Forms 6i over the intranet using default socket mode.

Hi
Problem Description
I've managed to install the s/w forms6i, Oracle 8i(8.1.6) and WebDB 2.2 all on an NT machine. I'm trying to run the Forms6i demo - "Healthy Living Application" after installing the setup data. This error occurs SOMETIMES when I try and run my form in my IE 5.0 browser. (I have managed to get this working but it is not consistant!!)
I Start the forms server using :
ifsrv60 -listen
Running the form over the intranet using default socket mode.
The formsweb.cgi produces this excerpt from the html file

I think the documentation at technet covers everything you need. The things to not available on the web:
On the web, mouse-triggers aren't executed.
FFI calls to programs on the client can't be used.
For Forms 6i, everything else will pretty much work, with the odd quirk here and there.

  • How can I remotely access files over the internet using iPhone? VPN? Do I need to use Server?

Please forgive my ignorance here, as I'm a Windows expert but have only been using Mac for two and a half years. Is it possible to securely access predefined directories on my iMac from a remote computer or device over the inernet, be it a MacBook Pro, iPhone or even a Windows computer or Android phone? Is there an advantage to an Apple-only approach (iPhone and Macs)? Do I need to use Server? Is VPN the method of choice, or is there some other method? I'm not looking to do remote desktop control, just remote file access. Right now I'm using DropBox for the things I need most, but I absolutely will not put sensitive information in there, and soon I will need to have access to more than what DropBox can hold. Also it may be worth noting that I'm currently an Android user but will be going back to iPhone soon if it would be advantageous in this regard.
    Thanks!
    Daniel

If you desire security, you definately want to use VPN so Lion Server will work.  Otherwise, if you have sysadmin experience (or know someone who does), there are free alternatives out there for vpn that can be setup on a cheap linux server and provide the same capabilities.

  • Sending Connection Object over the Network using RMI

    Hi,
How can a Connection object be sent over the network and run on another JVM. I need to hold connection object to execute processes one after other, that require Oracle connection without ever connecting again. I do not have J2EE container or webserver setup to hold connection/connectionpool,but need to run the process on command line. I am using RMI infrastructure to pass parameters/return values but connection object is not serializable and connot be marshalled and failing. Please explain, if there is another way using JDK 1.4
    Sudheer

I think that what you want to do is connect to the database on the RMI server object, then use the server object from your remote clients to execute the processes you require to rrun.

  • Transfering Files from one computer to another over the internet using ftp

I am not sure if this is the right section to post this question but i wanted to know if it was possible to use the mac ftp file sharing to transfer a file from a friends computer to mine. He is not on my network we were hoping to transfer the file over the internet the file is quite larger about 2gb. Can any one help me in telling me a way that i could do this thanks.

Enable FTP in Preferences on the target machine.
You will need the IP address...
You can find it by going here
    http://whatismyip.com/
This may be a problem if the target machine is behind a router.
If all goes well... Go to Connect to Server.. and enter
    ftp://ipaddress
    OR
If you want to send a large file then you can check this out...

  • 3GB for 9i AS + forms services over the top!!??

    Hi
I expected when installing 9iAS I would be able to simply plug in forms server.
I have found you have to install full 9iAS enterprise edition will loads of stuff not applicable to my forms release. This is infact a 3GB install!!
It seems you don't get all the .jar files you need to complete a servlet installation using jinitiator. There is a workaround using
    the native ie 5.0 jvm.
Does anyone know any plans for a slimmed down release without all the other stuff?
    null

    Oliver,
Forms server is part of the 9i Enterprise install, but you don't have to install everything. Just clear the other components and install the forms server.
    Regards,
    Bert

  • Backups over the Internet Using MobileMe Family Pack

I know how to configure an AirPort (AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule) to be accessible for Back to My Mac using a MobileMe account. However, we have a Family Pack. I am the Pack master, so I used my ID to set up Back to My Mac on my Time Capsule (and Air Port Extreme at our other location). This seems to just make the master account work. Should the master account enable all of the MobileMe family accounts to leverage Back to My Mac (and hence things like remote backups)?

Recent update to AirPort enables multiple MobileMe accounts to be used for BackToMyMac

  • Hosting Video Conference Calls over the Internet using a IP/VC 3540

A client wants to use his 3540 with 30 session MCU and rate matching card to host Video Calls consisting of participants both on his local LAN/WAN and participants coming in from across the Internet. Cisco's IP/VC design guide does not specifically address a situation like this so I am at a loss. Can someone point me in the right direction ? I am at a loss.

This is something that can be done. A couple considerations that need to be looked into are where the MCU and Gatekeeper are going to reside on the network. If you place the MCU and GK behind a firewall to be protected from the Internet, then you may need to open up ports on the firewall to allow for registration to the GK and calls to the MCU to happen. The MCU or GK could also be placed in a DMZ, or just the GK with the MCU placed behind a firewall completely. As you can see there are a few choices here but it is doable.

  • I set my time capsule "Share disks over the internet using Bonjour"

how do I view my files? Is there something I need to download to do so? I use Mac OS X 10.5.8

I don't know exactly how, but I got it working. I will try to explain, what I did.
    1. I used the easybox as DHCP-Server an set the TC to Bridge Mode.
    2. Then I gave the TC a fixed IP in the easbybox menu by using it's MAC-address (It seems that the address range has to be either 192.168.X.Y or 10.0.X.Y to make the TC accessable later).
    3. I made the TC a DHCP-Server (DHCP only, not also NAT). The IP addess range of the TC starts after it's own IP adress (10.0.0.111) and ends at (10.0.0.250). The IP range of the easybox starts with 10.0.0.1 (it's own) and end with the TC's (10.0.0.111).
    4. Then the Airport Utility told me that if I want to share an DHCP range the TC has to be set to a fixed IP setting, which I set up, leaving the IP-address 10.0.0.111 and the Router IP 10.0.0.1 (the easyboxs').
    5. Then it worked in my case. Since I don't even know what I did, I'm not shure if it workes under other circumstances.
There are of course many variables. Such as the type of the router and the TC or the kind of the internet connection.

  • Deploying existing application (forms and reports) over the web

Hi I do have the following environment:
    1) Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 on HP-UX.
    2) Application written using oracle forms6i and reports6i on NT (Client-Server environment)
I am looking to deploy this existing application over the web using 9iAS, sure I don't want to rewrite my application. I did that in the past using OAS 4.0.8 and forms server and reports server.
1)Does 9iAS support that, which one should I install the standard or the enterprise.
2)Do I still need forms server and reports server.
I stopped using the OAS because it had problems and the performance was not that good, I found CITRIX and Tarantella do better, performance wise.
    3)Does 9iAS has improved that.
Any feedback regading these many questions is highly appreciated
    Thanks
    Khaled

Sounds like the ideal 9i As environment (although you might want to consider either upgrading or patching the database - 8.1.6.0.0 does have patches)
You'd be pleasantly surprised with the performance and stability improvements of 9iAS over OAS.
Deploying reports & forms over the web (pure web access, not terminal services like citrix) require some form of web server, reports server and forms server. I believe that 9i AS is totally compatible with the reports and forms developed in 6i tools, so there should be no rewrite at all.
If you have the time, strongly recommend you check it out.

  • Deploying forms in the intranet

How do i deploy forms9i in the intranet using IIS?
    dipin

    Dipin,
Forms9i is not supported outside of Oracle9iAS. You can use IIS as a front end server though that redirecty /forms90 requests to the Oracle9iAS server. This way IIS would only be used as a routing server.

  • [SOLVED]GPG no longer supports --no-use-standard-socket?

I've used an SD card for where I store my gnupghome for a long time. I have delegated subkeys and all the configuration for them there. It's mounted to /mnt/keys on vfat. These cards use a FAT file system as I use these keys on multiple operating systems.
GPG with release 2.1 has removed the 'standard socket' options, which means now if your gnupg home is on any file system that can't create socket files (see: FAT), gpg-agent can no longer run. Ironically, this is also the release that *removes* all support for running gpg without an agent!
I'm disappointed this was not considered news for arch, I even wrote a small silly wrapper just for forcing me to read front page stories! (http://github.com/codemac/yosumiru)
The GPG news page had the following:
With GnuPG 2.1 the need of GPG_AGENT_INFO has been completely removed and the variable is ignored. Instead a fixed Unix domain socket named S.gpg-agent in the GnuPG home directory (by default ~/.gnupg) is used. The agent is also started on demand by all tools requiring services from the agent.
Any thoughts on how I can keep my gnupg on a FAT filesystem and still run the agent? I'm feeling pretty hosed right now, and am pretty confused why this feature was removed from gpg agent, as this would be as simple as keeping the old functionality, but maybe forcing the --no-use-standard-socket option to be in gpg.conf

That's exactly what I used to do as well: mount a USB key read-only and run gpg --homedir /path/to/usb.

I don't understand why you insist on using --no-use-standard-socket...
Some background: traditionally gpg-agent is started by a DE (e.g. xfce4-session starts it). This is useful because gpg-agent also manages ssh keys. However, this is not required anymore because agents are started on-demand and multiple agents can run concurrently.
Now, if you didn't have a vFAT FS, all is good as you call gpg --homedir because it will invoke gpg-agent with the correct --homedir flag.
So, all you need to do now is to rsync your gnupg dir on the SD card to some temp dir, e.g. /dev/shm/gnupg and use this dir as an argument to --homedir, and don't care about the agent at all.
