Forum search results have no titles?

I searched this forum and the search results have no titles, which means I can't click on them to see the posts.

I'm using Firefox on Windows 7, and sometimes search results have a clickable title/link to the post. But sometimes the results only have the author name, forum and date (not very helpful).
For example, searching for:  page imposition CS5
Results show only name, forum, and date.
But if I search for: page imposition
I get post titles that I can click on.

  • Signature corrupts forum search results

    Using the _iWeb '08_ forum's +Search Forum+ bar to look for the string "hit counter", the second page of results is corrupted — apparently by a signature in what is currently entry 21. The URL of the corrupted search result is here — scroll down to see the problem. In case you don't see the same that I do, click on this thumbnail:
    The code that seems to initiate the problem is this:
    <blockquote style="padding-left: 50px;"><b><i style="color: #FF6600; text-shadow: 3px 3px 2px #666">OT</i></b></blockquote>

  • Preloading of next webpages (in forums, search results...)

    Hello all
    I was wondering if it's possible to enable the "preloading" of next webpages when reading at forums or search results. I find this functionality which allows to just scroll down the page instead of clicking on the "next" button very convenient on the mac version of safari.
    Thanks

    @Ken: Good find! I didn't look into the code in detail.
    @potzki: No, your markup for sitemap seems fine. But like Ken said, the image is not available on the server. Also, do note that the sitemap is only an 'indicator' for Google and will help Google in understanding how your site is laid out - since it is you, the sitemaster, that creates the sitemap and pushes it to Google. But, it's not end of the road for Google. It will cache other areas of your site - unless you've explicitly told Google not to using robots.txt file.
    One more observation - your domain name is like way tooooooo long - forget google, for regular people to type into. Is there a specific reason you chose this one rather than a short, concise one?

  • ITunes "keeps playing" once all search results have been played

    I'm not sure if this is an error or how iTunes was intended to operate but I find it INCREDIBLY annoying.
    If I perform a search and, say, 5 songs are returned I expect iTunes to play those 5 songs and STOP. Yet it does not do this - it just keeps playing the next song in my library that would normally follow the last song played, even though that song does NOT match my search, and is NOT displayed on screen.
    This is ridiculous. iTunes continues playing songs that fall outside my search parameters - this is an awful logic hole.
    How can I fix this? I keep waiting for each new version to correct this problem but it keeps going on. At this point I have to believe this is just more horrible and backwards apple-logic.
    Message was edited by: Wazatron

    Update: I was just playing with this more, and it's worse than I'd described. I searched for an artist - we'll just say "Artist A". Two songs from two albums matched my search "Song 1" and "Song 2"
    So on screen, I see two albums, each album displays on song. If I hit Play, I expect iTunes to play these two songs, back to back. Sounds logical right?
    It doesn't. It plays "Song 1", and then instead of playing "Song 2" it plays whatever song comes after "Song 1" chronologically in my iTunes library. I'd essentially have to wait for iTunes to just play every song in between Song1 and Song2 for it to actually get to, and play, Song2.
    This is horrible!
    How can I fix this? Is this bug related to the Window version only?

  • OHJ search results displayed with title tag ???

    Hello,
    I've conversed a large help MS help system on a C/S forms application into an OHJ help system on behalf of the webforms version of this application.
    I've got the thing running allright, but one thing surprises me: the search function apparently returns the <TITLE> tags of the HTML help pages instead of the text descriptions <tocitem target="topic_18" text="Examenprogramma" /> as entered in the toc .xml file.
    I wonder why this is so. It supplies me with a lot of extra work - having to edit all these HTML files manually to include the description in the title tags.
    kind regards,

    Maike,
    The reason is that the search runs over any HTML files in your index file. These HTML files need not be in your TOC at all. Therefore, we reuse the title from the HTML file instead of any information in your TOC.

  • Spotlight mp3 search results - showing song title only

    Hi,
    Since upgrading to 10.9 spotlight only shows the tag of the songs instead of the filename. this is really annoying.
    Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks,

    Try erasing Spotlight's index and then reindex the drive. Open Applications/Utilities/Terminal and copy and paste this into Terminal.
    sudo mdutil -E /

  • No clickabel title shown when the search result containing .xlsx Office Excel 2010 file

    in sharepoint 2013 search, everything works fine. but there is no tiltle shown when the search result contains xlsx items. and no issue at all on both docx, pptx, and even xls extension, which is lower than office 2010, any ideas?

    Does the April 2015 CU fix that bug? I don't see it written in the CU's description. Regards
    We found out, that it does not fix the problem and so we digged into it a little deeper. First thing is that our
    documents from FileShares without set metadata are those without clickable titles in search results. So one solution might be to start setting metadata for all those documents correctly, but who would want to do that. We would expect the enginge
    to find something as title anyways, i.e. at least the documents name.
    For finding a valubale title out of the documents there is the "MetadataExtractorTitle" component as MappedProperty for the ManagedProperty "Title". Unfourtenatly this component seems to be a little bit bugy. It looks like that in some
    cases it does not correctly return that it couldn't find anything for the document to be used as title.
    Since this component is on pole position in the priority list of "Title" it leads to search results without clickable titles in such cases, where the extractor returns an empty result.
    So what we did is to move MetadataExtractorTitle to the end of the priority list, so the engine at first evaluates the documents properties the classic way. We had to do a IndexReset and a FullCrawl to completely
    apply this workaround. After this we did not get search results without clickable titles anymore.
    I hope this also helps in your cases.

  • Alphabetize Search Result Subsites on a Home Page in Office 365

    Location: TeamSite
    Issue: Alphabetizing search results listed on Home Page
    I understand how to alphabetize subsites on the quick launch and top link bars. I cannot, however, determine how to organize subsite search results alphabetically by title when listed on the Home Page. I've tried adjusting the query string and sorting settings
    of the Search Results with no luck. In fact, the sorting tab for building my search query lists the subsites in alphabetical order (though it only shows about half of the total number of subsites), while on the Home Page the subsites are not displayed alphabetically.
    I've attached a screenshot of the Home Page and the Sorting tab for your reference.

    Hi Aprice,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to alphabetize subsites from search results in Office 365 site. Is it right?
    In SharePoint 2013 Online, there is a managed property called SiteTitle. If you go to SharePoint Admin Center->search->Manage Search Schema, and find and edit the managed property, you will see Sortable:No, and you cannot edit the option.
    So, we think we can create a new managed property and enable it sortable. However, in SharePoint Online, when you create a new managed property, it will have some limitations. For example, the property can only be of type Text or Yes/No, and it can't
    be refinable or sortable. More information, you can refer to
    it.
    As a workaroud, you can map the crawled property (ows_SiteName) to an already created Managed Property in SPO (RefinableString00) as shown in the below image:
    Then go to your Office 365 site, and edit the search results web part to sort the results as the managed property(RefinableString00).
    In addition, as this issue is related to Office 365, I suggest you create a new thread on Office 365 forum. The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums
    regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Ability to jump to a particular set of Search Results same like google

    Hi,
    _Ability to jump to a specific set of Search Results_.
    Currently we are able to show 10 records on screen at a time in the Search Results table. If we want to see the next 10 Records then there is a dropdown and on it we need to select the "more" option. Then next ten records will be displayed.
    But now we dont need the "more" in the dropdown. We need to show 1-10 ,11-20, 21-30, 31-40....Or else we need to display the page numbers same like in Google or our forums search results page.
    Directly we need to select the required range and directly jump there.
    My current poplist is showing that 0-10, more. But i need +0-10,11-20,21-30,31-40,41-50, etc.,+
    But we have 300 results in the table and we do not have the option of showing 0-10,10-20,20-30,30-40..
    Simply it is showing 0-10, more. If we select more then it shows 10-20. we cannot jump to the required range (ex:30-40).
    Quick response appreciated.
    Regards,
    Venktesh

    I have a couple things I would add as well:
    "An option to link/ unlink ALL selected mask layers, instead of having to go down manually doing it on each masked layer." that wouldve saved me literally an hour at work today.
    My request is to have a "liquify all" option where you can essentially easily batch all selected masks or layers and apply a saved mesh without having to do it manually.
    As a person who professionally uses photoshop for 8 hrs a day every day this feature would save me an easy half hour on many files.  It also would cut down on the "mistakes" we make by missing  one random but essential mask.
    One more suggestion is to enable "warp" in transform to work with the "transform again" command as it is the only one of the forms of transformations that does not allow it.

  • Special letter in file name in search results

    I have follow this quid
    http://charliedigital.com/2011/12/16/force-file-name-in-sharepoint-2010-search-results/ to change XSL to display file name in search results instead of title. It works very well. I'm happy. But I find a small thing. the special character in file name (e.g.
    Ö, Ü ...) cannot be displayed correctly. But before changing those special letter can be displayed in title correctly. How can I do to solve this problem? I put following XSL:
    <xsl:otherwise>
        <a id="{concat($currentId,'_Title')}">
            <xsl:attribute
    name="href">
    <xsl:value-of  select="$url"/>
            </xsl:attribute>

            <xsl:if

    <xsl:call-template name="HitHighlighting">

    Hi
    I think
    that special characters are not related to
    the change in the XML file
    on your personalized results page.
    With the original XML
    special characters display correctly?
    You can use
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" indent="yes"/>
    <xsl:template match="/">
    <xmp><xsl:copy-of select="*"/></xmp>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    to see results with another encoding

  • Google search results acting are not showing up right after FF update

    So after I updated FF from 12 to 13 my Google search results have been weird whether I search from the homepage, tool bar or from Google.com. For example if I were to search " Avatar: The Last Airbender wiki" you would expect the Wikipedia page for the show to be the first result but this is what ends up showing up:
    [http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/8020/firefoxproblem2.jpg Image of search results]
    But if I were to search in Private Browsing mode this is what I get:
    [http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/9794/firefoxproblem.jpg Private browsing search]
    Same search yet it yields to different results and I tried it in IE and Chrome and the search is working just fine in both of those as well. The problem seems to only be when I search for something in FF normally.
    If anyone can shed some light into why this is happening I would be grateful, since I prefer FF to anything else.

  • [Desktop][Music] sort search results

    Please restore the ability to sort search results (by song title, artists, etc). I'm on the mac desktop app. Why did you ever remove this? I often search for covers, and want to isolate the song titles from others that show up by keyword.

  • I used to have AVG free antivirus software on my computer. I uninstalled it, but every time I open Firefox and do a search, it comes up with AVG Secure Search results. I have tried the about:config stuff from the forums, but it is to no avail.

    Had AVG free version. After Firefox updated to the newest version, AVG Secure Search results are the default. I have researched the issue for the past 3 days and have tried every option available on forums, etc. Nothing seems to work. This is very annoying and I'm about ready to switch to google chrome.

    I ended up finding a solution.....went to Firefox tab on top left of browser screen. Went to help, restart with add-ons disabled. This takes you to the Firefox Safe Mode text box. Select "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults. This seems to have worked, as there is no longer an AVG Secure Search directed screen. Also, I installed Avast. Have had it on my tower PC and another laptop for 2 years with no issue. Screw AVG!!!

  • Different Color Text of Topic Titles by Child Project in Search Results List

    Does anyone know how I can change the text color to indicate the source project of a topic as displayed in the Search Results list?
    I have followed Peter Grainge's directions for setting up a parent project that has several child projects, one of which contains outdated version-specific information. Thanks, Peter!
    I would like it to be obvious to the user before they open a topic from the Search Results list that it is from the old legacy project.
    I have found where the font is set, (thanks to the RoboWizard), but I am not a Javascript programmer and am uncertain how to code the "if document is from this project, then use this font" logic.
    I would also like to put a "caption" below the "Search Results per page" line to explain the purpose of the color change.
    I am using RoboHelp HTML 8.0.2. I generate WebHelp output which is then FTP'd to our server.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Leon,
         Let me make sure that I understand your suggestion - I should change the title of each topic in the "legacy" knowledge base so that they each include a short identifier, such as "First Topic - Legacy"? If so, I suppose that would work, but I'd have to change 1,000 topics. The topic titles would no longer match the filenames (I'm trying to freeze changes to the old knowledge base to which there are many links from our user forum), which I suppose is not a big concern at this point.  I'll run some tests.
         That has also raised another question in my mind, but I'll post that separately. It's about the way Robohelp selects the text that is shown immediately after the title of the topic in the Search Results list.
         Thanks for taking the time to help!

  • Search results displays title from the document and not from its metadata

    Hi All,
    I have an issue with SharePoint 2010 Search results. While searching for any content in SharePoint, it displays the title value from the keyword in the document and not from the metedata.
    Scenario:- I have a document library and a document named "Bill Details C1234.doc" in it. The title for this item in document library is "Bill Details". However on searching with keyword "Bill" it displays the
    first word in the word document which is "I".It should display the title set in the document i.e. "Bill Details".
    Please suggest

    I think you're looking to do the reverse of this:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/c2ec4fc2-e04c-453c-8035-4f334f062d05/have-search-results-display-the-filename-of-a-word-doc-instead-of-the-title-metadata?forum=sharepointsearchlegacy
    check this out as well, again I think you want to reverse part of this where it references filename
    http://chris.gg/2011/06/display-filename-instead-of-document-title-in-sharepoint-search/
    So, where it references Filename, you would put title, but leave where it references title alone.  Or maybe I misunderstood and you are looking for exactly this, to make search display the filename and not the title, in which case I trust that you'll
    find this to be your answer.
