Forms Builder10gR2 on Windows7, 64-bit
Hi:
I have installed DeveloperSuite 10gR2 on my new Windows7 machine.
As per numerous posts on the web, I set it's compatibility mode to XP sevice pack 2 and ran it as administrator.
Forms Builder opens OK and I can create a new form, but when I attempt to open an existing FMB file, I get a pop-up stating "*+Oracle Forms Designer has Stopped Working+*" and the program terminates.
I then installed patch *5983622* to upgrade to 10.1.2.3...
The problem was not fixed.
Other than trashing Windows7 and going to XP SP3, any suggestions?
I did installing Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC and works very well even running forms / reports builder from the start menu of win 7.

Hi,
I have a new Windows7 64-bit laptop and copied my ADF and other FMW apps to the new laptop from my windows XP. I am using Jdev 11.1.1.5 on the prior XP and the new Windows7.
The applications ran fine in XP and I am able to run the the JSPX pages in the windows7 but for one critical issue.
I have a page that issues a query to a web service and is able to display the results in a table. The table rows have links to call a managed bean to prepare then uses an Action to display the results in a new form page. The two pages are in an unbounded task flow. When I click on the link I don't see any debug messages from the bean and don't see the Form page but I see in the logs:
<Warning> <Socket> <BEA-000449> <Closing socket as no data read from it on 127.0.0.1:49,319 during the configured idle timeout of 5 secs>
I never had such issue with XP. (note I used the same Jdev 11.1.1.5 software for both)
Also I have the same application running on a Linx server and when I tested to click on the link from the result table also I never see the Form page when using Windows7 but works fine with XP !?
Can we use Windows 7 with ADF and WebCenter applications? This critical since my client users are planning to upgrade to Windows7.
Is there a special configurations to resolve such issue and others that I still didn't test.

I was using IE 9 on windows7 and IE 8 on XP. I now tested with Firefox 64-bit, which is named Namoroka since that was the 64-bit version I found, and I didn't have such issue, surpised.
My client must use IE since we also have Siebel which uses ActiveX and many government agencies are certified on IE.
(Note: when using Namoroka, I keep getting a popup when move from one page to another that: "You are using an unsupported browser. The supported browsers are Interner Explorer 7 and higher, Firefox 2.0.0.2 and higher, Safari 3.1.2 and higher, and Google Chrome 1.0 or higher. )
From what I see now can't upgrade to windows7, but I did see that many are using it. So please help in what you already solved this issue.

Please help me how to install mac drivers for windows7 64 bit???You either download drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant and save to USB FAT disk, or you insert and use 10.6.x OS X DVD when in Windows and install and run the SETUP from there.

Step 4: Install the Boot Camp Drivers for Windows
After installing Windows, install Mac-specific drivers and other software for Windows using your Mac OS X installation disc. The Mac OS X disc installs drivers to support Mac components, including AirPort,built-in iSight camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and thefunction keys on an Apple keyboard.
The Mac OS X disc also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows and theApple Boot Camp system tray item.
To install the Boot Camp drivers:
1 Eject the Windows installation disc.
2 Insert the Mac OS X disc. If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
3 Follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input.
If nothing appears to be happening, there may be a hidden window that you mustrespond to. Check the taskbar and look behind open windows.
Important: Do not click the Cancel button in any of the installer dialogs.
4 After your computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New Hardware Wizard to update your software drivers (Windows XP only).
5 Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.
6 Check for updated Boot Camp drivers by using Apple Software Update or going to www.apple.com/support/bootcamp.
If You Have Problems Installing the Device Drivers
If it appears that the Boot Camp drivers weren’t successfully installed, try repairing them.
To repair Boot Camp drivers:
1 Start up your computer in Windows.
2 Insert your Mac OS X installation disc.
3 If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
4 Click Repair and follow the onscreen instructions.

FredAfrmCgAz, can you set the document you are trying to print to be separate pages? If you can I would set it up to print that way, though this might mean that you have to adjust margins/allow borderless printing.
What program are you trying to print from? What is the file type (.jpg, .png, .pdf, etc)?

Acrobat Reader X freezing in Windows7 64-bit

I am using Acrobat Reader v10.0.1 in Windows7 (64-bit) with 12Gb of RAM and I encounter freezing of the application nearly every time I use it. This 'freezing' is observed as the image on the screen losing large portions of text or buttons with the applications faling to respond to any inputs. It seems to occur more on larger files but it is not limited to this. I also notice that I show multiple instances of the Acrobat.exe in task manager even though I have closed all but one document. In order to get around this problem, I have been killing all acrobat processes in task manager and then re-opening the documents I am reading. I can then work with those documents for awhile (awhile is a variable amount of time). I have uninstalled and re-installed version 10 and all of my video drivers are up to date. This is the only application that appears to freeze on this (new) computer.
ps. I have looked through the forums for a similar problem but none of them (I haven't gone through ALL of them yet) seem to match what I am seeing.Over there http://forums.adobe.com/thread/850202?tstart=0 I suggested Microsoft's Virtual XP as a possible solution
Have you tried that to see if it works? (the link I provided was an example for one program... the Virtual XP mode is not just for that one program, it is for any 32bit program that does not want to work with Win7)
Also... you may right click the Reader icon and select a compatibility mode to see if that helps -

There is no 32 bit driver for the AMD/Intel switchable graphics so nobody has succesfully gotten everything to work on W7 32 bit.
You can get every other driver but the graphics and what good is that? -

I have a small production client looking to run 1 workstation running Mac Lion 10.7.3 and two work stations running Windows7 64 bit. They will all be talking to the same storage array through 8Gb FC. What is there most cost effective way to do this?

The client has already made the jump to 8Gb including HBA's, switch and RAID Storage.
The other question will be if they need a seperate Mac Server to run the Meta Data or are they able to use the current Mac they are running to do this?
The Mac is a 201073 model they say with 12 Dual Core 2.66Mhz processors and 16 GB of Memory. This system is currently doing rendering. It has the XSAN Client but I understand for the solution to work they need to also run XSAN Server on a MDC. -

Try the following.
First, uninstall Skype and when this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has reloaded, download and reinstall the Chipset driver Here.
When the installation has finished, restart the notebook again.
Let windows fully load, then download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.
Let Windows fully load, then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, restart the notebook again.
Reinstall Skype and see if the Mic now works Ok.

- Use Net Configuration Assistant, from DS menu, to create the same in tnsnames.ora
- Use the Easy Connect Naming Method, which doesn't need tnsnames.ora. In this case, when connecting from Forms builder, as database you have to specify "<database hostname or IP address>/<database service name>", for example "ada-PC/orcl" (change orcl with yours). -

Anand.1GB of RAM seems to work better. I just upgraded to 1GB from 512MB on a new ThinkPad running XP, 10g release 2 database, and 10.1.2 Application Server (Forms and Reports version). When I had 512, something broke and I wound up resetting the factory defaults using the IBM recovery tool. When I added the extra memory, everything went well. On the other hand, a four-year-old Dell desktop with 512MB works okay. Whatever.
