Forums down Wed, April 9

For those of you who don't come to the PSE forum via the main page, Adobe is doing a major overhaul of the forums, so they will be down tomorrow:
Forum Maintenance, Upgrade, and Downtime
The Adobe Forums will be offline for a software upgrade as of Wednesday, April 9th at 1:00AM Pacific Time. During the upgrade, feel free to message our Customer Care Twitter handle, @AdobeCare, and we’ll try to address your query.

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".
Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • Forums downing again?

    Hi friends,
    Forums is in trouble again!
    As you all know, in the few last months of last year forums were down a lot... on any time of the day it seemed, but very often between 15.30-16.30 (local time).
    Oracle was supposed to fix this.
    But now it's back.. Mon, Tue and today this week and surely sometime a few hours past mid-day.
    And the message is:
    "The Discussion Forums are currently unavailable due to scheduled maintenance. The expected uptime is Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 7:00 PM PST. "
    Fix this error page at least!!!
    So... is somebody at Oracle working to get off the record downtime list or will you keep letting developers, supporters, customers or possible customers down?
    Thx and rgds,
    Fredrik

    > It's slow for me, too.
    Seems to be picking back up. Another load-balancing
    issue, perhaps?Pant-load is more like it, but yeah, it's back to normal.

  • "Safari for Mac" forum down?

    Can access the Safari forum, but no posts more recent than three days ago appear under "Topics."
    Clicking on the "Safari for Mac" link at the top of the page yields only this: "An error in the system has occurred. Please contact the system administrator if the problem persists."
    Anyone know what's up (or down)?

    How do you contact the system administrator? I've pondered that for a while almost to posing that specific question.

  • Turn everything upside down for April Fool's?

    Hi everyone.
    I work at a project with a continuous build system, so anything I check in will be built and seen by project leaders and such within an hour. I'm trying to think of a good April Fool's joke.
    I think the ripest ground might be the Swing rendering of the program. I don't imagine there's an easy way to turn everything upside down, is there? Maybe I could over ride the paint() method of the JFrame everything is in and flip the co-ordinate system? I'm thinking even if that were possible it probably won't trickle down to the other components...
    Any thoughts of some big, obvious, silly change, that wouldn't require too much time-wasting?
    Thanks!
    Sam

    Ok, I did it, and appear not to have lost my job. Thanks everyone!
    The only problem was that no one saw it... except the CEO! Yes, the CEO occasionally work with head versions of our code... He figured he was infected with the conficker worm... The programmer he was IMing with hadn't seen it (update your code!), so the CEO made a short movie: http://www.concord.org/~cdorsey/Upside-down-OTrunk.mov. At that point people started to work it out.
    As you can see, the panel didn't paint all the way -- that launch does some extra resizing that I hadn't considered and appears to mess things up a little. Oh well. sigh
    Thanks again! Below is the code I used:
    // We have a class that extends JFrame, but this could easily have been added to any generic JFrame
    public class MyMainFrame extends JFrame{
    public void init(){
           long currTime = System.currentTimeMillis();
             if (currTime > 1238598000000l && currTime < 1238610600000l){ // April fool's!
                 JPanel glassPane = new JPanel();
                  glassPane.setOpaque(false);
                  UpsidedownPanel upsideDown = new UpsidedownPanel(new BorderLayout());
                  upsideDown.add( getContentPane() );
                  setContentPane( upsideDown );
                  setGlassPane( glassPane );
                  glassPane.setVisible( true );
                  glassPane.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter(){
                       public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e)
                         MyMainFrame.this.getGlassPane().setVisible(false);
                         ((UpsidedownPanel)MyMainFrame.this.getContentPane()).upsidedown(false);
    class UpsidedownPanel extends JPanel{
             public UpsidedownPanel(LayoutManager manager){
                  super(manager);
             private boolean upsidedown = true;
             public void upsidedown(boolean upsidedown){
                  this.upsidedown = upsidedown;
                  repaint();
             public void paintChildren(Graphics g)
                  if (upsidedown){
                       int cWidth = getSize().width / 2;
                       int cHeight = getSize().height / 2;
                       Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D)g;
                       g2d.translate(cWidth, cHeight);
                       g2d.rotate( Math.toRadians( 180 ) );
                       g2d.translate(-cWidth, -cHeight);
                       super.paintChildren(g2d);

  • Adobe forums down for major upgrade this weekend

    The Adobe user-to-user forums will  be offline this weekend, starting at 6PM (Pacific time) tonight (Friday  night), 16September2011.
    During the downtime, the forum software will be upgraded. We expect to be back online on Sunday afternoon.
    There  will not be a lot of cosmetic or feature changes to the forums, but we  do expect to see better stability and performance. There are also a  number of bug fixes, including the rich text editor (random line  breaks). We will also be introducing new features in the near term  future (documents and polls). And we will have a number of new video  tutorials about using the forums.
    Thanks for your patience during the scheduled downtime, and we look forward to seeing you in the updated forums.

    Two observations.
    The pop-up flyout that appears when the cursor is hovered over
    a user's profile name would previously display only the threads
    that were initiated by that user, now all of the user's recent activity
    is displayed instead.
    Adding the reply that the original poster has designated as the
    'correct answer' to the original post is an interesting function,
    but it can be detrimental for a user who may not read the subsequent
    responses that provide more complete (and often better) information
    regarding the problem in question.
    A skimmer may only read the original post with the 'correct' response, and
    not gain the benefit of of the nuance and corrections that usually follow.
    Also, it is often the case that the OP does not recognize a response as
    incomplete or not entirely incorrect, and designates the post as 'correct'
    anyway.

  • Adobe forums down?

    Anyone know what went wrong at Adobe userform today? I am not
    able to go into after logging in and nothing happens. Any idea,
    Murray?

    Yes - Adobe was moving things around. They are back now.

  • Looks like the Forums are out today???

    I can't get any Forums to show today's post on any PC's or Phones.
    Are the Forums Down today???
    Chris Ward

    Nope, hopefully we'll get some kind of explanation about what happened but I'm not really holding my breath.
    I had emailed the forums team about this yesterday and haven't heard anything back from them.

  • A request regarding the Adobe Forums

    I was just wondering if anybody else finds that these forums
    make it hard to find previous posts that cover the same topic you
    are asking and that this generates a lot of duplication (and ok the
    search facility helps a little)? I was wondering if it would be
    possible to break the forum down into sub-categories such as
    databases, webservices etc. based on metadata? If you look at a
    site like ASP.NET the forums there are really good to find things
    by category (in fact IMO a site such as ASP.NET is exactly what
    Flex/AIR needs - I find flex.org a bit lacking). Am I alone in
    thinking this or do others agree?
    Edit: OK I feel a bit of an idiot now having just seen the
    'Adobe user forums update in progress' note that the forums are to
    be updated... I eagerly await this :-)

    We had a delay in implementing this change, but it is still our intention to shut this forum down in favor of the Java 3D forum on java.net. We hope to do this within the next two weeks or so.
    Please migrate to the java.net forum by following the above instructions before that time. Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Unable to complete System image + files backup_Win7 x64 french_Pav dm3-1130ca

    Happy Expert Day!
    A)
    *** My system is french, so I will give approximate translation for what is on screen. Is the french forum down? The links for the french forum don't work.
    Ex. :

    was what the Expert Day announcement pointed to
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Community-News/HP-Expert-Day-April-18-2012-Got-Questions-Ask-the-HP-Exp...
    Then please bear with me.

    I have never been able to make a backup (system image+files)  using windows 7.
    I tried it right from the purchase of my notebook (2-3 times), then at least 4 more times over more than a year.
    I tried 3 different usb external drives (all working), but the program was not able to complete the image. I feel that having a backup of my files and the system image would be a great way to undo any problem without doing a full install of Win7 and all the programs I use.
    I'm not sure if the error message was always the same. You have the last one I got here : Input-Output Error (I-O).
    I did try chkdsk/r on both drives without any change.
    OK so that was the result. Let me give you more details about what I did :
    (loose translation warning...)
    Using Control Panel > System and Security > Backup and Restore
    Then I click on Create a System Image.
    Then I chose the drives to be saved :
    This is what shows up in backup configuration
    Config 2
    There is no optical drive in my notebook. I did plug in a usb external dvd drive with a system disk, as asked at the yellow ! above.
    Thank for your help
    Happy Expert Day again

    Hello.  Sorry that I cannot help with your technical issue because I don't know what the french in the screen shots is saying.  However, I wanted to let you know that the French forums are not down.  Are you using this link? http://h30478.www3.hp.com/.  I was able to open the French forum at that link.  Thanks.
