Forms and reports on Application Express

Hi:
Is it possible to import regular forms and reports( .fmb and .rdf) into the application express and run in the database xe/application express environment?

Hello,
Not yet possible...
What you could do is run the Form in an iframe, but if you talk about migrating the forms and reports, the APEX Dev team is working on that.

Dimitri

  • How Can I run My Forms And Reports On Application Server 10 g Release 3

    Hi Everybody
i need to learn steps to configure forms and reports on application server 10g release 3 pls help , i am a beginner

    hi,
I'm also need to know "How to run My Forms And Reports On Application Server 10 g Release 3". So if u know the steps then please share with me .....

  • Deploying forms and reports on Application Server 10

    I'm a beginer
I have build some forms, reports by using Oracle Developer Suite (Form developer and Report developer) with Oracle database9i , I had run it in that tools, Now I want to deploy them on Application Server. How can I get it ? any body tell me step by step (because I'm a beginer) to configure ? I had installed Oracle Application Server (without install infrastructure) , can I deploy on it ? My computer support to install Application Server with Infrastructure (because Memory only 512M) . please give advice and tell me what I do ???

There is a jinit feature in my 10g Enterprise edition that installed with my database. However, I haven't been able to map to it successfully from the jinitiator that down loaded when I first ran the form. I tried deleting it and when I tried to run the form again I got the install window. The only way it would run was to install. The initial installation maps correctly, opens the web page and displays the form, and I am able to make query. I can not however run any other forms without the fatal Internet Explorer error.
I also tried to map the correct port thru the forms preference feature under edit on the forms screen, that didn't work. I am perplexed howerever that the recommendation for the DevSuite download at Oracle said that jre/sdk 1.5 is required but jinit 1.3.1 is what they programmed to download. a couple of Oracle OTN papers I have reviewed have indicated a number of bugs for oc4j and jinit. There are fixes indicated for some of them but no definitive mention of where to find the files. Some of the files mentioned are not in DevSuite but are found in 10G databse, Enterprise.
I am a database tech major and need DevSuite10 for my class, especially forms and reports. This is also my first time at this forum. I have sent error reports to Microsoft concerning IE6 errors without reply. So, I am assuming that this is an Oracle error not Windows XP Professional. I have had 10g Enterprise Manager installed since November of last year and have not had mapping problems with it when using OEM browser services. I don't know why jinit can map and run on install and totally not on every attempt to re-run. HELP!!!

    Hi,
You can install the Oracle Application Forms and Reports standalone version of the application server. This does not require an infrastructure.
As far as deployment of Forms and Reports, you can either place your compiled (.fmx and .rep) files in the default \forms90 directory or you can place them in another directory and specify the location in the formsweb.cfg file.
For more information on the Oracle Forms and Reports standalone, see the installation guide at http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19375_06/doc/frs/install/B16392_03/toc.htm.

  • Application Server : Forms and Reports Services

    Hello
Currently I have a three tier architecture in production for a client, running an forms and reports applications called HREF
    1. client browser with Jinitiatior, webutil running 10g forms and reports app,
    2. a 10g OAS with forms and report services and infrastructure components installed
    3. a 10g Enterprise Edition Database Server running a 16gb db.
There is a new dev environment to be made on a much smaller scale with the same HREF application but it will only be about 2GB of data at the back end.It has to be much more cost effective, so I am looking at both reducing license costs and scale throughout.
    So could I use........
    1. The same client browser with Jinitiatior, webuti running 10g forms and reports app, -- running fmx and rdf can that be free?
    2. Do I need a separate appliaction server install ? -- is OAS necessary , what is the most cost effective option (just install forms and reports services?)
    3. Can I use Oracle Express Edition 10g -- free to use
    Thanks for any help.

For development you don't need to pay license fees, so you could use Oracle Enterprise Edition as well.
Have a look at the OTN License agreement e.g. here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
We grant you a nonexclusive, nontransferable limited license to use the programs only for the purpose of developing, testing, prototyping and demonstrating your application, and not for any other purpose. If you use the application you develop under this license for any internal data processing or for any commercial or production purposes, or you want to use the programs for any purpose other than as permitted under this agreement, you must obtain a production release version of the program by contacting us or an Oracle reseller to obtain the appropriate license. You acknowledge that we may not produce a production release version of the program and any development efforts undertaken by you are at your own risk. We may audit your use of the programs. Program documentation, if available, may accessed online at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/documentation/index.html.
Install Forms & Reports and the Database on Oracle Enterprise Linux and you won't even have to pay licenses for your OS.
    cheers

  • Migrating Oracle forms and reports from 6i to 10g Application server on Uni

    HI Guys,
We are migrating from Oracle forms and reports 6i to 10g.
We will be having application server on Unix box.
I understand following will be the changes i will have to do in this respect -
    1. Fonts are to be revisited only Java fonts are supported.
    2. Obsolete items, function calls, triggers are to be removed.
My question is since this application can be cross platform application,
Can anyone provide me with changes that I will have to do with configuration files like -
    1. Formsweb.cfg,
    2. forms.conf
    3. default.env
    4. registry.dat
Keeping in mind that the application server will be on unix box.
    Thanks,
    Av.

Java fonts are only supported for the Forms version.
You can use your own fonts for Reports however, there is some legwork to do this. I know because I just went through it.
If you will only being using the PDF output (which for me replaced the Preview mode that existed in 6i), then you have to install the TTF for the missing font, an AFM (use the ttf2pt1 utility to generate the AFM file, but make sure you remove the AFM extension when moving it to Unix). You'll want to use the PDF Subset in the uifont.ali (which exists under the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin directory and add the line underneath the PDF Subset "Font Family Name"="TTF Font Name" The font family name is found when you open the AFM file in textpad or wordpad for the font you generated. This is what you enter. The TTF Font Name is the name the TTF font. You'll have to restart Reports Server after this.
If printing to the printer directly is an option you must have, I will tell you it does not work in Linux right now. You can print to the printer but if the font doesn't exist on the internal memory of the printer, it won't work. There are 3rd party utilities like ORARRP and PDFPrint that can take care of this but, each has its own limitations. The one thing I found with ORARRP is if you generate a Report with an RRPA file extension and open it on Windows, it works great, the printer dialog comes up asking you what printer you want to print too. However, if you call this in Linux/Unix with the filename, it brings it up in the web browser but doesn't prompt you for your printer to print too automatically. So, for me, it's a show stopper. My only other option is to install the fonts on the printer that are missing.
As for the files you want to change, you'll obviously have to make changes to the formsweb.cfg, default.env, forms.conf. I have to modify the reports.sh for some PL/SQL attached libraries to make sure it picks them up. I did have to modify Registry.dat.
There is alot of work but mainly forms wasn't too bad, unless you had fonts that weren't supported. Usually there is another font that you can use to replace the old one but you have to know which fonts exists on the server and try all the keys on the keyboard to find the corresponding keystroke.
    Hope this helps.

  • Deploying Forms and Reports 6i runtime with my application

I'm trying (for a year or two) to find out Oracle's recommended and proven method of packaging Forms and Reports 6i runtime components with my application. I've tried the 6.0 File Packager, the Project Builder Delivery Wizard, and the Oracle Software Packager. I'm still working with OSP but their doesn't seem any mention of runtime inclusion the User Guide or Tool. This is a basic need for anyone doing mass deployment on client/server environments. I know someone at Oracle knows the answer. Please help me! I'm desperate! Also, please realize that a custom install of runtimes from the Developer disks is not an option in our scenario.

    I had the same problem.
I resolve with a new third party tool:
    RunDev
    I've found it on:
    solutionmarketplace.oracle.com
    searching "rundev".

  • Oracle Application server Forms and Report services 10.1.2.0.2 on Windows 2

    Hi,
I am installing the Oracle Application server Forms and Report services 10.1.2.0.2 on Windows 2003 R2, but the problem is that setup is not running on this Windows 2003 R2 version.
Any idea about this why it is not running.
    Regards,
    Iftikhar

    You asked this
How can i find what is the latest version that i can upgrade this install to
I told you where to find the last update, I checked that version yesterday, the last update is 10.1.2.3, my misstake was to put a 0 before the 3.
You can go to Patches & update>Quick Links to: Latest Patchsets, Mini Packs and Maintenance Packs>Oracle Fussion Middle Ware> Look for you OS versión and CPU> No clic just put pointer over the links and you will see the last one.
And finaly could look for the CPU of Jul and Apr that as requirement they ask for version 10.1.2.3 (as I say I checked yesterday)
    Greetings.

    Hi there,
I want to install Oracle Application Server 10g Forms and Reports Services. What must I download? The installation guide says that "Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) Forms and Reports Services allows you to install and configure Forms and Reports Services without the need to install and configure all of Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4)" but it does not clearly state what exactly to download.

  • Starting/Stopping Application Server Forms and Reports

    Hello,
Are there any scripts (like dbstart and dbshut for Oracle DB) for starting and stopping "Application Server Forms and Reports". If not, any special suggestions?
I must automatically start this application on Unix. I know that during starting some steps must be performedy by the root user (export DISPLAY env variable and issue the "xhost +" command) and later the oracle user must do some things( export ORACLE_HOME and DISPLAY and issue the "opmnctl startall" command). Does anybody have scripts like that?
    Regards,
    Tim

If you're on 10.1.2, there is a script (requires an X Windows session). It's called runstartupconsole.sh, but you've got to update the install type to Portal in the ias.properties file if I remember right. It looks cool, but a shell script works better.
Here is a shell script that does some of those things. You still need to run xhost+ after running a display if you're using something that requires a DISPLAY to start. Someone may have a better one, but this one works.
We actually use one that starts all the different components individually except for Reports in rc scripts. That is the only thing we have that needs a Display set to start. So then xhost + is run & at the same time, the Unix sysadmin runs a script that start Reports from opmn.
    I hope this is useful.
    Cordially,
    Steve

  • How to set Forms and Reports on an Oracle Application Server

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how can i implement my all forms and reports on an Application Server. Please tell me in details cause i don't have enough knowledge abt AS.
    Thanks in Advance
    Arif

    Hi Arif,
You can install AS Forms and Reports Standalone if you do not need infrastructure services like OID and SSO
It is available for download from OTN search for Standalone on AS 10g R2 download page, then deploy your Forms and Reports there.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Well you just need to create a directory in paste your forms there, and then make an entry in the formsweb.cfg file and forms.conf files. Likewise there are entries for the images and report.
