Formulas in Workbook causing the Workbook to open very slowly

Hi Everyone,
I have a very long pending issue fro our users. We have a workbook which has two queries inserted.  And there is a Formula which is hardocded up to 5000 rows. And due to thiis workbook is opening  very slolwly.
The Formulas is
=IF(BExGetData($X$3,$X$6,$B13,$X$4,$X$5,$G13,W$11,W$12)="#NV",,BExGetData($X$3,$X$6,$B13,$X$4,$X$5,$G13,W$11,W$12))
The above formula replaces #NV value with a blank  and then if there is any other value  apart from #NV, then it calculates a different value in the back end. Since the business , does not know  howmany rows of data comes, so he hardcoded the formula for 5000 rows as this is the maximum count.
Can anyone please provide a solution to avoid so many hardcoded formulas and have an alternative using some macross.
Please feel free to ask questions?
Regards,
A

Any ideas on this.............. This is a IP  Workbook . Basically  the formualas are written to 5000 times in the workbook to perform those functions. So, when there are no 5000 rows of records, then also formulas are calculated. Is there any way to write a Macros for the same and  include the formula once in the  Workbook and loop itusing macros code. And this loop should work for the no.of rows that are present in the workbook. may be 1 rowto 5000 rows and so on.

Clicking on a link often causes the link to open behind the window with the link.
This occurs most frequently when only one or two windows are open.

    Work around found.
The problem was occurring in links on a web page I created for my home page with "target=_new". Changing this to "target=_blank" fixed the problem. The old links worked fine before version16.

  • Mail in Mavericks is a disaster for me.  Mail opens VERY slowly and cannot be deleted. I can move copies of messages to On My Mac but the original stays in the In Box. Scrolling works then it doesn't then it does. I tried every advice here; nothing helps.

I've read and tried all the solutions proffered to others about Mail in Mavericks and scrolling issues as well.  They either are not applicable (hard drive seems fine; is less than half full; permissions have been repaired; Disk Utility finds no hard drive issues) or don't work (rebuilding, removing envelope files and re-importing, removing various preference files).
I have about 200,000 emails in four In Boxes.  Prior to Mavericks this was not a problem.  I have tried to remove them in case that helps but when I move them to a new folder in "On My Mac" the new folder is (very slowly) created but the original messages stay in the In Box as well.  I went through one box and deleted over 52,000 messages -- or so I thought.  When I closed mail later, I got a message saying the messages could not be moved to trash.  They are in the In Box now.
Maybe the problem is not Mavericks, but it started when I upgraded, and except for scrolling, which has been problematic elsewhere as well but no where more than in Mail, everything but Mail seems to be working ok.
Are other people having problems to this extent?  I can wait a little while for a fix but I get over 2,000 emails a day (yes, a lot of spam) and I don't think I can go on in perpetuity without the ability to delete messages.  I've used Apple Mail since its inception and would prefer to keep it but may be forced out.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
While logged in as Guest, launch Mail and set up one of your IMAP accounts. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • After updating to Acrobat PRO 9.5.2 PDFs open VERY Slowly

I am using Acrobat PRO on a workstation (Windows 7 Ultimate - Service Pack 1)
After updating to Acrobat PRO 9.5.2, all pdf files open VERY slowly (30-60 secs). It does not appear to matter if the file is local to the workstation or on the network. Also the size of the file does not seem to matter or whether this is the first file opened or a subsequent file.
In addition just opening Adobe Acrobat is equally slow.
I have tried turning off the anti-virus software. No impact.
    Any suggestions appreciated...

Have you tried "Repair Acrobat Installation" to see if it makes any difference?  To do this try this:
    Help >> Repair Acrobat Installation.
Another option is to press the shift key while clicking or double clicking on the PDF file to open.  this stops loading all the useless fonts in the document and other useless plugins in acrobat.
The third option is to delete the registry key that appears to be corrupted . However, if you nothing about registry keys, then you can't do it unless your company systems people can help you.  The registry entries are:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Adobe \ Acrobat Reader
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Adobe \ Adobe Acrobat
It is a question of renaming them while you have exited from acrobat.  Once this is done, restart the system and start/launch the acrobat and the fresh keys will be generated.  PLEASE NOTE: DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE THE HELP OF YOUR SYSTEMS PEOPLE IN YOUR COMPANY.
    Hope this helps.

  • Forms page opens very slowly for single user

    Hi ,
We have a user in our EBS environment names OPERATIONS under which all scheduled custom concurrent programs run.
The problem is it takes a long time just to open the forms page when I login as operations user , but when i login via other users such as sysadmin, the forms page opens very quickly.
Any particular reason for it ?
    EBS 11.5.10.2
    DB 11.2.0.2
    Thanks
    Vicky

    Hi,
One reason which i can see is:
Since you said all the concurrent programs are running under this user name, I presume MOAC. is set for all the Org's for this user and as a result when the form is opened it has to fetch data for all the Org's for this users, whereas for other users it might be fetching data only few Org's.
    How to confirm this:
    1. Please enable the FND:Debug log for this users and check the data for MOAC assignment.
    2. Repeat the same steps for a different user and compare the Org's initialized.
    Hope it helps!!

  • Photoshop opens very slowly ...

    Heyo Community!
First of all, my english is bad so maybe you find the sense of my sentences...
    my problem:
Photoshop CS3 opens very slowly. Not the programm, i mean the files. When i make FILE -> NEW and make my setting and press OK it takes about 45 seconds to 1 minute to make the new file.
When the file is open, it works normal till i want to make the next file.
anyone maybe has a solution for my problem?
    thx forward Mario

This is a known bug and has been reported many times in the forum.
The solution, weird as it sounds, is to make a "generic printer driver" your default printer. If you don't have one, download it here:

  • BYMONTHDAY is causing the error while opening the ics file in outlook when event is exported from SharePoint Calendar

    Hi All,
I am trying to parse the SharePoint recurrence data to get the RRULE for the ics file the RRULE parsed works fine for Yearly and Daily but it causes error when opening the ics file for the Monthly and
weekly recurrence recurrence. I have opened the ics file in the notepad and observed that the BYDAY and BYMONTHDAY causes the problem. If I remove the tag the file opens fine but with wrong recurrence pattern.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Ajeet,
I see that this is an extremely old post, but I thought I would refresh it with a bit more info.
I wish I had found this post a few days ago.  I realized the same thing as well.  I don't quite understand the reasoning behind requiring the by day date must be the same as  the event date.  Another thing with rrecurrence is that if
you pick a day of the week for a recurrence (i.e. Friday), then the start date must also occur on a Friday (I am just casting it as the first Friday of the month).
I have come into this same issue with the BYMONTHDAY.  I am currently working on trying to configure an .ICS file to allow for multiple monthly recurrences, but it appears Outlook does not support multiple days within an event (determined by trying
to create an even in Outlook and picking the recurrence option).  It seems that you are only allowed to have an event on (for example) every Friday of each month, or the (x) day of each month.  You cannot set any other occurrences of any other day
within the same ICS file.  Hopefully someone else will find this information useful.
    Cheers,
    Tracy

  • PowerPoint Opens Very Slowly

We have a PowerPoint built in Office 2013.  If I open this PowerPoint (132 slides, 4 charts each) in Office 2013, it takes over 5 minutes to open all the slides.  If I open it using Office 2007, it takes 5 seconds.  I tried opening the
PPT on several different machines with Office 2013 - same results – 5 minutes.  I copied the PPT to my home machine, with Office 2010 and it opened in 5 seconds.  These charts are not linked to any Excel files.
The 5 minute delay is that it slowly opens each slide and you can see the slides on the left side slowly appearing.
It’s the Excel for each chart – I opened the Windows Task Manager and Excel is using 20-29% CPU while the PPT is opening and as soon as the PPT is open all the way, Excel CPU dropped to zero.  You can tell it’s for each chart, as the CPU goes
up and down, down to 20%, up to 26%.  I tried opening on the creation machine with 2013 and another machine with 2013 – same results - high CPU usage by Excel.
I tried this under both Windows 7 and Windows 8 - same results.
I tried the advice of one of your technical support people and it did not work:
Click on File > Options > Advanced and under the
Display group of options make sure to check the options Disable hardware graphics acceleration and
Disable Slide Show hardware graphics acceleration.

    Hi RonS-KK,
We can try these methods to check if it works.
    1. Open PowerPoint 2013 in safe mode (Press win +r, type PowerPoint.exe /safe). It can disable some add-ins which cause PowerPoint 2013 running slowly.
    2. Check your \TEMP folder for excess files and delete them.
    3. Perform your Operating system in clean boot mode, it can remove conflict with some other applications.

  • Pages open very slowly.

Doesn't occur every time, but seems to be chronic when opening multiple tabs.

  • MAIL opens very slowly.

MAIL takes about 3 minutes to open.  And it takes several minutes to catch up when it's been idle for a while.  Once it's running it responds normally, but "checking in" to MAIL has become impractical.  I have 4.4 GB of stored mail, which will come close to filling my iCloud space when all free accounts soon get downgraded to 5 GB.  I'm willing to accept MAIL's sluggishness as a consequence of storage burden and am willing to pay more to solve the problem, but I've had lots of stored mail for a long time and only in recent months has MAIL slowed down seriously.  Any suggestions?

Quit Mail if it's running. Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    sqlite3 L*/C*/*.mail/*/L*/*/*/*.db vacuum
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
You should see a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) appear below what you entered. If not, press return. You can then quit Terminal and relaunch Mail. Test.
Note: This procedure will have no effect unless you quit Mail when you begin.

  • Pages open quickly in current tab but new tabs open very slowly

The new tabs open at about the same speed as opening another copy of Firefox. This has been happening since my Norton Security crashed and disappeared. I am working with Norton to reinstall but it will not install the new download.

Right-click on the bookmark button. Depending on any add-ins you have, the context menu may offer you a range of options e.g. Open (in existing tab), Open in New Tab, Open in New window, etc
Try the Tab Mix Plus add-in.
