From Where I can download Forms9i Software?

If you have a Support contract and access to MyOracleSupport (supporthtml.oracle.com) you can make a media request via a Service Request. Many of the old software versions are available to customers with access to Support. However, keep in mind that you won't get far with asking for "Forms9i Software". You need to which product and version you want and for what platform. For example if you said something like this to me, here is the list of possible software I would be considering:

<li>Oracle9iAS Release 2 (9.0.2.0.1)

Whether or not you are entitled to that software may depend on your agreement with Oracle. That can be address as necessary when you make the request.

Adobe Interactive Form - Signature Software

Hello dear fellow members,
we are currently using CIC sign it software Plugin in our Adobe documents for signature.
Currently we are upgrading the reader to Adobe X.
and there comes the problem. CIC sign IT plugin in not compatiable to this version of reader.
My question is, Are ther any other Signature tools/plugin, that will capture the signature from (tablet PC) and load as image in the signature field.
All possible answers and appreciated and alternate solutions are welcome.
Note: i tried TOPAZ SigPlus - but i think i have to change my interactive form code. (am reaserching.....still going)

Oracle Forms client software license

Hello All,
     We are Gold Partners of Oracle.
     Our customer has got licenses for the production.
     Can we develop by downloading software from OTN and use it for developing applications for our customer?
     Or do we need to purchase licenses for our development.
     I saw in one document that, for Oracle gold partners, usage of Software for development is free.

For specific details, I recommend speaking with someone from the Oracle Partner Network. However, as I read it, as long as your customer has proper licensing for deployment (i.e. "Forms and Reports" or "Weblogic Server Suite") you can do what you suggested. If they want or need to make changes to your application, they will need a Developer Suite license too.

Insert image in form - what software?

I'm not sure if I am in the right place to start this discussion - please forward me to the correct place if not.
I have a few questions and have marked them in bold below.
I have Acrobat Professional 8 at work (on a pc at the moment - this may change) and I need to create a form allowing end users the ability to upload an image.
From reading through posts across a few forums I gather that we will need Acrobat LiveCycle for this.
Is this correct?
I think LiveCycle was initially included with Acrobat Pro version 9 and then X. Is that correct? I am hoping all I need therefore, is an upgrade to Actobat Professional 9 - and won't need to buy seperate LiveCycle software.
Is this correct?
Once I establish what software we need to purchase or upgrade to, I then need to know that some 10,000 applicants can use the form and complete it online as well as upload their photo, then save the completed form and email it back to us. We may then need to extract the images.
Is that all possible?
I am hoping this will work for end users who have any version of Reader, any operating system across any platform (pc/mac etc.)?
Is this the case?
I assume, that as with Acrobat version 8, I will need to create the form and ensure to apply 'enable usage rights in Actobat Reader' so that the form can indeed be saved by the user.

Now we start to get more tricky, lets break this down into two parts:
10,000 users can fill in form, save data and submit: If I assume that your users are not all using full Acrobat (they are using free Reader), then you will need to do an extra step. You cannot save a filled form locally when using Reader, unless the document is Reader Extended (see http://www.avoka.com/blog/?p=114).
You can either use the server side product (LiveCycle ReaderExtensions) or Acrobat Pro to apply Reader Extensions. The Acrobat route doesn't require extra software but it is limited by the EULA as to the number of recipients (I think its 500).
I am wondering Hodmi, why does Adobe allow thousands of users running the simple Reader or Reader Extended to fill out that many forms but Acrobat users are limited to being a number of 500 users or less? I have Acrobat installed on my system and I don't think it is advisable to use Acrobat and Reader on the same installation. So I would be excluded from being an active participant in the publisher's survey or whatever form it is that I would have to fill out (such as the Federal Government's FAFSA financial aid form for higher education--although this is not done through Acrobat but through server-side scripting, but if it were then there would be issues . . . . )

Is there any software which displays all form objects - tables, views, etc?

Dear friends,
I need to know if we have some software product which opens an Oracle form and shows all objects (tables, views, procedures, functions, and so on) accessed by it.
For each form, this software should show all operations made in each table - that is, whether form creates, updates, reads or deletes data in each table accessed by the form.
If there's any software which makes such analysis, please let me know. I'd rather be downloading free software, but a trial version or a paid one can be considered as well.

sorry, I don't know whether my 1st message was clear, so I am trying to rewrite it.
I'm thinking about a software which creates a database objects list report; this report shows all database objects being accessed by the form - for example, it can list all tables being accessed by the form, showing a CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) for each accessed table, or list all packages being executed by the same form, and so on. For example:
Form: CLI0001.FMB
Package -> Operation
PCK_ACCOUNTS -> E (Execute; but that's a suggestion, we can have 'R' instead)
Table -> Operation
ACCOUNTS -> CR (Create + Read)
PAYMENTS -> D (Delete)
Sequence -> Operation
SEQ_ACCOUNTS -> R (Read)
View -> Operation
VW_CLIENTES -> R (Read)
If there's any software which can do it, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

No (unless you jailbreak your iPad), and there aren't any 'proper' anti-virus or security apps in the app store. You can only download programs onto your iPad from the App Store, so they will have gone through Apple's vetting process.

I have successfully created the weblogic server 10.3.5 , and continued with 11g forms & reports. First Installed the forms & reports software, and i try to configure. after several steps of configuration i have failed when its place "*Creating FRCommon system failed - in 11g Forms & Report Installation*".
What it is this Error.

Forms Server Install on Redhat Linux 7.0

I am attempting to install Forms6i/Reports6i/Graphics6i on my Linux Box.
I already have a 8.1.6 Database configured and running.
After downloading the tar file and extracting it I am having trouble with the installation of the software. The Guide refers to running the orainstal shell script in the orinstall directory. Well when I execute the script I get a Character Installer and I was expecting the Java based Gui Installer such as the one with Oracle 8i DB. I cannot get the oraviewer program to work either for I wanted to see if there were some other setting I am not executing correctly.
When I continue with the Char Installer it has trouble finding a lib called X11m.a or something (Motif related).
Does Forms 6i require Motif? If so where and how do I get it for my Linux box? Are there any work arounds for this.
Any help is greatly apprecicated.

Yes, you need motif libraries. You can obtain it for free from: http://www.metrolink.com/products/Motif/download.html
I installed both runtime and development packages.
Aditionally you may ned to have X-devel packages installed.
After struggling with Forms installation on my linux machine I managed to do this, but let me tell you that it's not so simple. First of all please excuse my bad English, I'm not a native speaker. Anyway that's how I did it.
I assume that you downloaded the file d2k6irelease2.tar from technet. This file includes Forms 6i rel. 2 Server and Developer.
I managed to install this on my RedHat 7.1 machine having already installed Oracle 8.1.7 database Server.
First of I created a separate user which owns Forms Server software. I set this user as belonging to the same group ("dba" in my case) as the oracle database software owner. (On my machine I have "oracle" user which owns databse server belonging to the "dba" group and "forms" user belonging also to the "dba" group). You must set your environment like this (in ".bash-profile" in my case):

As you can see I set up ORACLE_BASE to the same ORACLE_BASE as database software ORACLE_BASE, a new ORACLE_HOME, a dummy ORACLE_SID, TWO_TASK to the sid of your 8.1.6 server instance, TNS_ADMIN pointing to a directory which I created manually before starting the installer (see below my "tnsnames.ora" file under this manually created directory), ORACLE_AUTOREG, ORACLE_TERM, DISPLAY set to your_hostname:0.0, LD_LIBRARY_PATH as seen, MMTK_AVIPLAYER is for playing ".avi' files (I didn't tried this). I untared d2k6irelease2.tar under a subdirectory created under "forms" home directory. In "unixdoc/Server" directory you will find linux_svr.pdf instructions for installation of Forms server and under "unixdoc/Developer" you will find linux_dev.pdf instructions for Developer Server. "oraview" didn't worked for me either. GUI installer didn't worked for me either. Chnaging to orainst you may issue ./orainst command and start the installation in character mode (I did not even started an X session). I choosed default install, do not create database objects (I think you will be able to install later this objects by running some sql scripts, I didn't). And I choosed all components presented and all options and default port parameters. You will also be prompted to confirm locations of the motif libraries. I choosed http mode for forms server. Do not install Reports security feature (I've heard that it's not working, this option will be presented to you somewhere at the end of installation). After finishing you may need to edit "forms60_server" file and some other files. For example I had to change my "host_name.domain_name" (in my case was "TEST_MACHINE.(none)") to my IP address as I don't have a DNS server here.
That's what I did to test forms server:
I wanted to test my Forms server by running Apache web server (the one that is installed by default by linux). (in the documetation you will find references to the WebDB listener which as far as I know is no longer installed in release 2, so the documentation is obsolete regarding this module). For this you will have to edit /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file. Look for the section "Alias" and "AliasScript". under your forms $ORACLE_HOME/orainst you will find two files "forms6iconfig.txt" and "reports6iconfig.txt". You will find there actions to be performed by you manually. in "forms6iconfig.txt" file you will find virtual mappings for physical directories. You have to put this entries in "httpd.conf" file. You must edit this file as "root". For example 'Alias /dev60temp/ "/oracle/product/forms/tools/web60/temp/"'. The exception I made was for "/dev60cgi" virtaul mapping which I've put under ScriptAlias section 'ScriptAlias /dev60cgi/ "/oracle/product/forms/tools/web60/cgi/"'.
After succesfully editing the file you will ned to restart http server:
#/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart
Login again as "forms" user.
In $ORACLE_HOME directory isuue:
$./forms60_server start
This will start your forms server listener.
After that you can test your forms server running from an external machine by entering: http://ip_addres_of_linux_machine/dev60html/runform.htm
and after completing parameters you will see "text.fmx" form applet saying that Forms server is installed corectlly or directly: http://ip_addres_of_linux_machine/dev60cgi/f60cgi
You have to install Jinitiator to view the applet. It will be prompted for you to download it when accessing the above address.
To be honest I was disapointed to see that forms server is very slow. And I mean very slow.
In the end please let me excuse if I wasn't clear in some points. If you have any questions please post them on the list. I'm not an expert and I may have made mistakes, but in the same time I hope this will help you setting up forms server on your linux box.
I forgot to mention that you will probably see a message saying that "formsweb.cfg was not found" when accesing "http://..../f60cgi". If you see this you have to options: either make a symlink "forms60" in the root directory to $ORACLE_HOME/forms60 directory or add a line in your "httpd.conf" file (I put this lines the last ones):

And in $ORACLE_HOME create a directory named "conf". In this directory create a file named "6iserver.conf" and put the following line in it:
SetEnv FORMS60_WEB_CONFIG_FILE /developer_home/forms60/server/formsweb.cfg
This will set your environment correctly and you will be able to see the test form. Don't forget to restart apache web server and forms listener.

Show BLOB in Forms 6i

I've got a table with a BLOB field.
I saved an image or another document using DBMS_LOB package.
Now I want to show it in a Form(6i).
I found this rutine but i don't know how show the blob field in a form.
Could anybody help me, please ?

You can directly use read_image_file built in to read an image from the clients system directly into a image object. And regarding form server crash, it is no where related to the form u are running. try to invoke forms runtime screen(which is available in forms installed software) and work with it.
And web.show_document cannot be used to open images from client side. As the form server will not recognise the clients file system.

Googled for the same got results saying, Better use Database function or procedures to execute these Dynamic Statements but We want to execute in forms only.

So in short you are trading code obfuscation for maintainability and the ability to share code between tools? If from somewhere else you need a procedure already implemented in database PL/SQL (and now ported to forms) this would mean you'd need to implement it in every other tool. In times where you might want to integrate your forms with $other_technology and putting stuff on the database is the first step to share functionality you just go the opposite way? And all that because someone is afraid that somebody might steal your source code? I am sorry to be blunt, but this is just plain stupid.
Leaving aside that some things like Analytic Functions, Bulk processing or execute immediate are not even available in forms your software consists of how many LOC? How long does it take to bring a new developer up to speed with your source code? Imagine how long that would take for a developer who doesn't have coleagues who know their way around.
And just so you know: I work for a ISV selling a closed-source product as well. We have 200+ customers all over the planet. We are well aware that wrapped packages can be reverse engineered. The premise is: stored procedures can be reused in every tool we have, if it makes sense to put stuff on the database by all means do it. If someone would want to reverse engineer our software I'd wish him good luck as some parts are implemented in such a hilarious complicated way I have troubles understanding them (and quite frankly I refuse to understand certain parts, but that's another story). I do work for almost 10 years for that ISV.
In any case the possible solutions have already been mentioned: you have exec_sql, create_group_from_query and forms_ddl to execute dynamic SQL in forms whereas forms_ddl is a one way street and most certainly not the thing you need or want. Take a look at the documentation for the other 2 things.

ON-Card Temp Software Request

My inital request for there to be some form of software built into the card for monitoring the tempature and adjusting the fan speed.
Just like the afterburner software, but on the card, and for sure it would need to be upgradeable like a bios.
Just my thoughts because even tho I have the afterburner software set to load at windows startup,
it does not load, or begin to monitor the card until after I login.
Which is a problem for me, not so much for the card, as the operating temps are still within specs.
I see it around 70º, ofcourse I look because I hear the fan roar to life as soon as I login.
I dont mean this is instant, but sometimes I turn on my comp and walk away waiting for the dreaded 30secs it takes to boot,
and may not come right back :/
anyways, just a suggestion as I think it would be a neat feature that would stand apart from other cards if you guys do it first.

? about Adobe Fillable Forms?

this may be a stupid question because i've only had a half a day to figure out how to make a fillable form, which i did and i understand that you receive a datafile when they hit the submit button. What i want to know if there any way to set it up to actually get the form back with the info filled in without having the recipient having to save the file to their computer and re-attach it.

I believe you have posted to the wrong forum. The Adobe Output Designer is the form design software used with the Adobe Output Server ("Central Pro" server) software for producing hard copy output. It can make filled PDF files but it doesn't have a user "fill" feature - you have to use other software for that purpose.
Your question is very similar to those that have been asked at the Adobe LiveCycle Designer forum over the past several months. Unfortunately, for what you want it to do it appears that the answer is that the software doesn't support that capability.
If I'm correct and this is the wrong forum and the Live Cycle one is the correct one, then browse the posts there or repost your question there for a more definitive answer.
One good thing about that forum (over this one) is that it is monitored by actual Adobe staff that are very helpful.

Attachments looses names when distributing from forms

Hi,
I use forms (RUN_REPORT_OBJECT) to run and distribute (to email) a report with additional attachments.
I dynamically create the distrubution list and store it and the files to attach on the application server.
The reports run ok, but in the email the attachments looses their name and get defaultnames like "PDD_ORDER07798975" where "PDD_ORDER" is the report name.
My attach tag in the distributionlist looks like:

</attach>
When running the report from a url in the browser and with the same distributionlist the filenames is ok in the mail.
Another problem is that files like gif/jpg/jpeg get corrupted in the mail (pdf-files works fine) - this oocurs both from forms and from url...

Thanks for asking, Paul. Let me give more detail on the two questions:

We've received a lot of complaints from all over the world that recipients where not able to open our PDF form.
A portion of these complaints were resolved after we explained recipient that they had to upgrade to at least Adobe Reader version 7 or newer.
However, other recipient complained that they were still unable to open the form even with the latest version of Adobe Reader. These are the ones that we're concerned about. We don't know why they are having problems. Apparently, our files works on a number of computers with Readers versions 7, 8, and/or 9. But not on all.
Is it that the recipient who can't open the form have not installed their Reader properly? We don't know. Or is it that the form or form-generating software has some bug that causes problems on some configurations but not on others?

The behavior is not consistent. What worries us in particular, are recipient reporting that they can open normal PDFs but not this form.
One had the computer crashing, others got simply messages that they couldn't open the file.
Any ideas about the possible causes? Anyone similar observations?
