  • Forms and database character conversion

    Hi,
We currently have a database setup to use a non-utf8 characters set, I believe it is set up for western european languages only. We now want to expand our database to include support for other languages such as arabic and japanese. To do this we would like to make a copy of our existing database and change the charecter set to UTF8.
We also have a Forms application currently using Forms 5 and due to be upgraded to 11g.
What sort of implications willl changing the database character set have for the existing Oracle Forms? What sort of changes if any will we need to make to the Forms in order to get them working with the new character set?
    Thanks for your help.

  • How to Add Values in INVOICE SUB-TYPE field at the Invoice Header Forms

    Hello,
Does any body knows how could I add/modify values in the INVOICE SUB-TYPE field at the Invoice Header Forms?. This values are related to the Globalization, in this case for the Chilean Localizations.
    Thanks,
    Alejandro R.

It gives any error or just does nothing?
Have you tried making another simple form with just one block and one or two items?
You can do this type of testing in these conditions.
Which version of forms are you using?

  • Changing Form settings to French

    Hello,
I have changed the settings of my form to be in French . I did this by going into File/Form Properties/Defaults and changing the Form Locale to French (Canada).  There are multiple date fields with Calendars on the form. When the user chooses a date in the future (on my English form) an error message appears saying they are unable to choose a future date. The date then appears in the field, but if they try to submit the form, they get the error message again.
On my French version, if the user tries to select a future date, the date does not appear in the field, nor does the error message come up. If they first choose a date that is valid the date appears, but if they go back and change it to a future date then the error message appears.
Does anyone know why this might be happening? I would like the message to appear whenever they choose a future date.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Nik

Thanks so much, i really appreciate it.
If this does not work do i have another option??Upgrade to 3.0.1 maybe?
Update: I've run steps 1-5 on my test app, works perfectly. As described in the documentation I've created a new entry for the application, generated an XLIFF file, exported it to my local system, translated some of the target words, imported it again, applied it and published the application and changed the application language to the new, imported language (file).
If it's not working for you, can you describe the steps you took in detail?

  • Converting Unicode to UTF-8 character set through Oracle forms(10g)

    Hi,
I am working on oracle forms (10g) where i need to load files containing unicode character set (multilingual characters) to database.
but while loading the file , junk characters are getting inserted into the database tables.
while reading the file through forms , i am using utl_file.fopen_nchar,utl_file.get_line_nchar functions to read the unicode characters ...
the application server , and database server characterset are set to american utf8 characteset.
In fact , when i change the text file characterset to utf8 through an editor(notepad ++,etc) , in that case , data is getting inserted into database properly,(at least working for english characters) , but not with unicode ...
Any guidance in this regard are highly appreciated
    Thank you in advance

  • DB Changed to UTF-8. Now parameter form prompts display in font "symbol"

We are in the process of updating a vendor developed application.
The database character set changed from WE8ISO8859P1 to AL32UTF8.
The vendor supplied reports work fine but our in house developed reports now have an issue with the parameter form font. The parameter font for the prompts is defaulting to "symbol".
This happens even on forms where we have not specified a paper parameter form and
let Oracle generate a default one.
Any ideas on what we need to set to get the parameter form prompts to appear as Courier?

  • Import Portugal - Specific  forms for financial statements

    Hi
in SAP Service Marketplace, using the quick link globalization for *Portugal* I found the following information:
Import forms 0PT-ACTIV-01, 0PT-PASSI-01and 0PT-RESUL-01 from client 000 to your development client. To do this, in Customizing for Financial Accounting, choose General Ledger Accounting ® Information System ® Drilldown Reports (G/L Accounts)  ® Form ® Import Form from Client 000.
I have tried to import forms 0PT-ACTIV-01, 0PT-PASSI-01and 0PT-RESUL-01 from client '000', but the forms are not available.
Does anybody know how I can get those forms or if I am doing anything wrong?
    Cheers

    Bruno,
    Thanks for your answer.
Yes I checked note 353539 and did the steps you mentioned above.
When executing 'Import Form from client 000u2019 the system shows me 3 options:
    - Reporting for Table FAGLFLEXT
    - Payables According to GL acc
    - Receivables According to GL acc
I selected the first one and then the following forms appeared
    Choose objects to be transported
Form                 0SAPBLNCE-01              Fin. Statement: Actual/Actual Comparison
Form                 0SAPBSPL-01               Fin. Statement: Actual/Actual Comparison
Form                 0SAPBSPL-02               Fin. Statement: Plan/Actual Comparison
Form                 0SAPFS10-01               Transaction Figures: Account Balance
The forms that I am looking for are not available. Do you think that am I doing something wrong? Have you checked in your system that Portuguese forms are available? What version of SAP are you working with? I am at ECC500
    thanks you very much

  • Cocoon/FOP + form-name problem

    Experts,
I have configured Tomcat/Cocoon to work with APEX instead of BI Publisher, as per Carl Backstrom's tutorial. Tomcat and Cocoon both work as expected. I am able to configure APEX with the correct URL, port, and Print Server Script, standard support, and so on.
I am able to use FOP to process static XML files with no problems.
If I understand how APEX works with Cocoon, it generates a Form POST to send an XML document to Cocoon for processing. Cocoon receives the posted form. Cocoon extracts the XML data based on the name of the posted form, and then transforms it into the specified format (PDF, RTF, HTML, etc.). In Carl's tutorial, Cocoon is configured in sitemap.xmap to expect form-name="xml".
Question: When APEX executes the Form POST, what form name does it give the posted form? Is this configurable?
Whenever I try running an APEX report through Cocoon/FOP, I get
org.apache.cocoon.ProcessingException: Unknown request object encountered named xml : null.
I have tried renaming form-name to wwv_flow, wwvFlowForm, XML, Xml, asdf,<null>, etc. Whatever I rename the form shows up as null.
    Examples:
    1. org.apache.cocoon.ProcessingException: Unknown request object encountered named wwv_flow : null.
    2. org.apache.cocoon.ProcessingException: Unknown request object encountered named wwvFlowForm : null.
    3. org.apache.cocoon.ProcessingException: Unknown request object encountered named asdf : null.
    4. org.apache.cocoon.ProcessingException: Unknown request object encountered named xml : null.

    Hi Carl
I use Tomcat and Cocoon as you described. For some reports PDF print is OK. One problem which i found was that, in my case, the language of the application produce also an error. I changed from German to English and everything was OK.
"Application > Shared Components > Edit Globalization Attributes > Globalization" - Aplication primary language GERMAN. Once that i changed to english US my reports worked again OK.
I have also an application where for one page PDF produced is OK but for another page in the same application i receive the same error:
org.apache.cocoon.ProcessingException: Unknown request object encountered named xml : null.
    Maybe Region configuration is different?
    Best regards

  • Oracle10g "Globalization Support restrictions"

    hi,
I have problem to create Database name with Spanish character Example: I try to insert “Español”).
    I found out at “Oracle® Database Globalization Support Guide 10g Release 2 (10.2)” documents(table2-5) , some restrictions.
“Database name” and “Tablespace” name are supported only with single-byte.
I need to know if the restrictions are relevant to oracle version"Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) Enterprise Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)"

    Hi Kishan,
Here are a few links on the topic of E-business suite customization, they may answer some of your questions.
Customization and Development for the E-Business Suite - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/applications/development_pesonalization/index.html
OA Framework Personalization and Extensibility Guide (Metalink Doc ID 236618.1)
About OA Framework Integrated Development Environment (JDeveloper9i OA Extension) (Metalink Doc ID 286082.1)
Regarding customizing translations; for OA Framework based applications, translation of personalization can be done either online or through XLIFF. You can generate base XLIFF files from the same screen in which you create the personalization, translate the text using translation tools which support XLIFF, and then upload them to the MDS repository using XLIFF importer. For Forms based applications, there is no method for doing mass translation of Forms personalization. You will need to manually translate the LDT files which contain both the translatable and non translatable attributes. The LDT file can be generated using FNDLOAD. See also Forms Personalization in Oracle Applications (Metalink Doc ID 279034.1).
    6. Can the Globalization still work with single/central database hosted in US?
Yes, the database character set determines what characters (language data) can be stored. I recommend going with a Unicode database character set. Oracle's locale sensitive behaviour, such as date & number formatting, collation are all session based; it means that it's possible to have 10 users connecting to one single database, but each user session serving different globalization behaviour.
    7. Does the Oracle Locale Builder Tool address Qn#3 above?
The Oracle Locale Builder allows user to define new collation sequences, new languages, new territories and new character set for their database. It affects SQL operations running inside the database only.

  • URGENT:Changing Regional & Keyboard settings(language) thru Forms.

    Hello,
I need to do a screen in English/Spanish. The requirement is that, on the selection of the language from the menu the corresponding screen should come. The ORA and FRM messages, data entry and retrieval should also be in English or Spanish respectively.
To do this, have used translation builder and have changed an English executable to a Spanish executable. In the menu, am changing the NLS_LANG parameter in the registry through d2kwutil.pll and am altering the session parameters - NLS_LANGUAGE & NLS_TERRITORY based on the lang selected.
    Problems:
    1. FRM and ORA messages are not coming in spanish. I think, will have to change the language to spanish in regional settings and will have to enable the keyboard for spanish. Now, how do I do it thru forms(Oracle release 8.0.6) ? (If I explicitly change the regional settings and then call the spanish screen... it works ! But I need to do it implicitly thru forms.)
    2. Do I need to have 2 executables one for english and the other for spanish if I have to call them thru a menu ?
    Thanks in advance...
    Regards,
    Sonika.

It looks like an NLS issue. Please post the question at Tehnology->Globalization and NLS forumn.
    Thanks.

  • How to import data from MS Access before distribution of a form

I have created a form with Acrobat Pro 9. On the other hand, I have a MS Access database with a lot of information.
I would love to import the data from this database to my form, BEFORE distributing the form the the respondents (they only need to check whether the information we already obtained was correct, so that's why the form needs to contain the already obtained information).
Can anyone help me with this task?

    Dear Morgan,
    Thanks for your reply.
The data in sql server 2000 which has data in Arabic_CI_AS character set is moved to Oracle 10.2.0.3 database with characterset AL32UTF8. The table data is moved to oracle using the dataloader 3.6 standard edition licensed version.
We cannot change the character set of Sql Server 2000. We have tried changing the data/characterset in Oracle to set the NLS_LANG at OS level to UTF_8 and tried the whole cycle of customer import, but still the customer name is displayed as square box at application level.
How do I post this thread to Globalization Forum? Do I have to create new thread for this again?
(Note: I am new to these OTN Forums).
    Thanks,
    Shanil
