Forums for Apple Certifications

Is it possible for a forum to be created for Apple Certifications?

Do you already have some form of Apple certification or are you looking at enrolling in one of the learning courses to achieve certification?
While there are some that are available to the public, many require that you are an employee at an Apple Store, premium or approved reseller or service provider. They provide learning resources and require the completion of a test or exam with multiple choice answers. Some tests can be completed at your own pace, others require that you complete the test inside a time limit.
Having a forum where folks can discuss the material that you are supposed to know so that the certification can be achieved kind of defeats the point in studying for it in the first place. Such a forum would be impossible to moderate unless contributions were vetted first - if someone were to leak answers for example, others could copy them and complete the test without having actually studied anything at all. Apple's trustworty reputation would suffer as a result.

  • I know this is the wrong forum but there isn't one for Apple Mail!

    Hello all,
Forgive the slight mis-placement but.. I'm looking to move my Mail from my desktop Mac Pro to my Macbook Pro! Can anybody advise the best method that will maintain the current email archive and listings, thus being no change whatsoever once moved to the Macbook?

Not sure what you are talking about? If the post, which I did not see, was posted in this forum (Mail and Address Book) then it was the correct forum. Your saying there was no forum for Apple Mail would probably have not helped get a reply.
The correct and simplest method to move is to transplant both the com.apple.mail.plist file from Home/Library/Preferences and the Mail folder from Home/Library from the one Mac to the other.

  • Forum for Certification/Newbies

Can I please suggest that the forum category related to certification and new starters in the Oracle world be made more prominent.
You know except one clicks the "more ...." link, they may never know that there is a link for starters and certification issues. And we should think that it may make starters think that they in provision for them in otn community.
If it is put in boldly, many wont hesistate to go in there instead of other forum where almost everything there look advanced.
I hope I passed this suggestion clearly.
    Thanks

    What's wrong with:
    Oracle Certification Program
What I mean is that from the Forum Home, Oracle Certification Program is not directly accessible and most newbies just go away. Most of them I have seen never click the http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=48 link (from which they can get direct access)
So, I am suggesting that the link be put on the forum home. I will be really welcoming.
Except, the observation is only from my location.
    Thanks

  • What forum is for Apple IDs?

Sorry for posting here, but there does not appear to be a forum regarding Apple accounts.
I need info on how to access the list of registered software on my Apple account. The web site lets you change your info and register products, but I can't find a listing of what I've registered and there is no forum discussion group for dealing with such issues.
    Any suggestions?
    THX

    "Any suggestions?"
There is no forum. Call Apple support.

  • Apple has forums for everything except IOS4 it seems...

    Even "boot camp"...
Right now it seems they have iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch forums, but none have sections for the single most important software in Apple's future. Crazy eh?
Where can we discuss IOS4 (and IOS5 etc)?
Where are the best places to learn about courses in programming IOS ?
Do you need an Intel Mac to do IOS programming?

If you have a technical support question, it's best posted under the forum for the device with which you're having that problem. If you are interested in developing sodtware, you probably want to register as a developer. That will get you access to the Developer Forums. Currently, the Developer Forums are the only place neta software such as iOS 5 cam ne discissed. If you just want to chat about the future of Apple, this isn't really the place as these forums are for technical support and speculation about Apple's policies or future plans is prohibited.
Yes, you need a Mac to develop for iOS.

  • So why no forum feedback section for Apple stores?

    Hmmm..
It's clear somebody can't take constructive criticism.

This section of the boards is here to gather feedback about the discussions themeselves, and nothing else. These discussions are not the way to submit feedback to Apple about any product, it's here for troubleshooting purposes. There are some feedback pages on Apple's website, and they shouldn't be too difficult to find. Again, the only reason for this "Forum Feedback" (which is in fact called Discussions Feedback or Feedback about Discussions) is to get feedback from forum members about how to improve or simply make the forums work, Apple does not want you to give feedback about anything else here. Moreover, "forum feedback section for Apple stores" doesn't make much sense IMO.

  • Remote not working for Apple TV

New unit the 29th of May. Was working great then yesterday the music started stopping and starting in the middle of a song> Tried all the things listed in the PDF help file for Apple TV with no luck. Left the power on last night and it was off this AM. Remote would not turn it on so I unpluged it, the light came on but all is get is blinking light when a button is pressed. Then the Apple window opened opened all the movies showed across the top and along with the first row of other items one can select from. But I cannot move across or up  and down. The light just blinks twice.
I let it set and the pictures I have selected from I Photo for screen save started working but still no remote control.
I have a apple care case ID number but for the past 4 hours the line just rings busy. Needless to say I'm a little unhappy.
Maybe some head me in the right direction.
I have read and tried some of the suggestions on the forums for the Apple TV but with no luck.

Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen.

I can't get FaceTime or iMessage to connect, I enter valid password (tested and works for Apple account) and it won't connect. I have checked all settings, upgrades iOS to 8.3 rebooted, changed Apple acount PW still wont connect. My internet connection is fine Safari works and I can access all sites. I have an iPad 2. Any help on this will be greatly appreciate.  iPad 2, iOS 8.3

This is an ongoing problem as you will see by searching the forum.
Out of curiosity, do you have 2 step verification enabled?  It was recently extended to include iMessage & FaceTime & I'm wondering if it might be causing some of the issues that some users are experiencing.

  • TS1741 I cannot get the remote app for Apple tv work on either my iPad or iPhone. Home sharing is "on". Any ideas?

Why won' remote app for Apple tv work on my iPad or iPhone?  Home sharing is turned on.

A frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is the service being blocked on the network. Make sure your network isn't hidden, has a unique name, that MAC address authentication is disabled, security is set to use WPA 2 Personal and that there is only one router/device acting as a DHCP server and providing NAT services.
Make sure your router/computer allows access over the following ports
    Port
    Type
    Protocol
    Used By
    80
    TCP
    HTTP
    AirPlay
    443
    TCP
    HTTPS
    AirPlay

    TCP/UDP
    RTSP

    DAAP
    iTunes/AirPlay

    TCP
    Bonjour
    5289
    TCP/UDP
    Bonjour
    5353
    TCP/UDP
    MDNS
    Bonjour/AirPlay
    49159
    UDP
    MDNS (Win)
    Bonjour/AirPlay
    49163
    UDP
    MDNS (Win)
    Bonjour/AirPlay
Refer to your router manual/manufacturer for any settings that are specific to that model.
Another frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is security software, in many cases configuring it correctly, disabling it or even uninstalling it can help, but in some cases the security software can cause problems that simply reconfiguring, disabling or uninstalling cannot reverse.
If you are consistently unable to activate AirPlay, have tried all the steps in this article and have security software installed on your system, you might benefit from contacting its provider or participating in any online forums they run to discuss the matter with them

Why is Apple such a freaking control freak?
    Hey Apple—quit fixing s**t that isn't broken!

You could use google.  If you want to only search these discussions forums use the following syntax in a google search:

Why is this questio/discussion in Cinema Displays when it should have been in Using Apple Support Communities?

  • Is there a plan for Apple to continue offering the external iSight camera?

    Hi All,
I'm thrilled to be the new owner of a Mac Pro w/Cinema display, but I'm getting jealous of my partner on his MacBook Pro with built-in iSight camera, having all the fun with video iChats and video Skype calls.
Since Apple has discontinued sales of the old external iSight camera, does anyone know if they have any plans for a new (even cooler) version? Or, if not, any recommendations on another product that would work just as well?
    Thanks!

    Hello John and Peter
¶2.1.1 of Apple Discussions' Terms of Use prohibits us from speculating on Apple's plans here. If you want to pursue that question, you can search the web for some of the many Mac or Apple rumor sites.
Some of the many available iSight alternatives are discussed in this link. Because you are using Leopard on your new Mac Pro, all of the alternatives mentioned there are available to you.
At present, the Apple Store sells the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision. However, any of the alternatives from the link in the paragraph above will work as long as they are compatible with your system and the applications you plans to use with your camera. The package documentation for many cameras list compatibility info for popular applications. Carefully check the documentation for any apps and cameras of interest before you buy.
Also check the camera's advertised features to be certain your compatible camera has all features that are important to you (examples: auto-focus, auto-exposrure, zoom capablility, integrated microphone, etc..) You may not need many, or even any, of these features, but many low priced Mac compatible cameras omit at least some of the features that you may need.
You will not have any difficulty finding cameras that will work with both iChat and Skype. For specific camera recommendations for iChat, search the iChat and iChat Sharing Forum for threads like this one.
For Skype-specific questions beyond what Webcams that Skype sells for use with their software, see the Skype Help pages.

  • A wishlist for Apple: Leopard Server mail services

    Apple,
At 10.5.2, we find that most of the problems with email accounts and VH sites are ... still broken.
After they are addressed (cull these forums for an indication of the problems the current code does not address), I'd like to suggest some other areas of improvement.
On a per-server, per-domain (or per-account) basis, can we set what happens to rejected mail. If a RBL or refuse item comes to the server, can we elect to choose between:
    reject and return to sender
    reject and discard
If the mail server supports such settings.
    That would be lovely.

Albeit, not through the GUI, you can adjust the behaviour of the content-filter to your liking.
Have a look at /etc/amavisd.conf. Many settings are explained in the file.
    In-depth information available here:
    http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/
P.S. This is a user to user forum. I recommend you use the feedback pages to send suggestions to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/server.html
