Forms6i with WinXP and OLE

Message
Hi experts,
Hi Experts,
We are encountering the following scenario, and wonder if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, whether there is a work around we can try.
Some of our office pcs have recently been upgraded to Windows XP os and have OfficeXP professional.
In previous tests we have run Forms6i with calls to OLE to launch MsWord, and produced letters with no problems, even when running in Win2k and calling
Office XP Word. We would be presented with the merged document whenever we chose to "Edit" or "Preview".
However, now that some of our development machines are running in WinXP we get thrown straight into the data file, rather than the merged word document
(the documents in question all perform a mail-merge).
Any ideas?
TIA,
Alexandra.

Hi,
Last year I build a tester with a PXI rack. I started with a MXI interface. The PXI modules are a part of your PC and it helped me to wire the hardware VI's. Later on when the hardware part was ready I switched over to a embedded controller (Not RT)
With VISA I can still acces some devices but not all (All PXI devices are non NI except the controller)

  • USB2.0 Install Troubles With WinXP and KT3 Ultra2?

    I installed WinXP (Fresh) on my system with the KT3 Ultra2 board in it. I had ACPI (Plug and Play OS Installed) turned OFF in the bios, and I have all 6 USB ports enabled in bios (legacy support off).
    Upon installing WinXP and the SP1 full update (~130mb file I believe), I check the device manager to see what was up so far. I had several yellow exclamation marks, but two of the three were expected (onboard audio and my video card had no drivers yet). But the third one threw me... Under "Other devices" I had "USB Host Controller" listed....
    So I installed the Via 4in1's version 4.43 using the "quick install" option. Check device manager, same result. Mr. Steveo suggested I try right clicking the controller in the device manager and choosing to "update driver". I did, and it automatically updated the driver and placed it in the USB section of the device manager (with the other USB entries).
    The problem is, the device name seems weird: "Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" instead of something like "USB2.0 PCI to USB Host Controller" or something like that. The yellow exclamation mark is gone, but I just dont know if this is the correct device setup or not.
    Can any of you other Ultra2 owners tell me if this is what you have in your USB controller list, and if not, how did you install WinXP to get to the point where you had the "correct" listing? Maybe it makes a difference whether ACPI is turned on during install or something?
    I tried to run the Via USB2.0 driver file (7011Kb) from the MSI site to see if it would help, but it quits the install and says that the SP1 update drivers are newer and should not be updated with this driver.
    Any suggestions or comments are very much appreciated.

    I have a similar USB2 problem after installing XP SP1 - yellow question marks in the hardware manager under "Other Hardware"/"USB (Universal Serial Bus)-Controller".
    I tried "Uninstalling" the USB controller as was suggested in the forum, but it won't let itself be removed.
    When I try "Search for new hardware" it shows a message that an error occurred when installing the hardware, and that the hardware is not properly configured (Code 1). It suggests that I re-install the driver. When I select "re-install driver",  I just get another error message. It asks me if I have a CD or disk wit drivers, but I can't find anything appropriate on the driver disk I got with the motherboard.
    Does anyone have an idea what's wrong?
    Regards Steve
    Hi, yours is 845E MAX2 motherboard, you should use Intel USB2.0 drivers .
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php
    And don't use "search for new hardware", instead you manually point the drivers location to where you extracted the downloaded file. Sometimes WinXP drivers search is "blind"  8)

  • Dual boot with WinXp and Arch-Solved

    Hi friends,
    I was using windows boot loader to boot into arch instead of grub. I used this:
    dd if=/dev/hda7 of=arch.lnx bs=512 count=1
    to get the first 512 bytes of the partition in which I installed arch and then added a line directing towards arch.lnx (moved to windows partition) in boot.ini. But now after reinstalling arch, when i do the same to get first 512 bytes of the partition, it generates a blank file and hence using that I'm not able to boot into arch. Grub is installed in this partition only. Any hints about this issue.
    EDIT: I dont know what was the problem exactly, but after I reinstalled grub by "grub-install /dev/hda7" and then did the above command, it worked fine.

    moderator comment: This is a question on Kubuntu installation but it seems to me OP specifically wants to know how to set up his partitions without harming Arch. As long as the discussion remains about Arch Linux this thread can stay. I'm going to have to move this from Installation to Newbie Corner.
    Annorax wrote:I assure you that I am doing my own research. I am new to Linux and new to dual booting and was just looking for some pointers and a place to start reading.
    Please see this. I advise you to read the links 2ManyDogs gave. You also need to give us more information about your partitions, such as what is mounted where. I suspect you only have primary partitions and will need to convert one into an extended partition.

  • Need help with WinXP 64 and raid please...

    First off let me just say that for the past week or two I've been lurking on this forum while building my first 64 bit pc and I just want to say that all of your advice, suggestions, tips, and workarounds have proven to be invaluable. A sincere, heartfelt thanks to everyone here.   Like many of yours, my build has also been problematic. In fact, I guess I'd have to call it a pain in the ass. I can't imagine having done it without your help by using trial & error, so once again; thanks! Now, on to my ? My plan was to have one PATA 40gb HD to house 2 OS's on 2 partitions; a dual boot with XP and XP64, AND one RAID 0 made up of 2 160gb SATA HD's for everything else (actually the plan was to put the OS's on a Raptor but $$$). Now here's the prob: XP's up and running fine but when I try installing XP64 and it asks for the RAID drivers, it won't take them. It says they're not for a 64 bit OS. ? Am I the only one that thinks that odd? Isn't that the ultimate point of all this? So am I missing something? I d/l'd the 64 bit drivers from NVidia, is there a way to extract RAID drivers from them to a floppy? Also, I'd like both OS's to utilize the same RAID array for programs, storage etc. Is that a problem (my first time installing RAID   )? And if it WILL work, is it going to insist on wiping the drives and starting fresh? I hope not since since I've already got a ton of stuff on there. Anyway, thanks in advance for any and all help you might offer. Keep up the good work. -Glyph

    Thanks for your quick responses. So are you saying that if my OS isn't on the RAID array then I don't need the RAID drivers during setup? That's interesting. It's not how I understood it to be (not to say your wrong though). I'm pretty sure I needed them in WinXP, though it's on a different disc as well. Now that I think about it, maybe I could've waited and installed them through device manager with the same end result? I guess I'll try it and find out. And are there any ideas regarding the 2nd part of my question re data loss? I'd really hate to start from scratch at this point.

  • Problem resizing Viewport with WebDeveloper in WinXP and Vista

    I'm having a problem resizing the Viewport with WebDeveloper running in FF10 & FF11 on my WinXP and Vista machines. Quite simply, I'm trying to resize the Viewport to 320x420pixels (to represent an iPhone) but can't get it to go below 510px.
    There's no problem in FF1 on Win7. I have contacted Chris Pederick, the developer of WebDeveloper, and he says his code is tha same in all cases, and pretty basic JS. So possibly the fault lies in the browser. I've not noticed this problem in earlier versions of FF (i.e around 3.5)

    Try to hide all toolbars or open a second window and hide them there to see if that allows to make the window smaller.

  • IPod and iTunes not compatible with WinXP

    It appears that the iPod (I have a 4GB nano) and iTunes (I tried what was on the CD, as well as the latest download of 6) are not compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition (patched to the hilt, all the latest updates installed).
    Installation works fine but iPod updater does not terminate cleanly and the iPod nano does not get rebooted properly, and although iTunes sees the iPod when it is plugged in, it does not recognize it from plug-in to plug-in (it's supposed to remember the name of the iPod device, and not re-prompt you to register, etc.).
    Also, when attempting to copy MP3 files to the iPod, it appears as though they are copying but they do not wind up on the iPod no matter how hard you try.
    Windows 2000 SP4, however, does not have any problems with the iTunes or iPod updater software and everything seems to work just fine.
    It would behoove Apple to investigate the compatibility problem that their software has with Windows XP Media Center Edition, and fix it as soon as possible.

    When i startup itunes it says:
    "The software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes to install the Ipod's software"
    I am on xp media center edition 2005
    When I run the ipod updater it gives me "ipod service error"
    What can i do?
    I bought the 4gb nano just yesterday.
    both my ipod and itunes software are the Updated September 23, 2005 versions
    ps on my old pc with winxp sp2 barebones edition, it works fine...
    maybe its cos in mce 2k5 i got 2 users?

    I have a X-FI Platinum card with the front module and remote. Under WinXP Pro everything worked fine. I have since upgraded to WinXP 64 bit Pro and the remote does not work.
    I have installed the latest driver for WinXP 64 (At least last weeks driver) which went OK. Soundcard seems to work OK. I have a 5. speaker setup and I get sound from all speakers. Before there was the createi've audio console that was in the system tray, but that doesn't seem to be there with WinXP 64.
    Is there another download that I need to do for the Remote to function ? I am not sure whether the remote software gets installed with the 64 bit drivers or not. I know some people have turned to alternate software to control the remote on WinXP 64 bit edition successfully. I am sure you can find out what I mean by searching these forums, I am not allowed to say any more than that. Hope that helps?

  • Java Plug-in not working with WinXP SP2 Registry Key Missing Error Pop-Up

    I have WinXp PRO with SP2 and the Oct 12 Security Update Patch for SP2 loaded and I went to my Control Panel and saw that the JavaRuntime Environment 1.4.2_04 icon was missing and when I went to click the Java Plugin icon to Open it, I got the following message in a Error Pop-Up window:
    The system cannot find the registry key specified:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java pPlug-in\1.4.2_04\JavaHome
    I then went to Chage Access Program Controls and when I clicked on the Change box for the program, it wanted me to re-install the whole environment.
    Prior to doing this, and potentially screwing up my MS winXp environment, I went to the Sun support page for Java Plug-in and I did get the dancing elmo appear as they said I would but I noticed that my environment was MS VM, not Java and that I was out of date and a newer update was avaliable.
    The downloads page for the plug-in states clearly that it supports WinXp SP1 and NOT SP2.
    SO, my question is, do I need to re-install anything or wait till the whole SP2 issue and java with (BITS) issue gets resolved and just use the MS VM engine during my browsing time? Is there a workaround and what impact will this have on my system? I am not developing Java Apps but am a Power user in Windows who is wondering if applets and general browsing might be easier, faster and more fluid if the Java Runtime was enabled as opposed to the MS VM solution?
    Any ideas or thoughts on this very timely issue would be greatly appreciated as I see others have tried to post related issues but none that succinctly combines what I have asked for here in this post.
    Thanks from NYC -Phil

  • A problem with Itunes and adding music to library

    I've been using my Ipod touch for about a month now (recently purchased). I first connected my Ipod to my laptop, because my desktop needed a format and reinstall of the OS, so I wanted to be slightly organized with it. I finally got around to formatting the desktop to WinXP pro, and have all my programs installed successfully.
    Here's the issue:
    With my laptop, I could start Itunes, and I did NOT have every song I have as my library, only a few songs that I personally selected and added to library (by clicking on "CTRL+Highligh" or File-->Add file to library). When I did that, I could hold down CTRL and highlight up to 15-20 songs at once, and have them show up in my library as added, then sync them to my Touch.
    Since coming to my desktop with my Ipod, and moving all my music from my laptop over to my desktops C: drive, I've hooked up my Ipod and (of course installed Itunes) authorized my desktop for my Touch.
    I begain selecting the music I wanted...My directory setup is as follows:
    My Music: folders inside of
    Itunes directory
    Mp3 Directory
    My Itunes settings are selected as My Music-->Itunes as the folder. I open Itunes, select add song to library, and it only allows me to highlight UP to 5 songs at once and add them. Any number between 1 and 5 songs will add to my library just fine. If i try to select over 5 songs, like 6-20 songs at once (using CTRL) it does nothing, and doesnt place any of the selected songs in my library. It will allow me to select individual songs just fine, and like I said, I can select UP TO 5 songs, highlighted with CTRL, and they show up just fine (all 5 songs will show in the library.)
    Any number of songs selected with CTRL over 5, does nothing.
    I dont understand why, when I used this very technique on my laptop, and I could select up to 30 songs at once (using ctrl+highlight) and they would ALL show up as they are supposed to. Everything is nearly the same on here, my settings are all pretty much the same as my laptop's settings were...anyone have any ideas? this has been bugging me all morning, and I've spent so much time fooling with it that I only have 56 songs out of 6,000 on my Ipod touch (I also decided to rid myself of music I didnt listen to and restored/formatted my ipod so I could start over)...I need more than 56 songs, but I dont want to do them 1 or 2 at a time, then go back and have to hit CTRL+O or File--->add file to library.
    What causes me to be limited to 5 or less songs per time to add to my library?

    Because I wasn't aware that the library could be "taken" from pc to pc. The processor on my desktop is also hyper-threaded, which simulates it having 2 processors..and moving file NAMES, not moving the files into the library is NOT a processor intensive function. It's actually just taking the file location - directory, and name, and making it show in the library..not moving the actual file itself and making a copy of it in the Itunes folder. I do NOT allow itunes to make copies of files that it keeps in the library (I uncheck allow Itunes to organize and make copies of files added to library).
    So adding to my library is as simple as making the library show the file name, and pointing to the location on disk, not actually making a copy of the file in the background and placing it into a folder inside the Itunes folder.
    Had I KNOWN I could take my library off the desktop and move it, I would've made it easier on myself, but I thought I posted that I just recently bought this Ipod touch (about a month ago).

  • Wiping WinXP and installing Linux

    Hello,
    I just joined today. I have a question about how I should go about updating certain things in my R51.
    I greatly favor Linux over Windows-- I use the Linux distro MEPIS 8.5 in one desktop tower, and the Linux distro sidux in another desktop tower. I just bought an R51 (type 2895-AU3) Thinkpad a few days ago- this is my first laptop. While I wasn't given any OS disc(s), it came loaded with WinXP. Shortly after getting home with the R51, I looked up what updates are available for it from Lenovo. For WinXP, there are a number of them but when I changed the OS option to Linux, only 3 turned up, as I recall, for the HDD and for the CD-RW/DVD. I'm wondering if, while I still have WinXP installed, I should update the BIOS and various other things for WinXP and then wipe the WindowsXP and install MEPIS.
    When I ran my MEPIS live CD in the R51 (and a Linux live CD doesn't install Linux, yet), I noticed that the boot info said the BIOS was outdated (and maybe it said it needs updating?) The BIOS is currently version 1.21 (1VET63WW) and is dated 21 Feb. 2005.
    Are there so many Lenovo-supplied updates for WinXP because that OS needs them in order for that OS to be optimized for use today, while so few updates for Linux because things are basically OK for Linux (except for the three I found in my seach)?
    So I'm asking:  Should I first do the Lenovo updates (BIOS, etc.) for WinXP, then wipe the WinXP and install MEPIS, doing later the Linux updates from Lenovo?
    [A short while ago I read about some bad update bug offered in a Lenovo BIOS update for some unspecified ThinkPad. I of course want to avoid anything that makes my laptop unuseable.]
    Thanks

    If I'm not too late, Just install Ubuntu. Not sure if it's the only one or not, But it can be installed inside windows like an program. When it boots you will have the option to choose windows or ubuntu. Best way to install it is to load the iso with any image loaders (poweriso, magiciso, deamontools) It will install faster than a burned CD. Also disconnect from the internet before install. Or it will install from the internet which will be over 30mins long. Ubuntu is very easy to use.

  • How can i install solaris10 on my pc with winxp

    hello
    i m completely new to this os. can anyone let me know "how can i install solaris10 with winxp on second partion. is it as simple as installing two windows together. how much space will solaris require(i have only 40gb hard disk ).

    Fdisk your hard disk and create two partitions
    Install Windows as normal onto the first partition
    Install Solaris onto the second - Solaris will install a bootloader which will allow you to select which OS to boot if you carry out the installs in that order.

    Hi
    i already make a entry in TNSNAMES.ora Another option...
    1. Pls Verify that the net service name you entered was correct including no spaces.
    2.Verify that the ADDRESS portion of the connect descriptor which corresponds to the net service name is correct.
    3.Ensure that the destination process (for example the listener) is running at the remote node and the cabel of ur local net work connecting to ur server is well connected and working well.
    4. Test ur local network cabel and try to make the connection to another computer set.
    5.u can check from Start > control panel > administrative tools > services that the service name is started or not if it is Started Restarted or refresh it.
    6. Ensure that the listener is running at the remote node and that the ADDRESS parameters specified in TNSNAMES.ORA are correct.

  • Recursive custom tag: different behaviour in WinXP and Linux

    Hi all,
    I've a strange behaviour on a web application for which I developed a custom tag to render a tree structure.
    This tag take in input an object representing the tree with all its nodes, and render every node, calling hitself recursively for every child of every node.
    This tag is used inside a jsp.
    I deployed my webapp on JBoss in a WinXP Pro environment, and everything is ok. Then I deployed the same webapp on JBoss in a Linux Env, and the call to the custom tag... doesn't write anything (with the same input).
    Used jdk are 1.6.0_10 on WinXP and 1.6.0_7 on Linux (an OpenSuse professional distribution). JBoss is 4.2 (I did tests with JBoss 4.2.2 and 4.2.3).
    Here is a sample code of my tag (file outree.tag):
    <%@ tag language="java" pageEncoding="UTF-8" %>
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/log-1.0" prefix="log" %>
    *<%@ taglib prefix="ousel" tagdir="/WEB-INF/tags/ouselector" %>*
    <%@ attribute name="subtree"
              required="true"
              type="my.webapp.TreeObject" %>
    <%@ attribute name="subroot_index" required="true" type="java.lang.Integer"%>
    <log:debug category="my.webapp.ousearch.taglib" message="Tag library called, starting operations..." />
    <c:if test="${not empty subtree.children}">
         <c:set var="next_subtree_index" value="${subroot_index + 1}"/>
         <ul class="subtree" id="subtree-${subroot_index}">
         <log:debug category="${logcategory}" message="We have children, calling recursively tag library on them (next subtree index: ${next_subtree_index})..." />
         <c:forEach var="currentOUChild" items="${subtree.children}">
              *<ousel:outree subtree="${currentOUChild}" subroot_index="${next_subtree_index}"/>*
              <c:set var="next_subtree_index" value="${next_subtree_index + 1}"/>
         </c:forEach>
         </ul>
    </c:if>
    </li>The TreeObject contains a list of children that can contain other children and so on. On every child, I call recursively my custom tag to render with a set of nested <ul> elements the entire tree structure.
    Here the call from the jsp:
    <%@ taglib uri="http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/log-1.0" prefix="log" %>
    *<%@ taglib prefix="ousel" tagdir="/WEB-INF/tags/ouselector" %>*
    <log:debug category="${logcategory}" message="Building subtree ${ouSubtree} HTML structure..." />
    *<ousel:outree subtree="${ouSubtree}" subroot_index="1"/>*
    <log:debug category="${logcategory}" message="Subtree ${ouSubtree} HTML structure built" />
    ...Jakarta log taglibs is used to log the value of the parameter passed to the custom tag. In the Linux env I see that the passed object is not empty (it couldn't be null because the tag enforce it as a mandatory value).
    Any idea?

    I have found a workaround.
    Simply substitute the recursive invocation, with an import of a jsp that will call the custom tag.
    Note: You have to set your needed variable in request to make it visible to the jsp
    <%@ tag language="java" pageEncoding="UTF-8" %>
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/log-1.0" prefix="log" %>
    <%@ attribute name="subtree"
              required="true"
              type="my.webapp.TreeObject" %>
    <%@ attribute name="subroot_index" required="true" type="java.lang.Integer"%>
    <log:debug category="my.webapp.ousearch.taglib" message="Tag library called, starting operations..." />
    <c:if test="${not empty subtree.children}">
         <c:set var="next_subtree_index" value="${subroot_index + 1}"/>
         <ul class="subtree" id="subtree-${subroot_index}">
         <log:debug category="${logcategory}" message="We have children, calling recursively tag library on them (next subtree index: ${next_subtree_index})..." />
         <c:forEach var="currentOUChild" items="${subtree.children}">
                    *<c:set var="_currentOUChild" value="${currentOUChild}" scope="request"/>*
                    *<c:set var="_next_subtree_index" value="${next_subtree_index}" scope="request"/>*
              *<c:import url="/WEB-INF/tags/outtree.jsp"/>*
              <c:set var="next_subtree_index" value="${next_subtree_index + 1}"/>
         </c:forEach>
         </ul>
    </c:if>
    </li>Here is the imported jsp (outtree.jsp):
    <%@ taglib prefix="ousel" tagdir="/WEB-INF/tags/ouselector" %>
    <ousel:outree subtree="${_currentOUChild}" subroot_index="${_next_subtree_index}"/>

  • Performance of S12 ION with WinXP?

    I currently have Win7 on my S12 ION.  I have 3gigs RAM on my S12 ION.  I am seriously considering wiping my HD and putting WinXP on instead.  I know there are people on these messageboards who own a S12 ION and have gone from WinXP to Win7, or from Win7 to WinXP.  I am interested to read your thoughts...
    - How is the performance of the S12 ION with WinXP compared to Win7?
    - How difficult was it to switch from Win7 to WinXP?
    - What do you miss in WinXP that you could do in Win7?
    - How difficult is it to maintain WinXP and get it to work with everything you do?

    Hi and welcome .. as spiritedguy says...
    but i think windows 7 (home premium is on S12 ION.. not the "ugly" starter edition ) .. is a younger fresher system... and forthcoming more accelerated and a better battery consumption driver will show as the power in the near future...
    XP is good on S12 ION but i dont think that you got the most of it .. depending on the driver situation (and adobe newer flashplayer) ...
    in conclusion you must decide on your own what is better or more convinient ...  ...
    The best solution in these times is a multiboot system... get the best of both
