seen Forte before (which probably also implies no distributed object
experience), send them to language training, and then put them in an
architect position on a distributed object system?
Please, tell me that I don't understnad something...

  • About the dev position opening

    i thought that the arch devs was a team always growing and growing, instead of a fixed size array of monkeys
    is (y)our development  board really that strict? are you advertising the opening or the need?

    IMO most TU would qualify as they already have experience in Arch packaging, repos and so on.
    As for repo reorganization, it would have the bad side that it would be more difficult to keep the different repos in sync if different teams are working on them. I mean, when you update glibc for example, you have to update all the packages depending on it accordingly. Also, the current organization with only two "real official" repos (core and extra) keeps our pacman.conf simple.
    Yet, I agree with you that there could be a repo reorganization, but I any I see it taking place more at the community (as in "community repo") level, with a lot of packages dropped from extra, especially things like desktop environments, so that only vital stuff that most people need on a desktop remains in extra (for example xorg). What I don't really have a clue about is where libs such as GTK would go with such a structure, but I'd rather see them in extra than in the repo where the Gnome stuff would be because I use a lot of GTK apps even if I don't have Gnome installed on my laptop.
    But anyway, Arch is growing and you can always use new devs in such cases, so thanks to all the candidates and good luck to the few chosen ones to be.

  • Fscommand, position opened window?

    Hey everyone.  So, I just learned about the fscommand and can't believe I didn't know about it before!  It is amazing and does almost exactly what I need it to do.
    However, I can't get the new window/exe file that opens to be centered.  Is there a way to do this so that when the .exe file is open, it is centered and on top?  I found one solution from years back here:
    http://board.flashkit.com/board/showthread.php?t=656462
    But wow.  That is so complex and I can't even get it to work right.
    So, I was hoping that if I showed you my code, you all might be able to help me with this.  I hope that some kind of code came out before AS3 was launched that can fix this.  Thank you all in advance, and here's my code!
    RelayBtn_btn.onRelease=function(){
    fscommand("exec", "BathingLineAD.exe");

    I've had over 20 views, but still no help or answer?  I know the code isn't bad b/c it's simple and I've tested it.  It works.  I just need to know if there's a way I can get the file that opens (BathingLineAD.exe) to be centered on the desktop, on top of the main file that's open.  Help would be very greatly appreciated.

  • Studio CE IDE saving Window positions

    For some reason my installation of Sun ONE Studio (on Windows 2000) has stopped saving window positions on exiting.
    Every time I start the IDE it is completely empty (no windows open). Before it would save the window positions, open files, etc, so that every time I started it things would be the same as when I exited the application. It's understandably driving me nuts.
    Does anyone know how to restore this functionality or if I'm failing to check certain options or preferences....
    Thanks,
    -T

    I managed to 'reset' things by creating and specifying a new user-dir as per:
    http://forte.sun.com/ffj/tips/tip02-09-27.html
    A few settings had to be migrated over, but all is well again....for now.

  • Where's the "Open Panel Vi"?

    Hi,
    I am looking for the Open Panel Vi', which I found described in
    Help->Online Reference.
    I know that it existed in Labview 4.1, but after upgrading to 5.0 I
    can't find it anymore. So, can anybody tell me where it is located.
    Is there anybody who did window handling' under LabView, like moving,
    resizing, positioning, opening, closing, ... them? If so, I am
    interested if you are using only all the vis which come with labview or
    do you use a special (smart) vi library, which could be found at
    (->please send me that address).

    >
    The VI still exists, though it is there for compatibility, so that
    older applications will still work. The new and improved way to
    get at that functionality and lots more is the VI Server. You
    will need to go to the Application
    palette, the one with the LV
    icon on top of a hand. Inside there you will find icons for getting
    access to a VI's reference, wire that to a property node and select
    Panel Window.Open. Wire True to open the window and False to close it.
    As I said, there are lots of other properties, probably 20X what there
    used to be; so things are now packaged differently. You will probably
    also want to read a bit of the user manual and perhaps look at some of
    the examples that deal with the server.

    To me, and from what I've seen on most forums, bumping means to put a short reply against a particular thread so that it temporarily goes to the top of the active threads.
    To tell people to 'forget the whole thing' you could just let the thread go or reply with 'Nevermind'. However, replying to the thread at all raises it to the top again so people are more likely to read it than ignore it, which goes counter to what you're trying to acheive.

    I figured it out!
    I read a solution for something that sounded similar.
    Anyone in similar position:
    Open iTunes app on iPhone, and pick an option from bottom, such as music. Then scroll down to bottom of page and where your iTunes ID is, press on it, and pick sign out.
    Then return to home screen, and double press home button and press and hold on first icon showing, until a minus symbol appears in the top left of icons present. Press on each minus symbol on each app in turn, until all app icons have disappeared. Then Restart the phone by pressing and hold the home button and the on/off/standby button at top of phone, until the apple symbol appears in centre of blank screen.
    Swipe to turn phone fully on and open settings and scroll down to iTunes and apps option and tap that. Pick sign in and put in your apple ID, it will accept it and then return to home screen and open iTunes a you'll find it works fine
    Simple really, but some like me won't think f this themselves!
    Hope that helps
