Forms 11g as a Window Service

Hi,
Does anyone know how to set up WLS_FORMS as a window service ?
I'm ok with admin server and node manager, but can't get it work with WLS_FORMS.
If I create the service without ADMIN_URL, I get this message : "Booting as admin server, but servername, WLS_FORMS, does not match the admin server name, AdminServer"
If I create the service with ADMIN_URL, the server starts in ADMIN mode, not in RUNNING mode...
Is there an option to start in Running mode ???
Any help would be appreciated !!

Yes I did and that's how I succeeded with the AdminServer.
At the present time I can't access the note on Metalink
(Article cannot be displayed. Possible reasons are:
The article is not classified as publicly accessible ("non-public") ...).
I reported this to support, waiting for the answer...

I just can't understand why Oracle does not provide a simple running example to its customers...

You need to delete the entries from registry.
Search for instance name and opmn and try deleting that.

Installing Forms 11g 64bit on Windows Server 2008 64bit

we are trying to install Forms 11g 64 bit with WebLogic 64bit on windows Server 2008 64bit and followed the short checklist of Jan Carlin :
- installed JDK 64bit
- installed WLS1032-generic
- started installation of Forms/Reports
Installation of Software worked fine and the configuration part did create the domain, but starting the domain fails (hang).

Somewhere I've read that the reason might be that the installation uses 32bit JDK, but I don't know if I did something wrong.
Somewhere else I've read that the reason could be the Path setting, which may include some directories with emphasis in the name which might be a problem for Weblogic.
Any idea or help is appreciated.

FYI,
This is related to Oracle-Bug 9370799 which hopefulls get sorted out sometimes. Having "(" or ")" somewhere in the PATH is not working. The workaround til the Bug is solved as of support is :

1) Remove the directory with "(" ")" from the System Path at install time only (this is what you have already performed)
2) Roll back the change so the System Path contains again the directory path with parenthesis
3) Copy in the clipboard the current PATH value and edit the <Middleware Home>\wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.cmd file and look for the following line:
if "%WL_USE_X86DLL%" == "true" set PATH=%PATCH_PATH%;%WL_HOME%\server\native\win\32;%WL_HOME%\server\bin;%ANT_HOME%\bin;%JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin;%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%PATH%;%WL_HOME%\server\native\win\32\oci920_8
4) Before this line define PATH to value you have in the clipboard without the reference to the directory with "(" and ")"
5) Save the commEnv.cmd and you should be able to start up your domain having the directory containing the "(" and ")" in the System Path

Install Forms 11g FM on Windows 2008 64 bit

Has anyone been able to install FM 11g (Forms etc) on Windows 2008 Server 64 bit.
Every time I attempt an install I get the OUI checking for swap space and monitor configuration. After that the OUI goes away and nothing else happens.
The entries in the installactions file is below.
Using paramFile: D:\Install\Disk1\install\win64\oraparam.ini
Checking swap space: must be greater than 500 MB. Actual 7154 MB Passed
Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors. Actual 65536 Passed
The commandline for unzip:

I have installed the WLS using the 64 bit version of JRockit with no problems.

I reviewed your SR and wanted to clarify a few things. In the SR, you were not exactly told that installing (in general) was not supported on Win2008(x64). You were simply told that you could not use the 32bit download on a 64bit machine or install the Builders on x64. If you were told something else in a call I apologize as that information may have not been correct. Additionally, the SR is very confusing because you go from talking about Win2008 to XP to 2003 back to 2008 and so on. This is a very difficult way to troubleshoot. Dealing with one problem at a time will almost always result in the fastest resolution time. That said, here are the facts based on the platforms you mentioned in the SR.
1. Windows 2008 (64bit): This platform is intended for deployment (server). Although it may be possible to install the Forms/Reports Builders on this platform, Oracle is currently not supporting the Builders on any 64bit platform. Plans to support 64bit Operating Systems for Builders is still under review. So, for now, you must use the 64bit download to install on a 64bit platform. If you choose to attempt the installation of the Builders on this platform, you do it at your own risk.
2. Windows XP and Vista (32bit): These platforms are generally considered "client" platforms. These platforms are supported for using Builders. Technically they are not supported to be used as servers. Therefore, HTTP Server and Web Cache are not supported on these platforms. More details are explained in the Release Notes:

3. Windows 2003 (32bit): This platform can be used with both the deployment components and the design-time components. That said, being a 32bit platform, I would not recommend trying to run a prod system and attempt to develop on it as well. Certainly, doing application maintenance on this machine would be fine, but if you were running a prod environment here, I would not suggest running the Builders full time too. 4gig of RAM or more would definitely be needed. Now, the actual problems you had/have:
Configuration failing when installing on Win2008 (64) - Looking at the SR, this appears to have been the result of trying to use the 32bit installation on the 64bit box. Upon initial release of the product, 64bit Windows distributions were not available. However, they are now and must be used on 64bit Windows 2008 and 2003 platforms. Refer to the OTN Download area.
Also seen in the error log was a connection issue. This is often caused as a result of several things, but the most common causes are WLS (node manager) is not running or the machine is under powered (usually lack of RAM). Regardless of what is documented, experience shows that a Windows machine will need to have at least 3.5 gig of RAM in order to support the installation process. This assumes that nothing else is running during the installation process unless it is absolutely needed. It seems that 4gig or more offers the most likely chance of a successfull installation on the first attempt.
Regarding the error which suggests that a given service already exists. This could likely happen if you attempted an installation, but it failed then you attempted to re-run the installation without first doing a thorough clean-up.
On the XP installation it appears that there was some memory issues. From the log: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError. As I mentioned, for the most likely chance of success, the machine should have at least 3.5 gig of RAM. If you are just installing the Builders you can have less, but if the config portion fails, you will probably see the connection failure seen in your other attempts. When/if this failure occurs, do not exit or do anything with the installer. Allow a minute or two (or more) for the new instance to completely start then select the Retry option. You will likely find that the configuration will complete successfully.
Also, important for any installation type.... When installing WLS, UNcheck the Launch Quick Start option that appears near the end of the WLS installation. Running this creates a default or demo instance. Unless you are planning to use this example instance, leaving it out can give back as much as 500 meg RAM in some cases. If you have already installed it and don't want to reinstall, stop whatever processes start as a result of that example instance.
SUMMARY
1. Be sure you are installing the correct software for your platform type. 64bit software for 64bit OS
2. On Windows, ensure that you have either installed the Loopback adapter or added your host name to the hosts file. Refer to Section 2.3:

Run report in form 11g with RP2RRO.RP2RRO_RUN_PRODUCT

I have installed Forms 11g R2 on Windows Server2008 64bit
using tools are :-
Weblogic Server 10.3.6
SE JDK 6U35 64bit
Windows Server 2008 (Firewall off)
Oracle Portal,Forms,Report, and Discoverer Services (11.1.1.4.0)
I try to run report within form 11g, i also attached library RP2RRO.plx in form
RP2RRO.RP2RRO_RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS,'\reportname',SYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM,pl_id,null);
But there is problem Report is not working, i try to make the server on windows run command
rwserver server=myserver
it show the message :-
REP-50125:java.lang.NullPointerException
When i try to url :-
http://localhost:9002/reports/rwservlet?getserverinfo
it show the following Error
REP-52005: The specified key getserverinfo does not exist in the key map file.
Please guide and give the soultion of above problem.

How to use Java Beans in Oracle Forms 11g at 64 bit windows7

Hello Experts,
I am using Oracle forms 11.1.2.2.0 with weblogic 10.3.6 generic at windows 7 64 bit.
My java version is jdk1.7.0_51.
Now I have a htmlbutton.jar (which is for bean item in oracle form and this jar file works well for oracle forms 11g 32 bit windows 7 environment).
I have takken steps:
1:-Put jar file in home\java folder.
2:-add this jar file into archive in formsweb.cfg.
3:-Add this this jar file(which is in my home- java folder) in form_class path in registry.
Now when I try to locate this jar file in my oracle form.There is no such jar file.what are the steps to use this jar file in oracle forms bean item.
Please told me what is wrong here.

It is unclear where you are having a problem. Is your issue at runtime (when the form runs in the browser) or when working in the Builder on the form?
Also be aware that you will need to sign your jar and include some new manifest entries. Refer to the Java 7u51 documentation and blogs that discuss the changes.

Oracle 11g 2, Windows Service OracleDBConsole doesn't start.

Global database name: orcl
SID : orcl11g2
At the end of installation I got the error :

Windows Services for OBIEE 11G

Hi Guy's..
I have successfully installed OBIEE 11G Enterprise Edition and able to access OBIEE 11G via http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?bieehome&startPage=1 by only starting the 'Start BI Services'.
The issue what i am facing is OBIEE 11G is only opening/accessible when i logged in to server( Starting the 'Start BI Services').Once i logout then unable to login to OBIEE11G via above link.
Can any one tell me i am missing with any install/configuration steps in installing the OBIEE11G? Please guide to the chapter in documentation..
If not then why OBIEE 11G software is built with out included with Windows Services.
I mean 'OBIEE 11G Services' have to always running with out dependencies on 'User Logged In or not',My objective is to make OBIEE 11G always up and running..

When I was cleaning my email account i noticed message from OTN forum. I forgot to reply :/
I followed instructions from the message above and it worked. Oracle XE + PPRD (only forms to save disk space and RAM) + weblogic, i have also installed APEX 3.2.1. It all works at my win 7 system
There where one bug in forms builder database connector, solution was to replace it with the file from SQL*Plus (AFAIR it was tnsnames.ora file)
So thank you Chris999, you helped me a lot.

Oracle 11g, 64 bit, Forms 11g 64 bit on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

We just changed over to Windows 7 64 Bit now we trying to find out what version of Fusion Middleware will run on Windows 7 64 bit. Most posting say you can't install
Oracle 11g 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit OS, but we have found a few that say they have found away to install 11g 64 bit. Not one of them shows you the install
from start to finish and some of the posting go back to 2009!
If this has been a problem from 2009 - present can some tell why Oracle has not provided a fix or update for Windows 7 64 bit and are they going to in the future?
If anyone knows how install Oracle 11g 64 bit, Forms 11g 64 bit on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit please let me know!

Monty,
I assume that you mean the developer tools? They are kind of in limbo with 64-bit support for the dev tools, but if you want to get the latest (as of today) release working, you can do this:
1). Install a 64-bit JDK
2). Install WLS 10.3.4 generic (use the 64-bit java)
3). Install Forms/Reports 11.1.1.2 (install only, don't configure)
4). Install Forms/Reports 11.1.1.4 (install only, don't configure)
5). Edit your PATH system variable so that it doesn't contain any parenthesis. I did this by creating a junction point for c:\program files (x86) and using the junction point in the path
6). Run the configuration utility to create the forms/reports domain. Be sure to specify the dev tools
7). Look in the start menu for the Reports Builder icon. It will be pointing to a batch file. Edit that batch file to comment out the lines that print a message and exit (because you're on 64-bit)
Not officially supported, but it works for me.

In 10g forms services opmn was responsible for starting components such as forms, reports, discovery... does it works the same way in 11g? Do i need to start opmn to run forms 11g services? Or just startManagedWebLogic.sh WLS_FORMS ?

As far as I know we need to keep any of these two to be up and running with WLS_FORMS

You have to start this using opmnctl which you can find at $OI/bin directory

Ctrl+Z does not work in Forms 11g on Windows (undo function)

In Oracle Forms 11g on Windows, the undo function, ctrl+Z does not work as it did in Forms 6i.
The ctrl+C and ctrl+V (copy/paste) work fine.
I looked into the Forms key mapping resource file and no solution there.

I'm not sure what functionality you believe you had previously, but UNDO does not have any automatic functionality built-in. This is clearly explained in the Builder Online Help. Here is some of that text. Notice carefully what it says about "Undo":

Moving an array from windows services to form

Hi, I have a windows service that acquires data, then saves this data to a txt file. I have this system set up to start running when windows boots up.
I need to occasionally check on this data using a graph in a form. When I check this data I need to be as close to real time as possible.
I am a newbie, so baby steps please.

Saving the data into a database is better I think, give the database table a timestamp column and query the data by it.
