Forward / back buttons jump one slide

Hello. I have a problem.
When i use specific skin (designed by someone else), and when I publish / preview the presentation and I press the Forward button on the playbar, the presentation doesn't go on the next slide, but on the slide after next.
Example, if I am on 3rd slide and press forward, the presentation will jump on 5th slide, if I press forward again it goes on 7th slide, if on 7th slide I press the back button it goes on 5th and it also marks as read the slides in between (slide 4 and 6 in this examples). If i let the presentation to flow normally and don't press buttons everything is ok.
Sometimes it happens the button to work normally, but not very often which is a reason why I think its not because of the skin. I am using Captivate 6 for this
Really don't have an idea what should be the problem. if i set another skin on the projext everything is OK, the problem is showing with one skin only...
Did anyone know what would be the solution for this problem?

If the problem is evident with one particular skin, then the person that created or modified this skin has done something to cause the issue. You need to go back to THAT person and ask them to look into it. If you have the FLA file that they used to generate the skin then perhaps another AS3 programmer could investigate the issue for you if the original developer is unavailable or unreachable. But if you only have the SWF of the skin file, and the original developer cannot debug it for you, the only option you really have is to use a different skin that doesn't have the issue.

The arrow to open the tab history of the Back and Forward buttons has been removed in Firefox 4 and later.
Use one of these methods to open the tab history list:
* Right click on the Back or Forward button
* Hold down the left mouse button on the enabled Back or Forward button until the list opens

TS 4.1 User Interface Forward/Back Buttons

I'd like to the add the Forward/Back Buttons to my User Interface similar to those in the Sequence Editor. I use a modified version of the Full Featured UI on the production floor and often switch to editor mode to work on the sequence. I find it very cumbersome not to be able to jump back and forth between Sequences while doing so.
Were the buttons created using the "Editing Class" proporties and methods to build a stack of recently selected sequences? Or are the buttons already existing with the methods simply needed to be called?
Any suggestions how to impment this functionality while in edit mode?

I don't agree with that. The UIs are fine for developing if they meets your needs. If not, then you have to weigh using the sequence editor, which is not nearly as customizable, vs the cost of reimplementing whatever you can't do without that the sequence editor already has.
Note that most of the things that are missing from the UIs would take a fair amount of effort to re-implement (type editing, ...). If there were already simple-user-ready-drop-in-components for the missing features, we probably would have already included them in the UIs.
We want the UIs to be functional, but the top priority is that they be simple enough such that they can be readily modified.
Note that in some cases there are apis to support features that aren't in the UIs, but there isn't a complete control that wraps everything. For example, Engine.SearchFiles() is a huge amount of the implementation for find-and-replace, but there currently isn't a user callable dialog for invoking it or a user accessible control for automatically browsing the results, thus we don't currently include that feature in example code for the UIs. I don't know the specifics of forward/back, so I'm not sure how much of the implementation is exposed as public APIs, beyond the goto-location functionality (see Locations.GotoLocation, ...).

Can Firefox provide an option to keep the refresh button next to the forward/back buttons?

When I first installed FF4 the refresh button was buried on the righthand side of the URL window. There were a number of complaints about that location.
Then the button got moved next to the forward/back buttons. This made me quite happy.
Today, I find it's again buried in the previous position.
Can I get it back to where it is more accessible?

Forward/ back button for various sub-folders

Hello all,
Here's the scenario.....
I have a forward and back button that load several images in a sub-folder that load to a UIloader....

Since I have multiple sub-folders for my portfolio, I was wondering how to apply these same buttons to other sub-folder image paths without needing to create a pair of forward/back buttons for each sub-folder.

It's not entirely clear to me, but what I think you need to do for what I think you are saying you want to do would be to make the folder targeting (portfolio/UIloader/bike/, et al) a variable as well. The only missing link is what you would use to redefine the folders.
Your next/prev buttons can't be that smart unless you have some conditional logic that helps them realize a particular imageNumber range belongs to a particular folder. If your images have the same file names (00#.jpg) across the different folders then that won't help. I believe you would need them to be sequential such that no folder repeats the filenames/numbers of another

Put back the drop down bar for the forward/back buttons.

There was a little bar next to the forward/back buttons that allowed you to see where you been and go back or forward a few pages when you need to. I WANT THAT BAR BACK! I am sick and tired of going through this every time firefox updates. ALSO, I've lost my personas (not that it really matters since you got rid of all the space the pictures were in), and I would like them back. I really wish you people would STOP fixing things that aren't broke and giving me so much grief trying to make it look like it and act like it did before.

Lost the forward/back button after updating and the home button how do I get back?

Firefox updated to 7 and I lost all of my add ons including the home button and the forward/back button. I was able to get all of my add ons restored except the home button and the forward/back buttons. How do I get them back? Wish now that I had not updated.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode with all toolbars hidden.
* Press F11 to toggle full screen mode (Firefox/File > Full Screen)

Forward/back button

My forward/back button in Safari 4.0.1 has stopped working. I can't go back to websites I just visited.
It is dimmed out. Any suggestions????

Go to the View Menu>Customize Toolbar. When the panel opens, drag the existing back/fwd off the toolbar, then replace it with a fresh copy. Select Done.
If that doesn't solve it, then quit Safari. Via the Finder: Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.safari.plist file to the trash, then restart Safari. This resets Safari preferences to default values. Restore any custom settings in either the Preference panel, Edit (spelling), or View Menu. Also, restore any custom icons.
Also, the reset adds Apple default bookmarks to your Bookmarks collection (command/option/B keys). Delete any you don't want.

I use the old version of firefox and have tried the new one BUT on the new one the down arrow next to the forward/back buttons is not there. I need to have this so I can return to several pages ago, please tell me if the new version has this feature

Old versions have a down arrow next to the front and back buttons to show all the pages you have visiteed and can return to but the new version does not have this feature

( Windows) right click the arrows and the listing will appear. The change may well be documented somewhere but if so I do not recall where. Presumably other OS such as Mac's will also have the feature using some other shortcut.

De-activate Forward playbar button on specific slides

Can I create an action script that will allow me to de-activate/hide the Forward button in the Captivate playbar on specific slides on slide entry?

I'd like to only hide/disable the Forward button, as the user should be able to go back to the previous slide at any time.

Help - Multiple Buttons on One Slide

I have a slide with three navigational buttons on it: Menu, Back, Next. I have the pause option checked on the Menu button and I have it set to pause at the end of the slide. These work fine. Menu jumps to one slide. Back goes to the previous slide. Next goes to the next slide. Not sure if you need this information but wanted to add it anyway.
Then I have two additional buttons, "Right Answer" and "Wrong Answer". I did no want to use the Quiz Maker to create some "knowledge checks" so I am creating "interactivity" using buttons and click boxes. (I am using Quiz Maker for the Final Exam portion of the lesson and did not want the "Review Quiz" piece at then to include the Knowledge Checks.) When the user clicks the Right Answer button, I want a caption that I have built to show. If the user clicks the Wrong Answer, I want the user to show another caption and another button (that when clicked, will take the user to the slide containing that information so they can review). The two captions I mentioned here are hidden until the user clicks.
This is not working as I envisioned it. For some reason, only when clicking the Right Answer button does the action do as expected. When clicking the Wrong Answer, it does not. Can someone please help me figure out what I have wrong here?

Likely what you are encountering is something we all have to deal with. The fact that once a Button has been clicked, the pause is released and the playhead continues merrily along until something else pauses it. Perhaps another Button with the pause point staged slightly farther ahead in time.
Imagine your Captivate movie to be very much like a stream. Imagine you start where the stream begins and you insert a little boat. It floats along until something stops it. Perhaps a stick lying across the stream. That stick is like the pause point on the Button. So let's say you click the Button by pressing it down. Imagine you have pressed the little boat down just as you pressed the button. It slides under the stick and continues until it is stopped again.
What you need is a way to keep the boat paused at the stick. So you need to perform an action. Not only do you press down on the boat, but you reposition it further upstream again so it can float back to the stick where it waits again to be dealt with.
So to accomplish this in Captivate, normally you create an Advanced Action that carries out the act of showing the Caption you want to show, then it repositions the playhead backwards a bit. You can also accomplish this by assigning one of the actions on the button click to be to Jump to the previous slide. And perhaps you time that previous slide as short as can be. Maybe .1 seconds or so.

Continue Buttons & Jump to Slide buttons...

I have a presentation with 123 slides.
The presentation is a training module that consists of
submodules.
I have a menubuilder project that launches the main training
module.
The training module is published as one exe file.
The last slide at the end of each submodule has two text
buttons:
Continue, which is set to- On success 'Continue'.
Main Menu, which is set to- On success 'Jump to slide' 123
END,
which is the last slide in the project. Under project
preferences I
have set the project end options action to close project.
The two buttons work fine in preview mode,
but when published, the continue button works,
but the main menu button does not do anything.
Did I overlook something?

Update- lesson learned?
I had originally created the first two Continue and Main Menu
buttons on slide 36.
I just copied and pasted the buttons from slide 36 on to the
slides at the other 5 places I needed the two buttons.
I guess this does not work, but I am not sure why. After
remaking the two buttons (in lieu of copy/paste) on the 5
additional needed locations, the presentation works. Is this common
behavior?

I think you'll find this is by design.
Every object inside a Captivate movie has a unique ID. The slide number and even slide name that you give the slide are just labels assigned to the object. The object's ID is probably some randomly generated number that you never see. So if you've set up a slide action to jump to another slide in the original movie, there's no guarantee such a slide with the same unique ID will exist in the next movie that slide gets copied into.
So the developers of Captivate seem to have designed it so that copying a slide from one project to another will default back to certain settings that are safe.
Additionally, you will find that if you copy a caption or some other slide element from one project to another, Captivate will rename the Item Name. This is once again to prevent conflicts where more than one item in a movie might end up with the same ID and cause instability.
So, although the way Captivate is designed may mean extra work for you when you copy slides across, it will prevent your movie from becoming corrupted or unstable.

Button-jump to slides not working

I have created a content menu for my project. Created several
buttons on the same slide. Only the first one works - which links
to the next page. The rest of the buttons don't link to the slides
though I have set it to "jump to slide - 5 slide 5".

I've seen this behavior before. In the case I saw, the user
had inserted question slides that were placed between where the
jump was supposed to go and the slide they were on at the time they
clicked the menu item. You may wonder what this would have to do
with impeding progress. Well, it's not so much the fact you have
Question slides, but if my hunch is correct, you also have enabled
a setting for quizzing that says each question MUST be answered
before the project can continue.
So take a look at the following setting: Project > Quiz
Manager... > Quiz Settings tab and look at the second field
labeled: Required. My guess is that it may say "Required - the user
must take the quiz to continue".

Forward/Back button behavior updated in v. 2 release?

Hi, does anyone know if the button behavior on the remote control has been updated in the new software release? Previously when watching recorded videos it skipped forward in three minute increments. While paused it would jump 10 seconds I think.
Skipping forward thirty seconds would be a lot better for me.
