Forms 6i and XP - will it ever happen

Anyone in Oracle care to give an update on the promised release of Forms 6i for XP?

We have not yet stated which patchset will contain the XP certification. Whoever told you it was in patchset 12 was incorrect. The official statement can be found on Metalink, in the certification section. (Look up Forms 6i on XP).
If you can't log into Metalink, use this URL:
http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/certify/certify.istore_welcome
FYI, the currently planned release date for patchset 12 is still Oct 9th.

    These are your options:
    1. Restore the iPhoto library from the most recent backup that predates the issue.
Advantages: Always works, if library damage is causing the problem and the backup is intact.
Disadvantages: Impossible if you don't have a backup. All changes made since the backup are lost.
    2. Repair or rebuild the library. Be sure to back it up first.
Advantages: May solve the problem with no loss of data.
Disadvantages: May fail. May take a long time if the library is large.
    3. Scavenge the library with a third-party application called "iPhoto Library Manager," which you can find in a web search. From the application's menu bar (not the iPhoto menu bar), select Library ▹ Rebuild.
Advantages: All images should be preserved.
Disadvantages: All books, calendars, and slideshows will be lost.

  • Will this ever happen

will Apple ever make it so us canadians can get movies and tv on our ipod's because not being able to do this makes me angry at america for getting better things then canada

From experience in the electronics industry it is easier to get approval for new products in the United States. My company could get the FCC approval twice as fast as some countries and other countries would not even consider it for their country until it was approved in the USA first. Goofy but true.

  • CD quality recording on 4G - will it ever happen?

Last year I bought a Griffin iTalk with the expectation of at least having decent mono quality recordings, but was sadly disappointed.
My understanding was that this "feature" existed because Apple crippled the quality for copyright reasons.
Now that the 5G has presumably relaxed the copyright poblems, and now provides good quality recording as part of the operating system, will Apple ever release a firmware update of older iPods (like mine) to remove the crippled feature (since it's only an OS restriction--the Linux version is reported to have proved that the hardware is up to the specs of higher bitrates).
Any one at Apple able to shed some light on progress? My 4G is still under a year old--surely this feature request is still a possibility for current users?

    Hi Jodiemcneill,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You can get CD quality recording on your iPod using a different operating system. Here are step-by-step instructions for installing iPL (iPod Linux) on a 4G iPod. Your "microphone" is your left earbud. You cannot monitor your recordings. Your earbud functions as a mic only while you record. Full instructions are found on the iPod Lounge and iPod Linux sites.
This procedure is ONLY for those with a 4g iPod on a Mac.
Use this procedure at your own risk.
Okay, for easy updating, here's what you do:
    1. Go to http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27660 and download the 4g ipod linux installer
    2. If you installed ipod linux already, DO NOT CLICK ON IT! if you don't have it, install it now.
    3. Go to http://ipodlinux.org/builds/
    4. Go to bottom and download both the most recent podzilla AND kernel with the icon that has the two arrows pointing toward each other.
    5. Unzip them
    6. Rename the podzilla one to JUST "podzilla" NO DATE!
    7. Rename the kernel one to JUST "kernel.bin" if it isnt already. NO DATE!
    8. Double-click on the 4g iPod Linux installer you just downloaded in step one.
    9. Click on your iPod on the list.
    10. In the drop down menu, click on update files.
    11. Click next.
    12. Check the update podzilla check box.
    13. Click on the "Browse..." button and locate the podzilla file.
    14. Check the "Update kernel" check box.
    15. Click on the "Browse..." button and locate the kernel.bin file.
    16. Click "Update."
    17. Wait for it to finish
    18. Boot into your up-to-date iPod Linux!
    19. Enjoy.
You'll have to adjust the contrast in the preferences to read the screen. To restore your Apple software, use your install disks and update to current state.
Good Luck. I hope this helps.

  • Multiple hardware in Logic?  Will it ever happen again?

I was just wondering if anyone out there has heard if Logic will be supporting multiple hardware boxes ever again.
For instance, you can have two MOTU 896's hooked up so you can have 32 inputs (using the ADAT inputs) at the same time. From what I've researched, it's a limitation of Core Audio and it was rumored that Apple was going to address it in OS 10.4 - well, maybe 10.5?
    Anyone got anything to share?

It is a pain in he proverbial, but it's for the best,ultimately.PCI-Express is far superior. I'm really not prepared to fork out £1200 for a Magma breakout box. Yes,Wormhole I'm aware of,and am looking at.I expect it to work OK. This might be the time fot me to ditch the MOTU's (which I was thinking of doing),and move over to Apogees and something like Dangerous for my analogue i/o's. I use a Firewire Powercore and is terrible,in terms of reliability.I frequently experience initialisation failures and whatever with it. The plugins are good, but it inhales sharply, reliabilitywise. You can't use the word s**k as a disparagement on this forum, apparently.Sad.
    Thanks for the input!

  • Soundcap off will it ever happen

Hey everyone do you know if it will ever be possible to remove the soundcap on a 2 gen nano or boost the volume? i know its possible on earlier models but from what ive heard the new nano is totaly different. Is gopod making like gopod 1.5 that will work with ipod ano 2g and is linux trying to work with ipod nano 2g or will it be impossible?

I don't know how to do it.
The parameters of my report are not the same as my parameters of my form ...

  • MST Support for MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 - DisplayPort 1.2 - Will it ever happen? (with sources)

So back in October, I purchased a brand new Macbook Pro Retina (MBPr), fully loaded with top of the line specs.  I was soooo excited to have Thunderbolt 2 tech which Intel AND Apple describes as having DisplayPort 1.2a compatibility - which up to this point is unfortunately NOT the case.  The point of the information/questions and requests in this article is to engage a conversation about the issues of not having MST support after Apple falsely mislead their consumers to think otherwise - especially when it is clear the MBPr is capable.  Please read on...
Apple advertises that the Thunderbolt 2 ports on BOTH the MBPr and the new Mac Pro (NMP) will have 4K Display support with the famed 20gb/sec Ports (DisplayPort 1.2 only requires a little above 17gb/sec).  Now that the 10.9.1 update has been released, we have failed to see MST or Multi-Stream Transport enabled on the MBPr Late 2013.  Now, as for the New Mac Pro- it DOES have MST enabled in 10.9.1 with the AMD GPUs.  For all of you out there that's questioning what this means, short answer is basically the Mac Pro will be able to power a 4K Monitor at 60Hz through the Thunderbolt 2 Port but the New MBPr is stuck with only HDMI 1.4 support which tops out at 4K 30Hz. 30Hz is unacceptable for anything but movies or a photo slideshow.  At 30Hz the cursor will jump across the screen, eliminating any of the benefits of 4K.
    BUT it gets worse...
Apple can be seen advertising that the new MBPr 15" model can power a 4K monitor THROUGH the Thunderbolt 2 Port here: http://www.apple.com/thunderbolt - This article quotes the following:
"Now with Thunderbolt 2 built into the new Mac Pro and MacBook Pro with Retina display, you can connect the latest 4K desktop displays and get double the bandwidth for your peripherals. And the two generations of Thunderbolt technology are compatible with each other."
Does this not let the consumer assume that the newest MBPr will be able to drive a 4K display through the Thunderbolt 2 Port?  I would say yes it does, but at the time I wrote this, the TB2 Ports can't power a 4K display because, as previously stated, MST is disabled in Mavericks for the 15" MBPr Late 2013.
NOW, later on Apple posted the following article on 4K support here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6008
4K support on the MacBook Pro (Retina, Late 2013)
MacBook Pro supports 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs at the following resolutions and refresh rates with the built-in HDMI port:
    3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz refresh rate
4096 x 2160 at 24 Hz refresh rate (mirroring is not supported at this resolution)
In the article above the New Mac Pro is listed as having support for a 4K Display with the Thunderbolt 2 Port (or MST DisplayPort 1.2a Technology) at 60Hz with no problem.  This leads myself and many others to believe that MST will NEVER be enabled on the newest MacBook Pro Retina with Nvidia GPUs. Yes, 4K IS supported but ONLY through the HDMI 1.4 port, which has the limitation of only 30hz.  This two-faced advertising is extremely upsetting to a LOT of people, including myself.
Interestingly enough, THIS IS NOT a hardware issue.  If one ventures into Windows 8.1 via Bootcamp and connects a 4K Display via the Thunderbolt 2 (or through DP1.2) Port, the Display registers at 60Hz, thus proving that the Thundberbolt 2 Hub Controller is completely capable of MST DisplayPort functionality.  Clearly this a driver issue with Apple, Nvidia or Intel or any combination.  What Apple has done here is forcing any professional that desires stable and clear 4K technology through their MacBook Pro Retina to do so only using Windows 8.1 on their own machines!  Definitely an oxymoron if you ask me...
Later on when the Mac Pro was ready for ordering, Apple placed the Sharp PN-K321 as a compatible option for a 4K Display.  On the Store page featuring the (over three thousand dollar) Sharp 4K display, located here http://store.apple.com/us/product/HD971LL/A/sharp-32-pn-k321-4k-ultra-hd-led-mon itor?fnode=53 Apple states the following:
"Note that 4K DisplayPort operation is only compatible with the new Mac Pro (Late 2013)."
All of that being said, and I'm terribly sorry for my wordy ranting...
This brings me to a final two requests to ANYONE reading this post:
    a) Has anyone working with the new 10.9.2 Beta Update seen evidence that DisplayPort 1.2 capabilities will be enabled for the new MacBook Pro Retina (Nvidia 750M) with the promised "Graphics Driver Updates" within the next Mavericks update?
    and
    b) To others that purchased or were/are thinking of purchasing a new MacBook Pro Retina with TB2 Ports: If you are just as upset as me about this crushing blow to consumers that just purchased a $3,000 laptop that were promised something that wasn't delivered - I urge you please, write to Apple and let them know they are making a mistake.  You can do this though the support page or through http://www.apple.com/feedback
Thank you for your precious time, and if anyone has anything to contribute to this issue, please jump in....

    GOOD NEWS!
The Mavericks 10.9.3 update adds official support for Thunderbolt 2, 4K!
I'm not sure if you will be able to daisy chain anything to the 4K display.  I've read that the design of Thunderbolt 2 includes support for DisplayPort 1.2 multi-stream (MST), which allows this type of daisy chaining with 4K, but we don't know if Apple has this supported on it's machines.  Apparently it's been buggy in development because the graphics driver needs to work correctly with the Thunderbolt 2 host controller.  I'm sure they will work it out if they haven't already.
The above is all via found information on this topic, but you can follow some more discussion here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1713876
One more note on Thunderbolt worth sharing: always keep your fastest peripherals closer to the computer in the chain. If you have a TB1 device directly connected to the computer, anything further down the chain will be limited to TB1 speed/capability regardless of it's native speed.  Always connect TB2 devices first, and save anything TB1 for the end of the chain.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 and Win7--Will There Ever Be An Update?

Since getting a new computer last November and having to use Windows 7 64 bit (which I hate), Dreamweaver CS4 will not show the properties at the bottom of the screen without it being cut off.  Many of the features that are needed cannot be accessed at all because they are hiding below a solid panel.
The Microsoft Win7 compatibility site mentioned some time ago that Adobe was working on a fix for this.  Where is it or is this going to be another Adobe fix that requires an upgrade which is usually the case?  Anyone else have this problem?

As if I'm not already going blind.  I had to set it to 100% because Windows 7 will not let me go below that even if you uncheck the box that says something about Windows XP.
Thanks, but this is no solution except if I change it every time I use Dreamweaver.  I guess maybe Adobe will get their act together by the next version otherwise I'll find a better program.
How come I don't don't have this problem with other Adobe products?

  • Recognizing Forms 6i and Forms 10g

    Hi,
I have a folder which has a mix of forms from 6i and some from 10g (which was migrated). But since all these are in the same folder, is there any way I can know before even opening the form whether its a 6i form or 10g. I dont want to open any 6i form in the 10g version cause some of them are not supposed to be migrated. Please let me know how to open my forms cause I dont know which form is which version.
    Thanks.

And don't ever open a form from the 6i folder with Forms 10g. Next thing you know, you will save the form from the Forms Builder, and that will render it impossible to open from 6i.
Since I still develop in 6i, I make all my changes there, and save the form. Then if I want to see it run in 10g, I have a Windows DOS .bat command file that copies the fmb to the Forms 10g folder, then calls the 10g compiler. I rarely even open the Forms 10g Builder.

  • Will it ever be possible to send SMS messages at a future time using Siri?

As Siri can set reminders and make appointments for the diary, as well as being able to write messages and emails, will Siri ever be able to do both and write messages at a future time?
For example, "At 5:00pm, tell Kay to put the bin out".
Would this be possible and would there ever be a need for something like this?
Also when will Siri be able to find resturants and businesses in the UK as at the moment only US ones can be found.

Nobody here knows what Apple may or may not do...
