Forms 6i installation

Installed Forms6i on Win2000. What should be the Host string in order to connect to SQL PLus 8.0 for win NT which is automatically installed with it.
Thanks.

You have to: first, install Forms 6i in another ORACLE_HOME. If you have installed the Personal 8i, create LISTENER in net8 assistant. Then, copy the file tnsnames.ora to the directory that you installed Forms 6i and try it. Good luck.

    Some Preliminaries
First off, Oracle certifies only certain combinations of Oracle Fusion Middleware will work together, so make sure you have the right executables.
Only WLS 10.3.5 (and just released WLS 10.3.6) works with Oracle Forms and Reports 11.1.2.
Don't bother with the ZIP distribution on OTN.
Don't bother with the 12c (cloud distribution) of the application server.
First, you need to install the Java JDK (Java Development Kit) jdk1.6u31 or later.
Second, run wls1035_win32.exe to unpack and install the Weblogic server. Only install the software, do not install Windows service or run the Quickstart. That can wait until after Forms software installs.
Third, before installing Oracle Forms, a crucial environment variable setting needs setting. To make this change persistent, access your System Properties (right-click on My Computer icon on the desktop), switch to the "Advanced" tab , then press the "Environment Variables" pushbutton.
Create and set an environment variable "EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES". Make sure that the value is set to -Xms256m -Xmx256m
Fourth, start the setup.exe program for the Oracle Forms and Reports 11.1.2 installer.
At Step 3 of 13, select "Install software - Do not Configure". This will save time in case configuration bombs and you have to retry.
After a long while, the software installation process will finish.
Fifth, you will want to run the configuration wizard. This is the most memory sensitive part of the whole process.
Please close down all disk and memory intensive applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Firefox, and possibly Internet Explorer.
Failure to allow enough memory to inflate several JVMs can cause the wizard to hang.
You will have acquired a bunch of new Programs and shortcuts.
Swing over to the Start Menu and look for the Oracle Classic 11g - Home 1 group.
Inside you'll find a shortcut for Configure Classic Instance --- run it.
At Step 2 of the configuration tool, choose "Configure for Development"
At Step 10, you will start the process of creating Weblogic's "Classic Domain" for Forms and Reports 11g R2.
It may take 5 minutes or so to create ClassicDomain. This is the most memory sensitive part of the entire process.
The wrong configuration will cause the wizard to hang or fail on the "Create Domain" step.
If you're not seeing any checkmarks (or the progress indicator still shows 0% ) after 10 minutes, then you should cancel and get help. ( support.oracle.com )
    Sixth, Reboot recommended.

  • Forms 10g Installation issue on windows 7 Professional service pack 1

    hi
I am trying to install oracle forms 10g  64 bit windows 7 Professional service pack 1 ..
Below are 2 files that i am using ..
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
But it failed but the error is ..
Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2.    Actual 6.1     Failed <<<<
just wondering if there are any workaround ..

Christian is right - Forms 10g R2 (version 10.1.2.0.2) is not certified for installation on Windows 7.  You must apply a Forms 10g R2 patch to bring the version to 10.1.2.3.0 for it to be certified.  You must have a My Oracle Support account to obtain the patch.
Now, to your question - is there a workaround; the answer is yes.  There are known issues with this installer.  I'll list them and their workaround.
    1.  The Oracle installer checks for a specific set of Windows versions rather than check for a minimum Windows version.
Workaround:  Right-click the Installer and select Properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and click the checkbox: Run this program in compatibility mode for:  Windows XP SP3).
    2.  The Oracle Installer can't detect Windows Managed Virtual Memory (VM).
Workaround:  You must temporarily change the Virtual Memory settings and specify specific Initial and Maximum sizes.  See this Microsoft article for more information on changing VM settings.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
This change will require you to restart your computer.  After you have successfully installed Oracle Forms 10g, you can restore the original VM settings.
    3.  The Oracle installer MUST be installed as an "Administrator".
Workaround:  Windows 7 uses "Least privileged user" so you must right-click the Installer and select the Compatibility tab.  Click the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox.
    4.  Not a Oracle installer issue, but you will have to install the 32-bit version of the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (1.6.0 - not 1.7.0) because Oracle Forms is a 32-bit application so it will not be able to use the 64-bit JRE.
Run the Oracle installer and it should now install succesfully.

  • Best way out of Forms 11gR2 installation mishap

I misinterpreted the Cert Matrix when I read that you can install Forms 11gR2 on Oracle Linux 5 (UL3+), thinking OEL6U3 would be OK. Originally, I missed the footnote at the bottom. Now I cannot get passed the pre-requisite screen for Oracle Fusion Forms and Reports 11gR2.
What is the best way to resolve this installation problem? Reinstall with OEL5 UL+, or is there something that can be done to save this?
Any help is deeply appreciated. Below is my environment and log file. Thank you in advance.

    Hi SK
This error is related to the wrong version of JDK u r using & the sequence u apply to install the Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11.1.1.2.0
java version "1.7.0_03" is not supported always it's not smart to always used the latest version of a software each has a compatable version related to each other.
pls  uninstalled java version "1.7.0_03" (reason : for the wrong version used) & Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.2(reason : for the wrong sequence used in installation)
Then installed the following jdk (a support version!)as a first step:
    java version "1.6.0_26"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02, mixed mode)

  • Forms 6i Installation,Please advise

    Hi,I
I want to develop the forms in applications. Can I install the Forms Developer,Forms Server also.
What is the difference between the Oracle Forms Developer and Oracle Forms Server?
Can I do the same procedure for Reports Developer and Reports Server.
Please advise which one should be installed my laptop.
How can I remove or deistall the older version of ORacle Forms?
    Please advise

There it shuldn't be any problem. I've got 6i installed among many other things. It was the last product I installed and there was no conflict, even though there were some oracle processes started.
Make sure your oracle services are shut down. Use the 6i installer to perform the task and verify the PATH environment variable. Check if there are some other oracle home installed with a pre-OUI (Oracle Universal Installer) installer.

  • Form Reports installation guide needed!

    Hi all,
I have problem in finding windows installation guide for Form Report Service 10g. I want to know if I am installing it in the same machine as database 10g, can I use the same oracle home?
    TIA for your help.

    Tia,
you can install Forms and Reports Services on the same machine as the Oracle database, but not into the same Oracle Home.
You can also install Oracle Forms and Reports Services on another physical machine and access the database on a remote server.
Forms and Reports Services aleways use the tnsnames.ora file settings to connect to the database. Copy teh database tnsnames entry to <Oracle Forms and Reports Oracle Home>\network\admin\tnsnames.ora

  • Oracle Form Services Installation (Test.fmx) Trigger Not working

    Hi
I install oracle BI and forms Services on oracle application infrastructure after installation i run the following command "http://ora.server.com:7778/forms/frmservlet?config=testfrm" it will show the form "form services install sucessfully" but when i do a certain cusmization on it i.e. put a one text box on that text put put a key_next tigger in which i show a alert message only. After Customization i run a same URL it will again show that form with the changes but the trigger (Key_next) will not fire
I don't understatnd why tigger is not working or fire.

    So we understand things correctly,
You are running a form and a trigger won't fire. What kind of trigger? A when-button-pressed, or a key-next-item, or something else? I don't believe key_next is a valid trigger.
If you are using a key trigger, you need to make sure that the keys are mapped as you expect. You can see how the keys are mapped in the menu under Help => Keys when you run the form. Make sure the button is mapped like you expect. Additionally, you can modify the mapping by updating the resource file, but that's kind of outside the scope of this...
This type of questions really is suited for the Forms forum under Developer Tools => Forms at: Forms
If you need more help, post there. The focus of that section if Forms.

  • Form 6i installation possible?

    Hi All...
Oracle devsuite 10g installed on my m/c and I want to install forms 6i on same m/c It is possible or conflict occure???
    Pl help.
    S.

I know what you wrote. I fear, that the sequence, in which the registry-keys are created through the installations is important for forms 6i. So it might be possible, that you can't install 6i after the 10g installation, because the HOME2 of 6i is higher than the HOME1 from 10g and can't be used correctly.
Sometimes it is as important to hear, that something is impossible as to hear nothing from nobody in the forum

  • Oracle 8i/Forms 6i Installation - Win2000

    Help Needed
I wanted to Install Personal Oracle 8i and Forms 6i on Windows 2000 . Is there any specific steps I need to follow , like ,
Do I need to install Oracle 8i first or do I have to Install Forms 6i first . I did tried once installing Oracle 8i first , then Forms 6i , but
I had some problems in choosing Oracle Home for Forms 6i .
    Thanks
    Mustaq

If you can download dev6i from oracle web site it will be better. i am using dev6i with oracle 8i on windows 98 and they work. i'm not sure though if dev6 will work together with oracle 8i. make sure also that your oracle8i and dev6 is for windows 98. first of all uninstall any previous installation of both dev6 and 8i. in fact you should erase any traces of both in the registry. if you want, you can reformat your harddisk and install windows 98 so you will start with a clean slate. if you cannot download dev6i then try this installation procedure. 1. install first dev6 to your computer. install both forms and reports. DO NOT INSTALL ORACLE8i FIRST. after successful installation of dev6, check in the program menu if there is a selection for switching oracle home in one of the dev6 menus. If it has then you're on track. if not then I suggest you download dev6i. 2. install oracle8i in a DIFFERENT ORACLE HOME not on the same home where you install dev6. the installation procedure will prompt you. 3. after both successful installation, go to the oracle home switching selection in the program menu and switch to the home where oracle8i was installed. you should be able to connect to oracle8i db by using the SCOTT/TIGER log on. Hope this helps. Top of Form 1
