Formula broken in go-openoffice 3.1.1.1-1?

Hi,
Since few times, I have problem with formula in go-openoffice. The formula are lost we reloading a text document made in go-openoffice.
I use go-openoffice 3.1.1.1-1
"Formula" do not show up. In place of the formula, I can read Object 29 or Object 30...
To reproduce. Open a new text document and make a simple formula, for example: m/s^2
save, close reopen.
It is broken.
It is also broen when opening with okular here.
It looks like a pretty critical bug. Did I miss something?

  • How to install ONLY Pages 09

Since there is no methodology by which Numbers 09 can be disabled without uninstalling the whole thing, what would be the procedure to install ONLY pages 09 out of iWork 09? Or, can I uninstall ONLY Numbers 09?

YES! the question of INOPERATIVE formula elements (there are several) between numbers 08 and 09 has been dragged into the ground. The majority of these concern use of the NEW definition of date and time however there are many that give error messages because the formula does not recognize a blank cell as being Zero.
    *Perfectly RIDICULOUS*
I would be glad to see this thread. I guess that you read it wrongly.
    (1) *_The definition of date_time values didn't change. The application just offer a new type of item : duration._*
Only the internal way to store the date_time values was changed but this change has no impact at the user level.
    (2) The changes about the treatment of blank cell is logical and as I requested it I feel that it's welcome.
If you have formulas broken by this change it's easy to edit them.
Now, if you don't want to run Numbers '09, just use the Finder's Archive menu item.
You will get a file named Numbers.app.zip
    Then, trash Numbers.app
Numbers will no longer run and, if a new update surface, it will be time to unpack the archive to revive the app to make the updater happy.
An alternate scheme is to create a disk image and move Numbers.app in this one.
Same scheme : as long as you don't deliberately open the disk image, the app will not run. If an update surface, drag the app from the disk image to its normal location.

  • Broken IF formula in 09?

In Numbers 08, I used the following IF formula to return an empty cell if there is no data to sum:
    =IF(COUNT(E22:E38)>0,SUM(E22:E38),"")
I do not want it to show zero if there are no numbers to sum. Just be blank.
In Numbers 09, that formula appears to work correctly, but when I try to SUM a cell which contains that empty cell, I get an error which says, The operator "+" expects a number, date or duration but found "."
Any clue what's wrong? It worked fine in Numbers 08.

I don't want to be rude but, may you look at existing threads before posting?
This question was already responded several times.
There is a change between Numbers '08 and Numbers '09
In Numbers '08, a cell containing an empty string was accepted as a zero in arithmetic operations.
In Numbers '09, it is treated as a string. As it is theorically correct, and as it is not documented, we don't know if it's a bug or a deliberate choice.
    The workaround was already given:
use SUM() in lieu of the + operator.
For other operations, we must use the IF() function
    =IF(C="",0,C)-IF(B="",0,B)
=SUM(C,-B) reject an empty string in B (the operator "-" requires a number) but accepts it in C
    =IF(C="",0,C)*IF(B="",0,B)
or, if we are in row 10
    =PRODUCT(C10,B10)
=IF(C="",0,C)/IF(B="",0,B) (which of course will return an error if B is nil)
QUOTIENT() rejects an empty string as dividend (of course it rejects also it as divisor).

  • The broken link error

    Hi,
Please help me with this broken link error in Office Excel 2010. Thank you.
The problem is: a broken link cannot be removed from the file. The link was used in data validation, which refers to a list of values. After the path was corrected, it still shows there’s a broken link. Here are the details:
    I have 4 files named “000TVA_Test – 3”, “000TVA_Test – 4”, “000TVA_Test – 5”, and “000TVA_Test – 6”. The posterior files were developed based on the previous files.
In Test-3, sheet “Template “, cell “L4”, “O4”, “R4”… were built as dropdown list using data validation. The list source is in the “Library” worksheet. There’s no problem so far.
Test-4 was firstly copied from Test-3. In this file I renamed the worksheet from “Library” to “Setting” and the link was broken from here. I can also fix the broken link in this file. (While I didn’t realize there was a broken link.)
In Test-5 I fixed the path, but every time when opening the file, the broken link still shows.
In Test-6 I’ve removed the data validations. The broken link is still there.
I tried to find solutions online. I tried common methods, cannot find anything in the files is still using links. I also tried the “findlink.xla” add-in, but it only worked for Test-4, and couldn’t find the link in other files.
    Please help. Thank you!
    I uploaded files here: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=1A97736E0ABBAA41!113&authkey=!AF5wAd9rwUPnYyE&ithint=folder%2cxlsm
    Thanks again!

    Hi,
Based on my tested the files downloaded, I found that Test-5 & Test-6 included the "A defined name that refers to an external workbook", Test-4 had not. (Please click Formula Tab>Name Manage, you'll see them.)
However, the Break Links command cannot break the following types of links:
A defined name that refers to an external workbook
A ListBox control with an input range that refers to an external workbook.
A DropDown control with an input range that refers to an external workbook.
http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/291984/en-us (It also applies to Excel 2010)
    Thus, we'd better try the workaround: re-build the Test-5 & Test 6.

  • Numbers seems to have broken

I was using Numbers this morning -- no major problem except that it didn't properly recover from page view (leaving junk on the right of the table).
This afternoon it seems to have broken. ALL my files, including the one from this morning have mostly blank cells. The contents seem to be there - if I click a cell the contents show up in the formula bar (or whatever it's called). And if I double-click to edit the contents reappear. But then go away again as soon as I finish with the cell.
Some (but not all) of the header cells in Gray Headers style show up, and some are simply a pair of faint white squares at the end of the text string. Check boxes show up OK.
Oh, and if I double click on a date it shows up for editing with the year as 00002010.
This is very distressing. I have a lot of data locked up in Numbers and as of now, all is unusable.
    What's going on?

Thanks for the help. Actually I should have mentioned that I tried that (I've been using Macs since my Mac IIfx in 1990 so I picked up a few tricks) as well as restarting. The problem remains.
In the meantime I've tried opening my files (remotely) with another machine. No problems. It's local.
Next I'll try reinstalling Numbers, if I can find the disks

  • How can I paste a part of a sheet from Numbers in Pages as text, without the formulas. The reason I need this (and was used to in Office) so that I have the freedom to delete something in one cell (in pages document) without causing changes.

How can I paste a part of a sheet that I copied in Numers in a pages document without the formulas, simply as text. Used this a lot in Office. When I make some changes in the pages document. f.i. deleting a cell, I don't want to change other cells. Also when I copy a part of a sheet from Numbers and one of the cells that is part of the formula is not also copied, when I paste in Pages it shows as an error.
Hope that You can me help with this.

    Leon,
There are two solutions to the first question, narrowing to one solution when you have a broken link causing an error.
    Here's the "works always" solution.
Copy (Command-C) the table or range in Numbers
Click off the table on the blank canvas of the sheet.
    Edit > Paste Values
    Command-C
    Switch to Pages
    Command-V

  • Xorg 1.6, nvidia brokenness w/ dual monitors [SOLVED]

    Hi,
I upgraded this past week to xorg-server 1.6.1-1, nvidia 180.44-1, and kernel26 2.6.29.1-4.  When I rebooted today I found a few things are broken:
I have a laptop and external monitor dual screen setup where each screen is a separate x screen, as setup by nvidia-settings.  After upgrading if I hold down any key for half a second or more (to trigger key repeat), my display on both monitors goes black and my mouse and keyboard stop responding (can't switch terminals, can't kill x...).  Resuming from xscreensaver also triggers this same problem.
Another oddity is that when I move my mouse cursor from one monitor to the other a lingering "copy" of the cursor stays on the monitor I just move away from at the transition point to the other monitor.
If I physically disconnect my external monitor (w/o changing xorg.conf) X displays none of the problems listed above.
My xorg.conf is below.  Most of it is probably not useful, although I should point out that I have input hotplugging disabled w/ AutoAddDevices false:

have you looked at /var/log/xorg.0.log for warnings and errors?
you need to get rid of ..
        Load           "type1"
        Load           "freetype"
If you want independent X screens you need to get rid of..
        Option         "Xinerama" "1"
or change "1" to "0" or "false"
For two screens you should only need two device sections and you have three.
Alot of people are having good results with a minimal xorg.conf with the new xorg-server. I can't really say too much about it as I still use my xorg.conf, although I could probably cut it down quite a bit.
It looks like your xorg.conf needs a lot of tweaking. Or you could just delete most everything in it and let autoconfig do it's thing. Then just add little by little till you get everything working.
Not sure how much it will help because i'm not using a laptop, but rather a desktop, but here's my working xorg.conf set up with nvidia and three seperate X screens.
    # Xorg configuration file altered by Leigh
    # Updated (Dec 2008)
    # Three independent screens
    # Three cards... (GeForce7900 PCI-E, GeForce6800 PCI-E, GeForce4 MX PCI)
    # Monitors... (Two Dell 2005 FPW's, One NEC MultiSync FE1250+ CRT)
    # Note: (Due to GeForce4 MX, I need to use the legacy nvidia drivers, nvidia-96xx.)

  • In OBIEE charts, how do you make drill downs work on custom formulas?

I posted this over on Linked In and didn't get an anser, so I'm hoping someone here has an answer.
I'm writing a summary query / chart for a dashboard in OBIEE 10.1 with a drill down (technically it's a "navigation") for more information. This chart breaks down the data by fiscal quarter and by geography (both are columns in the subject area) and I can get this drill down to work just fine. But I also have this chart broken down by some custom calculated fields (CASE WHEN statements) that classify revenue into Forecast / At Risk / Upside etc. (which are not columns or values of columns within the subject area).
When I add a drill down or navigate function onto those calculated columns, I'm getting a full data set ... not a filtered data set for that particular calculated field. (Yes, I have all of the IS PROMPTED filters set up correctly, and yes the formulas in the source and destination queries are identical).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the drill down or navigation work on custom formulas?
    Thanks
    Ted

  • How do I get Openoffice to integrate into Gnome like KDE

Just installed gnome and all its goodies and I'm taking some time to learn it as I've always been a KDE fanboy... but felt that KDE was way too bloated....
Anyways... I removed and reran setup thinking that since gnome wasn't installed before that that was why it wasn't showing up in the gnome applications menu...
Alas no such luck... a new session or a reboot doesn't fix the problem either.
I'll be damned if i'm going to make launcher's by hand for every Openoffice file as well as manually set up file associations.  Is the package broken? Or am I doing something wrong with Gnome?
Thanks in advance for any replies!
    James

The open office installer is supposed to have a gnome integration setting... just like the KDE one.   Basically I just want it to add to the gnome menu and set up the file associations...
I see there no package for the Ximian or I just don't know where to find it... I'll go search the forum (i'm not trying to be lazy here...     )
    Thanks for the reply...

  • Excel Formula Referring to a UNC Path is Corrupted when Open with Particular Workstation

    Hi Experts & Support,
I have a critical problem when trying to refer across Excel workbooks which all are located in different network folders.
There is a cell formula referring to another Excel file using UNC path, for instance, \\myserver\share\folder1\file.xlsm.
It works as long as anyone who is opening the file has no mapped network drive-- access this Excel file directly via UNC path.
However, it turns out that one of the workstation (Windows 2008 Server x64), when trying to access this file--even from UNC path directly-- the link is corrupted. The formula is changed automatically to \\myserver\folder1\file.xlsm (please notice a missing
    \share\).
And therefore, when the user on Windows 2008 Server save that Excel file, it causes the original file to be corrupted and every one who access the same file from another computers will all encounter a broken link then.
This Windows 2008 Server has no mapped network drive at all. We have done a lot of researches on the Internet but still couldn't find a solution to this. Is there any way we can investigate further and resolve this issue please?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
In general, this issue should be  caused by a mapped drive.you can refer to the KB below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328440/en-us
However, as you can be sure that there is no mapped drive in this server. could you please provide a litter more information about this server? Did a different version of Excel install in this server? Maybe you can try a repair of the office
    program.
And I guess we can avoid this by using Hyperlink function.

  • Help with writing a formula

    Hi all,
I am creating a report, and need help with writing a formula...
I am creating a report that shows how many visits/touches our reps have made to various grade accounts. It is broken down by calendar week, and I currently have a weekly "goal" number set that the reps have to meet. That "goal" number increases each week to keep a running total. (example: week 1: 7, week 2: 14, week 3: 21)
I have created some different formulas and one is this:
    SUM("Activity Metrics"."# of Activities" BY Date."Calendar Week")
What this shows me is how many "visits" there are per calendar week to customers, however it show me the total for all reps per week.
What I need is that total to show, but totaled for each rep individually.
What I was trying is this:
SUM("Activity Metrics"."# of Activities" BY Date."Calendar Week") BY Employee."Employee Name"
    But...I keep getting an error.
    Any suggestions?
I have the reporting book by Lairson, and have been referring to it...but my brain at this point is fried.
Thanks in advance for any help...(please forgive...I am new to OnDemand, and I am sure this is easy)

    Thanks for helping!
I created this formula as a column: SUM ("Activity Metrics"."# of Activities" BY Date."Calendar Week"), it is called "total number of visits per week" and it shows the totaled number of visits that all the reps have done per calendar week. For example: Week 1: 10 visits, Week 2: 37 visits, Week 3: 20 visits.
What I would like to do is take that column and break it down further, to show instead how many visits per week by sales rep there have been
So what I was trying was to take the "total number of visits per week" (SUM ("Activity Metrics"."# of Activities" BY Date."Calendar Week")) and use "Activity Owner" (Employee."Employee Name") to break it down further.
What I need to use is the total number of visits each rep has per calendar week.
I think I am getting the error because you can't use "BY" twice in a formula?

  • Pivot table by formula?

    Hi,
I have a strange client requirement, which I want to achieve without using a pivot table, if possible, as; -
    1. Pivot tables may not be scaleable to the volume of data which I will ultimately have in the solution
    2. I need to create two measures, which I can create separately in two pivot tables, but cannot find a way of presenting them together as one in a pivot table's chart.
The measures are based on; -
Company Name; Volume of Sales expressed as a percentage of total (for a data set which has numerous filters on various dimensions at runtime, so level based measures do not help as the entire total data set at runtime is dynamically determined)
Product Type; Company Name, Volume of Sales expressed as a percent of row parent
It is the two percentage values which I want to see alongside each other, with the Company Name based measure NOT being broken up by Product Type.
    So, to illustrate;
    Company Name   Volume
    Company A           30
    Company B           15
    Company C           5
    Gives;
    Company Name   Measure 1
    Company A           60%
    Company B           30%
    Company C           10%
(And no - my data is not that well behaved, if only!)
    Product Type   Company Name   Volume
    Problem Child    Company A         20
                          Company B         10
                          Company C          0
    Cash Cow         Company A         10
                          Company B           5
                          Company C           5
    Result
Product Type   Company Name   Measure 2
    Problem Child    Company A         66.67%
                          Company B         33.33%
                          Company C          0
    Cash Cow         Company A         50%
                          Company B         25%
                          Company C         25%
    My desired output is; -
Product Type   Company Name   Measure 2   Measure 1
    Problem Child    Company A         66.67%       60%
                          Company B         33.33%        30%
                          Company C          0                10%
    Cash Cow         Company A         50%            60%
                          Company B         25%            30%
Company C         25%            10%Any takers, or even suggestions as to how I can go about this without hard coding??
    thanks,
    Robert.

    thanks,
Robert.OK, here's my stab at it:
    1) For measure 2, your formula would be:
    Sum(table.sales BY table.product_type, table.company)/(SUM(table.sales BY table.product_type)*100.00
    2) For measure 1, your formula would be:
    Sum(table.sales BY table.company)/(SUM(table.sales)*100.00

  • Openoffice stopped working after pacman -Syu

I ran an update this morning, and now my Openoffice won't run. The update included:
    [12/07/04 10:08] upgraded glibc (2.3.3-2 -> 2.3.4-1)
    [12/07/04 10:08] upgraded wput (0.4-1 -> 0.5-1)
So I am guessing that the new glibc is the cause.
Trying to run OOO from the K menu or from within Konquerer does nothing. Trying to run /opt/openoffice/programs/soffice directly segfaults.
    Any thoughts?

    hi
i had someone with the same problem
try setting your DRI permissions right that should solve everything
here is what i got from him:
OK - false alarm.  This is not an OO problem.  (Although perhaps you can help
me with what the problem is.)
I've run into this before.  Apparently on my machine, /dev/dri (and
/dev/dri/card0) are always owned by root.root.  This, however, prevents
regular users from accessing that device.  And, apparently, Open Office tries
to access that device, fails, and then crashes.
I was able to solve this problem for my current session by setting ownership
to root.users.  However, this isn't a long term solution obviously.  And
although Judd previously tried to help me with this by providing me with what
looked like a workable long term solution (add the line "REGISTER dri/.*
PERMISSIONS root.users 660" to /etc/devfsd.conf) this does not seem to take
effect for some reason when I reboot.
Anyway, bottom line:  OO not broken, but if you've got any suggestions as to
why I'm having this problem or how to work around it, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks and sorry for the false alarm

  • Configure Formula dialog not being displayed

I have just installed LabVIEW and I am working thru the tutorials in the Getting Started Manual.  I am at the point where I am adding a Formula to the Generate and Display example VI.  When I place the Formula Express VI on the block diagram I expect to see the Configure Formula dialog box.  No such dialog is displayed.  There is a grey box with no other information placed on the block diagram.  Also, the run buton is shown as 'broken" such that I cannot 'Run" the VI.  I do not have a clue what could be going on here and I am wondering if there was a problem during installation that leaves me without Formula support.  I have not had any problems with placing and configuring any other VI's.
Please offer any thoughts or suggestions on how to solve this!
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Formula for totaling $ Amount per Category per Month

I'm doing a Numbers spreadsheet similar to a check register and one page is a budget where I'm trying to keep track of how much money was spent on each category compared to a set amount I'm trying to budget for. I have a separate table for each month of the year. I know how to make it work with a fixed range of cells, but the problem with that is its too labor intensive having to go back and forth and change those at the end and beginning of each month.
My current formula that works is: =−SUMIF(Personal::Transactions::D407:D485,D1,Personal::Transactions::E407:E485)
I have the minus SUMIF because I enter debits as negative numbers and credits as positive numbers. D407:D485 is the arbitrary range I've set it at for now, at the end of the month I'll shorten that.
If someone could guide me to a formula that would allow me to accomplish the same thing but fixed at, say, for July, where it would total all $ Amounts where the date is greater than or equal to July 1, 2014 and less than or equal to July 31, 2014, with the category of Groceries, that is what I'm looking for.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

My spreadsheet is the exact same concept as the Personal Budget template, which when opened says "Monthly Budget". The difference being I don't want a spreadsheet for every month, I want one spreadsheet for an entire year, then I have a Budget tab within the spreadsheet for planning purposes. With one spreadsheet for the entire year, I just want to adjust my formula to be able to search the entire table, exclude all data not within the parameters of a given month, July for instance, should only include data where the Date field is >= July 1, 2014 and <= July 31, 2014, and then from there broken into the categories entered. All I'm looking for is the specific language to put in my formula to make it hunt down only data that meets those parameters, rather than having to manually go in and select the cells that make up the month. The laborious part of that is you have to set an arbitrary number of cells as a guestimate up front, then at the end of the month you have to adjust it. I'd rather automate the formula if possible, I just don't know how.
If you look at the table on the template (below), what I want to do differently than this, is have the formulas in the Actual column, pull for only a specific month. Then, I essentially have 12 of these tables on one spreadsheet tab to summarize each month's budget, actual, and difference numbers.
Sorry for my confusion. I really do appreciate your time and effort.
