Forward camera port for static IP address

Hi.
I have a Foscam camera which I have used with a Netgear modem-router. I used UPNP to forward its port to my IP address. My ISP then gave me an address which accesses my own non-static IP at all times.
I have now purchased and installed the AirPort Extreme, and I need to setup my camera. Everything is working properly, other than external access to the camera.
I have disabled the camera's UPNP as I understand AirPort doesn't support it. I added a port forward option for both TCP and UDP for the camera's private IP. However, I still cannot get the camera to work.
I tried to change various options - toggled the NAT PMP, camera's UPNP, added a default host, but nothing seems to work - I can't access the camera externally.
Appreciate any assistance.
Edit: It is interesting that when I try to browse the camera webpage (from an external internet source), I get the 'server not found' message faster for all ports I do not use, and it is significantly slower for the port I forward (8000). So something does appear to be working...

Thanks for the reply.
I can't run wireshark (I don't know how, anyway) on the camera, but I tried to add a port forward for my laptop and ran wireshark there.
Then, I accessed from an external network my IP:port, and I did see some activity (obviously, there's no one to answer on port 12345).
This is the response:
http://imgur.com/RTYvGzB
So it appears something is working, but I am not sure why my camera doesn't "get" it when I try to access its port (where it does work with the internal IP).

  • How to forward/open ports for WRT54G?

Hi. I recently bought a WRT54G because my old router was destroyed by lightening and thunder. I have managed to set it up, and got the interent itself to work with static IP adress (192.168.1.101 for my PC).
However, even though I have tried to forward/open ports for applications like uTorrent and DC++ as well as Limewire, I have no luck. When I test if the ports are indeed opened, I get the result that they are not. Here are how my port forward setting looks like for utorrent. The port in the settings image is of course the same as in uTorrent.
    http://www.pictub.com/quickupload/01/untitled-1mb4wd.jpg
I can't seem to open any ports, even though I have followed tutorials like the ones at portforward.com. I have the latest firmware for my router, as I flashed it when I got it. Help .

    Yes, I did .
Anyways, look what I found in the uTorrent FAQ:
1.7 Special note for users with Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS routers, there are severe problems with them when running any P2P application
To fix it, they say one has to flash with a unofficial firmware, but I will rather get the money back and buy another router tomorrow. Thanks for the help anyways .

  • Forward one port to multiple ip addresses WRT300n

Is it possible to forward one port to all IP addresses on the network. I tried to use the broadcast address but it doesnt allow that.
    any help is appreciated

You can only forward traffic to a single IP address. Anything else is impossible. It would be like you talking to 10 persons at the same time... Total confusion...

  • Port Forwarding and Printing with Static IP Address

    Hey there -
I am trying to setup a network printer that can be printed to from anywhere in the world. My organization has 5 static IP addresses given to us by our ISP. Four of those I have on computers, and one of them I have on my Linksys router (WRT54G v.8).
What I want to do is be able to setup a printer on my router that I can print to from anywhere I have an internet connection. My wireless router's static IP address is 74.172.54.XXX - The address on my network is 192.168.7.1 - I have a printer statically assigned the IP address 192.168.7.2 - and I have a port forwarding for port 70 to forward to 192.168.7.2
In theory, I would think that now I could print to 74.172.54.XXX:70 and have no problems. But that doesn't seem to be working. Even printing to 192.168.7.1:70 doesn't seem to work either.
Also, the printer has a web GUI interface that if I type http://192.168.7.1/ into my browser it comes up, so in theory I would think typing http://74.172.54.XXX:70 into my browser it should come up (but it doesn't nor does http://192.168.7.1:70).
Anybody got any suggestions? I tried to do a search about this, but ever Port Forwarding question seemed to deal with gaming (which I have no desire to do). Thanks!
I will include two screen snapshots of what I am talking about:
    Thanks for any help.

Is the router setup to accept static connections?
I have my router set up to accept both, so from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.192 the addresses are static the other addresses are given by DHCP.
If you do not define a range and the address your laptop has as static IP conflicts with the address given by DHCP your loose ... as in you get no address.
Set up of that feature may depend on your type of router but usually any decent router will have that capability ... read your manual for specifics about your unit.
    Best of luck.

  • Have correct info for static IP address but wifi still doesn't work

The way the internet is set up in my condo building I have to use a set static IP address.  I have all of the information necessary, but it still won't connect to wifi.  Has anyone had this problem?

Oh, something I should have mentioned initially that makes the case slightly interesting, The wifi works perfectly when connected to the internet via my Time Capsule, but if I turn that off and try to connect to the main router I have to be sat within two feet of the router or I lose connectivity.  I don't really know much at all about internet connections and frequencies and ranges and whatnot, but am I right in saying normal internet is 'n' and the Time Capsule can also emit 'g' and 'b' or something like that? Are there two antennae in the macbook, one that picks up the normal internet and one reserved for the other types and perhaps the one that connects to normal internet is faulty in some way?

  • Forwarding UDP port for Remote Desktop Gateway

What is the correct way to forward UDP 3391 port for RDG server?
What direction should I choose for UDP port parameters? "Receive" or "Receive Send" or something else?

Aurimas N, Were you able to get RemtoteFX working through TMG? I have the same issue whre I can not get UDP working with clients conneciting over the WAN.  Can you tell me specifically how you got this to work on your TMG?
    Thanks
I am not sure how to check to be honest, on TMG I only see 443 port being used, and since it is remoteApp there is no connection indicator, or I don't know how to access it.

  • How do you increase your IP Address pool for static IP addresses?

I have an address pool from 192.168.200.1 to 192.168.200.250, the entire pool is being used by DCHP. How do I increase my address pool, so that I can assign static IP addresses for printers etc?
    Say: 192.168.200.251
But not allow DCHP to use it?
I will assign the static IP address using DNS.
    I hope that makes sense?
    Thanks

Please re-read responses in your earlier thread for some related background on this question.
If your DHCP address pool is from .1 to .250 inclusive, then you have four addresses left for static hosts in the typical /24 subnet.  You have .251. .252, .253 and .254 available.  One of those addresses will probably be your gateway router, and one will be your server host.
You don't need to do anything to the DHCP pool to use those four addresses, because the static addresses are inherently outside of the DHCP pool.
DHCP address pools are not the same thing as the IP subnet address block, and DHCP-assigned addresses do not control what (other) IP hosts and addresses that a DHCP-addressed host can connect to.
DHCP servers do provide local and usually somewhat transient clients access to a pool of shared IP addresses, and they provide clients with information on the local network including the gateway router address, the subnet mask, and the DNS server address(s).
And in general, do you really have 200+ dynamic-addressed hosts in your network?   If you do have 200-some transient hosts, then you're headed for either a bigger netblock (eg: a /22 configuration), or you're headed toward configuring multiple submets and routing among the various subnets.
The /24 configuration is another and shorter nomenclature for the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 that's common.

Is the IP address 192.168.1.105 really the IP address of the server in your LAN?
Moreover, check what kind of modem you have. Follow the instructions here. If the IP address on the status page is a private IP address and the IP address on whatismyipaddress.com is different then your modem does routing too and you have to configure port forwarding there as well.

  • Static mac-address

    Hi
    static mac-address x.x.x.x vlan xx interface f0/0 interface f0/1
if this packet come to switch, switch will send out two interface or load-share on each interface
    Thanks

    Hi,
For interface-id, specify the interface to which the received packet is forwarded. Valid interfaces include physical ports and port channels. For interface-id, specify the interface to which the received packet is forwarded. Valid interfaces include physical ports or port channels. For static multicast addresses, you can enter multiple interface IDs. For static unicast addresses, you can enter only one interface at a time, but you can enter the command multiple times with the same MAC address and VLAN ID.

  • Any way to open port for all computers?!

    Hey folks,
I'm using an Airport Extreme as the router for a small network. It's been performing fantastically.
But, something I can't figure out is:
Is there any way to open a port for all the computers I have hooked into the Airport?
I can of course open ports per internal IP address, but what I'd really like to do is just open up a slew of ports for all of the machines. This way I can leave them grabbing DHCP-provided, non-static IPs, but they can also get access to the services they need to.
Tried the old asterisk in the host IP field (like "192.168.1.*") but no dice. Actually I can't even find a yes or no answer on if this is even possible...
    Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but the AirPorts do not support a feature to forward a port to multiple IP addresses; only multiple ports to a single IP address.

  • [ WRT120N ] I can't seem to forward this port..

alright, so idk if any of you know of runescape private servers but i am currently in the making of one and i've been having a problem letting people connect to my server because i haven't forwarded port 43954.
i've been trying to forward this port for hours now and it just doesnt seem to work. i have followed the guides on www.portforward.com and tried (from what i think) every possible way to get it to work.
whenever i think i have it, ill use my PFPortChecker or canyouseeme.org and yet it says it doesnt work.
this is what the portchecker says
External IP address:  Your external IP address is **.**.**.**
Ping Results: We were able to ping your router.
Port Check results: Your port is NOT OPEN or not reachable.
I really dont know what im doing wrong :3
if anyone could please help me it would be greatly appriciated!!!!

Check the status page of the router. Do you see the external IP which camyouseeme reports?

I set up a PPTP (VPN) server on my network so that I could access stuff at home when I am not.  I went to the router to configure router to forward the port for VPN -- 1723 -- to the IP of the the server and got the following error:
Port overlap occured!  Please change your entry!
I am running firmware version 1.04.3 and have tried 1.03.7 without any luck.  I originally configured with a previous version of the firmware and have haven't had a need to change the configuration.  I tried to save the settings without any changes and got the same message.  The current port forwarding is:

I dont' have any port overlaps.  I have changed everything and nothing works.  It was working perfectly under the original firmware.  This router is less than a year old. I have looked at other threads that are serveral months old without a new post and without a resolution.  I am going to need to change the web server as the machine that was running the web server is now dead and I CANNOT change the address.  I wish there was a way to go back to original firmware.   I even tried to reset the router to factor defaults and could not change the port forwarding.

Yes, you are right you don't have any port overlaps...Well, you should check the subtabs "Port Range Forwarding" and "Port Range Triggering" and check if you have any port overlaps there...Also did you reset your router after the last firmware upgrade ? If not you must reset your router and re-configure it from scratch...
Do not have anything under either one of those tabs until now because I need to get VPN established. That is under "Port Range Forwarding" and it is just a single port -- 1732 (VPN).
    Steps
Backed up configuration to a file.
    Flashed with 1.03.7
    Power Cycled WRT350N
Tried to add a single port forward for VPN.

Followed the same with the above steps.
    Got the same error.
Pushed in the "Factory Defaults Button" for about 45 seconds.
    Now with Factory Defaults
    Configured for ISP.
Tried to add in just a POP3 server with no other ports defined.
    Got the same error.
    Flashed with 1.04.3.
    Power Cycled
    Set back to factory defaults.
    Configured for ISP.

Tried to add POP3 server with no other ports defined.
    Got the same error.
    Flashed back to 1.04.3.
Restored back up. Old ports are still defined and still can not map new ones.
I think that the firmware version that was on it when I bought it was 1.03.2 -- wish that I had never upgraded it.

  • Using separate ethernet ports for LAN and internet

    Following scenario:
A couple of Lion clients and a Lion server connected to a switch. Switch connected to router for internet access. All devices, clients, server and router are in the same C-Class net.
I'd like to connect the Lion server with 2 ethernet ports to the switch, so that one port is solely used for connections to the Lion clients (aka LAN) and the other port is solely used for connections to the internet. That way heavy LAN traffic to/from the server cannot bog down internet access to the server. Any ideas how to acomplish that?
Usually you would configure the Lion server as a router and connect the Lion clients (via a switch) to one port and the cable modem to the other, so both ports are in different subnets. But I don't want all internet traffic from the clients going through the Lion server.
The best I've come up so far was to configure both ethernet ports with static IP addresses. The one connecting to the clients with a 255.255.255.0 netmask but no router IP given. The one for internet with a 255.255.255.255 netmask and the router IP set to my physical router IP. It seems to work, but I'm not sure, whether this is the suggested way to do such a setup.
Maybe some manual editing of the routing table is are more solid solution?
    Any tips appreciated.
    Pete

What you want to do can be done but maybe not the way you are trying.
First yes, you would use two Etherner ports on the Mac, if it is a Mac Pro or XServe it has two built-in, other Mac models can do this using a USB Ethernet interface.
Next, the way I would normally do this is to have a separate switch for the WAN router, this would make the setup look like the following
LAN Switch ----- Server ------------ Router --- Internet
           | |                             |
           | |                            NAT
           | +-----------------------------+
           |
           +------ Client Devices
The router could be doing NAT via one interface, or a separate Firewall box could do the NAT.
Another possible way would involve segmenting the lan switch by setting up a VLAN and putting one port for the Servers second Ethernet connection on to that VLAN (using public IP addresses and the a connection to the router on that VLAN, the LAN switch could then route between the two VLANs. Cheaper LAN switches do not have this ability.
