Forte Developer 6.2 license free?

I'm confused by this page:

Does this mean Forte Developer 6.2 is free? We're trying to duplicate an older computer for compatibility reasons, so we need to use 6.2.
The wording, "+As a reminder, these products are no longer supported by Sun Microsystems, with the exception of Forte Developer 6 update 2 software+" makes it sound like the free license files apply to 6.2 as well. However, I get the following error when I try to use 6.2:
License Error : Licensing product (Sun WorkShop Compiler FORTRAN 77 SPARC).
License File: /export/opt/SUNWspro/bin/../WS6U2/bin/../../license_dir/sunpro.lic,demo

I am looking for a new license for Forte 6.0 and Forte 6.2 - but have not had much luck working with the Oracle/Sun team. Noone seems to want to upgrade to Studio 12 for this code because it is so old, but sometimes needs to be recompiled. I believe that the engineers are using the C or C++ compilers. I noticed that earlier versions have a free license, but not either of these two. If these are no longer supported, will these licenses become free soon? I have the licenses on a Solaris 2.5.6 system and I would like the licenses to run on a Solaris 8 server, so that I can retire the Solaris 2.5.6 system. Is there any chance that I can get a new license? Any chance that these licenses will become free and not dependent on the system? Any recommendations?

Problem installing Forte Developer 6 for C

I am experiencing some installing our new Forte Developer 6 for C on a SunOS 5.6. When I type ./installer I get this prompt:
Installing Solaris Product Registry's /usr/lib/libwsreg.so library
[SUNWwsr2 package] which is required by the installer.
Okay to install /usr/lib/libwsreg.so [SUNWwsr2]? <y|n>:
After pressing "y" nothing happens. According the the instructions an Install Forte Developer 6 menu should come up but it never does.
We have tried to install the SUNWwsr2 package manually but that wasn't successful either.
The problem might be our OS configuration, which we have customized a bit. (I notice that system requirements for Sun Workshop 6 is either a Developer or Full Cluster Distribution OS configuration.)
I would appreciate any suggestions anyone might have.

Dbx for Forte Developer 6 on SunOS 5.10 suddenly stopped working

I know this is the forum for Sun Studio but it was the closest I could find to answer the question. If there is one for Forte Developer, please point me to that.
The problem I have is that last week dbx suddenly stopped working for me. I would try to lauch it and it would just hang and be unable to be killed with kill -9.
I've asked my sys admins to look into the issue but haven't gotten a response yet so I thought I'd try here.
I have some truss output but I can't post it here because of length issues. If somebody wants it, I can send it to them.

Forte Developer 6 is part of the Sun Studio family, so you have found the right forum. :-)
FD6 is End Of Service Life, and no support has been available for it since 2006.
In addition, it is not supported for use on Solaris 10. If it was working previously, it was only by accident.
You should get Sun Studio 12, the current release, or wait a few weeks and get Sun Studio 12 udpate 1. It is free for all uses, does not use a runtime license (only a license agreement), supports modern hardware and operating systems, compiles faster, produces code that runs faster, has much better support for C++ (and supports C99), has a greatly improved debugger and has other new development tools.

Question about f77 Forte Developer 6

Hi. I have a fortran program that runs on Irix 6.4
I need to compile & run it on a solaris 8 system.
Does anybody know which option is the equivalent to the -static option in Irix 6.4 ?
or which option in forte developer 6 is able to statically allocate a local variable & initialize them to zero.

Cause all local variables to be statically allocated. Statically allocated local variables are initialized to zero and exist for the life of the program. This option is usually needed for programs ported from older systems (e.g. VMS) where all variables are statically allocated.

All local variables are allocated on the stack whenever possible. And they are implicitly initialized to zero unless declared with an initial value.
Just be sure you've allocated a big enough stack.
Default stacksize is 8 Mb for the main stack and
4Mb for each thread stack (8Mb on SPARC V9 platforms).
The User Guide shows how to set main and thread
stack sizes.

No - you can't access through an external query tool. You'll have to use the editor in Apex - there is one in the SQL Workshop section (at least that's what it used to be called).

Error 1 during Forte Developer 6 Evaluation

I'm trying the Forte Developer 6 following the Evaluation Guide included into the package.
My platform is Solaris 8 on Intel.
When I try to build the example (Cdlib) in the Workshop Building window appears :
error 1 : language optional software package not installed
which package do I need to install ?
on which cd-rom can I find it ?

I've solved the problem and hope to be useful for someone else.
In the directory /usr/ccs/bin there are some files that are linked to non existing directories.
The files are ; ucbcc, lint, whatdir
You have to link them to the corresponding files contained in the directory ..../SUNWspro/WS6/bin

Developer and enterprise license for the same company?

Can a company have a developer license and an entreprise license or is it either/or? I am making this query as we would like to distribute our apps within our company's app store as well as from google play and app store. Thank you for your feedback

You can have both. You would need a separate Apple ID for each one.

Signal Express not activated with Labview Full Development System Volume License

I'm using a volume license manager to generate license for disconnected machines. I just upgraded to Labview 2009. The license files work for labview but are not working for signal express. I have the Labview full development system which included signal express in the past. Both labview and signal express work fine on my computer that also has the volume licensing manager software installed. This computer is connected to the license server. I need to get signal express activated on my disconnected machines.

LabVIEW Full Development licenses still include Signal Express. Are you saying that whenever you are connected to the server you can run Signal Express just fine, but whenever you create a disconnected license Signal Express is not able to launch? Can you verify that you are, in fact, checking a license out from the server whenever you are connected to the network?
If you still have trouble I would recommend calling NI support so we could get more informatioin (such as your license file, contract ID, etc).

I have 8 years VC++ (MFC), 3 years FORTE 3N1 (this as Sole developer for HBoS UK, and sole consultant for .NET upgrade), (1 year version 5.1) 6 Months .NET 1.1. I'm looking for a way out of the very large company I am in. I would like to join a company that is open to new ideas, maybe even within the Forte environment. I am also currently undergoing a house move, can you tell me if relocation is included when considering your company?
I would need to convince a reluctant spouce of the move though! It's a long way away! I have driven and been the main contributor to the development of integration projects between external systems and Forte. I like the chalenge of making 'old' systems work with new systems. Saying that though, .NET looks remarkably like Forte! What's new!

ColdFusion MX7 Developer version - A License Exception has been thrown

I'm currently evaluating ColdFusion MX7 (it has become
Developer) for our future web application plaform. I have CF on my
testing server (win2003) and Dreamweaver on my workstation. This
morning I got 'A License Exception has been thrown' and checked my
ip of my workstation. It is different from the one the error page
stated. I guess DHCP server gave me a new ip address, which rarely
happens. I refleshed the site information in DW but CF thought I'm
out of range. What should I do to solve the problem? Here is the
real error message.
"You tried to access the developer edition from a disallowed
IP (xxx.xxx.xxx.xx8). The developer edition can only be accessed
from 127.0.0.1 and two additional IP addresses. The additional IP
addresses are: xxx.xxx.xxx.xx2,xxx.xxx.xxx.xx0 "

Maps Walk and Drive - 21 Day License free?

Hi there,
I was just giving Nokia Maps a whirl for the first time and stumbled across Walk and Drive and I added a 21 day license by mistake.
It's due to expire on 25th Feb , is this some sort of free trial? Or would it have charged my mobile account?
Also, does it renew itself automatically? I don't want this to happen as im not sure when ill be using it.
Any help much appreciated.

Haven't heard of this free trial and you can buy a 21day license either. Shortest duration is 1 month. A 1 month license for a single region is usually around €8.99.

Wrong file, unless you have an itanium processor and the 64-bit version of windows 2000. You need to download the 32 bit version.

Windows 10 licensing free, or subscription?

The only versions that do not qualify for the free upgrade is the Enterprise version. With this you are assumed to have SA with the license. For the Pro version attached to a domain you have to wait until it is released or go manually thru each computer as a local admin not connected to the domain. The license is good for life and is just like purchasing it. Starting later this fall you will see systems come with win 7 installed and win 10 on the recovery partition or recovery disks.

I kept seeing things about windows 10 would be free to consumers, but then they say that is only the first year and it is an ongoing subscription type setup like Office 365, some AV products.
Right now I'm running win 7 X64 on an optiplex 380 6GB ram, 128GB SSD. I'm considering upgrading to win 10 sometime before fall. I don't think hardware would be big deal, but i'm not sure if I'll only end up with like a free year if I'm better off sticking to 7 and in another year or 2. Then just getting a new system with better specs and just buy win 10 then (plan is to go custom PC or a slightly used mid range server.)
