What would cause some pages in the same folio to pinch and zoom fluidly, while other pages appear a bit sticky? Could it be a button on the wrong layer that's not allowing the pinch and zoom to work?
I do have a "go to state" button that enlarges graphic to full page on the page. Could this be cancelling the pinch and zoom functionality? Would a box with text wrap ON affect the ability to pich and zoom? What else may be causing this?

  • Forum Moderator request (Sticky Clean-up and FAQ refresh)

Considering the amount of Dolby/DTS Decoding and Encoding questions on this forum,?the questions related to the X-Fi Extreme Audio limitations, and the sheer number of stickies I think it would be helpful to clean up this forum. I would suggest:
. Global Multi-Channel Setup Guide (Includes Dolby Digital/DTS Connect config)
    2. Global Dolby Digital/DTS Guide (Includes Encoding setup/purpose/limits, Decoding (including models supported)
?? -On a side note, I think it would be very beneficial to disclose exactly why decoding was eliminated, as well as some high-
?? level information on the Dolby/Creative licensing relationship. Most end users expect things to 'just work', and don't
??understand the complexity of those kinds of relationshi

  • FCP forum - a bit of a rant

    - pass by if you don't hang out here or want to support helpful people. (no humor - only grumpyness...)
One of the great problems with the LAST forum set-up was that if you spent your time helping "new to the forum" users, you often received little if any recognition in the points system. No great insight is required to tell someone to turn on their camera before launching FCP in order to capture, but since each person discovers the forum (and it is only REAL when THEY arrive) this class of response needs to be repeated over and over. As these new users were often totally ignorant of the points system and, since they often only showed up for their one issue then disappeared, they had no incentive to say thank you to those who took the time to help. In their minds, this is all part of the great APPLE machine - why say thank you? However, people who hung around WERE appreciative of things like: humor, community, grumpyness, brilliance etc and recognized the work that was being done.
Now, in the new forum, we have a situation where the ONLY points available are from people - often the new users who are unaware of the format of the forum - who have absolutely no incentive to give feedback. Since these users are either unaware or do not care about the protocols of the forum, no votes for helpfulness/competence are given and the only way a reputation will be built is simply by post count. This seems very wrong to me.
Additionally, I'm noticing fewer of the usual group around here. Perhaps it is me but I am concerned. No one is paid to be here and the only recognition was the points system. Now that seems to be gone or at least seriously compromised ...
So, to new users, if someone has helped you, give them the points. If someone has answered the question, not only mark it answered, give the poster the points. Support the people who help you as they are trying to support you..
rant over. flamesuit on. All responses written on the back of $50 bills will immediately attended to!
    cheers.

powerbooks to the left/ jokers to the right/ stuck in the middle ...   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   been there, haven't done this.

I remember the "Helper" system, which relied on Apple granting the status to a community member. The forums seemed to have more direction back then, a tighter focus if you will.
Of course, even then there were irreverent ones, who shall remain nameless ... with seemingly no ambition to be classified a "Helper" as such, but posted for the communities sake. Many still active.
Not sure at all about the whole points thing which seems to have had a filter applied to it.
And speaking of filters - I had a grip drop his tousers the other day and wiggle his but at the camera. So capture everything b/c there was audio involved, applied Broadcast Safe - and he's still there .. wiggling. I mean that's gotta be a bug, right ?

  • Forum a Bit Slower but Better with Read Tracking Enabled

Yesterday morning I spend upwards of an hour catching up on the forums here that I visit, posting responses, etc. until I felt I had found everything I wanted to look at.  Today, by contrast, though (from where I sit) the response time is definitely a few seconds slower for each individual operation with Read Tracking enabled, I got through all the new posts in about 10 minutes.  And it was FAR more pleasant to do.
It's not intutively obvious that this one little feature could be so important, but rest assured that it is.  This is a penny foolish and pound wise change.  It's good to know those can still occasionally happen.
Thank you for re-enabling Read Tracking!
If you do have future problems with it, please try harder to fix the problems rather than disabling the feature.
    -Noel

For what it's worth, today it seems as snappy as ever to me.  Really good.
But it IS a Sunday after all.  I imagine the load is quite different than on a weekday when people are trying to get answers to questions while they do their jobs.

  • Mountain Lion a bit sticky

    Hi.
I have a mid-2010 macbook pro 15" and have  recently intalled Mountain Lion and I love the feature so far, but it seen s as though my Mac is struggling slightly.

  • Rollovers in Interactive PDF acting a bit sticky...?

    CS6.
I've created "previous" & "next" buttons to move between pages on click...and placed these on the master page.
They have rollover states which changes their appearance sightly & this works as intended....until after i click one of the buttons, and move pages. Then the button is "stuck" in the rollover state, even after I move the mouse away. Its not until I mouse back over the button and then off it again....that it returns to its normal state. This happens each time I click and move pages. Just to repeat...the rollover state behaves as expected if I dont click the buttons to move pages - mousing over works perfectly. any ideas what is going on here?
    thanks

    It works fine for me.
First, restart your computer. Then restore you InDesign preferences, recreate the effect, and try again.

  • Sticky for the Photoshop forum(s)

At least as far as the Windows side is concerned, it's annoying how many questions cannot be answered properly without asking first for information on PS version, OS version, System specs, and so on.
Can we have a "Sticky" at the top asking this or even just quoting the link How to get help.

Can we have a "Sticky" at the top asking this or even just quoting the link How to get help.
That is good enough to include as a link in the top grey bar with New, Your Stuff, History, Browse, and Search. Or someplace where it is accessible on every forum page. "Sticky Topics" are only available via a particular path, AFAICT. For instance, can you easily find the two for this forum - now that you are reading one of its "Discussions"?
They used to have a similar set of guidelines at http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/guidelines.html but they seem to have removed it. That link now redirects straight to forums.adobe.com. Too bad, too. It is archived all over google groups.
They do have a slimmer version in the little Support Options box on the right of the main Adobe Forums page Forum etiquette and best practices, but as mentioned, who is going to read it?

  • Note to moderators - mark sticky notes

I only occasionally come to this forum and each time i am a bit disoriented on the top of the forum trying to figure out which messages are sticky and which are new.
Can someone edit those message titles to all have *** or to have [sticky] on the front or back end of the message title.
I am not sure if all of the current stickies are relevant, but that is for someone other than me to decide.
    Thanks for your consideration,
    Rob.

    Rob,
First 3 items are Folders (i.e. sub forums) - they're sticky by default and we cannot easily add markers to them, even if it made sense to do so, which it doesn't.
Fourth item down "Performance & Auto-write XMP" is already sticky and locked. You'll see that it has **- before and after the thread title.
Fifth item down "Pixmantec RawShooter Premium FAQ" is like the fourth (i.e. it's sticky), and it has **- before and after the thread title".
Sixth item down "Lightroom 1.4, Important Note from Adobe, March 16, 2007" is a note from the Product Manager. It's also sticky, but on a short life span (i.e. it will cut loose and drift down by itself in the near future).
    >I am not sure if all of the current stickies are relevant, but that is for someone other than me to decide.
It's me or one of the other Hosts who might happen by who decides what is sticky or isn't, what can be seen or made invisible, etc, etc, etc. Occasionally an old thread/post will be sticky
and visible when it shouldn't be, that's an oversight on my part. Since I can see everything it's not always easy to pick out the odd thread where this happens. Furthermore, some threads might be set up by another Host but they forget to set access for the rest of us. When that happens we need to get the Sysop to fix the problem.
Finally, threads you haven't read will have a red flag. Threads you have read will not. So, distinguishing between the two is fairly easy.

  • Purpose of this Forum (Server General) *** Please Read Before Posting ***

Welcome to Windows Server General Forum !
This is an English TechNet forum, Please post your queries in English !
    Scope:
The name "General" has a very broad significance and sometimes that might lead to some ambiguities.
The scope of this forum is to answer General "Server Administration" related queries pertaining
to Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 / R2 and 2012  operating systems.
Again, "Server Administration" has innumerous aspects and at times it becomes bit difficult to categorize
    them.
We try to answer your questions in General or provide troubleshooting support in depth as and when necessary
based on the context of the query.
Questions could be related to AD, GP, Server OS related Queries/issues/errors, general troubleshooting etc…
list is too huge and it's highly difficult to elaborate them here :-)
We understand that this scope and purpose can be a little confusing, we apologize for any confusion.
If you might not know the scope or purpose of this forum, we'll redirect you to read this thread if we need

It may happen that, your question might have been moved to this forum in an attempt by another moderator from
a different forum to help you find the correct forum or we might move your threads to an appropriate forum as and when necessary.
If a community member gave you the URL/link of a specific Technet forum, then you may request a move to that
specified forum (If a link to the forum category is specified; you'll still need to pick a specific forum from that category) or thread will be moved to the appropriate forum if a Moderator is around.
    NOTE:
We cannot move a thread to another Microsoft forum that's not in the TechNet Forum System such as ASP.net,
IIS.net and Answers.Microsoft.com etc… So we can only provide links to those forums.
    Marking Answers:
We propose a reply (such as a link about where to go ask your question) to a recent question as an answer,
and then we will usually wait one week (~7 days) before we mark it as the answer. We prefer you (the Asker/OP - Original Poster) to mark the answer, but we do not require it if you abandon the thread for a long time.
If you (the Asker/OP - Original Poster) refuse to let us propose and mark an answer (without telling us why

  • Sticky keyboard

    Hi everyone!
Do you know a way or a product to use after spilling a sticky drink on a Powerbook?
I did saved it and none of the liquid went inside the computer. I took each of the keys off and washed them. After I cleaned with a humid cloth the keyboard before re-inserting the buttons.
Now it gets a bit sticky and I was wondering if there is a better way to finish the job.
    Thank you

You mean after cleaning the keys, they are still sticky ? If so, I would simply give it another try cleaning them.
However I don't believe that you was fast enough to prevent the liquid wenting inside the computer; probably some of the liquid ran into the keyboard mechanic at least.
What you can try is removing the keyboard and clean it with a special anti-static foam used to wash circuit boards. Such cleaning sprays are available at specialized electronics markets.
Instructions on how to remove keyboards are available at http://www.ifixit.com

  • A bit of gossip from enemy lines. . .

I'm sure a few of you are aware of Digidesign's 3 day old release of their newest PT LE product line - the 003 systems, meant to replace the 002 systems.
First, before I get into things, a quick rundown. The 003 system is basically a 002 cosmetic facelift with a few minor improvements. The 003r now has 2 headphone jacks instead of 1, dedicated word clock, preamps with 6dB more headroom. . . aaaannnddddd. . . a new faceplate.
The 003 now has all of that, plus a jog wheel. Can we all shout "yay?" This has stirred up quite a bit of dissention in the Pro Tools camp. Dedicated PT users were expecting VAST improvements, such as an increase in preamps, an 9th fader for the 003, expansion slots, track count increases for the LE systems, etc. PT users are fairly ****** from what I can tell. I've been monitoring the forums a bit, and I've found over the last few days that all of the sudden, the dedicated PT base (now, before the PT users on here bash me with an iron kettle, I am a PT user myself. I like Pro Tools. I use it on a daily basis. I use Logic as well. I like Logic better (for most things at least) and I use LOGIC on a daily basis, so, I am not a Pro Tools hater by any means) the dedicated PT base is talking about how Digi has pretty much thrown up the white flag to Steve Jobs and the onslaught of Leopard, a possibly looming Logic 8, and Apple's partnership with Apogee.
Talk of Logic 8 and the possibility of its potential "PT Killer" status has gotten to the point where nearly every post concerning the 003 systems makes mention of Logic and how the partnership with Apogee is looking really good. Now, these are some VERY dedicated PT users who are VERY ****** with Digi. I am personally rather annoyed with them myself, as I would like a system that isn't as choked and limited as PT LE. I'd like to have a ProTools system that ran as efficiently as Logic without having to drop 20 grand (at the moment at least) on an HD system.
Here's the big part - Apple is known for doing things right (i.e. the iPod, iPhone, iMac, OSX, native integration with Windows. . . and. . . oh yeah, the personal computer in general). This is Apple's chance to fire the crippling blast across the bow of Avid's audio flagship. The have the chance to make Logic 8 a MUST HAVE upgrade to Logic 7, all the while totally using to the fullest their partnership with Apogee to take Apple audio systems to the level they are meant to be at. Dissention grow within the Avid camp. Apple took video away, now its time to take audio away. The hardcore users on this forum know of Logic's potential. . . let us all pray that Apple shares our sentiments.
Leave whatever thoughts may come to your mind. I just thought someone might find interest in the thoughts that have been bouncing around in mine.

Well.one of the many posts I got deleted BEFORE the 003, was that this was the time for APPLE to act and make LOGIC run PT sessions and even has a emulation mode that looks, works and feels like PT's, a skin if you will, while at the same time offering, ADC, and Surround, which it does already.
I am one of the posters over there as well, and will tell you my user name, but will give you a hint, I posted that now that Apple has the iPODS wrapped up, iPhones wrapped up, Intel transition over, (they can always use AMD as well, since AMD is supposed to have a duo core killer (KL9) and Apple has always been AMD's hypertransport partner, and Leapord about done, it is time to focus on both the PROsumer and PRO audio/video lines.
Take Avid/Digi out of the picture with one STRONG BLOW!
And Apple has the know-how on how to do this.
Logic is Logic, but why not make logic able to open PT sessions or better yet, a skin that looks and works like PT, basically LOGIC PT....that would be the final nail. I'm not sure legally how much they can do, but a skin is a skin, that's all and one could argue that the end user prefers the offerings of LOGIC but needs the PT skin (LOL).
I think this can be done!
    GO APPLE!

  • Change default communication port for BITS

We are currently using ConfigMgr2007 (native mode).  We currently have a global GPO wihich is throttling BITS to 56kpbs during current business hours (8am-5pm).  It has been suggest to use QoS to controll the amount of traffic used by SCCM distributions
to clients.  Seeing the BITS uses HTTP (80) and HTTPS (443) by default, is there a way to change the default ports used by BITS.
I did find the following article (About Configuration Manager Client Installation Properties)
that there are two setting which can change the default ports.
    CCMHTTPPORT=
    CCMHTTPSPORT=
Is there any other methods to change the Default port for BITS communication as a whole.

Thanks Kent and Jason.  I know I posted in the ConfigMgr forum and you pointed my to the proper documentation.  We have non-Microsoft email archiving product which utilizes BITS which is the reason for the general question regarding BITS.
I did not see a dedicated forum for BITS so I posted here.
The documentation as suggested by Kent will assist with making changes for ConfigMgr if necessary.

  • XP Pro 64-bit

Why is there no support for XP Pro 64-bit in iTunes? There are many users out here like myself that do not want to 'upgrade' to Vista, but want the 64-bit support. I have an iPhone on its way to me, and I want to be able to use it with my current system, without having to go through the 7+ hours of searching and modifying that I have done, to no avail. I can't even get my old Shuffle to sync with iTunes now. Not to mention that the CD burning function of iTunes hasn't been working for months.
I am frustrated, and very angry that Apple could be so lax in this. Do they expect us to spend a great deal of money on their products, only to not support them for a large number of us? How difficult would it really be for them to offer support for XP Pro 64-bit? The drivers aren't much different from Vista, from what I've been told.
I've tried fixes that I've found online (from other sources), but none of them have worked so far. I've updated my cd drivers from GEAR, and that didn't work. I've tried a 'fix' that was posted on PlanetAMD64 that was supposed to fix the sync problems, and that didn't work either.
All I'm looking for are some answers, and a working program for my $400+ phone.

Have you read through the large Vista64 bit Sticky post at the top of this section?

  • I lost my forums user ID

I am having an issue so I logged in with FF and it asked me for a new user or comnunity name and I chose this one instead of John Wolf (which I have been using since 05) and I lost all my posts. I still have the same login email address, but Apple has changed the forums a bit since 05. So when I cleared my cache in Safari (to fix other problems) I lost my login and know I am back to post #1. How can this be fixed?

    Hi jwolf6589,
Your other Apple Support Communities user "John Wolf" still has the points.  Are you not able to login with the Apple ID that user is linked to?  I will email you the details just in case.
