Forms Developer 9i crash at runtime

Hello to all,
I am a student learning oracle for a conversion course in IS. I get the following message when running any form after it has successfully compiled: Oracle Forms Designer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I use Windows XP Pro service pack 2 on a P4 1.6 GHz PC with 512 MB RAM. The oracle version is 'Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
JServer Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production' and the Oracle 9i Developer Suite version is Release2(9.0.2.0.1)
Thanks and regards

Hello,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I've looked under the directory you mentioned but couldn't find anything 'readable', all i found were machine codes. Could you please suggest a possible file name or extension I should look for?
Also, do you think I might have made a mistake during the installation of the developper suite which may have lead to this problem?
Thanks

  • A Form when modified crashes - toggling runtime parameters temporarily solves problem

A form is running in Forms 6i. Problem arises whenever user gives us requirement to modify it. Whatever modification we do, the form stops running. In fact it crashes and control goes back to Windows. That is the calling ( menu) form also exits.
However we toggle/change following runtime parameters thru
Tools --> Preferences --> Runtime and it temporarily solves problem.
Buffer Records in File & Array Processing.
However it is not fixed what combination of above parameters actually solves problem. We keep on trying and eventually it is solved.
We want to know waht is this problem and how to resolve it.
Note: The form is developed using SQL for purpose of insert/update/select. Built-in EXECUTE_QUERY is not used in this form.
    Pl. help.

I don4t know if this can help, but
we had problems with database links
    if we defined as db.world
we must put exactly as db.world.
When we use only @db it hanged up.
Out of this we didn4t have similar problems .

  • Forms development tool /server which render a pure html interface at runtime

    Hi,
I have heard of a 3rd party tool which uses same Forms development tool with a pure html rendering at runtime with modern web application look and feel. Oracle has any plan to do so?  This approach help forms developers to use same Forms/Reports  technology which deliver a modern application interface.

  • [b]How can i connect with database(oracle 9i) from form developer at runtim

    Hi Friends,
My problem is as follows, please show me a way.
Let's asume, I have form (developed in 6i) which has database data block. Now, at form level a have assigned on_logon trigger and I have written the following PL/SQL statement in that trigger:
    begin
    null;
    end;
So, when I run this form without connecting to database It does not prompt for a connection. Now I have button lebeled as "Connect" in this form, when user will click on it it will display a window having text boxes to enter user name, password and database name; once the user fill those text boxes and click on a button lebeled as "Ok" then the form runtime environment should be connected with database as per information provided by user. Here to mention that the user already been created, only the connection will be stablished. For example: I want to connect the form with database as "scott/tiger@oradata9i".
To do this, what PL/SQL command statement should i write in that "OK" button's "when_button_pressed" trigger?
If any of you know about this please help me.

    Hi
I've answered this question already. If I understand you right, you can use 'LOGON' built-in of Forms. Take a look into documentation.

  • Unable to run forms in oracle forms developer 10g

I am using oracle forms developer 10g on oracle application Release 12.
When i run form i am getting error that weblistener is not running on default port 8888. Then i changed it to 8000. But still i am not able to run the forms.

    Nivas,
In addition to running OC4J, you must also have your browser configured to use a Java Runtime Environment. The easiest - and preferred - method is to install the Oracle JInitiator as there is not configuration needed other than the installation. You can also use Sun's JRE, but you would have to research how to configure your PC correctly. The other option is to change your FormsWeb.cfg file to use the Browser Native JRE. Edit the formsweb.cfg file and find the IE= directive. The Default is IE=jinitiator. Change this to IE=Native, save your changes and you are done. This is not the preferred solution, but it does work.

  • Running form in Forms Developer

when I attempt to run a form in Forms Developer on one specific machne the browser always says the page can't be found. On other machines this is not so. What can cause this?

There might be problem in domain name & port in your forms builder preferences
    Go to
Form builder menu Tools  Preferences  Runtime Tab Page
And check the domain name and port is correct, and also set the browser path
    e.g. C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe for windows.

    Dear Frank
you are configuring Oracle Forms Developer to run and test Forms modules with Oracle Application Server 10g, and not with the embedded OC4J server - am I correct?
Yes, but i want 2 use 10gDS on other machine
    how can i configure 10gDS.?
best practices is to develop with the embedded OC4J server.
From where i can find detail about it?
Is "OAS Forms Services Development Guide " better 2 find detail about this?

  • Using forms developer 9i

    Hi
I am using forms developer 9i and when i run any form it open with Internet explorer and not as form .
Earlier i was using form builder 6i in which forms were run without internet explorer.
Plz reply with solution for running forms in forms developer 9i without internet explorer and run it in its own window

Oracle9i Forms doesn't support Client-Server runtime. Applications developed by Oracle9i Forms are to be run on the Web only (i.e. using Internet browser).
Read the Oracle9i Forms New Features on the online help and the related white paper to know the changes made on 9i from 6i. There are significant modifications and depricated features.

  • Run form developer 10g

Hi, i installed forms developer 10g and when i try tu run a form, open de browser but inmediatly appears a message 'internet explorer not working' and close the internet explorer.
I setted the application server URL and
    web browser location
    check the port 8899
    How can i do ?
    Regards

OC4J in Developer Suite is started manually. On Windows installation, a shortcut is created for you. It will appear as "Start OC4J Instance" with the other shortcuts used for Forms, for example the one used to start the Builder. When you start OC4J a DOS window will appear. Do NOT terminate this window or OC4J will be terminated.
Typically, there is no reason to change anything after the installation has been completed. The only settings which need to be made are those on the RUNTIME tab in the Builder, but this has nothing to do with actually running the form from the Builder. These settings simply determine how to pass the necessary URL from the Builder to a browser in order to start a form.
