Forte on IBM host

Hi,
we have just installed Forte on an IBM mainframe, and we have some problems
with starting partitions and accessing DB2. Is there anybody with experience
in this area?
Please contact me,
thanks

  • RFC - PL/I function on IBM Host OS/390

    I want to implement the following scenario: call from R/3 via RFC a PL/I function on the IBM host which reads the DB2 on IBM host in order to exchange data. I know OSS note 119496 but can't locate the file OS390RFC.TXT mentioned there. Can anybody send me examples how it is done on the IBM host.
    Thanks, Karl

    Hello,
    unfortunately there is no plugin for DB2 on OS/390 or z/OS.
    Migrations of DB2 needed to be done with the old Oracle Migration Workbench. But that excluded the OS/390 or z/OS platform:
    From the following note in My Oracle Support: Migration from DB2 to Oracle (Doc ID 200288.1):
    At the moment there is not a plug-in for DB2 on OS390/zOS.
    Starting with SQL Developer 2.1, DB2 databases can be migrated using the SQL Developer Migration Workbench. But the "New Feature List 2.1" at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/NewFeatureList21.htm is telling us:
    +9. Migrations and Third Party Database Support      Third Party Browsing      DB2 UDB+
    Consult the following My Oracle Support note for further alternatives: Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases (Doc ID 233876.1)
    One chapter in the mentioned note says:
    If OMWB cannot be used for the migration then other options include a manual
    migration. This could be done using a transparent gateway or generic connectivity
    to copy tables, or by loading data into flat files and loading into the Oracle
    database using SQL*Loader.
    Oracle Consulting can help you to do this.
    Best regards
    Wolfgang

  • IBM Host On Demand 4.0 Java Applet.

    Hello,
    I am having trouble getting Microsoft Windows XP Home (SP2) users to view/load a IBM Host On Demand for use.
    They have installed:
    Microsoft Windows XP Home (SP2) with every update installed.
    Sun Java Runtime Environment (Version 2 from www.java.com)
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 (SP2)
    Yet when the go to the url for the applet it will not load, you just get the red X in the corner of the applet after a lengthy loading period.
    On my system, I have Microsoft Windows XP Professional (SP2) and no Sun software and it works fine!
    Help!
    Thanks in advance!

    I have looked up the errors on Oracle forums and could not get any valuable help anywhere.
    Can someone kindly help out where I am going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hello kgronau,
    Thank You very much for your recommendations.  I removed the parameter HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 255.
    I added HS_FDS_FETCH_ROWS=1 and also HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
    Tested my sql statement, which yielded the result as follows:
    SQL> select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
    select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    ㈵″㠵6
    SO I thought I would give a try of removing the line HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
    and again tested my sql statement and it worked like a charm!!!!
    I tested a count(*) and got the results back.
    SQL> select count(*) from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
      COUNT(*)
           600
    I really appreciate your valuable pointers and help.
    Thanks once again!!!
    Ram.

  • DLSw problem whith two connection to the host

    Hello every one,
    My name's Mostafa CHAKIR,I am a technical ingeneer in the CBI Networks Morocco.
    We have a dual connection to a IBM Host via two 7206 routers called CPA1 and CPA2 in the central site.
    In the remote site we have a 2610 routers connected with Public Frame-Relay, and anohter link with ISDN as backup.
    Two peers dlsw from the remote site are configured, the first with CPA2 and its backup with CPA1 ( as you will see in the configuration).
    when the link go down (FR), the peers stay in stat connected in both site until there is a SNA trafic, and the ddr is made from the remote site.
    The problem is when the two link go down, the Host always see that the remote site is connected, the router CPA2 don't breack the circuit, and when the ISDN link come UP first, it open a circuit with a CPA1 even if the CPA2 is active, the HOST don't accept the second circuit cause it says that there is another circuit opened in the CPA2 with the same IDNum IDBlock. I tried to resolve that with the "dlsw timer sna-cahe-timeout" command but it have no effect.
    i search some solution to this problem.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your response.
    If i remove the keepalive 0 from the configuration of the remote site's router, the ddr will be made immediately after the primary link goes down (FR), it will stay active all time, because the dlsw is the intersting trafic for the ddr :access-

  • HotSpot VM doesn't support connection to an IBM mainframe?

    Are there any known issues with HotSpot Client VM (1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode) or J2RE Standard Edition (1.4.2_06-b03) that would cause problems connecting to an IBM mainframe (OS 390)? If so, what are they?
    My program compiles with no errors on a Sun Solaris 10 using Java 1.4.2_06 (i know, old...) and I'm using the IBM Host Access APIs, but I just can't seem to connect to the mainframe.
    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    AcceuilApplet.jButton1_actionPerformed(AcceuilApplet.jaDoes this indicate that you are using an Applet?
    If so then if you are NOT trying to go back to the host you loaded the Applet from then you will need to sign the jar file containing the Applet.

  • Hyper-V 2012 High Availability using Windows Server 2012 File Server Storage

    Hi Guys,
    Need your expertise regarding hyper-v high availability. We setup 2 hyper-v 2012 host in our infra for our domain consolidation project. Unfortunately, we don't have hardware storage that is said to be a requirement that we can use to create a failover cluster
    for hyper-v host to implement HA. Here's the setup:
    Host1
    HP Proliant L380 G7
    Windows Server 2012 Std
    Hyper-V role, Failover Cluster Manager and File and Storage Services installed
    Host2
    Dell PowerEdge 2950
    Windows Server 2012 Std
    Hyper-V role, Failover Cluster Manager and File and Storage Services installed
    Storage
    Dell PowerEdge 6800
    Windows Server 2012 Std
    File and Storage Services installed
    I'm able to configure the new feature about Shared Nothing Live Migration - i'm able to move VM's back and fort between my hosts without storage. But this is planned and proactive approach. My concern is to have my hyper-v host to become highly available in
    the event of system failure. If my host1 dies, the VMs should go/move to host2 and vice versa. In setting this up, i believe i need to enable the failover clustering between my hyper-v hosts which i already did but upon validation, it says "No disks
    were found on which to perform cluster validation tests." Is it possible to cluster it using just a regular windows file server? I've read about SMB 3.0 and i've configured it as well i'm able to save VMs on my file server, but i don't think that my hyper-v
    hosts are already highly available.
    Any feedback and suggestions or recommendation is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Your shared storage is a single point of failure with this scenario so I would not consider the whole setup as a production configuration... Also setup is both slow (all I/O is travelling down the wire to storage server, running VMs from DAS is ages faster)
    and expensive (third server + extra Windows license). I would think twice about what you do and either deploy a built-in VM replication technologies (Hyper-V Replica) and apps built-in clustering features that does not require shared storage (SQL Server and
    Database Mirroring for example, BTW what workload do you run?) or use some third-party software creating fault tolerant shared storage from DAS or investing into physical shared storage hardware (HA one of course).
    Hi VR38DETT,
    Thanks for responding. The hosts will cater a domain controller (on each host), Web filtering software (Websense), Anti-Virus (McAfee ePO), WSUS and an Auditserver as of the moment. Is the Hyper-V Replica somewhat give "high availability" to VMs or Hyper-V
    hosts? Also, is the cluster required in order to implement it? Haven't tried that but worth a try.

  • Need help w/ JSP formating a page.

    Ok. I need to make the following code work. I think it needs help w/ formating is all. Below is the JSP page I would like it in as well as where I think the code should go. Not shure how to get it to display the output though.

    var i = document.HODApplet.startSession(sessionName);
    if (i == 0) {
    fullSessionName = sessionName + document.HODApplet.getSessionID();
    I need to run that part of code and display the output on a webpage. Any help would be awosme as I am lost w/ JSP more of a vb kind of guy. but learning quickly. Thanks for any help or advice.
    Thanks

    Great catch on the aplet and maybe that is where I am going wrong. So let me back up a little and maybe you can get me out of my bind.
    Basically what I want for a test app is: a little text box w/ a button. type in an number and click the button.
    the button will then send the info to a terminal emulator. (ibm host on demand)
    So that is what the 3 include statements where for. I got that from the API example.
    so what I really need the page to do is print the list of connections.
    so I need to get the latest session ID:
    var fullSessionName;
    Function startHODSession(sessionName) {
    var i = document.HODApplet.startSession(sessionName);
    if (i == 0) {
    fullSessionName = sessionName + document.HODApplet.getSessionID();
    Then run:
    public int sendKeys1 (String text)
    The string being what was put in the box.
    for right now i do not need error checking and i know the screen will be on the right spot to accpet the input.
    so if there is a better way to make it work using an applet....Im all for it.
    any ideas would be great.
    thanks

  • IP Redundancy on 7200's with CPA's

    I have 2 7206's with CPA cards Escon attached to an IBM host. I'm trying to get IP failover to work without using EMIF. If I fail one of the boxes, IP rolls over to the second box. When I power that box back up, IP stops working. If I then do a shutdown on the channel (on the box that was initially powered off), IP again works. On the host, they have 2 defaultnet statements, 1 pointing to each CPA port. Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.

    You should be able to use one IP stack on the mainframe, configured to connect simultaneouslly to the two CPA cards with the appropriate DEVICE and LINK statements, but use the VIPA address option so that the end users are not tied to a particular CPA interface.
    There is an example of this at the following URL
    http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/650/75.html
    This has the advantage of using both CPA cards concurrently.

    I know signing the applet a bit. But though it is signed , second exception is constantly thrown. so please write in detail the procedure to sign the applet. and how to download xalan.jar in html page etc.,
    I require how to download the jar files, and after the completion of downloading of the jar files only, the applet should get executed. or shall i use different jar file(like crimson.jar?). This is urgent requirement.Please help me.!
    the classes for the parsing are not at all downloaded and hence the problem.
    help me reg that.
    thank you in advance/.

    Hello Prasanna kumar k.
    First you should sign your jar files (xerces.jar crimson.jar and xalan.jar) and recreate a cab files
    xerces.cab crimson.cab xalan.cab. To do that you should download sdk for java from microsoft .
    create testkey named testkey.pvk
    1. makecert -sv testkey.pvk -n "CN=your name" test.cer
    convert to public key
    2. cert2spc test.cer test.spc :
    create cab file
    3. cabarc -p -c -r -s 6144 test.cab
    sign the cab file
    4. signcode -j java.dll -jp -low -spc -v testkey.pvk -n test.cab
    after that you should use thia files in html:
    <!doctype html public "//W3//DID HTML 3.2 Final//EN">
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

    7206-1 and 7206-2 manage the the connection to the IBM host with a CPA card eich other.
    7206-3 and 7206-4 manage the connection between the central site and the remotes sites via frame-relay network, they are border peer and DLSw load balancing coded. also manage the connection between a LAN of the central site and with bridge-group to reach an IBM HOST via 7206-1 and 7206-2.
    The following is the configurations:
    7206-3:
    dlsw local-peer peer-id 3.3.3.3 group 3 border keepalive 0 promiscuous
    dlsw load-balance round-robin
    dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp 1.1.1.1 timeout 90
    dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp 2.2.2.2 timeout 90
    dlsw cache-ignore-netbios-datagram
    dlsw bridge-group 1
    7206-4:
    dlsw local-peer peer-id 4.4.4.4 group 3 border keepalive 0 promiscuous
    dlsw load-balance round-robin
    dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp 1.1.1.1 timeout 90
    dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp 2.2.2.2 timeout 90
    dlsw cache-ignore-netbios-datagram
    dlsw bridge-group 1
    The probleme is:
    In the central site, i see a slowness in the connection, and it is random, sometime a connction is very fast, other time it is very slow, and it can take up to 1,5 minute to connect.
    After all that, i coded a dlsw redundancy in the 7206-3 and 7206-4 FastEthernets, the problem still exist in the LAN, and it cause a trouble in some remotes sites connected with frame-relay, that loose a connection to HOST.
    Thank You for your help.

    1. To make load balancing work you will have to add the following commands:
    dlsw timer explorer-wait-time ...
    source-bridge ring-group ...
    Ring-group number must be the same on 7206-3 & 7206-4 - it prevents unnecessary explorer flooding.
    2. If bridge-group 1 on 7206-3 & 7206-4 shares the same Ethernet domain you must use DLSw+ Ethernet Redundancy feature.
    3. Border peers in the same group must be in full-mesh and all members in the group must peers with all border peers in this group. On 7206-3 & 7206-4 you will have to add the following commands:
    (7206-3)# dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp 4.4.4.4 ...
    (7206-4)# dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp 3.3.3.3 ...

  • Trying to develop a JCA connector

    Hi
    I've a package that allow applications connect to an IBM host using sockets and 3270 telnet protocol.
    I want to isolate and standarize such layer using JCA to run it as a resource adapter in an application server.
    I'm new to jca and reading specification is drivin me a little bit confused. I' ve "googled" for sample code but the few I found are simple db resource adapters implementations so I wonder if some one could point me to a non db jca samples... or guides/books about this matter.
    I've found this sample code:
    http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/J2EE/connectorclient/resourceadapter.html
    but the article is similar to those I've read but I'm still confused.
    I know I need to wrap my EIS connector with my resource adapter but what I couldnt see clear is where should I do it.
    I supposed that it should be in the lower layer, the connection implementation, but all the sample codes I saw make and instance of this class but recommend to put the EIS code in the managedconnection class.
    I've a simple class called CICSSocket that make the connection with EIS and with two methods read and write to allow those operation the EIS throw sockets and a open method to open the socket.
    If make an instance of CICSSocket in the Connection class constructor, it will be a wrapper but I'll be returning a Connection instance, not a CICSSocket instance, so how the AS or the client will call CICSSockets methods ? How the AS could pass parameters to CICSSocket to make the connection ?
    What happen if I do the above in the ManagedConnection class as I saw in various samples ? How will it work to wrap my class ?
    So, I've a clear map of all but I really don't understand how all components interact and how to do it and couldnt found real samples about it.
    Could somebody please send me a simple sample code or explanation to make me see the light ?
    Thanks in advance

  • JRE 1.4.2 not detected on another user account

    We are using HOD V7 and I need to test something with java JRE 1.4.2_13.
    When I install the software (with an admin account) then loging with the user account, HOD tell me that he didn't detect any java version.
    When I try the same thing on the admin account everything is ok and working great.
    When I try with another admin account I have the same problem as with the normal account.
    We are using windows XP SP2.
    Thnaks

    I am unsing the account "1" to install the software. The account "1" is a member of the local admin group.
    I try to open IBM Host-on Demand and everuthing is fine. Then I log a normal user which is not an administrator and when I open Host-on demand I have an error message saying that no Java software is found.
    I log back with the account "1" and everything is still fine. Then I log with the account "2" which is also part of the local admin group. When I start HOD I have the error message saying that no java software has been detected.
    I have seen this kind of problem with poorly done software that only install itself in the user profile but I don't think that this is the case with this one.
    My point is if I have to deploy the JRE on all ocmputer (1000), I don't want to install it on every account.

  • Re: OLE Field

    Gunjan,
    When you Forte OLE Field, the Forte GUI environment is known as a
    'Container Application'. Using the 'InsertObject' command, it can host
    different 'Insertable OLE 2.0 Objects'.
    When clicking on the Insert Object button, you will be presented with a
    list of OLE objects that have identified themselves as 'Insertable OLE 2.0
    object'.
    One problem with hosting these OLE objects is that you cannot keep state.
    For example, you run an Excel object and modified a spreadsheet -- when you
    exit the container, the state information goes away. Forte solves this by
    giving you a cache file, which is essentially a persistance image of the
    OLE object. You can later use the LoadCacheFile method to retrieve the data.
    By the way, using the ActiveXField, Forte can also host OLE Custom Controls
    (OCX).

    Nextver field was locked because it was from 2004 and some very new forum user resurrected it to ask a new question. They should have been polite and posted their inquiry freshly new. Then they would have availed themselves of actually getting assistance directed to them.
    Thus some moderator froze it to prevent the thread being hijacked away from the original poster. By the way, that O.P. hasn't posted anything to the forums since that 2004 date.

  • SDK Samples in HIS 2013

    After installing Host Integration Server 2013, I do not see any of the SDK Sample directories on the file system.
    Did I miss something in the install or are these samples not part of the install media anymore???
    Thanks,
    Gary Clanton

    HIS 2013 is available as a supplemental license to BizTalk 2013. This means that you have to license one of the BizTalk Server 2013 Editions to get a license for HIS 2013. You don't need to install and use BizTalk Server in order to use HIS. You only need
    to install BizTalk Server if you need to use one of the BizTalk Adapters that is included with HIS.
    You didn't indicate what type of applications that you will be communicating with on the IBM mainframe. If you will be communicating with CICS or IMS transactions on the mainframe, then you'd likely want to take a look at the Transaction Integrator (TI)
    feature in HIS 2013. You can use TI with a WCF service. See
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn150066(v=bts.80).aspx#application for an overview of the Application Integration feature of HIS 2013. You might also want to look through the following topic:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn149782(v=bts.80).aspx
    The HIS 2013 SDK does include sample applications. When the SDK is installed, it gets installed to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server 2013 SDK v1.0
    Under this folder, you will see the following folders:
    - ApplicationIntegration
    - BizTalkAdapters
    - DataIntegration
    - MessageIntegration
    - NetworkIntegration
    - SessionIntegration
    Under each of these folders are samples specific to those features. For example, under ApplicationIntegration there are two additional folders: HostInitiated and WindowsInitiated. The WindowsInitiated folder includes samples for Transaction Integrator where
    TI initiates transactions by calling application on the IBM host system. Under WindowsInitiated, you will find a WcfService folder that has a TI WCF sample application. You'd also want to look at the ApplicationIntegrationStarterGuide sample because it describes
    many of the new TI features in HIS 2013.
    If TI doesn't fit the needs, then you need to look at the other HIS features to see what might work for the IBM integration scenario that you are working on.
    You might also want to look at
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/biztalk/hh441721 as this site has many links to HIS specific resources.
    Thanks...
