Forms Developer 9.0.2.9 Hangs at Run Form

Hello:
I'm using Oracle 9i with Forms Developer 9.0.2.9. I am able to develop and compile forms but am not able to run forms. The IE6.0 window opens but hangs. No applet array appears. I have started jinitator(sp) and OJC4. There are no spaces in the path to my .fmb file.
I was able to run forms for a while but then it just started hanging. My guess is that some setting changed? Something with Java?
Any help would be appreciated as my semester long project is due next week.
Linda

Pamela,
Tried following thos steps. It still hangs at the same place unfortunately. I did notice a number of Java Console icons appearing and disappearing. A java problem maybe?
Thanks
Linda

  • Xcode Installation Hangs on "Running Installer Scripts"

    Hi, I'm trying to install Xcode to take advantage of their gcc and make files. However, no matter what I do, Xcode installation hangs on "Running Installer Scripts". Searching on Google did not give me any help. I can't quit the process either. Here's a screen shot:
    http://lh4.ggpht.com/_id4E4GFQud0/SfvsNwDdDaI/AAAAAAAACnI/23tE3vWw3vk/Snapshot%2 02009-05-02%2001-44-41.png
    Could you please advice on what can possibly go wrong?
    I'm running OS 10.5.6, and installing Xcode directly from the Mac OS X Disc 1 CD. In the CD document, it says Xcode Developer Tools 3.0 for Mac OS 10.5.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the details of what you've tried. Every detail you can remember increases the chance that someone can spot the problem.
    My read is that you've documented beyond much doubt that a clean install is what you need. Restoring your system was a good try, but I don't think that would change much outside of the /system folder. Even if we think it did, the evidence you provided tells me that some files from the first Xcode installation remain. I would be looking for files created on that date and checking perms in places like the root directory, /tmp, /usr/share/sandbox, etc. I would also advise renaming /Developer as written in the +Book of the Dead+. I didn't invent that instruction; it was distilled from dozens of case histories in this forum.
    You might also try one of the 3rd party tools that's out there for cleaning Macs. I've never tried any of them though, so can't make a recommendation.
    Oh... erm... You did restart your Mac at some point since the problems started, right?
    Re installing only gcc, have you been to the Developer Tools page at the connect.apple.com site? Select Downloads on the home page, and in the next page select Developer Tools from the lower right panel. I found 2 downloads that appear to be full gcc installers: Xcode Legacy Tools and GCC 4.2 Developer Preview 1. The other gcc downloads seem to be updates. I might try gcc 3.1 in the legacy tools. It's probably all you need, and if not you'd be good to go for an update.
    Of course, you could always download directly from the gnu site, just you might need to be a rocket scientist to install one of those packages. I'm guessing it would be a learning experience. There's also something to be said for using a 3rd party installer, since it probably wouldn't be affected by whatever is stopping the Apple installer(s).
    Sure hope some small part of the above turns out to be useful. But in any case, please let us know how you resolve the problem.

  • Upgrade seems to be hanging at Running upg/307/wwv/wwvupd2.csh

    Hi,
    I am running the Portal 306 to 309 upgrade scripts in the following environment.
    OS - Solaris
    Database - 8.1.7.2
    9iAS - 1.0.2.2
    The upgrade seems to be hanging at Running upg/307/wwv/wwvupd2.csh. It has been stuck at this point for the past 36 hours. The process list contains the following process:
    /bin/csh -f upg/307/wwv/wwvupd2.csh -sn WEBDB -sp webdb@wdb -rsp webdb -cs wdb
    Querying the v$sessions table shows that there are no current sql sessions
    Anyone knows what is happening here?? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks & Rgds,
    Rupesh

    Hi,
    Upon inspection of the pupgrade script it was found that the
    script upg/307/wwv/wwvupd2.csh was using SQL Plus to connect to
    the portal demo schema (PORTAL_SCHEMA_NAME_DEMO). However, since
    we had upgraded to portal 306 from webdb 2.2 we don't have such a
    schema. The upgrade guide does not ask you to create the DEMO
    schema before starting the process. Therefore the script fails at
    this point.
    Rgds,

    No answers, but some more questions:
    Before diving into the JNI stack trace, what does "hang" mean? Are there other threads running in your program? Is this the main thread?
    Looking at the stack -- and Googling libhpi.so didn't turn up much for me, other than similar complaints -- it looks like it's an output routine. What are you writing to? A local disk, or one that's remote mounted?
    Edit: absolute speculation here, but I suspect that it's a routine that's called when an in-memory buffer's full, in order to physically write the data onto whatever medium you're writing too. So probably not worth looking for an actual "buffer overflow" that's damaging memory.

  • Solaris 10 hangs on Running configuration assistant.

    Hi all,
    Yesterday I patched solaris using updatemanager (solaris 10 3/05 for x86 on a fujitsu scenic pc)
    when i was finished i rebooted, goes down fine but when starting up it hangs att Running configuration manager/assistant and i can't get further.
    I have tried to remove all hardware except the bootdisk and graphic-card from the machine, also tried to disable everything in bios that is not needed to boot ie serialports and so on but it stops at the exact same place, the same second as config manager starts the machine freezes.
    Since i have had this installation for a while and have patched it before i draw the conclusion that it's something wrong in the latest patches..
    Anybody else had similar problems???
    Best Regards
    Henrik

  • FYI: New version of Disk Warrior seems to hang when run with Snow Leopard

    FYI: It seems that the new version of Disk Warrior hangs when run in Snow Leopard

    I have been using DW 4.2 on 10.5.8 and the speed-up was the first thing I noted, too, so it isn't just SL.
    Now if it would only 'come up for air' and respond to input to move window (so I can put it where I can see it if needed) I'd like that.
    There is a 23 page review of Snow Leopard on Ars. On page 22:
    People sometimes ask what, exactly, is wrong with HFS+.
    Aside from its obvious lack of the features just listed, HFS+ is limited in many ways by its dated design, which is based on HFS, *a twenty-five year-old file system.*
    To give just one example, the centrally located Catalog File, which must be updated for each change to the file system's structure, is a frequent and inevitable source of contention. Modern file systems usually spread their metadata around, both for robustness (multiple copies are often kept in separate locations on the disk) and to allow for better concurrency.
    Practically speaking, think about those times when you run Disk Utility on an HFS+ volume and it finds (and hopefully repairs) a bunch of errors. *That's bad, okay?* +*That's something that should not happen*+ with a modern, thoroughly checksummed, always-consistent-on-disk file system unless there are hardware problems (and a ZFS storage pool can actually deal with that as well). And yet it happens all the time with HFS+ disks in Mac OS X when various bits of metadata to get corrupted or become out of date.
    Apple gets by year after year, tacking new features onto HFS+ with duct tape and a prayer, but at a certain point there simply has to be a successor—whether it's ZFS, a home-grown Apple file system, or something else entirely. My fingers are crossed for Mac OS X 10.7.
    If Disk Utility was reliable in mapping out weak sectors (it is not) and report/log errors. But it doesn't and I trust my data to other file systems when possible. We've come to expect and depend on 3rd party utilities and that Apple First Aid doesn't fix every possible error.
    Scanning one drive for errors can take a long time. Maybe it needs to be done, maybe in the background. With 2TB drives it gets worse. Spending hours to scan for errors??? I've set TechTool Pro to concurrently scan anywhere from one to a dozen volumes at once.
    An ounce of prevention, as they say, is worth a pound of cure.

  • Jobs are hanging in running status

    Hey ,
    I have some overnight jobs that refresh materialized views over a dblink from a remote db. I came this morning and noticed that some of the jobs where hanging in RUNNING state with "more data from dblink" event but there was no corresponding sessions in the remote db. It seems like the refresh process was already done (by the size of the mviews). Tracing the session is useless (i've tried) since no actual job is being done. The alert log gave no clue.
    any ideas on what the problem is or what to do in order to find it?
    could it be a locking issue ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I think you may need to use normal database hang diagnostic methods to try to figure out what is going on.
    The first thing to do is look in the dba_scheduler_running_jobs view, there should be sessions associates with the running view (you can also check that there are real j0 slave processes running the jobs). Once you have checked that there is a real session that is still running the job maybe you could check the v$session view and any other v$ views that should be able to tell you what SQL statement the job is hanging on. You may also be able to check locks held by those sessions.
    You may also be able to use Oracle's ADDM reporting tools to get some diagnostic info.
    Another possible thing to try is running the job action by hand manually in pl/sql and seeing whether that hangs and possibly figure out where.
    Where do you see the "more data from dblink" message ?

  • Sudo command hangs when run as winbind user

    Hi,
    It even hangs when running:
    $ sudo
    or
    $sudo -V
    So nothing to do with my sudo config - have reverted /etc/sudoers back to default. Even control-c does not work and the process needs to be killed as root, using another session.
    The command works fine when ran as a local user. It is only when running as a winbind user that there's a problem.
    Any help on what tools can be used to find out what's happening while the command is hanging would be much appreciated. Or even better any ideas on how to stop it hanging would be even better!
    Can provide any config files if they help anyone.......
    Many Thanks,

    *** UPDATE ***
    It seems the version of sudo (v1.8*) supplied with Solaris 11 is not compatible with Winbind users.

  • Application hangs while running a report from Forms

    Hi all,
    I am getting a problem regarding running reports from Oracle forms application for printing in a shared printer at client system. There is no problem when I set the DESTYPE to HTMLCSS or FILE. But when I set it to PRINTER then the application hangs and report server gets busy. Once this problem occurs other reports from other client systems are not generating even if this is a HTMLCSS or FILE type.
    The thing is the application has ran successfully for two months. Suddenly from last few days the problem is arising.
    Few things that I have noticed:
    1) When the application hangs I cheked the Task manager, where the process rwlpr.exe is running. If I manually ends the process there the application comes back with a message 'unable to run report'.
    2) I have checked few log files, where I have found few log files whose names end with a job number. The file generates from a succesfully running report shows few steps tht end s with closing the printer. But the file that is generated from an unsuccessfull job stops at the step 'Opening Printer //<machine name>/<printer share name>'.
    3) Then finally I have changed the DESTYPE to file and using the HOST command printing the text file to shared printer in dos mode. Its working fine. But often the first problem arises again.
    What are the possible resons that may cause this problem.
    Looking for your positive response.
    Thanks and regards
    Sandy

    From dos prompt I have used the type commad.
    From server machine in dos prompt I have used,
    type d:\rep.txt > \\<client machine name>\<printer shared name that is connected to client printer>
    from Server machine I have opened a Notepad doc, File >Print >Selected the printer that is in client machine.
    This works fine.
    Now my code to print a report directly to printer,
    V_PRINTERNAME := '\\mmondal\mmondalprn'; -- shared Printer name at Client machine

  • SQL Developer 1.2 for Win hangs on startup

    Hi.
    I have a problem with starting SQL Developer (1.2, JRE included) on certain Windows XP machines - after closing the start-up extensions preferences dialogue window the interface hangs. A shadow of the dialogue window is still visible and the interface is frozen, with 100% CPU activity and no options available whatsoever. I tried waiting, but after 15 minutes there is no change. Restarting the system doesn't help, and on repeated tries the result is always the same.
    I tried searching around this forum but couldn't find the solution. Can someone please point me in the right direction or perhaps tell me the possible cause?
    Thanks in advance. Cheers!

    I just had the same problem. Only after changing to a Vista administrator user account I could successfully start sql developer.

  • Oracle Forms Service hangs while run time

    I have Oracle 10g, I have a from (10g) I compile and generate when I try to run from Forms Builder, I hang in a screen while is said "Oracle Application Server - Forms Service" any iideas what might be wrong of what should I check

    This sounds like a configuration issue to me. Have you modified the "default.env" file (found in %ORACLE_HOME%\forms\server) to include the path to your form in the FORMS_PATH variable? Have you installed the Oracle Jinitiator or modified the formsweb.cfg file to use the Sun JRE? If you have installed the Jinitiator or are using the Sun JRE, what version did you install? The formsweb.cfg file defaults to Jinitiator version: 1.3.1.26 and Sun JRE version: 1.4.2_06. If you have a newer version installed you will need to update the version in the formsweb.cfg to match the installed version.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig...

  • Forms 10g hangs while running a procedure which has got lot of loops

    Hi,
    When executing a procedure in Forms 10g which fetches millions of records, application getting stuck.
    What parameter is required to be changed in forms configuration?
    Can any1 help me out???
    Thanks in advance,
    Natz.

    Particularly this passage:
    MaxBlockTime
    MaxBlockTime is the time in mili seconds to wait when reading data from the
    Runform process.
    e.g. a long query, lots of complex processing
    (default = 1000 milli sec)
    /j2EE/OC4J_BI_Forms/application/forms90app/forms90web/WEB-INF/web.xml
    or
    /j2EE/OC4J_BI_Forms/application/formsapp/formsweb/WEB-INF/web.xml
    Example
    =======
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>l90servlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>oracle.forms.servlet.ListenerServlet</servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>maxBlockTime</param-name>
    <param-value>1800000</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </servlet>
    or
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>lservlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>oracle.forms.servlet.ListenerServlet</servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>maxBlockTime</param-name>
    <param-value>1800000</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </servlet>
    What happens?
    =============
    For long requests (like querying a big table), the Listener
    Servlet waits for a default time of 1 second for the Forms
    runtime process to complete the request
    If the request is not completed then the Listener Servlet sends a busy
    response to the client asking the client to retry.
    The client sends a retry zero content length request to check if the query is
    complete.
    This default time of 1 second can be configured using Listener Servlet
    parameter called maxBlockTime

  • I want to develop using Xperia S, but hang in adb configuration...

    I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium. Installed Android SDK, and running. Installed PC Companion 2.1, running ok.
    When connect using USB my Xperia S, with "USB DEBUG" activated, an error installing driver "SEMC HSUSB Device" appear (no driver, at all).
    I've tried *ALL* (reinstall PC Companion, reinstall Windows Media Player, deleting MtpApp data, tried several drivers from different sources, ...).
    None!
    Using "adb devices", no devices appear. Never.
    Please, help me!

    I had already tried that solution. It did not work. The problem, I think, is that "PC Companion", when connected in "USB DEBUG", does not recognize the phone, so no drivers installed or anything.
    When connecting the phone, the message "SEMC HSUSB Device" appears in the device manager with exclamation mark. The phone is not recognized, and if I try to use the drivers of the pack, get the message that no drivers for that controller.
    Ah, my windows is x64.
    Has anyone been able to use this phone for programming with Eclipse?
    Thanks in advance.
    PD: I've tried also to add to Google USB driver ("android_winusb.inf"):
    ; SonyEricsson
    %SingleAdbInterface%        = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE
    %CompositeAdbInterface%     = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE&MI_01
    %SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE
    But the problem continues. I can install the driver (forcing), but in "adb" doesn't appear.
    PPD: May be PID=5169 in "USB DEBUG" mode? Changing "PID_0DDE" with "PID_5169", the dirver is detected, but with red alert. The phone is recognized, but "adb devices" doesn't show it :-(
    HELP!!!! I bought this phone thinking in Android developing. I tried a simple HTC Wildfire, and in 5 minutes the developer system was "on". With the Xperia S in 2 days nothing. Maybe I'll must return it, and buy a Samsung instead...
    PPPD: Tested in another two computers with Windows XP SP3, and in one of them *worked* (at the first try, and with the drivers installed by PC Companion)! Cleraly, it's a drivers issue.
    PPPPD: Another try: I've uninstalled *ALL* Sony software. With "pnputil" I've deleted *ALL* Sony drivers references in the system. Reinstalled PC Companion (last web version 2.10.065), reset, installed phone in "normal" mode. All ok. Reset, put phone in "USB DEBUG" mode. Plugin. PC Companion search for drivers an *ERROR* (as usual): "SEMC HSUSB Device" appears in the device manager with exclamation mark. Tried to update with the Sony web drivers. A message says that already the best drivers.
    Run out of ideas to continue.
