Forward key on 17 inch PB not working. Please advise.

Question

I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find a fix for this:
The forward (end) key will no longer advance the cursor letter by letter. However, using option plus the forward key will advance the cursor to the end of the word. This means that the key mechanism itself is fine, but remapping of the key may have happened.
Any tips for correcting this?

Well,
Unfortunately you may have to kiss your data goodbye. But before giving up, you may be able to recover from such a situation first by:
1. Checking with an authorized service center if your clock battery needs replacing.
2. If the clock battery is good, try zapping the PRAM:

3. If nothing results of 3, purchase a Firewire hard drive at least the size of your internal drive from http://www.macsales.com/ and Filesalvage:

And attempt recovery to that drive after formatting the external drive with Disk Utility from your installer. If you have another Mac, you can also attempt to hook it up as an external hard drive by setting the Powerbook in Target Disk Mode:

4. If Filesalvage doesn't find anything, you can try Prosoft Data Rescue II:

5. Now while Alsoft Disk Warrior isn't a data recovery application, it can sometimes repair the directory so that files become visible again. Version 4.1 is the latest and is from here:

If neither 3 nor 4 nor 5 works, you may have to take the machine to a data recovery specialist. Unfortunately these can cost thousands of dollars.
