FORMULA VARIABLE ERROR IN BI7

hi friends,
We have upgrade system to BI7
Now we are facing problem when we copy the Formula key figure and paste in the Column row of the Query designer.
but when we create new formula key figure there is no such error for the same.
Cut/paste is to fasten the query desing ................!
can any one have the Solution to this Query
points will be rewarded...........................................!

Formula Variable error

Hi All
I have a requirement to calculate an aging bucket. ( CURRENT_DATE - EXPIRE_DATE). I have Expire_date as a characteristic InfoObject of DATS type.
I found a solution to create formula variable in BEX and use replacement path functionality.
When i do the same i can save the variable and the query. but on performing a query check i get the following error:
variable used incorrectly or does not exist.
Kindly suggest why this is happening. We are using Bex 7. I refered to the following link.

Error in creating Formula Variable

Hi All:
I'm having problems in creating formula variable. Trying to create FV on a characteristic using replacement path with attribute value , but the wierd part is it's not giving me any attributes it's just blank. Any help would be appreciated....

Right click on the FM, create -> Characteristic -> attribute value -> but the attribute are not showing up. This happens if the attribute is of key figure type. I was able to do this in another system (ASIA DEV) but now trying in Europe Dev.

Formula variable used in exception and condition - gives a check error

The same formula variable is used in a condition and exception within a query. When I click on "check", I get the message "Variable <myvar> Is Used By More Than One Infoobject". The variable is a formula variable, processed by User Entry/Default Value, with optional entry, ready for input, Dimension "number", default value -0.01. However, the query still saves, generates and executes without problem.
This is with BW 7.0, SP 14. And with query designer 3.5, version 3500.7.572
I'd be grateful if a few people could try to reproduce this, letting me know their version. To reproduce it:
Create a query. Create formula variable processed by User Entry/Default Value, with optional entry, ready for input, Dimension "number", default value -0.01. Create a condition using the variable. Create an exception using the variable. Click on Check. Save and execute the query.

It is a warning and you can ignore it , if in query execution you get correct result / output...(then it implies u r on safe side)
But if you are so much concerned about warning then as a workaround just create another Formulae variable and use it in Condition and use the previous formulae variable for Exception.
This way you will have 2 variables for 2 different purposes
and you will get rid of the warning message.
So far if you get the correct output of query then there is no need to worry.

Attributes dissappear from the formula variable after upgrade

Hi,
We have upgraded from 3.X to 7.X. When i run the reporrt, i get the error saying that attribute XXXX for characterstic 0object in variable ZFormula variable couldn't found.
When i went and checked in the formula variable, under replacement path
Replace variable with
Info Object
Replace With
Attribute value
Attribute
I couldnt find my XXXX attribute but with error mesage.
I tried to create a same formula variable,but could't find the XXXX variable under ATTRIBTE.
I coldnt find the proper solution or note. Did anyone had issue like this?

Thanks for the replies. But my issue is not with variants. Attributes are missing when I try to assign attribute of char in replacement path and also in my exception aggregation in query designer, reference char isu201D-1u201D. I am not very sure how can it be u201C-1u201D. Is it upgrade issue?

Formula Variable in WAD (Counts) Not Displaying

Hi Gurus,
I am using BI7.0. I have a query that analyzes a charactersitic, such as Priority, uses 2 date (charactersitic[Create Date and Close Date) fields. I created a new forumla variable, using a Replacement path, to calculate the difference between the dates to derive the difference between the dates and a formula variable to derive the average number of days between the dates. That is working well.
However, when using the Bar Graph or the Pie graph I can not see the value of the formula variable that contains the average number of days.
I am assuming that because the key figure is a formula variable and not a 'key figure' then I would need to remodel my date fields as Key Figures in order for the Web Items, such as Pie/Bar Charts to view them.
Has anyone seen this before.....is there anything I can do at the query level in order for my formula variable to show up in the WAD?

Report Painter - Use of Constants / Local Formula Variable

Hi,
I am using constant and/or local formula variable in report painter in FSI.
I could use both the values for calculating percentages, ie. it can be used for multiplication or division. However, when I try to use it for addition or subtraction, I am getting the error message no. KH206.
In all cases, I am using different values in the formula, i.e. a absolute figure and a GL based figure.
I am not able to understand, why it even allows me for calculating percentage.
Can anyone help me in using a absolute figure for input and thereafter use it in addition / subtraction.
I would prefer an immediate solution to this as I am in the final stages of this report.

Can you elaborate bit further. You mean to say I should create a Constant with some value.
Thereafter how should I bring that in the form. But, How do I enter the Constant in the Formula... There is no key for entering any text in the formula.. there are only ID (the values which we bring in the form and which can be selected for the formula) and numbers which can be entered.
So how do I enter the name of the Constant?
I tried just keying in the name of the Constant, and I could check the formula also, However, while saving the form, I am getting an error,

Diagnosis
In element WCaplimit Bis letztem ATag bis &$BISD the system adds quantities and values or different currencies.

FORMULA VARIABLE "NO OF DAYS"

my report is based on infoset(ISARGL) and need one field (No of days)
No of days = 0CALDAY - POSTING DATE.
BEFORE I WAS NOT HAVING 0CALDAY IN INFOSET(ISARGL) AND ODS, BUT I ADDED IN BOTH ODS THIS 0CALDAY.
POSTING DATE I HAVE IN INFOSET.
for No of Days i am creating CKF based on formula variable.
here i used replacement path, KEY, DATE.
Formula variable FISFV_CD IS MADE FOR 0CALDAY.
GETTING SYSTEM ERROR.
Formula variable FISFV_CD is used in formula element No of Days and is
to be replaced from characteristic 0CALDAY or from an attribute of
0CALDAY. However, 0CALDAY is not contained in InfoProvider ISARGL.
Neither does it reference any ISARGL characteristic to No of Days and
0CALDAY is not a basic characteristic.

Formula variable not displayed in proper format

Hai,
I used a keyfigure formula variable, that gets current date, in a query (In columns, key figure structure to calculate no. of days). The no. of days are calculated peoperly and everything is just perfect.
But after executing the query, when I display text element=> variables, the system is displaying the variable as 20,060,803 as opposed to date format like 8/3/2006.
Question: Is it how the date formula variable is displayed or there is a system error?
I remember seeing it in date format.
Can somebody comment on this or suggest a solution.
I couldn't find notes on this too!

In the restricted key figure formula definition, use the Data function "Process Value as Date DATE" and enclose your restricted key figure calculation inside the date parenthesis.
I have another related problem. I am trying to use dates to calculate 30 days before a (date formula variable), 60 days after, etc. Some of the dates are calculating correctly, but some are just returning an X. All appear to be extracting with the same format.
Anyone have a similar problem?

Formula Variables and their use

I have a scenario where I have a date selection using a variable.
I get from and to date defaulted to 1st day of the month and current date
Next, I created a formula variable to calculate the difference between these 2 dates.
I can't uses replacement path variable to calculate the difference becaue the dates are not part of the transaction data.
When ever I bring formual variable into a formual it gives an error
Terminate: Variable D1QDQC684JU76RD3FQ10GECZ9 (D1QDQC684JU76RD3FQ10GECZ9) does not exist or is incorrectly used D1QUMP50BGW24SQ9PQMZDSMD1 [A418(BRAIN)]
This error is not in the customer exit. This error happens in the query designer design phase during syntax checks.

there was a problem in defining the variables, while u r opening your query, and if its getting terminated means, definition of the variable and its usage is wrong somewhere else.

Is that you don't want the user to enter any decimal values for this variable???
Then best way is to create a Formula Key Figure of type Customer Exit. then you can writ the code in I_STEP =3 whoich will do the validation and throw an error message in case of deciaml values.

I just found a solution via the below link
in Bex Formula variabel, Current calander day(sap exit) missing.
Here he is trying to use the existing formula variable.
My doubt here is, Even i could not find this varaible in BEX formula variable, But could see this in BI Content path as mentioned in the above link. DO i have to transport this varaible , or i simply can activate it in production?
I just could find this in BI Content but not in MetaData Repository.

Formula variable as reference value for condition

Hi,
I am trying to use a formula variable (user entry, Optional) for a condition. I use all characteristics in drill down independently while defining the condition. I have 2 issues here
1. If I give a default value for the variable to display as 500, the report displays only 5 and even in the variable I see default value changed to 5.
2. If I enter a two digit number for the variable even if there are records matching the condition, I am getting message "No data was found meeting the above conditions"
Would appreciate any help on why this is happening. We are on BW 3.0B Support pack 20.
