Formula variables & Exits in Report painter

I have to create a report with YTD values where I have to check -
If company code =1 then from period = 003 else from period = 001
Can I do by creating a formula variable for the Period ? If yes, then how?

Hi Bhanu,
In the query properties you can only see text variables and not the formula variables. If I define my number of working days as text variable and I can display in the report. However, I need to use this variable in some calculation in the report, so it has to be formula variable in order to use in calculations. I appreciate your input with points.

My question is how to display the plan data for fiscal year 2012 with the version 6 without explicit/hard code to input version 6 when user just only key in the fiscal year 2011?Any method or variable can be done in report painter which do not appear in the input screen?And How ?
I have try include the variable for version in the column but it appear in the selection input screen where i do not want the version to be appear in the selection input screen where everytime need to remember which version.
I also have try to include the version in the column without variable and I need to key in the value version 6 which this is hard coded where I can't analyst for plan data for budget 2011 where it required me every time need to change the value in report painter for version 5 in order to be able to view the plan data for budget 2012.

I am creating a new report using Report painter. Though, it is working fine, I want to bring one of the field for selection. How to add variable ? I created a variable but I am trying to insert this variable in the report painter... I am unable to find any way.

Go to Global Parameters Definitaion in report painter, variable will be used only along with the field, just in global paramerters enter your desired field and click in next column, system will show you a pop up select your variable for that field...
now its just done run the report and test it!
If you still not make it refer to standard report of such kind, you will surely get it....

Report Painter - ERP Financials - Question on Value Variable useage

I want to use a value variable that works in Report Writer (table GLPCT, field MSL [quantity] but cannot select MSL as a variable field in Report Painter to insert the same variable (it is not a selectable characteristic) using the same Library and Table.
Is there a way to make the field selectable in Report Painter in order to select a value variable that uses the field MSL ? It is a valid field in the Library that I am building the report in.
In building the columns, I can select characteristic fields such as:
Ledger
Record Type
Version
Fiscal Year
Profit Center
Functional Area
Account number
Period
etc
but not MSL Quantity. Is there configuration to make this (or any field) accessible to Report Painter ?
Any advice is welcome.....

Quantity is a key figure. When you create the column values you would get this from the key figure drop list.

If this is a COPA Report painter report, then go to transaction KE32, double click on the relevant report, click on the variables tab (on the right) and click on the button 'Sort Variables'. There are sequence numbers that you can change to position the variables appropriately.

Formula Variables in Query Designer

Hello All-
I'm using a formula variable in my report which is of type user exit. In my FM, I am calculation some Sales Growth Analysis based on some rates from the TCURR table. In short, I am calulating "FX Rate" for each currency (USD, EUR etc) I have in my cube.
In the end, my e_t_range table will contain an "FX Rate" for each currency...in many cases the table will hold more than one value. The problem is that my query dumps if I have more than one value in the e_t_range table. I've used regular user exits before on Chars and I was allowed to have multiple entried in the e_t_range table. What is the nature of formula variables? Is it the case that I can only pass one value to my query with formula variables?

Once Bex 3.5 query is opened in Bex 7.0, you can't open the same query in Bex 3.5. If you are still able to open the query in Bex 3.5 means you have not opened it in Bex 7.0.
Please check it while opening a query in Bex 7.0. It would ask you question " Do you want open bex 3.5 query in Bex 7.0?

Hi Sagar...
Please change the short, medium and long text as you wish (please have all the description in the long text), by default system displays with the medium text, but no need to worry, when you keep the cursor on the head column of the text (where medium text is maintained), system displays with long text also. By this you can see the long text. This option we may use for adding additional text there, maintain some text at medium text and maintain additional text at long text option, so when you keep the cursor at head of the column with medium text, you see long text in addition.
If you want to have the long text instead of short or medium text make changes like this..
By this you make the text length at maximum i.e. 21 digits I suppose and then.....
By the above you select "long text" as default

Report painter- problem in creating formula variable- ps

i have copied report 6P3 - 6PP1-001 Act/Com/Total/Plan from library in report painter.
our requirement is we want two user fields from cj20n in this report. they are prps-usr04
and prps-usr05.
i have added these in header as special text variable as they were ALREADY available at header under
MASTER DATA FOR PROJECTS / WBS ELEMENT IN REPORT-WRITER.
now my requirement is to add new columns. for that i required these two fields in formula.
but as they are not present in formula component i am not able to get it.
what should i do to enter these fields in component list in formula?

ActRunningBal is a running total calculated in crystal or database field? If it is a database field then you can try this
if {command.CR-Amount} <>0 then
{command.CR-Amount}
else
previuous()+previous({command.Dr-Amount})
If it is a running total you cannot apply previous function on it.

Formula Variables for Report Painter

I have a Report Painter Report which displays month wise report in columns and now i want the report to be displayed based on the period mentioned in selection screen.
Can someone please advice how do I do the same with use of Formula Variables.

Go to the selection screen and press F1 and go to technical details to name the name of the screen field. example: 8A-VON (period from) and 8A-BIS (period to).
In your report designer, you enter the those variable for the "period" characteristic and tick the variable ON/OFF checkbox.

Report Painter - Use of Constants / Local Formula Variable

Hi,
I am using constant and/or local formula variable in report painter in FSI.
I could use both the values for calculating percentages, ie. it can be used for multiplication or division. However, when I try to use it for addition or subtraction, I am getting the error message no. KH206.
In all cases, I am using different values in the formula, i.e. a absolute figure and a GL based figure.
I am not able to understand, why it even allows me for calculating percentage.
Can anyone help me in using a absolute figure for input and thereafter use it in addition / subtraction.
I would prefer an immediate solution to this as I am in the final stages of this report.

Can you elaborate bit further. You mean to say I should create a Constant with some value.
Thereafter how should I bring that in the form. But, How do I enter the Constant in the Formula... There is no key for entering any text in the formula.. there are only ID (the values which we bring in the form and which can be selected for the formula) and numbers which can be entered.
So how do I enter the name of the Constant?
I tried just keying in the name of the Constant, and I could check the formula also, However, while saving the form, I am getting an error,
Element WCaplimit Bis letztem ATag bis &$BISD is not defined correctly -> check definition
Message no. KH206
Diagnosis
In element WCaplimit Bis letztem ATag bis &$BISD the system adds quantities and values or different currencies.
Can you please revert back with step by step solution?

Report Painter using user exit U002 to create a formel variable for FI-SL

Hi,
I would like to use Report painter creating a formel variable with U002(VAR1,VAR2) for FI-SL and did following:
1. go to TCode: GS11
2. Formel: selecting U002 from Formel-Exit list and giving var1 and var2
      '#U002(VAR1, VAR2)'
3. Save
4. Erro message: U002 is not definiert.
Why???
U002 is already implementiert in
Class ZCL_IM_FI_FORMULA_EXIT
method IF_EX_G_SET_FORMULA_EXIT~EVALUATE
CASE flt_val.
    WHEN 'U002'

Report Painter - variables in formulas

Dear all,
we try to use value variables in formulas within Report Painter reports which should not influence the selection. Example: the benchmark of a daily rate is 975 - and the report should calculate the variance between the effective daily rate (total of service-provider costs divided by number of rendered hours divided by 8). The 975 should not be stored as a fixed value within the formula but should be defined as a value variable.
Ideally the value should be editable at the selection screen.
Has anybody an idea?

I suspect you are not able to use the '& symbol in the formula in your system because the note 593897 was not present in old release.
Due to this note there is no need to enter '&' symbol for variables in the formula but in order for the variables to be used please make sure that the variable is contained in the general data selection of the report.
