Forms 9i without Browser

Hi all
I am new here. I want to ask about the Forms 9i. Can i run it without a browser? i mean as a standalone application like forms 5 or 6i.

You do do need to run via a browser. You can use Java Webstart. It looks a bit like a client/server application, i.e. you have an icon on your desktop and it opens an applet window when double clicked. Although it is not supported, it does work.

Help: how can web form shown without browser frame at all

Hi,
I upgraded to 9i form from 6.0. I want to show form without browser frame. So I used seperateFrame=true in formsweb.cfg and I use IE=JInitiator. (I tried to use IE=native, which didn't work). I have form developer installed in my window 2000 computer and tested it, it did show applet without browser. However, when I deployed to Unix AS, it still embeded in browser frame with same configuration file. I don't know why. Could someone give me some suggestions? I really need to take off the browser frame (just taking off toolbar or task bar,etc is not good enough). Also, can someone tell me what else need to be done without using JInitiator and if it will take the browser frame off too? Thanks,

When you say "the same configuration file" do you mean literally the same configuration file i.e. a copy of the file uploaded via FTP (or similar)? If so, did you run the dos2unix command (or similar) to strip out the spurious control characters?

Help: how to show 9i forms without browser

Hi, I want to show 9i forms in separate frame without browser, and I use JInitiator. I use separateFrame=true, which worked. But my question is since I don't need the browser, I want to close it. The problem is it'll close the form too. I think the reason for that is the browser is the parent of the form. Can someone tell me whether is possible to close the browser page without closing the actual form? or is there any other way to display actual form without the browser frame. Please help! Thanks,

Actually the senario is when i click on a button, another jsp page should be displayed in a modal window without popup, but the functions alert() and confirm() will not accept the url path of the another jsp page...

Form 6i in browser not in applet viewer urgent plz

dear fellows i have problem running form 6i on web when i click the run form web icon from form builder it opens applet viewer not browser
and when i clik startup-program file-form 6i-run form from the web firstl i get errrcannot find the file c:'orant\tolls\web60\html\runform.htm (or one of its
componants). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.
if i press ok and pursu to the form and fill ins the name/passwore@service
and press run
then i get

How do I a form submit without losing page parametes on other portlets?

I have a page with several portlets. How can I make one of the portlets do a form submit without losing page parameters in other portlets?
If I do a submit only the controls in the form I have submitted are passed which means I loose parameters that where passed earlier.
I looked at the code the portal uses for the next button and I see that it does a POST with the action being the complete current URL with existing parameters. When I do this I cannot access the form variables in my dynamic page.

There are 3 steps to the balancing act of image weight (file size) vs image quality
1) image dimensions (on screen height x width measured in pixels is all that counts). Smaller dimensions = smaller file size.
2) compressed file type (JPEG for photos, PNG or GIF for everything else). Choose the right file type for your image.
3) quality of the final compressed image - visually comparing the final image for "acceptableness" (less artifacts) vs final file size

How to save Pdf form localy without internet?
I thought in the beginning about advanced user rights and pure saving them on adobe reader but i saw legal notes about 500 user who can legaly save it localy and answer to me (bu they can`t answer to my client who paid me for doing this form).
Other thing is to do Air Application which would collect data from Pdf Form and save it (localy without internet) to use it later.
I thought about that second possibility but i can`t find any clue to do it myself.
Any help will be appreciated...

Are you downloading responses as PDF forms after forms are submitted? If so, FormsCentral doesn't provide an option to exclude empty fields and you won't be able to save PDF forms without empty fields.

Under Application Developer Common Modules responsibility,
1) Query Region MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS
2) Click on Region Items
3) Add Buyer Id and Planner Code attributes with Required checkbox checked.
4) Bounce iAS server and JVM and clear java cache
5) Changes not taking effect
Current Application Release: 11.5.10.2 (3460000)
Current INV Rollup: INV.J RUP22 (9878808)
Current WMS Rollup: WMS RUP19 (9951502)

client needs to make the Buyer and Planner fields under Inventory->master Items form to be required.
He tried using the Application Developer Common Modules responsibility, to find the Master Items Region and added the Buyer Id and Planner Code attributes with the Required check-box set to Yes. He bounced the iAS server and cleared java cache, but the changes do not take effect.
client does not want to use form personalization.
Can you please provide more assistance for using Application Developer Common Modules responsibility?

A forms developer could make those fields required with a CUSTOM.pll extension if you didn't want to use forms personalization. Both are considered customizations to standard functionality and may or may not require rework after patching or upgrades.

File upload applet without browsing

i m a php developer, i need a java applet to be embedded in html, that contains a button (upload), on clicking that all text files from a predefined location, without browsing, in the clients computer could be uploaded to server.

Applets are a PITA. Applets that deal with the local file system need to have 'full trust' and that is a complete PITA, especially with the Vista UAC problem that restricts even trusted applets to a particular set of sub-directories (in user.home, AFAIR).
A better strategy might exist if you can..
a) write to a ZIP archive from PHP? (which can reduce all the reports to being contained in a single file*).
b) Invoke 'shell commands' from PHP, as you might from the command line interface, the Windows Command Prompt?
If both those answers are 'yes', I would recommend dumping the applet for a JWS launched application that uses the JNLP API's [file service|http://pscode.org/jws/api.html#fs].
Try especially the sandboxed version of the demo.
Using webstart, this might all be achieved 'sandboxed'.
It would work like this.
The PHP script writes all the reports to a single zip archive with file extension '.reportarchive' instead of '.zip'.
After the reports are prepared and stored, two shell commands are required.
javaws -import -association -silent http://www.our.com/upload.jnlp
..and..
javaws -open C:/the/path/the.reportarchive http://www.our.com/upload.jnlp
The first installs the uploader application to the user cache, while the second tells webstart to open the uploader app. with the reportarchive file name as the runtime argument.
Once the user has OK'd the access to the reportarchive, the rest (uploading it) can be done automatically (with a progress bar).
* Note that if you cannot easily write a Zip using PHP (shrugs) that .reportarchive file type might instead be a .reportlist which simply contains the path/names of the other report files.
If the user fails to select the 'always allow' option for the file list, they will be prompted for each file (until they do). The advantage of the archive is that the user is only ever asked once.
And as an aside, how exactly is the PHP script invoked to run?
Note that a good way to indicate interest in a solution is to add [Duke stars|http://wikis.sun.com/display/SunForums/Duke+Stars+Program+Overview] to match that interest.

White space when running forms in web browser

Hi I am running a simple master - detail form in web browser on my machine . The form is coming fine but a lot of white space of present on the right hand side of the form how can i eliminate that?I have checked my html file and HSPACE="0" and VSPACE="0". what else can be the reason?

are you running in seperateframe=true?
if not you could check your width and height properties of your formsweb.cfg config section

on the status bar and shows "Loading Applet"
on the browser. Further on nothing happens and eventually I have to close down the browser.

Open the tnsnames.ora file of Oracle database home .... find the tns alias contained in brackets '[alias]' which referes to your database name ... and copy it...!!!!
Then , open the tnsnames.ora file of Developer suite ... and paste the above at the end of the file...
Close the file and save it....
You're done....!!!!!
Try the connection again !!!!!!!!!!!!

When I am filling a form and have to go back a page the stuff I have inserted disappears. Someone told me to set "PRESERVE FORMS" in my browser. I looked but did not find any likely adjustment. I have been in the habit pg taking a screen snip of my form details, but this is clumsy.

" Enable Preserve Form Contents for your web browser. It's located in
different places for different browsers, and it should be enabled by
default. I'm guess it's not enabled on your system. It will keep all the
fields intact in a form such as the e-mail page if you have to click on Back. "

If possible then try to open that page in a new tab via a middle-click or Ctrl and left-click to avoid losing the current form.
Note that you can hold down the left mouse button on the toolbar Back button to open the tab history menu and that you can middle-click an entry to open that page in a new tab.

Display form data without blank fields. (Coldfusion)

I would like to display data that was enter into a form, but
without the fields that were left blank. For example, if someone
enters their info in address 1 but left address 2 blank, I want to
display address 1 and then display the next completed form field if
address 2 was left blank. I am writing this in Coldfusion.
What I am trying to do is allow clients to create and preview
a preformatted business card online so we eliminate the back and
forth proofing process. The design for each card is the same, but
with variable information. Ex., Address 1, Address 2, Cell Phone 1,
Cell Phone 2, etc. When fields are left blank I want to eliminate
them from being displayed as blank spaces.

You might also want to TRIM(Form.Fieldname) first to make
sure no spaces
were entered on the form.

Windows you don't or haven't heard of? VM = virtual machine, ie a guest OS running under Mac OS (or running natively on its own partition, seeing sometimes there is software that is essential but only needed for business or once in a while). Runs just like another app (and uses an app to control the guest OS).
