Hi Vishal,
Recently, the content on OTN was moved, so the old links will no longer work. Our OTN pages have been updated with new link locations, including a new "Conversions" section on the Learn More page - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/learnmore/index.html. If you follow the link for Oracle Forms Conversions, that will take to you to the Oracle Application Express for Oracle Forms Developers page - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/apex-for-forms-098747.html - and at the end of this page you'll find a link to the related Oracle By Example (OBE) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/testcontent/apex32frmmigr-095892.html. The files associated with this OBE can be downloaded here:http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/testcontent/forms-conversion-133504.zip.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Hilary

What is forms builder version for R12 ? prob. for 6i forms ?
hi..guys..
Currently we have oracle apps..11.5.10-----> forms version 6i
Now, we are upgrading apps to R12...so all the custom forms which are in 6i needs to be migrated to forms 10g so they can be compatible with oracle EBS release 12.
So, I am opening forms which were created using 6i in form builder 10g. Then getting connected with the database created for R12...so it takes R12 library references...so at this time forms builder 10g is crashing......
I am using FORMS 32 BIT VERSION 9.0.4.0.19 (PRODUCTION)..Oracle Developer Suite 10g...to modify and compile 6i forms...so I can put them on R12 instance...
Problem is everytime I try to compile 6i form after opening it in 10g forms builder, it crashes ....so what is the best way to compile 6i forms to make them compatible with R12 ....?
thanks...Does this happen to all forms or certain ones only?
You need to open the forms in Form Builder 10g (Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2)), compile it, save it then upload it back to the server.

I remember that the ant task has had some bugs. You can use the exec task and execute ojdeploy directly. Then you don't even need to include the path elements as you use the jdev project which includes all the information.
ojdeploy.executable=path_to_your_jdev_installation/jdev/bin/ojdeploy.exe

Ant build script for SOA application
Hi All,
I am trying to write a build script to handle deployments from the Linux server which host the SOA environment. Also, I am using Subversion as my version control on a different machine. I found a sample example of building using ant script, but this is applicable if the source code is based locally. But what if it is in remote version control
ant -f ant-sca-package.xml
-DcompositeDir=C:\po\POProcessing\POProcessing
-DcompositeName=POProcessing
-Drevision=1.0
-Dscac.application.home=C:\po\POProcessing
Please suggest how to go with the build script.
Thanks
JigoHas anybody tried getting the source code from subversion for ant build of a SOA composite.
Thanks -

Charting within Web-PL/SQL Application - advice required please
Currently trying to enhance our Designer generated Web-PL/SQL application by including charting.
There is no provision to do this within Designer so are exploring other solutions, specifically using a server side servlet to render a chart as a gif, returning this to the client HTML page.
Has anyone got any recommendations on what to use to do this?
We've tried with limited success calling the Portal servlet (called chart) due to lack of documentation and relience on certain Portal procedures. We're currently experimenting with Oracle Chartbuilder, which looks promising, but would really like to know what the recommended or favorite solution is!
Any feedback appreciated!

Right now, I am displaying a table in the web by selecting all the records from a particular table.
This is how I do it.Not a great way to display a report. This is not re-usable code. Difficult to maintain. Difficult to add or change the presentation of data.
The proper way to do it, will be to use a DBMS_SQL cursor. After the cursor is opened, you use the describe function on the cursor that returns the number of columns in the cursor, the names of the columns, and their data types.
This data is then used to fetch a column value from the cursor, and render it (as per its data type). This can easily be extended to make use of reporting templates and defaults and even style sheets to make rendering easy and flexible.
DBMS_SQL is detailed in the [Oracle® Database PL/SQL Packages and Types Reference|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/d_sql.htm#BABEDAHF] guide.
Should I include a search engine? or how should I go about it? Is there a way to break the table into smaller parts using the dealer id?Why not use APEX? The above method that I've described is what is employed by APEX. So instead of writing that yourself, having to deal with dynamic variable binding, pagination, web state and security and so on.. APEX does all of this, and more, for you. -
Step by step for videora .... please read i dont want to tell 100 people
okay here it is.
1.go to google, search for videora, find the videora converter (thats free) DOWNLOAD IT
2. start up the videora converter and click transcode new video, find the video in your files from ares/limewire or whereever and click it.
3. see the thing beside it that says "New transcoding", once you've clicked a file from #2 press START (do not fiddle with the settings they make it so that your ipod reads the information)
4. it will take minutes to hours depending on how big the file is.
5. once it is CONVERTED (be patient) : go to itunes click file at the top -> go to add file to library .
6. okay your file is in a folder that looks something like this: C:\Program Files\VideoraiPodConverter\Videos . therefore you need to find wherever you uploaded your program (videora) and find the file
labelled "videoraipodconverter" (unless you changed it)
7. once you find this file (in program files most likely) click on "videos" and your video should be there, uploaded and converted
8. there, you're done and it should play both sound and video on your ipod
okay, so enough topic dicussions about this.
please leave comments where i am too vague or it doesn't work and happy holidays
PS: if you're downloading from a CD or DVD you have to save it in a file before you can convert it. Try saving it in "my music"
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR windows XP not MAC
thanks,
KMokay you have to find where it exports your files
go to the converter...
and click "setup"
and check where it says "export videos to" like on mine it says C:\Program Files\VideoraiPodConverter\Videos
but your computer could have it somewhere else
so whereever it says it exports it to is where you can find it
and about the uploading in 2 seconds, thats weird is the "quality profile" under "new transcoding" :
MPEG-4/320x240/768kbps Stereo/128kbps
if not select that from the drop down list
and how long is your file/how big? -

Hi,
I cannot open a form from a batch on Windows if the absolute path contains spaces.
For example, if I try to open a form in "C:\" from cmd with C:\ORANT\bin\ifbld60.exe C:\Form.fmb, I have no problem, if I try to open a form in "C:\Documents and Settings" with C:\ORANT\bin\ifbld60.exe "C:\Documents and Settings\Form.fmb" or C:\ORANT\bin\ifbld60.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Form.fmb, I have some dialog with info and the error FRM-90927 and form builder doesn't start.
Thank you,

Why is that you want to open a FMB in Form Builder with a Batch file?
Is it that your application has only one FMB and that you work with only one FMB all the time?
Cheers,
PS: And if you must open the FMB through a batch file then look up the Form Builder Help for "Command Line options". It is an excellent resource.

Forms services and form builder
Hi,
We are installing Oracle Forms 10g Application Server 10.1.2.0.2. What is difference between
Form Services and Form Builder. Which one developer should be used for migration,qa purpose?
Thanks
sandySandy,
Oracle Forms Services is a part of the Oracle Application Server and is used by the apps server to display a Form built with Oracle Forms. Forms run inside a Java container in a Web Browser (Internet Explorer, etc.).
Oracle Forms Builder is a Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool used for creating user interface applications. Your developer will use the Forms Builder to create new or modify existing Forms applications.
I'm not sure what you mean by Migration and QA. Are you migrating from an older version of the Forms Builder? As to QA, who ever is performing the QA would need the Forms Builder only if they need to look at the PL/SQL code in a Form for standards compliance, proper logic, etc.
Hope this helps.

Steps for Variant Configuration
Hi Gurus,
Can any body tell me step by step procedure for variant configuration.
My e-mail id. <REMOVED>
Regds.......
SumitHi Sumit,
Variant configuration is for manufacturing complex products. The manufacturer always has to offer new variants of its products. Often, new variants are created by modifying existing product designs as you process the order. The important thing is to react quickly to customers' requirements.
The customer determines the features of the product. A customer buying a car, for example, can choose the features of the car and combine these features as required.
The product configurator improves information exchange between sales, engineering, and production. Variant configuration helps the customer or salesperson to put together specifications for the product and ensure that the product can be produced from these specifications. It also ensures that production costs do not overstep the mark.
Procedure -
Create a Material - KMAT type with Item category (002)
Create Characteristics in CT04 - Zbike, where in values mention the Color of the bile like Red, Blue etc
Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND (ABAP Dictionary it will ask for)
Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - ZBikeclass (Type 300) in characteristics tab page.
Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment i.e. assign Zbikclass.
Now go back to CT04 - enter Zbike -go to values- select Red- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Select Procedure enter in front 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Red' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now select Blue- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Editor - Select Procedure enter in front of 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Blue' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition) (For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure) - enter variant Red and Blue give the rates accordingly and create the sales order.

from these specifications. It also ensures that production costs do not overstep the

Integration
Variant configuration is integrated in the following applications:
a.. CA Classification
b.. LO Material Master
c.. PP Bill of Material
d.. PP Routings
e.. PP-PI Master Recipes
f.. SD Sales
g.. SD Conditions
h.. MM Purchasing
i.. CO Costing
j.. PP Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
k.. PP Production Orders
You can configure the following objects:
a.. Materials
b.. Standard networks in the Project System.
c.. PM General maintenance task lists
d.. Model service specifications
Features
You do not need to create a separate material for each variant of a product in your
company. You can use one configurable material to cover all variants. You create a
super BOM and a super routing for this material, containing all the components and
operations for producing all variants of the product.
To define the features of a configurable material, you use characteristics. To
enable you to use characteristics to configure a material, you assign the material
to a class of class type 300. Possible characteristics of a car, for example, are
model, country, color, and engine. The customer can choose from among different
options for each characteristic (values).
The only limitations are combinations of features that are not possible for either
technical or marketing reasons. You cannot combine all types of car engine with all
types of transmission, for example, or certain types of upholstery are only
available for more expensive models. In Variant Configuration, you use dependencies
to control this. This prevents combinations of options that are not allowed.
Dependencies also select exactly the right BOM components and operations to produce
a variant.
Each configurable object must have a configuration profile. The configuration
profile for a material controls the configuration process in the sales order.
You can make the price of a variant dependent on the characteristic values assigned
(Pricing). You can use variant conditions to define surcharges and discounts for a
variant.
For variants that are required frequently, you can create material variants, which
can be produced without a sales order and kept in stock. When you receive a sales
order, you can check whether the variant required is in stock, so that you can
deliver immediately.
