Forward Key not functioning

Hi,
When i am typing text, i can only move the cursor backward through the text using arrow keys, but not forward. The forward key does work, as pressing alt+forward scrolls forward to the end of words as it is supposed to.
I don't think this is a hardware problem as it works when i do cmd and alt fwd. This happens in all applications when i need to type text.

At an internet distance, there is no diagnosis we can give you. All we can give you are self-diagnostic tests for you to attempt to see if you can find an actual OS/software reason, or deduce down to hardware being the most likely cause. But true diagnosis simply cannot be done at an internet-distance.
As I said earlier, all of those self-diagnostic steps could take you (likely) several days to do. And, if they all reveal nothing, then what they wind up revealing is that some bit of hardware is the most likely cause...but even that's not a true diagnosis, just a deduction based on ruling out other things.
So, let us know how you'd like to proceed...we'll gladly give you such tests to run, but you need to be ready for a multi-day process during which your device will remain unusable, with a very highly probable outcome of a hardware-level issue (and, at an internet distance, we can't get to anything more detailed than that...we can say it's most likely hardware, but there's just no way to tell you what bit of hardware it might be).

If your enter key is not working but you have to use it, you can bring up the on screen keyboard, and that will allow you to use enter.
Here is a link to open the on screen keyboard.
Go into device manager and uninstall the keyboard and restart the computer. This should reinstall the driver to correct the problem.

Function keys not functioning.....

After I installed OS X Lion on my MacBook Pro the function keys at the top of my keyboard no longer function normally. Most of them do nothing when pressed except the volume keys, the volume down switches to spaces and the volume up key brings up the dashboard. The other keys have no action. The workaround that I have found so far is to actually press the fn key while executing the commands. I do not know if there is a setting in the system preferences or what but this is getting to be very annoying. Anyone else having this problem? If so does anyone know how to fix this?

I am having the same issues with some of my F keys. Just purchased my first MAC (long time Windower ;-), so I'm still finding my way around. I have Lion, and was thinking, are some of the F keys not functioning because Lion does that funtion a different way? I will post it here if I find your answer.

Arrow key not functioning

My arrow keys are not functioning when I tried to use them to move my objects. They work fine in InDesign and Photoshop, but not responding at all in Illustrator. Anyone knows why?

Always mention the version of Illustrator & the OS you are using.
Check if by any chance the 'Keyboard Increment' in Preferences (Ctrl/Cmd-K) is set to 0.

Backslash & Pipe key not functioning in Arch on Chromebook C710

Hello,
I am unable to figure out why my backslash / pipe key is not functioning on my Acer C710 chromebook. Every other key appears to work. I check the forums and the Wiki but I was unable to find a solution.
Here is my localectl status:
System Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8
VC Keymap: n/a
X11 Layout: n/a
I ran a "showkey" from console and every other key worked besides the backslash / pipe key.
I also don't see anything in dmesg.
What's my next step in troubleshooting?

My issue is with the keybaord of my Macbook Pro. Just yesterday I noticed the following problems with my keyboard.
Error Issue:
Right Shift key+D
Right Shift key+C
Right Shift key+E
Left CMD+C
Are all not functioning. I don't know what happened, I ran the keyboard viewer and tested all these keys out, the weird thing is that I can use the alternate keys on right and left, like shift and CMD.
Please help your urgent feedback is appreciated.

I suggest trying the following (check after each step):
1) Reboot
2) Reset PRAM using this procedure: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
3) Reset the SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
4) check in a different user space (maybe it's a preferences problem)
5) take to Apple store

I'm the only person that needs to save the Titles?
I do it sometimes when I want to reuse a title in more than one project.
When you export out the Titles, what happens then?
Only then does it become a separate file, suitable for importing into other projects. This is NOT necessary to export your finished video, it's only necessary if you want to reuse the title in other projects.
The Titles are photos and scrolling words, that are used together as a memoriam in different projects. So having the Titles as separate files on the HD is pretty much essential.
That's more than just a title, which in PP usually contains only text. For something this complex, it might be better to create a base project or template that contains all the elements you want to reuse, and then start new projects with that, renaming to a new project name immediately after opening the template.
For example, I have an HD Wedding project that contains all my sequences, graphics and titles ready to go in organized bins. I start by opening that project and do a Save As... using the couple's last name. That way each new project starts with the elements I need and I don't have to recreate them all the time.

All keyboard shortcut keys not functioning

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this...
I have installed OSX 10.6, everything runs great...but I cannot use any shortcut keys, not even the simple select and copy functions work. I can still do these things through the edit menu, but it's a pain!
I have checked the keyboard information under systems preferences and everything seems normal.
Any help and or advice greatly appreciated!

Keys not functioning on bluetooth keyboard

I have replaced the battery on my bluetooth mouse and now my bluetooth small keyboard is not functioning fully.
The middle row of keys and ones to the left and right are not responding. The shift lock light doesn't come on either.
I've replaced the batteries in the keyboard too, just in case, although the indications were that the battery life was OK. I get the green light when turning it on but still no function on some of the keys.
Has changing the battery in my mouse affected my keyboard? Is it something to do with Universal Access? Mouse Keys are off.

It's the one that came with my imac which was purchased 4 months ago. Everything was working fine then I packed it all up to go home for Christmas two weeks ago. Set it up at home and had these issues with both mouse and keyboard when I turned it on. So changed battery in mouse and that's OK but no joy with the keyboard.

I am using a desktop slimline model: s5268hk, with keyboard model: KG-0851. I don't remember what program I installed that caused the trouble but anyway, right now- it is not functioning like the usual. I re-installed the driver from HP support yet nothing has changed. You may have to go back to a known good system restore point.
Right mouse click on my Computer, select properties, then advanced system setting then restore. When you get to the restore window, check the box to show all available restore points and pick a date where your know when your PC worked correctly.
If you are using a Norton AV product then turn off "tamper protection" before you attempt a restore or it will fail.

Previous(Back) and (fast)forward keys not working in iTunes

A short while ago, I found out that my function keys (back- and forward buttons specifically) have stopt working in iTunes. The exact moment they started to malfunction in unknown to me, but in my current configuration they always did what they had to do up until a couple of weeks ago.
My specs:
Mac Mini late 2012
16 Gb RAM
256Gb SSD + 500Gb HDD
Apple Wireless Keyboard
Apple Magic Trackpad
OSX Mavericks 10.9.1
iTunes 11.1.4 (64bit)
I can't recall altering system settings with which these controls could stop working. Note: the play/pauze button works great!
Furthermore: In VLC, all controls work fine, including the back and forward buttons.
Could this be due to an update of iTunes? Also, have more people encountered this problem? If so: What is the sollution, 'cause this is annoying the crap out of me..

After searching one discussion after another I found the reason the keys malfunction in iTunes: AirServer. While this program is running, the FF and Prev keys (F7 & F9) won't work in iTunes. When the app is closed, they immediately start working again. Seems to be a bug in AirServer's coding. Hope an update will undo this problem.

Space Bar & Delete Key Not Functioning Properly in Safari/Chrome

I have Googled extensively on this problem to no avail. I'm hoping the Apple Community faithful can help.
I recently had the logic board on my work Mac Pro crash, and updated to a new Mac Pro (Snow Leo). The local Apple Store was of course able to tranfer all my settings/info to the new machine, and so far everything is humming right along with no issues...except for something VERY strange. Ever since getting the new Mac Pro, typing in Safari and Chrome is very screwed up...as far as I can tell only the spacebar and delete key functions. In Safari, hitting the spacebar while typing functions like hitting the spacebar on a webpage, jumping down on the page. The delete key functions like I'm hitting the back button in the browser. This appears to be happening in Chrome as well, but it can't handle it at all and crashes instantly upon hitting either of those keys. Strange thing is, Firefox is working perfectly.
I have deleted preference files and repaired permissions and neither of those helped. I'm lost here guys. Anyone have any insight?

Sorry to hear, I would not have let anyone transfer settings.
Easy to do yourself.
I would have kept the old system.
And then you would be using a clean vanilla OS.
So what I would jdo now is a clean install on one of your hard drifves and see if that rules out issues.
USB cables, extensions, hubs, keybaord is a hub also, can all do mischief, even kernel panic.
Permissions? No. Repair the hard drive, Yes, maybe even with something more robust than Apple First Aid.
And not just prefs, a lot of issues reside with application cacvhe files and folders.
Cloning a system, repair8ing, and booting is good maintenance.
A clean install and update should take under an houjr.
While new Mac Pro should run 10.6.8, it is possible that it would have come or shipped with Lion at this point.

Arrow keys and enter key not functioning in Firefox 3.6 when viewing PDF

I'm using Adobe Reader 9.3.0.
I have a web application that displays PDFs (using Adobe Reader) in a browser. The PDF is loaded onto the page inside an IFRAME. In addition to the IFRAME containing a PDF, the page also includes several forms, text fields, etc. For the most part this is working fine. However, I have a glitch when using this in Firefox 3.6. I'm finding that certain keyboard events are being lost and I strongly suspect that they are being swallowed by Adobe Reader. When I place focus on an HTML text field and press enter key or arrow keys, I do not get the appropriate key events. If I run the exact same test without the PDF IFRAME these key events work correctly, but as soon as I load the PDF into the IFRAME they do not. I believe the primary key event that gets lost is the keydown event. I do get the keyup event.
Again, the events work correctly up until I load the PDF onto the page.
I've verified that this error does not occur in Firefox 3.5 and 3.0.

Paste the above into an HTML document. Open the HTML document in Firefox 3.6. Check the four checkboxes. Move into the text field and press arrow keys and enter key to observe the results when it is working correctly. Then click on the "Now Load PDF" link. Press the arrow keys and enter key again and observe that the behavior has changed.
Anybody have any idea why this is happening or how to work around it?

I found a workaround!
By using an object tag instead of an iframe, all the keys seems to work fine and the PDF still renders in the page the same way.

Option key not functioning correctly since 10.6.8

Since I upgraded to 10.6.8, my keyboard (first sllim version, extended) option key has not been functioning correctly or at all.
Here are just a few problems associated with it:
8 I can no longer make a bullet (option 8) as you see here
8 I can no longer shut down my computer using command option control eject. It restarts instead now.
8 I can no longer perform various keyboard shortcuts in Adobe CS5 apps that require using the option key.
How do I fix this?

Either Pantone scheduler or Quicken 2007 caused the problem during login. Removal of these items (and an old version of Salling Clicker) fixed the problem.
