Forms built with 9 not saving with Adobe reader X

I have many computers that are running Adobe reader X.  when they are attempting to save a form that was built in Adobe 9.x, a msg dictates that they are unable to save file.  How can I rectify this without downgrading my Adobe to 9 accross our system.

Downgrading to Adobe Reader 9 will not solve the problem because the issue is Reader was designed not to save completed forms.
You can use Acrobat 9 to add Extended Reader Rights to PDF forms and that enabled copy can be saved with form data by Acrobat X.
You will be restricted to 500 returned forms for each form. Above that limit you should contact Adobe about their LiveCycle server product.

  • Livecycle ES Form bug with Adobe Reader 9

My firm is currently upgrading certain people to Adobe Reader 9.  I have created fillabe forms using Livecycle ES (Adobe Professional 8) and distribute these forms using the "distribute" function in Adobe Professional 8.  The forms are sent back using a submit button with a "mailto" script.  When the users send the form back to me using this submit button (and using Adobe Reader 8), the form was submitted automatically without opening new email message box.  Now, the updraded users (adobe 9) are hitting the submit button and it is opening up a new email message box instead of sending the form automatically through the email server (outlook). What can I do to make the submit button work correctly with Adobe 9?  or is there a default setting in Adobe 9 that needs to be changed? I have already tried extending user rights and that did not change the way the form was sent back to me. Thanks, Jen

Actually, this was an upgrade when the users were upgraded to Adobe Reader 8.  I distribute the form via Adobe 8 Professional.  I have 2 submit buttons on my form.  The 1st submit button is visible and the users click.  If all required fields are filled out, then the 2nd submit button (which is invisible) sends the form back to me via email (using the script mailto:[email protected]).  This is done so that the form cannot be sent without filling out the required fields.  Also, I distribute the form via the distribution function in Adobe Professional 8, so that a Dataset file is set up for returned forms. I really like this function, but now Adobe Reader 9 doesn't allow it.
If anyone has a fix for this, please help.
    Thanks,
    Jen

  • Reading Preferences not saving in Adobe Reader 11

When Adobe Reader updates, it resets the setting (GUI--Edit--Preferences--Reading--Page vs Documents --to default instead of "read only current visible pages".  This causing some printing documents to "hang" in the preparing pages to print dialog box.  Once I go in and reset this option, I no longer have issue.  Is there a way to "lock" this setting in a GPO without having to touch every PC?  I have 200+ PC in the work environment and the hands on resolution is very time consuming.

  • Form will not open with adobe reader when using chrome and mozilla

The form opens fine in internet explorer, but when opened with chrome and mozilla it says that parts of the document could not be displayed and the 'submit form' and 'print' functions do not work? how do I get it so that the forms open with adobe reader as a pdf automatically instead of opening in another search engine tab?
    Thanks

    Hi
Chrome and Firefox use their default PDF viewers instead of Adobe Acrobat / Reader and hence most PDFs will not be fully functional in those.
For that you just need to change the settings :-

My question is why if I open it with acrobat then the form able to be saved but it can not be saved if I open with adobe reader ?
    Need suggestion for this matter

You need to Reader Extend the form to work with Adobe Reader..
Open the same file in Adobe Acrobat and goto Advanced Menu -> Extend Features in Adobe Reader and save the file..

  • Can an editable form be saved so it cant be edited again with Adobe Reader?

Im creating PDF forms for someone.  They are using Adobe Reader to fill out the form fields on the PDF.  They will be sending it off to others after.  What I want to know is with Reader, is there a way that after they fill out the information, they can save it so it cant be re-edited or anything?

You would have to set up a button, bookmark, or something else that when triggered runs a script that sets the fields to read-only. You will have to set this up in Acrobat before you Reader-enable the document and distribute it.
Here's some code that sets a single field to read-only:
    getField("Text1").readonly = true;

  • Fillable Forms Created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0

I created a fillable form using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0. Prior to using the form for clients we sent it around to numerous people to make sure it's working properly. We have experienced problems with users that are using older versions of Reader or full versions of Acrobat (5.0 & 6.0). Some problems we have had:
1.) We understand you cannot save the filled out form in older versions, but some users are not even able to print the form (the program shuts down). When the form is opened in an older version it lets the user know that they cannot save the form and it must be printed if they need a copy, but we had one user using version Acrobat version 7.0 that received this message.
2.) Users with full versions of Acrobat 7.0 have been able to fill out the form and save it, but when the form gets back to us it is blank.
3.) Users with Acrobat and Reader 7.0 cannot use the print button, it just does not work.
We were looking to see if there is a way of saving a fillable form down to an older version to see if this can solve our problem. I have not had any luck finding out how to do that. If anyone knows how to do this could you let me know? If not I guess we will go back to the old fashioned way of having the user print the form and fill it out.
    Thank you!

I'm actually having the exact same problem. I imported a form into Designer 7.0 as an Adobe Reader 6.0 "compatible" form. At first, there were several warning messages in various fields but I changed all of these fields so that they would be compatible. The form works in 6.0, however, whenever a user initially opens the form in 6.0 a message pops up promting the user to upgrade to 7.0 for the form to work. Over half of our users are running Adobe Reader 6.0 so any information on how to prevent this dialouge from coming up would be very appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jeff

  • File does not begin with '%pdf' error with adobe reader 10.1.5 onwards

In our web application we are using activePDF toolkit (3rd party component) to fill up carrier forms on the fly which are PDF files.
The output file processed by the above library works fine when opened with adobe reader 8, 9 and10 on end user’s browser (IE); however, it gives below error when opening with adobe reader 11.
Till now, we have tried different settings at IIS level, Internet explorer e.t.c. suggested on different internet posts. However, we are still facing the problem.
While analyzing this we have come across following link
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-error-1015-11001-update.html
According to this adobe 10.1.5 onward file should only start with "%pdf". If file start with other than this we get file corrupted message.
Before we can communicate this message to client we want to confirm this for experts. Please let me know my assumption is right?

Rahti - i'm having the same issue but I not familiar with the steps outlined in the Adobe link below
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-error-1015-11001-update.html
Would you be able to help with how I can navigate to this on my PC to correct it for me.
    Thanks.

  • Auto populating a form with Adobe Reader

    Hi,
I have a few questions regarding fillable forms- any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Basically, I'm trying to make a fillable form that users can fill in with adobe reader. Within the same document, I need a page that will have several fields that will auto-populate based on the user responses typed into earlier fields. Is this possible to do? I haven't purchased acrobat yet, but if it's possible to make a form like this, then I'll buy the program. I know it's possible to do something similar in MS word, but I find those forms really clunky and they're a pain to use with locking/unlocking etc. Ultimately, I need a form that is very simple to use and can be filled in (including the auto-populate function) with just a basic adobe reader, as not everyone using the form would have acrobat. I also need some options for making the final auto-populating form aesthetically pleasing. Would acrobat do the job?
    Thanks again for your help!

You might want to explain exactly what you mean by "autopopulate". The answer is yes, it's certainly possible, but may need some scripting depending on exactly what it is you want to do.
Regarding aesthetics, that's up to you. Normally you'd create the form layout in a program such as InDesign, Word, or whatever else you have available and use Acrobat to convert the source document to PDF. You'd then add the interactive form fields in Acrobat and set them up to behave as you want.
Note that you can download the trial version of Acrobat and use it for a while before you need to buy it: www.adobe.com/go/tryacrobatpro/

  • Adobe Form Calling WebService Doesnu00B4t work with Adobe Reader 7

    Hi experts,
We have created and adobe form that simulates a PM Notification in which the user, without logging into SAP, through an RFC and WebServices can create the notification into SAP.
This process only works with Adobe Reader 9 and not with Adobe Reader 7.
Can anyone tell me what main difference/component/functionality does Adobe Reader 9 have that Adobe Reader 7 doesn´t?
When I call the Webservice through the form in Adobe 7, a pop-up message appears that says:
"Error attempting to read from file.
    http://desaecc6.codelco.cl:8001/sap/bc/rfc/sap/zi_aviso_adobe_pm12/222/zi_aviso_adobe_pm12/zi_aviso_adobe_pm12"
Any ideas why this error ocurrs only in Adobe Reader 7?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Fernando Montenegro

    Hello,
I cannot tell what are the exact differencies between the version. But I can tell you should always use (at least try to use the newest Reader). I guess you´re not the only developer on Forms, so there are possibly more people depending on the version of the client browser/ Reader. There is a solution for this problem, which does not ask anything from you, only the user.
You can easily test the Reader version through JS coding and act based on the result. I use this like this "if your Reader is lower than 8.1" then "message popup = We are sorry, your Reader is too old, this form won´t work for you. Please upgrade first.". It takes like 5 minutes (10 for lame users at max) to update his Reader.
Maybe you should this about such a test, if the user passes the test, his application won´t have any problem, if not there is no guarantee. And YOU have no problem, nobody tells you "hey sir, your form is not working, I´m not gonna pay you".

  • Form is filled on iPad then emailed.  If form is opened with Adobe Reader all text is visible, but if opened with Acrobat XI no text is visible.

Form filled on ipad.  When opened with Adobe Reader all text is visible, but if opened with Acrobat XI no text is visible- form is blank.   Have been using this system for months with  no problems.

That suggestion makes sense and likely works, but only if the user is on a machine that will allow them to use Reader. I'm sending this out to a lot of teachers, who are using machines either at school, or are school-issued machines, and they don't have the admin privileges to install software-- even Reader.
so my problem is, if they are stuck on a machine without Reader, and without the possibility of having Reader... it's just not going to work because Preview can't handle these functions.
And, since that is not an acceptable answer with what I'm trying to do... I will find another way to create/submit forms. I think there are some online possibilities I will have to make work.
    very, very disappointing and frustrating.

  • Forms created with Adobe Professional 10 can't be printed

    Hi,
For some reason I have the problem that I have several forms and I want my clients to fill those out. The forms were created in Adobe Professional 9, and later created with the Adobe Professional 10 or actually with Adobe LiveCycle Designer. The forms were created in Word and adapted in livecycle designer.
On my computer I as well have Adobe Reader 7. The forms are then sent from the customer back to me, but I can not print them using Adobe Professional 10, But there is the possibility to open the forms with Adobe Reader 7 and print it which works just fine.
Now, the customer has to print out some forms on their own to sign them and send them back to us. As far as I am informed the customer has Adobe Reader 8 or 9, depending on the the department they work in.
About a solution I would be very grateful.
    Thanks in
    advance!

The forms are then sent from the customer back to me, but I can not print them using Adobe Professional 10,
What happens when you print the forms?

  • I need to know if my membership(s) with Adobe Reader XI, Adobe Forms Central and Acrobat XI products are still active?  If so; when does my membership(s) due to expire?

    Hello,
I just solved this problem on my computer.
Windows 7 comes with only one "Voice" installed. "Microsoft Anna - English (United States)" I'm not sure what you get if your in another country.
You can test your "Voice/Voices" by running Microsoft Narrator. Click [Start] button and type "Narrator" in the [search programs and files] box. Press [Enter]. Your computer should begin talking. Click [Voice Settings] button to see a list of installed voices. Take note of the voices listed. "Mine has just the one."
Adobe Reader must have a voice selected that you have installed. To verify your settings Run Adobe Reader. From the top menu click [Edit] then click [Preferences] at the bottom of the list. In the Preferences window click [Reading] from the left hand list. Find "Read Out Loud Options" Un-check [Use default voice] Choose a voice from the drop down menu that you have verified is installed on your computer. Click [OK]
My Adobe Reader had 4 voices listed to choose from. I found this curious because I only have one voice.
    Hope that helps.

  • How can I print just a part of the page and not the full page with Adobe Reader v 10.1.2?

how can I print just a part of the page and not the full page with Adobe Reader v 10.1.2? I need to print a engineering print with lot of information but information is too small in letter size and I don't have a plotter.

Two ways to print a portion of a page: zooming or using the Snapshot Tool.
    ZOOMING:
Zoom into the area you want to print.
    Click the Print icon.
Under "Pages to Print", make sure "Current view" is selected under "More options" (you may need to click "More options" to open it).
If you aren't satisfied with the preview, try clicking "Fit" under the Size button.
    SNAPSHOT
Choose Edit > Take A Snapshot.
Drag a rectangle around the area you want to print.
    Click the Print icon.
Under "Pages to Print", make sure that "Selected Graphic" is selected under "More options".
To enlarge the snapshot to fit the sheet of paper, choose "Fit" under the Size button.
    Hope this helps!
