[FORMS 9i] Abnormal termination of connection

Hi all,
Since we migrated our forms from Windows to Unix, we meet a strange and very irregular problem: 1 or 2 times a day, a form hangs and we have to kill it.
Watching the dump trace under Unix, we get the following message:

Sometimes the signal error code is the 11 and sometimes it's the 6.
Here is our configuration:
Solaris server, Forms 10.0.2, Oracle Application Serveur 10.0.2, DB Oracle 10.0.4, Windows XP or Vista and Internet Explorer 7.
Notice that we have 4 servers in parallel with a hundred of connections permanently on every server and that this problem happens 1 or 2 times a day on all the servers.
It happens on no form nor trigger in particular. The application worked without any problem under Windows.
Someone may have any solution?

This is probably not Oracle Applications eBusiness Suite forms as 11i uses $ORACLE_HOME/forms60 and R12 uses $ORACLE_HOME/forms.
Since there are backslashes, if you are on Windows, use the following note to enable Dr Watson to capture some stack trace information on crashes:

Hi All,
I know that our system is using very old technologies (ie Java version, AS 10g 10R2, IE 8, etc). But due to the nature of the application, we can't upgrade it yet for a lot of both technical & political reasons ( i know some of you guys out there are in the same boat as we do)...
Anyways, given the above, we are having this Oracle 10g Forms issue where it just crashes, crash in a sense that the frmweb.exe just died for some reason ( which we are trying to figure out). I know the best way to find the culprit of this issue is to contact Support but given that our current platform, the support guys will just tell us to b49g3r off and use 11g.... So I was hoping to get some feedback from the general public on how to exactly find the culprit code... We tried a lot of things like, enabling trace from forms level (then run xlate to analyze) but given the "random nature" of the error we cannot capture where the error is coming from, we tried enablign a debug for some users but yields to no access....
Maybe there are some Gurus out there that can help us with our problem. Everytime the frmweb.exe dies, it leaves a trace file something like this:

Whilst error correcting support may have ended for your Forms version, the product is still covered by sustaining support. The support folks won't tell you to 'b49g3r' off, though they might indeed tell you to start preparing for an 11g upgrade. So they might still be able to help you with this issue with the restriction that they won't be able to get a patch anymore, should your issue be caused by a net yet discovered bug or by a bug which is fixed in 11g. Urgent! Form suddenly hang and then abnormal termination

I'm using Developer 6 on Win98. When I access the forms in runtime, I experienced abnormal termination.

There is no subsitution for breaking the problem down.
1) When does this happen
2) What triggers are firing.
3) What code is executing.
4) Does it happen every time.
Also - does it reproduce in a simple case.

We are getting issue of abnormal termination of the programs and the following error is spooled into the file ifrun60_dump_<PID>.

As said you'd have to transfer your file somehow to the database server; you could use ftp or standard windows shares for that. After you uploaded your file you could use dbms_lob to process your file and insert it into the database: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/d_lob.htm#ARPLS020
Or you could use BFILES to store pointers of your files in the table:

The other way round you'd simply use ftp or what ever else to download those files to the client and display them with host with the associated program. Bfiles would have the benefit that the files are not stored as blobs in the database but on the filesystem which would spare you the writing of a temporary file to transfer it to the client (and reading it with dbms_lob when transfering it to the server) as the file resides on the file system of the database server.

Abnormal termination from forms 10g

I have users that sometime get the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
abnormal program termination error.
Does anybody have any information on this error and how to correct it?

We have the same problem, we're on Forms 6i, patch 5 (Win NT/sp6). I don't think Oracle will ever fix this problem.

At the top of the dump file it states the last successful built in thus
Last Builtin: SET_ITEM_PROPERTY/SET_FIELD - (Successfully Completed)
Perhaps add some messages or run the form in debug to see the exact line of code that terminates the form.

ok, do a complete recompilation of all your sources.
- first the libraries pll or (pll and plx)
- menus
- forms
then restart your application and test test test.
If you don't have further problems, then that was the solution.
a recompilation, as I do it :
for each form :
Ctrl-Shift-K - Compile all
Ctrl-T - Generate
Ctrl-S - Save
that's it

I am using Oracle Forms 6i with Oracle 9i database.
Database is intalled on AIX while Forms are running on Windows XP.
When user opens a form and and click on print option in the Action menu to print screen system returned following error and application terminated:

I am using Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0
and Developer Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.23.2.
I have created a menu. When I call this menu in a form and execute this from either Form Builder or Form Run Time, form executed, but immediately closed when I select any Menu option.
I have seen that every time when I tried to execute my form system generate a dump file. I found the following error in this dump file:

I don't know if the Version 6.0.8.23.2. that you are using is patch 18 ?
If not, maybe you need to upgrade to patch 18 ?
Really not sure here. We are using Oracle 9i database and have no problem with patch 13 of forms 6i. Maybe it has something to do with the menu names ? (names too long or containing a reserve word ?).
Really don't know what else can cause that.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone. I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups. I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either. Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

AddShutdownHook doesn't work for abnormal termination

Hi,
Is there a way to make sure that shutdown hook threads are run during abnormal termination.
I have written an application and added a shutdown hook by (addShutdownHook method). This thread are is only run when I terminate the application normally by using System.exit(0).
When I use abnormal termination (using Eclipse terminate button) the thread is not started..

I seem to remember that addShutdownHook suggests that it won't be
called upon abnormal termination ...
The solution ? jni ... i don't believe java provides (publicly anyway) any facilitly
to handle signals from the OS.
Some of the java source, as I recall, does do it though ... but jni is the advised
solution if you really need this behaviour ...

An asset got scrapped in 2009 and having an unplanned depn value for $100 which resultedi n negative NBV of -100.
This is impact closing of 2009 and opening 2011,
I am trying to post Manual depn (TT 640) in dec 2010 dated, but getting below error :
"SYST: Abnormal termination (ANLB-LGJAN not equal to ANLC-GJAHR) Asset NL010000002004510000
Internal tables ANLB-LGJAN and ANLC-GJAHR of asset NL010000002004510000 are not synchronous
I checked SDN and below listed message is similar to my error, but i am not able to understand much of the below message, m y understanding is there is no FY 2010 in table ANLC which is causing this error.
Could clarify on what steps needs to be done ?

1) Are the table fields T093C-LGJAHR, ANLB-LGJAN and ANLC-GJAHR in line
Example for a inconsistency:
T093C-LGJAHR: 2010
ANLB-LGJAN and ANLC-GJAHR: 2009
Solution: Repeat fiscal year change
2) Is table-field T082AVIEWB-AUTHORITY on 0 instead on 2
Example:

In note 900767 you find the report RACORR_VIEW0_SET to correct this.
3) Have ANLB and ANLC the same number of areas
Example:
ANLB has areas 01, 02, 03.
ANLB has areas 01, 02, 03 and 10
Solution in that case would be not that easy
