Formula variable display format

Hi,
I have created a formula variable to display date in the columns section. The problem is that this value is being displayed as amount. ( eg: '20.100.304,0000000'. required output - '2010.03.04' ).
I have tried different display settings but still not able to get it right.

P.D.

Hi,
You need to maintain the settings in Formula variables,

  • BW - problem with formula variable (date format)

    Hi,
(sorry if I'm using different term than yours.. this is my 2nd query.. still new with BW)
I need to create 1 query: Support Message Aging Report.
Basically it will have 5 columns: Not Due, 0 Day, 1 Day, 2-10 Days, >10 Days.
and 1 input selection is: key date.
the formula is: number of aging day = key date - due date.
I have no issue on the 1st and 2nd column. For that I just create 1 customer exit.
My problem is on how to separate the over due support message by day (due date < key date).
I tried create 2 formula variable for key date and due date. Then from these 2 vars, I can get the number of days.
Problem comes when the calculation is cross month/year. I suspect maybe because the return from the formula var is in number format and not date... yyyymmdd. Then, I change the dimensions from number to date.. it is working for key date.. dd.mm.yyyy.
but for the due date, I got problem... it keeps give me warning saying: value 'D' invalid for property dimension of element etc.///
below are details for both formula variable.. please advice which area should I fix or maybe you can suggest any good idea for my query.. thanks so much
    1. ZKEYDATE - customer exit (value  input data) - dimensions date - NO ISSUE (OUTPUT: dd.mm.yyyy)
    2. ZDUEDATE - replacement path (ref char ZBW02C08) - replacement rule: infoobject, key - dimension date - GOT WARNING...
ZBW02C08: contains due date and the type is date: yyyymmdd

If I were you, I'd try two things:
best way - have the infoprovider changed to have a new key figure for the number of days difference
    - to do this with formulae (especially crossing months and years - what about leap years) is hard to maintain and develop
other way - make a virtual key figure - i did this once but I forget how exactly. There's a userexit or BADI somewhere which can be used for this.
Either of these ways allows the calculation to be done in ABAP itself where date1 - date2 gives you the number of days difference.
By the way though, this is in the wrong forum. I'd bet if this was in a BI forum, you'd have an answer already.

  • Formula variable not displayed in proper format

    Hai,
I used a keyfigure formula variable, that gets current date, in a query (In columns, key figure structure to calculate no. of days). The no. of days are calculated peoperly and everything is just perfect.
But after executing the query, when I display text element=> variables, the system is displaying the variable as 20,060,803 as opposed to date format like 8/3/2006.
Question: Is it how the date formula variable is displayed or there is a system error?
I remember seeing it in date format.
Can somebody comment on this or suggest a solution.
I couldn't find notes on this too!

In the restricted key figure formula definition, use the Data function "Process Value as Date DATE" and enclose your restricted key figure calculation inside the date parenthesis.
I have another related problem.  I am trying to use dates to calculate 30 days before a (date formula variable), 60 days after, etc.  Some of the dates are calculating correctly, but some are just returning an X.  All appear to be extracting with the same format.
    Anyone have a similar problem?

  • How can I display a formula variable in the report?

    Hi,
I have a requirement to display a formula variable value in the report. When the user runs a report this variable value should be called once and displayed below the report title or in a specified cell. Is it possible something like this could be done? if yes, can someone tell me how can I achieve this functionality. I appreciate your time and effort with points.
    Thanks,
    Rao.

    Hi Bhanu,
In the query properties you can only see text variables and not the formula variables. If I define my number of working days as text variable and I can display in the report. However, I need to use this variable in some calculation in the report, so it has to be formula variable in order to use in calculations. I appreciate your input with points.
    Thanks,
    Rao.

  • Issue in displaying Overall Result of a formula variable

    Hi All,
I have a fields as Years of Sevice in my report. This is defined as char. I am bringing this in the report by creating a calculated key figure and then using a formula variable that is defined as the replacement path of the Years of SErvice.
Now when i execute the report , I dont see the Overall Result. I checked the porperties as Summation.
The overall result is displayed as X for all the columna
    Report has
Rows - Leaving Reason - defined as Char
Columns - Years of Service  >3
                    Years of Service 3-6
                    Years of Service 6-10
Can someone shed some light where i am going wrong?
    Regards,
    Harika.

You have said years of service is declared as a characteristic. Is it brought into the report as an formula variable through Calculated key figure ???

  • Display Formula Variable in Web Query or RRMX

    Hi,
I'm calculating a Formula Variable for Shipping Days in my query.  I would like this to display in my web page in the upper right of my screen.   I'm mostly interested in doing this for the web.  How would I access the value of this variable and display it on the web page outside of the table web item?
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated!...

  • Display decimals in Formula variable

    Hello Experts,
I have a CHAR field(Say A) which has only numbers coming in such as 10.85 , 12.78  etc . Now I have created a Formula variable (Say B) in Bex so that I could use this in some calculations . The formula variable is defined on this CHAR field with following properties : Replacement on A , Dimensions to Number.
When I run the report , I get values rounded in B as 11 , 13 instead of 10.85 and 12.78 . I checked the display properties of formula variable ,made it to 3 decimals...but still the out put remains rounded values.
    Appreciate for any help,
    Jb

    Hi JB:
I think you need to change the definition of InfoObject "A" to use "Key Figure" Type instead of "CHAR".
Take a look at the document below, it might help.

  • Formula Variable in WAD (Counts) Not Displaying

    Hi Gurus,
I am using BI7.0.  I have a query that analyzes a charactersitic, such as Priority, uses 2 date (charactersitic[Create Date and Close Date) fields.  I created a new forumla variable, using a Replacement path, to calculate the difference between the dates to derive the difference between the dates and a formula variable to derive the average number of days between the dates.  That is working well.
However, when using the Bar Graph or the Pie graph I can not see the value of the formula variable that contains the average number of days.
I am assuming that because the key figure is a formula variable and not a 'key figure' then I would need to remodel my date fields as Key Figures in order for the Web Items, such as Pie/Bar Charts to view them.
Has anyone seen this before.....is there anything I can do at the query level in order for my formula variable to show up in the WAD?
    Thank you

    Pallavi
You are correct.  I had to select the "show summary/total" on the Web Item properities and the results defaulted.
    Thank you

  • BEx Analyzer: Formula Variable with Replacement path change Month with Day

Hi experts I'm facing this issue in BEx Analyzer.
I need to have some dates in format DD/MM/YYYY in Index Structure, in order to do this I've created a formula variable with replacement path referenced to 0CALDAY characteristic.
The formula works but it behaves in a strange way:
if the day is higher than 12 the displaied result is correct (DD/MM/YYYY)
if the day is lower or equal 12 the displaied result is wrong (MM/DD/YYYY)
    I'm on BW 7.01 SP6 and BEx Analyzer 7.10 SP12, excel 2007.
anybody has faced this issue before?
    any help will be appreciated
    Daniele Cortopassi

    Hi Daniele,
This seems pretty strange. Pls. redo validation with the dump data, as being a flat struture BEx does not apply any logic changes. May be it might have been MM/DD/YYYY format as in workbooks. Else you may change the property of 0calday display as "Text". Business Explorer > Display > KeyMaster Data/Texts > Texts (Plese check this option). If you are using some text table you may maintain the same using BI0/TCALDAY (Similar to BI0/TCALMONTH2). Guess it should be an excel based issue; if not you may try the same in WAD/Report designer to verify the nature of the issue. If you don't face these inconsistencies in WAD/RD then you may change excel formatting options. Lastly, please let us know if the infoobject has some predefined settings in RSA1 > Infoobject > (BEx) Properites.

  • Using a formula variable to return a date

    Hi everyone
    Please can you help.
I have created a two formula variables, one to return the first day of the period entered and one to return the last day of the period.  I return these to the query through a calculated key figure.
The code I have written to fill the date is working but obviously returns the date as a number.  I have tried to use the function calculate as date however the result is just an 'X'.  I then tried concatenating the result I want to return to the query but then I get a RAISE_EXCEPTION short dump.
Has anyone else tried to do this before?
    Regards
    Gail

    Hi Gopal
I am using customer exits to fill the variable using the standard FM's FIRST_DAY_IN_PERIOD_GET and LAST_DAY_IN_PERIOD_GET.  I do get the correct dates however because I am returning the value to a key figure it is displaying the value as 20,080,201.  What I then tried to do was use the concatenate command to give me the date in the format that I require which is 01.02.2008 and I then got the short dump.
You have mentioned using a customer exit variable based on the date.  That's exactly what I want to do however what do I return the value to in the query?

  • User input formula variable with greater than/less than operators for KFG

    Hello all,
I have used a formula in my query that is a difference of two key figures .For e.g:
Difference = tax from system A  -  tax from system B.
Now when the users run the report they should be prompted for the 'Difference' threshold for seeing the report say where difference is greater 100 or equal to 10 and so on.Currrently I have created a formula variable with 'user input' and created a 'condition' to display 'Difference' greater than the user entered value.
However,it is required to have various selection options for setting the threshold of difference. For e.g User should be able to set say 'equal to'/'greater than/less than/not equal to operator for 'difference' in the initial selection screen of the report.
With the current user-input formula variable I am not getting these 'greater than' etc operators.Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Ya know, that's all well and good ... BUT ... WHAT IF you do want to sort text type columns with Greater Than and Less Than operatiors??
SQL does it just Fine ... so WHY does APEX have the limit??? This is an Oracle BUG ... it SHOULD NOT limit the operators ... I realize "they" may be trying to be helpful with proper constraints to field searches ... but ... if SQL can do it, then ... no need for a limit.
    EG ...
    Show the records where
the "Begin_Year-Wk" data is less than or equal to "2009-09" AND
the "End_Year-Wk" data is greater than or equal to "2009-04"
... to give everything that was running in that 5 week period whether or not it starts within that time frame
I can run this query perfectly fine via SQL ... but not in APEX ... unless I reconvert a lot of strings back to numbers, and for sorting / formatting / explain-to-user purposes, I really don't want them to be numbers.
So ... there's gotta be a hidden tweak for operators somewhere ...

  • Formula variable in Report painter

    Hi
Normally when ever you create a formula varibale for year or period system will
check the period and year from current system year and period(S001 and S002)
I am looking for a solution where i can create variable which is independent of
    current year and period.
Lets Say if i give 2006 and period 7(of 2006)system has to give results
in the predefined columns like 2006 of period 7 and 2005 of period 7 and 2004 of period 7 and 2003 of period 7(I have 4 columns)
Can any one tell me how to create this using the formual variable, which will allow
me to select in the input screen any period and year and display the results  as per my own requirement.
    Thanks
    Lily

    Hi Ramachandra
    Sorry for late reply
As per your reply,i am not still clear, can i put in more clear my question again
    Selection screen
    Year-2006
    Period-6
I have 5 columns ,can you specify me the formula for 5 columns in your reply.
Column1- (it has to display 2nd  quarter of 2006)
Column2-(it has to display 1nd  quarter of 2006)
Column3-(it has to display 4nd  quarter of 2005)
Column4-(it has to display 3nd  quarter of 2005)
Column5-(it has to display 2nd  quarter of 2005)
Pls specify me FYEAR and Period from and period to which formula variable i need
to use,how many variables i need to create for this purpose.
Keep in view that selction screen i can give 2006,or 2005 or 2007,but system has to display 5 quarters back data in in 5 columns.
This is urgent, can you pls help.
    Thanks

  • Prompts issue and Formula variables.

    Hi,
    1. I have a variable in Bex report as Creation date, but when it comes to webi the default prompts comes as creation date(From) and Creation Date(To). Is there anyway to modify or delete these default prompts.
    2. In one Bex report , i have a formula variable purchase order, based on this only the report output(as a condition) is displayed.I think that the conditions are not transferred from bex to webi, because the webi output is standard for all values of the purchase order. Is there any way to delete the default purchase order prompt

    Hi
    Answer to Q1.
There would be a Filters specified to prompts DATA as creation date(From) and Creation Date(To). You have to change the filter condition as REQIRED.
    Answer to Q2
FORMULA variable is not transfer to WEBI. You have to define a NEW FORMULA in the WEBI Query Designer.
Hope its a use ful info..

  • Help with formula variable that will give me period #

column A = $  for fiscal year period  variable  (using 0RMA_FIP,  SAP delivered variable for period)
Column B = $ for fiscal year period  variable minus 1  (previous period)
In Column C,  if fiscal year period entered in 0RMA_FIP was 001/YYYY  (january)  I want column C to be zero,  if not,  it will be a variance between column A & Column B.
    I think know how to do boolean logic:  (FV_Period == 1) *0 + (Column B % Column A)
What i am having trouble with is creating FV_Period  as a replacement path formula varialbe so that it will contain the value of the period,   1 for January,  or 2 thru 12 for other months..

While creating the Formula variable with replacement type, you need to mention the offset start and offset length.
I believe if your Fiscal Period is displayed as 2010009 then
offset start = 5 and offset length = 3 should give you the value 009 which is required.
