as in the released fmrpcweb.res file, only mine are organized alphabetically on the URFD column.
The Web Forms fmrweb.res file is editable using any programming editor (NOT MS Word!!!). The old Client/Server key mapping file, fmrusw.res, could only be changed using the Oracle Terminal program (and it is a pain to use).
Here is the main part of my fmrweb.res file:#

I followed your instructions and installed Developer Suite 10G on Windows Vista Home Premium edition. I have Oracle 11G DB running on the same machine.
    Two points, Steve:
    1. When I tried to set the maximum virtual memory to 6110 an error message displayed from Windows and told me that I can't set the maximum virtual memory to more than 4096. I set it to 4090 and it worked and I got nothing wrong during the installation process.
    2. After installing JInitiator and disabling Java on Firefox I called the http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet page and everything seemed to be OK because the Oracle Forms Services logo appeared and then a successful installation message appeared , but as I clicked (ok) to continue a gray screen appeared inside the browser (like the one displayed when you try to run a Java applet inside a browser) and then I wait to death till something appears but sadly nothing. I just get a blank gray screen inside my Firefox browser.
Do you have any idea what to do to solve the problem?

    Hello Friends,
I have been unable to download the patch for developer 10g forms as I am not a metalink registered user. But I have downloaded other browsers such as firefox2 and netscape 9.0.0.6. I am trying to run my forms 10g rel2 with these browsers. But on netscape it says Java is not enabled, even though I have enabled Java. And it shows me a grey page. On firefox 2, it says 'click here to download plugin'. After you click on it, it says 'No suitable plugins were found', 'Unknown plugin(application x/jinit-applet; version 1.3.1.22) and a text box is beside it labelled 'Manual Install'. When you click on this manual install button, it takes me to this page :
    http://ajayia-pc:8889/forms/jinitiator/us/jinit_download.htm.
Please can anyone help with advice as to what direction to go. I am stuck with my installation. I am using Windows Vista Operating System.
    Many Thanks.
    Cheers

  • Oralce 10g/Forms 10g

    Hello All,
We are currently on Oracle 9i database and forms6i client/server. We plan to migrate our application to the web. Our initial plan was to go to AS 9i release 2/forms9i. A new server has been purchased by our company which will have a lot of space and memory (with around 64 CPU's). But now that the 10g is available my question is:
    1. Is 10g really necessary for us if we are not going to use the grid computing capability? I don't see any good reason for us to migrate to 10g other than it is the latest version.
    2. Will 10g AS/forms 10g work with Oracle 9i database?
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks
    -J

    Hi,
Oracle Application Server 10g is not only for customers that want to use the Grid. Its a further development of teh Application Server and Forms also. The Forms version in 10g is similar to Forms9i but provides management enhancements and functional enhancements. Also Oracle Application Server 10g has a CD that only installs Forms and Reports. I would suggest to move to 10g.
Yes, Forms10g is supposed to work with Oracle9i databases.
