Forwarding an appointment

Hi all,
There is a functionality in to the calendar of OS 10.2.x with is very confusing for the users…
- You will find an appointment in your calendar. You can open an appointment and you will find "Forward" the context menu.
- You are able to forward this appointment: (but without a notification to the meeting organizer)
Facts:
It's a big difference in to the calendar between Lotus Notes / Outlook 2010 and Blackberry.
• In Lotus Notes you will forward an e-mail with a picture and text of the appointment in it.
• In Outlook you can forward actually the appointment as an Calendar entry
• *On a BlackBerry10 you can forward the appointment as an .ics calendar file.
*The original invitation will be lost at this point on the BlackBerry.
The Blackberry10 is sending an .ICS file to the particular recipient with original meeting organizer.
Well, this is working as designed and it isn't a security issue.
It's in the responsibility of the user.
From my point of view, Blackberry should modify or disable this functionality.
Using "Follow Up" insteed of "Frowarding" is our workaround at the moment.

I use Roadrunner e-mail and originally used the phone calendar on my Samsung phone. My wife uses Hotmail and originally used the default calendar on her I-Pad.
The work-around now consists of adding an event on my Google calendar, making it public and it then appears on the Google calendar on my wife's I-Pad.
I can forward the event to my PC using Roadrunner, opening it up and seamlessly downloading the event to the Outlook calendar on my PC. However, when I forward the event to my wife's Hotmail address which she accesses on her I-Pad, the box appears in her messages saying "Tap to Download, Invite 111.vcs, 0.6KB". When she taps on the box she gets another box saying "Invite 111.vcs with a small picture of a calendar in it and when she taps that the choices come up for "Air Drop", "Mail" or "Quick Look".However, the event cannot be opened to read it nor does it appear on her calendar. Prior to the "upgrade" I would forward her the event, she would tap to download and the event would go directly to the default calendar on her I-Pad.
Parenthetically, I attempted to provide this information in the previous message but while copying a quote the message froze and was lost resulting in an abbreviated reply and leading to the comment re: the difficulty using this forum.

hi, when I try to forward a calendar appointment to another contact I don't get any error but the appointment is not sent. My calendar is in sync with outlook.

Calendar/appointment issues

On my 8330, when viewing an appointment, there is no longer an option for me to "send using" where i can forward the appointement to another person, or even another BBM user. I checked under my default services, and the Calendar isn't listed there anymore (the only thig listed is "Browser"). I need to be able to send appointments to people. I recently upgraded to 4.5.0.160, hoping that this would correct the problem, but it didn't. Anyone? I tried Crackberry.com and haven't found anyone there that could help.

Welcome to the forums russcrandol
Try sending your service books to the phone again:
1. Log in to your carrier's BIS site (where you setup your email)
2. Go to Service Books and click "Send Service Books"
See if it works after that and post back with results/questions.

Help with Sync Calendar with Outlook all appointments do not sync..

I am not a super tech but I do have some pretty good skills for a girl, if i do say so myself.... however I am So frustrated.. I need help.
This is my very first public post.. So I hope I give all the info that will help, but if I missed something, please let me know.
Here is some background info:
I have a BB Bold
I do NOT use it on an enterprise (network)
I sync my bb with my dell
Windows Vista (UGH!!!)
Microsoft outlook - Version 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001
My calendar and my contacts are the most important reason I have a bb
My contacts are FINE
My calendar is a MESS
I have 2 separate email addresses working though my bb.. For the purposes of his post I will refer to them as
[email protected] and
[email protected]
When I make appointments in my work calendar, I do one of the 2 things to get all my appointments on the BB
Schedule my gmail address as an attendee to the appointment or
Forward the appointment to my gmail address from my work email
When I make appointments directly from my BB I do it by selecting Menu>New = my gmail account defaults as the "send using"
BB Info:
When I am in the calendar and I select >Menu.Options> Calendars> I have 3 options
[email protected] which has (518 entries)
Device Default which has (157 entries)
[email protected] which has (429 entries)
When I go to Menu>Options>Advanced Options>Default Services>(CICAL) is [email protected] it shows that I have the options to select my Gmail OR my .mac address
Here is the problem - this did not used to happen, and I quite honestly didnt realize that my backup was messed up so i have NO idea how long this is going on.
When I sync with Outlook
There are only 518 appointments that are synced
I cannot get the other 157 (device default) + 429 (mac) to sync with my outlook
Can anyone help me get them all on my gmail calendar? or into my outlook so that I can then sync back with the BB
I do not sync my bb with my mac
Here is what I have tired:
Screaming at the computer
Screaming in spanish at the blackberry
ignoring them both
I have restrained myself from throwing both of them against the wall.
but seriously
I have set the BB desktop manager to do a one way sync > bb to outlook = NOTHING Only the gmail syncs
I have changed the (CICAL) to my mac address and performed a sync = NOTHING - only the gmail syncs
I am at a loss and would appreciate any help.

Hi,
We shall then forget about the MAC records.
Outlook contains the 158 records from the Gmail associated calendar.
The default calendar records need to be cleared and restored to the Gmail associated Calendar.
The resulting Blackberry gmail associated calendar will then be synchronized with Outlook to add the former default records
resulting in synchronized calendars on both Outlook and the Blackberry.
Read this over, I suggest more than once. Method three is what we are going to do.
Let me know tomorrow what questions you have with the procedure so we can make sure we are successful.

IPhone Calendar Shifting Appoints a day forward

For the past several weeks our organizations has experienced calendar appointments shifting a day forward. We are only seeing this for multi-day appointments for example....an appointment for Tuesday & Wednesday from 1pm - 4pm will shift to Wed - Thursday and become an all day event. This is only happening with Apple devices with most of our executives.

We haven't seen this issue in our organization so I can't say for sure the fix suggested by Microsoft work as they say it does..but hopefully this will steer you in the right direction.

Can't reply or create new e-mail at all. Can if I go to photos & forward 1

Very odd behavior that started when I upgraded to the new iOS 4.
When I'm in the mail app and I touch the "create new mail" icon, it lights up but nothing happens. No new, blank e-mail message appears. Also, when I am reading an e-mail, if I hit the "reply" icon, I get the options for reply, reply-all & forward, but after pressing them, nothing happens. I just return to the message.
If I go to my photo library and forward an image that way, a new e-mail does pop up and I can send that way.
I have 3 different accounts on the iPhone and have for years. MobileMe, Hotmail and an Exchange account. They can all recieve mail and I can manipulate it (move it to folders, delete it, etc), but I don't get the pleasure of responding.
Obviously this is a huge issue. I had to replace my iPhone for a hardware reason last night. I had the Genius look at that issue too. He had no idea what was going on. He told me to try restoring my backup to the new phone and if I had the same problem, come back.
It's not that easy to get an appointment and head over to an Apple location, so I'm hoping someone on this forum has a solution.

To clarify, this has happened on two consecutive phones?
If yes, it would seem to point to dome bad data in the backup. I know this sounds less than fun, but if it is the case, could you try restoring the phone as a new phone and then add the email accounts to see if you can email then? If it still doesn't work, you can always restore your old backup. If it does work, you won't want to use that particular backup. That would mean tackling the pain in the tukus task of repopulating your iPhone from scratch. But it would all work.

IPod touch suddenly fast forwarding through songs and videos + voice control screen cutting in

In the last couple of days, it has started fast forwarding through songs and videos randomly. The voice control screen is also cutting in randomly. It happens as soon as I turn it on and play my first track or video. The only other problem I have noticed is that the volume controls on my headphones are no longer working. The headphones would be less than 6 months old and are genuine Apple ones. I don't think the problem is related because if I unplug them the fast forwarding still happens. I've tried powering it off and then re-starting it and I have been keeping the software up to date on it so I'm not sure what else I can try.
In saying that, this morning it seems to be working properly but I'm worried the problem will return. I still can't adjust the volume via the headphones though.
If anyone has any ideas about what I can do to resolve the fast forwarding problem, I would appreciate the feedback. The headphones I don't really care about because I can replace them.
I've had my iPod touch for a few years and use it pretty heavily so part of me is wondering whether it is just getting to the end of its life. I'm not sure what sort of lifespan I can expect from my iPod touch.

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

this is very weird because at first I thought it was some glitch where someone typed their email wrong and sent it
to mine accidently, but it even uses my name. why is this happening? didn't someone hack into my account?
the reason i am concerned is that could someone use my applecare if they registered with my apple id?

Somebody at scheduling incorrectly typed your email address instead of the intended address. For example the email should have gone to [email protected] and they typed [email protected] The error could have been as simple as a single character mistyped.
There is nothing to do.

Thanks this has helped me solve the problem.
I used the Outlook Anywhere connectivity tester you suggested. Selected Outlook autodiscover.
It told me that it could not resolve things on any of the 4 tests.
I saw that using the last test "Attempting to contact the Autodiscover service using the DNS SRV redirect method", was the only one likely to work in my case.
I had already changed 3 entries in dns to point at my DDNS address but this had not worked, from the errors I could see that it was just the certificate name not matching so I changed the DNS entries for Autodiscover, autoconfig and _autodiscover._tcp
to be webmail.domain.com which is a CNAME to my ddns address for the broadband router, which in turn forwards ports 80 and 443 to the exchange server for owa and activesync access. I got an error message saying that I had an illegal entry in my SRV record
as a CNAME is not allowed, but it saved the change anyway.
I reran the test and it worked.I can now make new outlook clients attach teo exchange.
Thank you, after 8 hours yesterday of trying to reolve this I suddnely got it to work on one laptop but the other still would not and had lost track of what I could have changed so had no idea what actually made it work.

Recurring appointment not updating correctly with caldav calendar

I use iCal for my family's calendar. I sync this calendar to my online caldav calendar at godaddy.com. I have a 9-month weekly recurring teaching appointment in my calendar. In each month, there is at least one date that I do not need to teach, so I am trying to delete the event on that date. When I delete it in iCal for Sept 2010 and Oct 2010, it syncs bidirectionally to the web interface and removes the event from both iCal and my online calendar. However, when I try to delete the date from Nov 2010 and forward, it will not sync to the web interface, and about 15 seconds later when my iCal refreshes, the event comes back to my iCal calendar. Can anyone help me with this? I have called Go Daddy, and they say it is an iCal issue.

First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
If the issue persists:
1.) Delete the GoDaddy calendar from iCal > Preferences > Accounts
2.) Re-add the GoDaddy calendar
If the issue persists:
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running re-add the GoDaddy account to iCal > Preferences > Accounts and test.

The desk top moved all appoints ahead 3 hours

I have a Tungsteon E2 - which is fine but I'm afraid to hot sync it & push all my appointments times ahead 3 hours.
I work for a East coast company & am based on the West Coast. Is there a universal setting I can fix to move them back
I also prefer not to ending up with double appointment settings when I do sync.

Have you checked you Palm Desktop for the proper time zone? The "Daylight Savings Time" update would have moved you computer time forward last month, this could be part of this issue, but that would only account for 1-hour change, not three. You need to make sure both you Tungsten E2 and you Palm Desktop application (PC Time) match. I would set you Palm to one time zone either east coast or west coast, and just make the adjustment in you head. If you change the time zone on the device from PDT to EDT or visa versa this can cause problems in scheduled appointments.

An SDN'er noticed a comment I made in one of my posts about how Uwe had set me straight about the handle_data_changed method of editable ALV's, and how easy they are to code once one understands how to use that method.

Schedule appointment in outlook with submit button in pdf form

Hi All,
One of our client wants that when submit button is clicked on the pdf form, an appointment should be created in outlook of a pre-specified email address.
I am aware that we can submit the form by email. Is it somehow possible, that instead of normal email with attachment, we can send an appointment email.

I don't think this is possible. The only thing you can do from
Acrobat/Reader is create a new email draft, not anything else.
