Forwarding aol mail to .mac

Does anybody know what incoming mail server settings are required to forward aol email to .mac? I tried using "imap.aol.com" in incoming mail server without any luck.

Do you want to access your AOL email account with the Mail.app or forward your AOL email to your .Mac account?
Via your .Mac account preferences, you can check another email account that is a POP type account which will deposit received messages for the POP type account in your .Mac account's Inbox mailbox but this cannot be done with an IMAP type account.
And I don't believe you can forward messages from an AOL email account to another email account via AOL account prefereces.
If you want to access your AOL email account with the Mail.app, check this link.

  • Incoming AOL mail in Mac MAIL Inbox disappears after a week

I´ve setup my AOL e-mail accounts in Mac MAIL. Receiving and sending mail via my AOL accounts works fine, but incoming mail will stay only for one week in the Incoming mail folder of Mac MAIL. After one weeks it disappears from the Incoming mail folder and it´s not longer available in MAIL at all. (I can only access it throught the AOL software or AOL Communicator themself, where it´s archived.). Sent (AOL) mail on the other side is still available in the Sent folder of MAIL. Is there any way to keep/store the Received AOL mail in Mac MAIL?

    Hi Padua & JWurzak!
I don't know if this will help, but, in your AOL Preferences > Mail: under Automation, do you have the two options below checked?
    Save the mail I read
    Save the mail I send
Also, in AOL Preferences > Filing Cabinet: do you have Automatically delete items in my filing cabinet checked, and Never selected, in the contextual menus below?

iCloud's mail server settings are different from MobileMe's. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.
Snow Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudmail.html
The situation with iCloud and Snow Leopard is described in detail here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudSL.html
iCloud cannot access your AOL account (the MobileMe facility for checking external POP accounts does not exist in iCloud) - you will have to do this in the Mail application in the usual way. You could of course set up forwarding from your AOL account to iCloud (assuming they provide this facility) but you will not be able to reply using iCloud's SMTP server with anything other than the iCloud address as the 'From' address.

  • AOL My eAddress e-mail to Mac.mail

    Hello,
I have AOL My eAddress e-mail. I would like to know what the AOL servers are to set it up w/.mac
    Please help.
    Thank you,
    James

AOL does support the use of alternative clients like OS X Mail to access mailbox content using IMAP technology. If that is what you want to do, as opposed to forwarding AIM Mail or AOL mail to a .Mac account, then you can create a Mail account using this information:
    In the Account Information pane:
    Account Type: IMAP
Description: <whatever you want to call it>
    Email Address: <[email protected]>
    Full Name: <Your Name>
    Incoming Mail Server: imap.aol.com
    User Name: <your username>*
    Password: <your password>
In the Servers Settings supplemental dialog box:
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.aol.com
    Server port: 993
√ Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
Authentication: Password [from the drop-down menu]
    User Name: <your username>*
    Password: <your password>
Your User Name is that portion of your AOL electronic mail address to the left of the @ symbol and the domain name.

  • Forwarding AOL, Yahoo Mail to Mail APP

Hello. I have been trying to just use one application to send and receive mail and Mail on my mac seems to be the best. I have AOL and Yahoo accounts and I just want everything forwarded to Mail. I downloaded this program called Mail Forward, but I can't seem to figure it out. Something about SMTP and everything I enter doesn't work. Can someone help me out? This is really frustrating even though I'm sure it's easy it's just I'm missing something simple. Thanks.

If your Yahoo email account is a free account, Yahoo prevents accessing a free account with any email client such as the Mail.app. A free Yahoo account is webmail based only which requires using a browser. If you have a Yahoo Mail Plus or paid account ($20/yr), you can access it with the Mail.app and the required account settings for a Yahoo Mail plus account are available via Yahoo's website.
The required account information to create and access your AOL account with the Mail.app or with any email client such as the Mail.app is as follows:
    Account Type: IMAP
    Incoming Mail Server: imap.aol.com
User Name: The portion of your AOL email address in front of the @ sign only.
    Password: The account's password.
Outgoing or SMTP Mail Server: smtp.aol.com
    Server Port: 587
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Off or not selected.
    Authentication: Password
User Name: The portion of your AOL email address in front of the @ sign only.
Password: The account's password - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.

  • Firefox has stopped forwarding my mail to my Mac Mail.

I had to change my Firefox password lately, so that it does not match my Mac Mail password. Then Firefox stopped forwarding my mail to my Mac Mail box.

Also make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

*You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"

    * Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

  • AOL Desktop for Mac has placed 5 untitled mail windows on the dock.

After installing Lion on my wifes IMAC we downloaded the latest version of AOL Desktop for MAC.  There are now five "untitled" mail windows on the dock.  When attempting to close these AOL Desktop for MAC crashes then displays and error window reporting to apple.  Relauanching AOL Desktop brings these "untitled " mail windows back to the dock. Anyone know how to eliminate these untitled windows?  This is the first of a few bugs that have been caused since the Lion upgrade.  Please I know its AOL but my wife likes the interface.

    Greetings Papahemi;
I too had the same problem.  Here is the solution.
Go to System Preferences and select General.
Near the bottom of the window, deselect (uncheck) "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps."
Launch AOL Desktop, you'll still see the untitled windows.  No problem.  Now quit AOL and relaunch.  No more untitled windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • Having trouble accessing AOL through the mac mail program

Accessing mail from AOL through the Mac mail applicantion has never been a problem.  Now all of a sudden it is.  Software is up to date, tried working with Apple personnel, no luck.  Any suggestions?

When you're in mail, if you click on window, and connection doctor, what does it tell you about your AOL account? If it's a green light status, your Apple mail is able to sign into AOL without issue. If it's red, and you double click on it, it should take you to the part of your profile that needs fixing.

  • AOL mail - how to have our Mac behave as the Dell does?

Hi - we're itching to ditch my partner's Dell desk top, but we're stuck with this problem. We're neither of us technically proficient, so any help would be gratefully received. My partner describes the problem:
On my PC I use AOL's own software (it was already loaded onto my Dell PC when it arrived many many years ago) to receive and send mail. As I have used my AOL address for work ever since email began I don't want to change my email address. (I don't mind having it redirected to a Mac compatible address but I don't want to change the address that everyone uses and has done for years).
I know I can now access my emails online and I know I can get my AOL mail redirected to Mail on my partner's MAC. My problem is that I have 3500 sent emails and 3500 received email archived on my PC hard drive within the AOL software. I want to be able to store and access these archives. They are a vital record of years and years of work correspondence.
Does anyone know how I can transfer that archive - in a usable form - onto my partner's MAC so that I am then able to ditch my old PC?
My idea would be a way of loading AOL onto my partner's MAC exactly as it now looks on my PC and continuing to use it just as I do now, but that seems impossible.
    Thanks in anticipation!!
    Ian

I'm not familiar with any old Windows AOL application, but are you saying that you know for certain that these old mails do not currently exist on AOL's IMAP servers now?
The Mail.app client readily supports AOL IMAP. Is this older mail that you have, viewable/accessible to you if you logon to your AOL mail account from a regular web browser (e.g. Safari) pointed to http://webmail.aol.com? If so, then the older mail is already there and you can just launch Mail.app and create an AOL account. It is pretty much automatic. Launch Mail.app, if you already have another mail account set up, goto File > Add Account, otherwise the new account wizard will launch automatically. The minute you put in "[email protected]" (or [email protected]) as your email address, a checkbox will appear to automatically set up the account. It will be set up as an IMAP account. So, if the older mail that you have is already visible to you in your webmail interface (from a web browser pointed to http://webmail.aol.com), you're done. The AOL IMAP account will be mirrored within Mail.app and whatever is there viewable to you via http://webmail.aol.com will be viewable from within Mail.
If not visible to you via the web interface, can you "unarchive" the mail back into an AOL mail folder from within the Windows AOL program? IF that is treating the AOL account as IMAP and not as a POP account, it would immediately be mirrored on the server, which then would be mirrored on the Mac.

  • Aol mail not working on mac

I am having trouble with my AOL mail on my IMAC. It keeps coming up with the following message.
Cannot send message using the server smtp.aol.com: XXXXXXX
Sending the message content to the server failed.
I have checked the settings and password. I have also deleted and re entered the account. I have sent a test message direct from AOL and it has worked. I have also set up a GMAIL account on mac mail and it has worked. I am stumped on what to do next. Any ideas please.

After exhausting all possibilities regarding this problem I finally spoke to someone at Apple care who solved the problem.
So here is the work around which worked for me.
    Close Mac Mail
Open Finder Window- click on GO menu then press and hold the Option key(alt key)
This will display your User Library. Click on the Library icon
Locate 'Mail' file and drag to desktop,
Locate Preferences file and locate  com.apple.mail.plist. file
    Drag to desktop,
Log out and log back in again-or restart computer,
Open Mac Mail and create new Aol account- or whichever account you use, eg, yahoo or Gmail etc.
Sometimes only deleting the .plist file is not enough, you may need to delete the actual 'Mail' file at the same time.
Moving them to the desktop is a safety net so that if it doesn't work properly after you restart and re-enter your account information at least you have it as back up and you can go back and re-install it and try another method.
This worked perfectly for me. I hope it does for others aswell, because I know how frustrating it is to go through all the forms and keep getting the same answers but no solutions.
    Good Luck...
