Forms push buttons' behavior at runtime
Hi
I would like to imitate the push buttonâs appearance & behavior like all built-in buttons in Oracle.
i.e.: when the mouse enters the button the button is raised and when mouse leaves the button is flattened.
Any ideas are appreciated.
Regards
Tony S. Garabedian
Hi Grant
Thanks for the reply, yeah that will help me since i want to do that too, i have 2 different sizes from the same icon and when the mouse enters the icon changes, just like the OEM buttons.
But i also wanna try the 'raise button' effect, it will be very nice to have a customized toolbar with that effect. I'll try it and post my results.

Issue with Icons display in PUSH BUTTONS in forms 11g
Hello,
This is regarding an issue with the icons background for the push buttons in the forms 11g. When we enable the icons for the buttons (.gif) they are visible on the
top left corner of the buttons and not in the centre. In one of the forums it was written like this is a common problem in Forms 11g. Is there any way by which we can
centralize this icons on the Forms buttons. Also I have heard that image editing tools can be used to centralize the icons. I tried with one of the tools but it seems
like it is not working.
Can somebody suggest a workaround for this?
Thanks in Advance
RamI will assume you are attempting to use the images included in the Forms applet jar. These images are purposely structured so that the subject is off-centered. You should not see that same behavior if you use your own images or edit the ones built-in to Forms. However, keep in mind that the images packaged in the Forms applet jar are intended to be used in a menu toolbar and not custom buttons.
For more information, refer to MyOracleSupport note 1391073.1 where I explain this in detail.

How to Enable a Push Button In The Form That Is Always Greyed Out?
Greetings All,
I am trying to enable an existing "Return" Push Button(PB) which is always greyed out whenever the form is called in either an update or review mode. After some research, I found that this PB's functional property is "Enabled" (i.e. the enabled value = 'Yes'), and it is coded programatically set 'Off' in 30 places and 'On' in 2 places in the form that I inherit from my predecessor by using the following code:
SET_ITEM_ON_OR_OFF('BLK_UPDATE.PB_RETURN', <XXXXX>);
Where <XXXXX> could be either TRUE or FALSE. I've been spending a lot of time in trying to enable this "Return" PB (without modifying the existing programming code) by adding the 'SET_ITEM_ON_OR_OFF' built-in command to set the PB on in WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED TRIGGER for the PB_RETURN and WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE Trigger, but all tries in vain. Could you please help me with the following question?
What is the easiest way to enable a PB that is set programmatically?
Is there something else I should know to enable a PB, in addition to what I have already mentioned above?
Thanks in advance,
Jinlan
--Thanks all for your information and help. I included the following code, as suggested by Manu, in WHEN-MOUSE-DOWN TRIGGER for the PB_RETURN and WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE TRIGGER:
SET_ITEM_PROPERTY ('BLK_UPDATE.PB_RETURN_WORK_REQ', ENABLED, PROPERTY_TRUE);
and I made sure there was no " SET_ITEM_ON_OR_OFF('BLK_UPDATE.PB_RETURN_WORK_REQ', FALSE);" statements after the above code, but, the "Return" PB is still in grey; in other words, it is still not accessible when my form is called.
Perhaps, I need to place the above SET_ITEM_PROPERTY code in a different trigger other than the triggers mentioned above, uh? Any thoughts on this?
Manu,
You are absolutely right that the "SET_ITEM_ON_OR_OFF" is an ih-house written procedure which is defined/stored in the Attached Libraries. (I should have checked before making the "built-in" assumption. Thanks for catching and clarifying this.) Please help me with the following questions:
How do I view the procedure in the Attached Libraries???
Thanks in advance,
Jinlan

Kindly give me any workaround to resolve this issue
Thanks in Advance
Thangaraj.Hi All,
We have migrated the forms 6i to forms 10g R2.We are facing push button issue like,the lable is displayed in the button is reduced.Assume the button's label name is Cancel.Actully it is displaying like Can.....Due to Java used in forming the buttons.We have forms count nearly 300.We have diffent size buttons.
We have solution like
1.Manually
2.PC Creation
3.Java Class and Jar Files
4.JDAPI
5.basejini.htm
The method five,we have tried.But there is no changes after this changes also.
Can you guys please let us know the correct menthod(with steps 1 by 1) to do this in quickly.

Forms 9i/Forms 6i Push Button problems
Hello All,
I have a form that is using a bunch of Push Buttons. Each of these Push Buttons has a Access Key assigned to it.
The main canvas is a tab canvas and there are some stacked canvases too. All of them are being displayed on the same window.
If I press the access key a Push button when it is not being displayed on the screen, it still executes the When-Button-Pressed Trigger and is causing me some pain.
How can I stop the When-Button-Pressed trigger from executing when the Push Button is hidden from view ?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
SriramYou could make the button disabled when it is hidden.

Color of the push button in Forms 6i
HI,
I want to change the color of the push button from the default gray color to something else and also the font type. Is it possible? If yes, how to do it ?On Microsoft Windows, the colors of buttons, window title bars, and window borders are controlled by the Windows Control Panel color
settings specified for these elements. You cannot override these colors in Form Builder even by using visual attributes.
The button color attributes are controlled exclusively by the Color facility in the Control Panel.
To define button color attributes do the following :
1. To do this go to 'Settings' + 'control panel'.
2. Double-click on 'display' and select 'appearance' from the menu .
3. Select '3D Objects' from the 'item' list .
4. The background color and the foreground color can be changed to your favourite ones.
But the important thing to note here is that this will affect all the 3D objects in all the applications in your system .
Or you can try this workaround if it is suitable. Use a display item with a "Bevel" property of "Raised" and the "Default Value"
property whatever the label should be. Then attach a WHEN-MOUSE-CLICK trigger to it. You can change the foreground and background colors to whatever you want since it's really just a field.

Text Items And Push Buttons Created on a customized form does not appear.
Hi,
I created a custom form and attached it to ebs. The form opens without any error.
I had 3 text items and 2 push buttons with proper property class applied to them. But I am only able to see the prompt of the first text item. All the other widgets are not visible. What could be the possible cause for this.
DeepakHow are you running the form? Have you deployed it properly and attached it to a menu/form function and are viewing it within EBS?
Did you open the TEMPLATE.fmb form and save a copy of it as the starting point for your custom form?

Push button set to calculate form
Hi Friends,
Ive to create calculator by simple form without any data service. Ive modeled form with push button to assign value from one field to another (push button option->action->system action->dynamic->action->formula with correct pass value from one field to another, but it doesn't work, it means field is empty after push button. do you know how to modeled button to put the result to the field? At the moment value puts to field automatically. I want to control this event by button. How?
MartinData Lines to be used as inputsSome parallel ports can be configured to use the data lines as inputs. It depends a great deal on the way the manufacturer designed the parallel port. With some models the data lines can be read the same way we read the control lines, by driving them to high logic so they will take on the value of an external signal. However, most parallel ports require that you set the direction bit for input. This is bit 5 in the Control register (base+2). If the port is capable of it, setting the direction bit high has the effect of making the lines tri-state so it can be driven externally. Sometimes it is also necessary to toggle bit 6 high or low. However, it should be noted that some manufacturers actually lock these bits so that software cannot change them. An example is shown below in Figure 7.
To test whether your data lines can be used for input, try the following:
Set bit 5 of the control register high (at base address+2).
With nothing connected to the port, write a couple of values to the data port, and read each back after you write it.
If the reads DON'T match the writes, your port is probably bidirectional. Setting C5 disabled the data outputs and you're reading the open inputs of the data-port buffer. If the reads DO match the writes, your port isn't bidirectional. The data outputs are still enabled, you're reading back what you wrote, and you won't be able to read external signals. If it is possible to use your data lines for input, then you just need to set control register bit 5 high and read from the value of the data lines at the base address. -

Edited by: wael amar on May 1, 2010 11:03 PMOk, here's a working testcase.
The idea is taken from an article from an oracle magazine (i don't have it at hand, , so i tried to rebuild it by "memory". As far as i remember the original was from the german doag-magazine and was written by Gerd Volberg).

Why i need to press the push button twice to complete my action?
in my Push Button at WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger I wrote this code:
===================================
FORMS_DDL('CREATE TABLE DEMO (DEMO_ID NUMBER ENCRYPT USING ''AES256'' NO SALT NULL, DEMO_DATE DATE ENCRYPT USING ''AES256'' NO SALT NOT NULL)');
FORMS_DDL('CREATE UNIQUE INDEX DEMO_PK ON DEMO(DEMO_ID)');
FORMS_DDL('ALTER TABLE DEMO ADD (CONSTRAINT DEMO_PK PRIMARY KEY (DEMO_ID))');
FORMS_DDL('alter system set wallet open identified by "zaq1xsw2"');
INSERT INTO demo VALUES (84,SYSDATE);
COMMIT;
FORMS_DDL('ALTER SYSTEM SET WALLET CLOSE');
Message('Thanks for buying our program.');
Message('Thanks for buying our program.');
Go_item('DEPT.DEPTNO');
Replace_content_view('WINDOW1','CANVAS4');
===================================
but I need to press in it twice - two times - to execute the code above.
The Question is : why the code doesn't execute from first press ?Here are some questions which should help us to help you if you provide detailed answers. Please also provide any other details which may help to illustrate the problem.
1. What is the complete Forms version you are using? Please provide the version number and not the marketing name. A version number looks like this: 10.1.2.3.0 or this 9.0.4.3.0
2. Are you running the form (the client) on the local machine or are you accessing it via something like Citrix, Desktop Sharing, etc?
3. Are you running Forms in a virtual machine (e.g. VMware, Virtual Box, etc)?
4. If you are using Forms 9.x or newer, what is the JRE or Oracle Jinitiator version you are using to run the form on the client?
5. If you are using Forms 9.x or newer, what is the browser and version you are using to run the form on the client?
6. Does any other function within the form cause the same odd behavior? If you have not tested, do so. For example, create a button with a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger and code it to perform multiple tasks. Do you find that you have to click it more than once? -

We have a SmartForms PDF displayed in an INTERACTIVE_FORM. Is there any way to change the filename? When our users save the PDF it is always called "F.PDF" which is a bit silly.
