Forte built-in tags and MySQL

Hello,
I'm developing a web application using Forte Community Edition 3.0 and MySQL.
I've been using the built-in jdbc and presentation tags of Forte, the same way as in the help and the CD Shop tutorial, but it seems to be not working with MySQL. There's no problem with making a connection and executing a query, but afterwards I can't iterate through the resultset. The <prefix:iterator> tag only gives me the last row, that one infinite times, however.
Anyone experienced this problem and has an idea how to get around?
Is there a way to get a reference to the Result object which is mentioned in the <query> and the <iterator> tag attributes?

You're not alone. I spent several hours thinking I did something wrong, but I think there must be some incompatability with the ie & db tags supplied with Forte and the MySQL 2.0.4 driver.
I've been searching the forums and the only suggestion that I've found is to not use the ie & db tags supplied with Forte and to replace them similar tags from Apache. Unfortunately, it isn't a tag for tag replacement. You're going to have to reference new tags with a different API.
I downloaded dbtags.jar from http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-taglibs/nightly/projects/dbtags/
In looking at the documentation, it looks like they have tags that will do most of the things that the ie & db tags will do.
Good luck!
Scott

  • How do I add an already built Shopping Cart  (PHP and MYSQL) application to a page in a Muse site?

    How do I add an already built Shopping Cart  (PHP and MYSQL) (Cartweaver 4) application to a page in a Muse site? Do I have to export the Muse site as Html to dreamweaver and them use the extension to bring the shooping cart in or can I do it directly in Muse?
    Message was edited by: mgv2048

    We have experimented with doing this with some good success. We have been working on adding Cartweaver to a Facebook page by essentially adding a Cartweaver store to Facebook in an iframe.  The "store" would be pages with just your basic product display, cart, and checkout functionality, with none of the "window dressing" - just use CSS to match the color and general look of the design it's being added to.
    The one problem with this for Facebook is when it comes time to check out toy have to leave Facebook and go to your server where an SSL is in place.  Fortunately in this situation this would not be the case, you can have an SSL installed to the root of your site and you'll be okay.
    This is an interesting project.  Give this a try and let me know how it goes and if you run into any snags, please make a post on the Cartweaver forums: http://forums.cartweaver.com - I'm really confident that this can work, and not only work, but work well.
    Looking forward to hearing how this goes, and being of what help we can.

  • Dreamweaver CS5.5 Mobile Apps with PHP and MYSQL?

    Hello,
    I don't have Dreamweaver CS5.5 yet and I've been trying to search for information on this but I couldn't find any. I've been learning PHP and been developing with MYSQL with Dreamweaver CS5 but I wanted to know if I can use the same tags and everything if I would to build a Mobile App using the new Dreamweaver CS5.5 (http://tv.adobe.com/watch/cs-55-web-premium-feature-tour-/dreamweaver-cs-55-jquery-mobile- pages/). I overlooked at the video and it seems pretty easy building an app. So is PHP and MYSQL easily integratable? Are there any examples that I might be able to check out?
    Thanks!

    No. PHP is a server-side scripting language that requires a server (or server-like environment) to run.
    An iPhone (or Android) application does not allow for a "built-in" server (which is resource intensive and has scary security implications). You just can't build an application with PHP/MySQL for a mobile device. Instead you can build a web service that your HTML/JavaScript mobile application can then communicate with. This is the only supported way you can use PHP/MySQL in a mobile app. Again: the PHP/MySQL should reside on a server and your HTML/JS mobile app can then communicate with that web service. That's what instapaper and other applications do.
    Frankly, just make a web application that's mobile device friendly and you'll:
    1) Avoid all the messiness of the app stores
    2) Have greater control over what your web app can do (don't have to tow the Apple/Google line)
    3) Have a web app that can work across mulitple mobile devices as well as standard web browsers (i.e. more audience = more $).
    4) Future proof your application (pushing updates to your server and everyone using your web app is updated)
    Otherwise, read-up on Adobe AIR and what it supports and remember, the best apps are written natively for the platform (i.e. want to write an app for an iPhone? Learn Objective-C and use xCode on a Mac. Want to write an app for Motorola Xoom? Learn the Android SDK and use inteliJ).

I have a project to generate XML files from database tables, i have used oracle's built XML functions XMLELEMENT, XMLATTRIBUTES, XMLFOREST, XMLAGG. I really want to know if these functions (or) similar functions are supported/availabe in MySQL.

    What's so hard about finding a "best linux distro for installing Oracle11g"? The supported distros are listed in the fine Installation Guide for Linux. At the top of the list is Oracle's own Oracle Linux, which is in the same family as Red Hat.
    so i am planning to switch to MySQL. Please help, Thanks in advance.

  • Solaris10 basic questions PHP and MYSQL

    Hi,
    I am trying to learn something of Solaris because it this OS is used at my job, well, we have one system T2000 sunfire, it has Solaris10, we are trying to setup as local server to share some html files, and also we are trying to install some mysql databases, well we already setup Apache2 and it is working fine:
    svcs -a | grep -i http
    online Mar_10 svc:/network/http:apache2
    Something that I don't know is if the server has already installed PHP and if it is running, I just found these files containing PHP:
    ./usr/local/php
    ./usr/local/php/doc/php
    ./usr/local/php/bin/php
    ./usr/local/php/include/php
    ./usr/local/php/lib/php
    ./usr/local/php/bin/php
    # cd bin

    I was wondering if some of you can tell me if php is installed and running, I think it is not running because I created an php file and it doesn't work.
    I also need to know if mysql is working or not, I think it is working, these are the process that I found of mysql:
    /usr/bin/ps -ef |grep mysql
    mysql 843 798 0 Feb 22 ? 40:59 /usr/local/mysql/libexec/mysqld basedir=/usr/local/mysql datadir=/export/ho
    root 798 1 0 Feb 22 ? 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe datadir=/export/home/database pid-
    Thanks.

    And I was thinking, before install another thing I want to be sure that php is not installed or running, I would like to ask some questions:
    How can I know if php is installed?
    How can I know if it is running? the way I have tried is placing a PHP file in the /var/apache2/htdocs and tried it from the browser, but it didn't work.
    If PHP is installed how can I enable it or start it? and how to make it permanent or start automatically when server boot up?
    What happen if i try to install the AMP, may I have to backup the files that we already have in /var/apache2/htdocs?
    Will the amp cause troubles or conflict to the apache, perl and mysql that are already installed and running?
    Another basic question and hope not to cause angry, is there inside Solaris any equivalent folder to "program files" like in win? it would be to have an idea of all the applications already installed in the system. or which is or are the folders in Solaris where I can see all the installed applications?
    the last question the term "the box" is the term for machine, station, server?
    Thanks.

  • PHP5 and MySQL 5 Compatibility

    I host my websites on a reseller account for a webhost that is about to upgrade their server technology to PHP5 and MySQL 5. Both PHP and MySQL is now at version 4."something." :-) My question is this, I have websites that were built using MX Kollection Pro 3.7.1 and ADDT 1.0. Has anyone came across any compatibility issues with using PHP5 and MySQL 5. At this point, I don't think I will have issues using PHP5 - but not sure. But the MySQL 5 is uncharted territory for me.
    I really don't want to have a website that will not function properly due to the upgrade. I hope someone has come across using those technologies, so let me know if you have had any problems. I exclusively use ADDT for my new websites. MX Kollection is for managing my older websites. I only use the PHP/MySQL combination for my websites.
    Also, to write my database tables, I use PhpMyAdmin to create the tables. It is easy for me to login to my hosting account and use that program to write my tables. I then used Kollection or ADDT to write the scripts as far joining tables and stuff like that.

    Thank you! I have sites hosted on two different accounts. Most on a multi account that allows me to host other domains and a "real" reseller account. Once the reseller account makes the change and everything still looks right, I will then cancel my multi account but not before migrating everything to the reseller account. I was scared that my websites would not work and was at a standstill on what I should do next. Thanks for the info!

  • Tora pkgbuild: oracle tool with postgresql and mysql support

    Tora is a tool for oracle databases with some support for postgresql and mysql.
    tora PKGBUILD
    pkgname=tora-alpha
    pkgver=1.3.14.1
    pkgrel=1
    pkgdesc="Qt toolkit originally for Oracle databases administration with some support for Postgresql and Mysql"
    url="http://www.globecom.net/tora/"
    depends=('qt')
    makedepends=('perl')
    conflicts=('tora')
    source=(http://dl.sourceforge.net/tora/${pkgname}-${pkgver}.tar.gz)
    md5sums=('5560b5104438e1b71bd89386d0fcdc00')
    build() {
    cd $startdir/src/tora-$pkgver
    ./configure --prefix=/usr
    --without-kde
    --without-oracle
    --without-rpath
    make || return 1
    make ROOT=$startdir/pkg install
    I'm posting this pkgbuild only for testing/research.
    Fist, it's alpha (aka devel) version but stable release does not want to easly compile on my machine and it's too old IMO.
    As you can see it can be built without the need for kde (good news for other WMs/DEs users).
    The funny thing is that I built it without support for... oracle :-) That's because it needs lots of oracle stuff installed and I don't have it. If someone has, he can build a static version of oracle support (if you do please post some info here if it works, etc.).
    The postgresql/mysql support depends on the qt package configuration. Current qt arch package does not inlcude postgresql/mysql plugin support. The next qt release will have mysql support at least (http://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?do=details&id=1040, http://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?do=details&id=1166) and I have made a feature reqest for postgresql http://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?do=details&id=1244.
    I'm still not 100% sure if postgresql and mysql should/shouldn't be put in makedepends (according to the docs and mailinglists it's not needed). I'll check that again when new qt release will be available.
    In other words in such configuration and present qt version this application is pretty useless :-) (though it can be run). But I'm posting this pkgbuild for the others (if someone needs to test it or tries to build it, etc.). I'm sure tora will soon be more attractive especially for someone using oracle databases.

    This won't work using a newer oracle instant client version though, since the pathes won't be set correct.
    The Project TOra won't use automake, since the author refuses doing so.
    Probably it would be a larger patching work to get it working with instantclient_10_2 (the current release version from Oracle).
    Why so?
    It seems as if the include pathes for the oracle client won't be set correclty, since TOra seems to expect a full oracle product installation.
    The configure does not accept a --with-oracle-includes or --with-oracle-libs option any longer (in 1.3.21 it did). Therefore, TOra won't find in example oci.h, since it's not in any include directory known.
    Also, some other files are not in the path TOra expects them to be.
    Without the possibility of passing by configure options handling this, i guess it won't be possible to get this TOra version running with the current instantclient.

  • Character encoding with CF and MySQL

    Okay, I thought this should be rather straight forward but
    apparently not. I have set up my site to use UTF-8— my cfm
    pages, the MySQL table, even Dreamweaver. The problem is when I
    input international character via a form they get written correctly
    to the MySQL table; however, when I retrieve them in a query and
    display them on the page I get them displayed incorrectly.
    On my input.cfm page I'll enter the string
    "Téstïñg" in the textbox and submit it. If I look at
    the record via the MySQL Browser it appears as it should. However
    when I display it on my output.cfm page it shows the record as
    "Tstg" and will do so until I change the
    meta tag to use charset=ISO-8859-1. Am I missing something or is
    this how it is suppose to work?
    My input.cfm page is set up with both the
    <cfprocessingdirective suppresswhitespace="YES"
    pageencoding="UTF-8">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
    charset=UTF-8">
    tags and a regular input formfield that writes to the MySQL
    database.
    The MySQL table is configured to use the utf8 char set and
    utf8_unicode_ci collation.
    And just to be safe I included
    useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=utf8&characterSetResults=utf8
    in the connection string on the CF Admin datasource setup page.
    I'm running CF 6.1, MySQL 4.1, the latest version of Apache
    Server on a Win2K3 box. I was running the 3.0.16 MySQL JDBC driver
    but I upgraded it to the 5.0.6 this morning thinking that may fix
    my issue.

    I'm still unsure why this works but I've found a solution. I
    switched all my pages over to character set ISO-8859-1 with the
    exception of my database table and it works. I get all the normal
    range character along with the extended Unicode characters to write
    to the database and output correctly. Unicode characters actually
    write to the table as their HTML coded character.
    If someone feels the need to enlighten me as to why this
    works please feel free, I'm always willing to learn.

  • PHP and MySQL Connection problem

    I am trying to make a PHP MySQL on a remote server connection in Dreamwesaver CS3.
    When I enter the information (host, user, password, etc.) and hit TEST, I get the following error message.
    "Access Denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem. Make sure you have proper authorization on the server and the server is properly configured."
    I know the user, password, etc. work, as I can access the MySQL database with other software.
    I checked with my host and they say there are no permission problems on their end.
    I have checked the settings on the Test Server page in Site Setup and everything looks correct and works there.
    I have not seen this particular problem described in other forum postings (although there are a LOT of postings on this topic!).
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I thought my testing server was the remote server and is always on as far as I know. I don't know how to turn it on or off.
    Is there some other testing server that I should be aware of?

    I know you are using remote, but is your testing server on? if not turn that on and see if that does it. it just happened to me working on remote server and could not get mysql conn to work, until I turn on my testing (developer server), then I was able to connect to mysql and the tables that I created in phpmyadmin remotly was downloaded.

    Hi !!
    I've a problem with BigInteger and MySql.
    I've a BigInteger object (suppose that value is
    0.02270412445068359375).
    I must store that value in a database (MySql).
    The value of BigInteger object must be stored in a
    column of type Decimal.if this is the case I fear you are SOL. a decimal is the same size as a double but with a fixed max number of decimal places. if it isn't big enough then you have no real choice other than to VARCHAR it.
    Stored value is 0.022704124450683594. Why ??
    My target is to store 0.02270412445068359375
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks.

  • MacBook Pro Retina 13' late 2013: built-in keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive after HDMI unplug

    At my desk I usually plug 2 external monitor (one via HDMI, one via Display port) and an external APPLE USB keyboard and BT touchpad.
    Most of the time I unplug the HDMI cable the built-in keyboard and touchpad stop working.
    This is very annoying issue because I have to force a shutdown to fix that.
    Only sometimes it got fixed by plugging back the HDMI cable.
    I already patched with MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.3 and Issue persists.
    Is there anyone else with the same issue?
    Any idea on how to fix it?

    Have you done an SMC reset lately? Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    May or may not work.

  • Changing ID3 tags and replacing tra

    I'm playing with my new Xtra and enjoying it. I will want to jigger many of the tags to organize the genres and artists better.
    ) The software stored the albums (as I requested) under Artist/Album. If I shift an album under a different artist name, I assume it will not automatically change the tags for the artist. (For instance, I have a few "Elvis Costello" and a few "Elvis Costello and the Imposters"... I want them all under the same artist name).
    2) Can I change the basic tags (Artist, Album, Genre and even Track #) using Create MediaSource Organizer, or should I download a decent/free ID3 tag program recommended on various guru FAQs?
    3) Here's my real question: Once I alter the tag on a track I've already loaded onto the player, I will want to replace it with the updated tags. If I re-transfer, will it overlay the tracks with the updated ones -- or will it create duplicates? Do I need to delete the album or tracks from my player before sending them back over?
    Thanks
    Michael

    Well you can only edit tags using the PC. I meant with respect to which data source you use, the player itself (when connected to the PC) or the files on the PC's hard dri've.
    The "move" would be just taking a subfolder ("album") and moving under a different "artist" folder -- in Explorer. I figured also that I'd still have to change the tags (the ripping program reads the tags and creates the directories, but I assumed the intelligence doesn't go another way).
    Ah right. Yes, you have to change the tags themselves. It doesn't automatically realise the folder has changed, although you can get many programs which will use folder and filename data to generate the tag.
    So I should grab a tagging program, and plan to "Delete From Player" and "Re-Transfer From PC." Not as bad as it sounds, as I can delete whole albums at once from the Player.
    It's certainly the method I use. It really depends on what approach suits you.
    I saw the list of tag programs on your FAQ -- are the "free" ones good enough? Is there a real advantage in the shareware or paid programs (other than the one you cite on Nomadsync).
    I've never bought a tag editing program, and have used 2 or 3. I prefer overall though, but some don't like the UI. Best to check some out.
    Nomadsync is listed in the programs to copy files. Remember that Nomadsync is not a tag editor, it's a program for copying files.
