Forwarding gmail to icloud @me address

Hi, I have a little problem. I have successfully setup my iCloud on mac with a new @me address which I plan to use as my primary address from now on. Before I have used my gmail address which is included in my apple id as well. I wanted to forward all my gmail incoming mails to the new iCloud email address but when I send a confirmation code to my new iCloud address no message arrived. I have tested my new @me address and it is able to receive emails. Also I tried in gmail to setup another email address as my forwarding address and it worked too. But somehow it doesnt want to work with my @me address in iCloud. As if iCloud was able to recognize that I want to link my gmail to it and it just wont receive an email with the confirmation code. Do you have the same problem or any suggestions of what am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

great, push notifications doesn't work for iCloud mail now either so...great:D

Try this out...  this worked like a charm:
*On a desktop PC, log into your gmail account.
*Click the gear up in the top right corner > Settings
    *Click Accounts
*Under "Change Account Settings", click "Other Goole Account Settings"
    *Along the left, click "Security"
*Under 2-step verification, click "Manage your application specific passwords"
*It will ask for your usual gmail account password and take you to a page that says "
Authorized Access to your Google Account
*You will see a box to type in something (I just typed in iPad) then click "Generate Password"
*It will generate a random password for you...  you will need this password Once in your iPad....
    Now...
*Go to your iPhone Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Add Account>Google
*Type in your name, your usual gmail email address and for the password, type in that random one generated on your PC
It should work from there, if not follow what is below!

  • I created an Apple ID for my daughter with her own gmail address, but I want her Apple ID and primary email address to be an iCloud email address. How can I do this? I can't set up an icould email address for her without first creating an Apple ID?

I have created an Apple ID for my daughter with her own gmail address as the primary email address, but I want her Apple ID and primary email address to be an iCloud email address. How can I do this? I can't set up an icould email address for her without first creating an Apple ID right?
I'm not good with computers so please explain in simple way...:)
I also wonder what the best way is to set up accounts for children in a family. I dont want them to be able to purchase apps etc through the parents accounts, also some things we like to share as a family and others we don't want to share. Is there any good. clear, simple explanation from Apple Support about these issues? Or best to go to Apple store and go to genius bar or one to one advise?
    thanks

You can set up an iCloud account which makes the iCloud email address you choose the Apple ID and thus the login for it:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22283348#22283348
though I have to say I think it's more sensible if the ID is another address, both for security reasons (so people don't know what the login is) and as a contact address from Apple if the account were to stop working and they needed to contact you. So personally I would to to System Preferences, enter the GMail address which is an ID, and then choose a nerw @icloud.com address.
If she has her own iCloud account she will need either her own computer or her own user account on your Mac to be able to make use of it. You should note that under Apple's terms of use Apple IDs are only available to children of 13 and over.
As to purchasing apps, this is nothing to do with iCloud: it's iTunes, and the login can be different. So you can all sign into the same iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts. Or she can have her own iTunes account if she is of suitable age (credit card needed for purchasing apps).
If you have other children you should be aware that any one Mac or device can create only three iCloud accounts - this is tied to the serial number, not the user account, and once reached cannot be bypassed. You can of course sign into an iCloud account created on another device.

  • Why does it take a few minutes for gmail emails to be forwarded to my icloud account on my Mac Book?

Suddenly, my gmail emails which have always been set to automatically forward to my icloud account on my, laptop (especially slow now), and iPad, are now taking several minutes for them to forward.
    Why is this?
I did recently update to Yosemite. Could this be why? I have never had this issue.
    Thanks!

Just to rule out Gmail, I have been having the exact same issue from a private-domain email account.  Like you, I recently upgraded to Yosemite and I'd say the timeframe roughly corresponds to that. I've seen delays of as much as three or four hours, in fact.  Crazy.

  • My wife just purchased an iPhone. She has an Apple ID but it is linked to her gmail address. She wants to create her own iCloud email address but the setup tools don't let us do that.

I have aniCloud account  apple id, linked to a MobileMe address (which I converted to an iCloud account)
My wife just purchased an iPhone. She has her own Apple Id -- but it is linked to a gmail address.
I wanted to create a new iCloud email address and account for her, but the Mail Setup won't let us use .icloud and keeps referring her back to log into the gmail server.
How can we convert her gmail address to an icloud address if Mail Setup refuses to let her use icloud.com?
One other issue: Her iTunes are linked to my account, and my wife would like her own separate account.

Actually, I want her to have a separate iTunes account. Our marriage is fine, but our musical tastes are vastly different  That's another issue; right now want to focus on getting my wife in .icloud email address.

My icloud email address is included in a friend's address group set up in Gmail.  When they send an email to the group, the email never gets through to my icloud address - why?

They've always been able to send to me individually - just not when my email is part of a group or even when it's just included with several other addresses added one at a time.

  • Specific Gmail email address not getting through to iCloud email address

    Hi,
As of this morning I am not receiving emails sent from my wife's Gmail account to my iCloud email address. However, I can receive Gmail sent from my account to my iCloud email.  I can also receive email sent from my wife's gmx email address to my iCloud email address. So the problem seems to be with one specific Gmail address (as far as I am aware).
Any thoughts/help/advice would be much appreciated.

It seems to be a problem between Apple and Gmail mail servers. This issue is reported in many threads here and on google product forums.
Are you getting other emails from Gmail accounts? If not, then call Apple and report this: 800-275-2273
The more people that call, the more they become aware this is a widespread issue. They don't read these boards.

  • How to disable/deactivate/delete iCloud email address

Like most people, I have a number of different e-mail accounts for a variety of different reasons (Yahoo, GMail, iCloud/@me). I'm trying to get it down to just one, where all my personal, work, etc. e-mails can go. Ideally, I would have like to have just my iCloud e-mail (mine is an [email protected] instead of an [email protected]) but since I have found it to be impossible to have an Apple ID that is not associated with an outside e-mail address (currently a GMail account), it seems like I won't get my preference, unless anyone here knows something I don't.
Here's my dilemma. How do I deactivate my iCloud email address? I realize that I could simply stop using it, but I have contacts that I'm not necessarily in consistent contact with, so if they e-mail me, and it doesn't bounce back because the account has been deleted, they'll never know, and I'll never check. Is there anyway to delete/disable/deactivate your iCloud e-mail address so that the account cannot receive e-mails? Like when you delete a GMail account and try to send an e-mail to that address afterwords, you get the mailer-daemon response.

Your GMail ID is simply the login; you can just use your iClour email address. If Apple are using the GMail address as a contact you can enable forwarding from GMail to your iCloud address. You do have an @icloud.com address as well as an @me.com address. However you cannot make either of these your ID/login.
You cannot delete an iCloud account nor the primary address. If you want to abandon it you could set up forwarding from iCloud to whatever address you want to use. Go to http://www.icloud.com  , go to the Mail page and click the cogwheel icon at bottom left. In the first pane which opens there is a section to forward mail.

  • Gmail and iCloud calendars seem incompatible

I am experiencing two issues with calendars on my new iPad (3rd gen) related to GMail. I have spoken with Level 2 support (so far, no luck in solving this problem), and have scoured these support pages ... several possible solutions do not appear to be working. So alas, I'll ask the question and hope for some insights.
ISSUE 1: Cannot add invitees when creating calendar entries on a Google Calendar
On my iPad, I have 3 calendars set up ... default iCloud calendar + two Google calendars. All three synch perfectly between my iPad and other devices. However, if I create a new event on my iPad, there is no option to add invitees to an event created on my Google calendars ... neither my primary calendar or the secondary calendar I share with my family. I can, however, add invitees to a new event created with my iCloud calendar. However, there seems to be an issue with this as well....
ISSUE 2: Invitations from iCloud calendar are not sending
Again, from my iPad, when I add any user's email address to receive invitations from my iCloud calendar, the invites do not appear to be going out.... at least not to any of my email addresses or my wife's email address. When I attempt to send an invite to my Gmail account, my name simply disappears after a few seconds (my gmail account is my iCloud account / Apple ID). When I send an invite to my office email address, the name does not disappear, but I receive no invitation at work.  So basically, I can't send invites from my iPad.... period.
    A few facts...
My Gmail email address is my Apple ID.
Many of my friends' and colleagues' email addresses are either their Apple ID's or alternative email addresses (I saw several posts about "bugs" with iCloud relating to auto-forwarding of calendar invites to iCloud for addresses that are associated with Apple IDs).
I have turned OFF the default setting in iCloud calendar to automatically forward invites to my iCloud calendar (pursuant to another post on this subject)
I used to use a different email address (Yahoo) for my Apple ID. At that time, I could send invitations using my Google calendar with no issues. This problem only started to occur when I switched my Apple ID to my Gmail account, which I prefer as it enables seamless synching of contacts.
I am all ears ... willing to try almost anything. Help is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    - David

Why do you need them in iCloud? You can use Google as the point of sync instead on all your devices.

  • Sync-ing gmail through iCloud

I want to sync my mail through iCloud, including my gmail.  Is this possible?  Ultimate goal is to manage email from both my iphone and macbook and have them sync with each other.  That's not happening now.

Only Apple's email accounts work through iCloud.  You could always forward gmail mail to the apple account, but there are certain disadvantages, such as using the gmail return address instread of an apple address when replying.
Think of icloud email as an independent provider like gmail and all others.  That's why the email client app on a device or a computer can be set up to access emails from multiple sources.  When using the email client, you see all your emails together - why the need to route everything through one provider?  (Unless you are trying to use email via a browser.)

  • The email address used to Sign into my icloud is no longer active, this is different than my apple id email address though. How can I change my icloud email address to my current apple id email address

When I received my iphone 4s 3 years ago the my apple id and icloud email addresses were the same, it was a student email from the college I attended. This account is no longer active, but when I changed my apple id email address to a current email (gmail account) the icloud address didn't change over. I now have no ability to sign into icloud on my phone and icloud hasn't been updated in nearly a year. I wanted to figure out this problem before I upgraded to the Iphone 6 this December. Is there any way this is possible?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You should still be able to use your college email address, just log in with your details.

  • How can I change my primary Apple ID email to my new iCloud @me address?

I just updated to iOS 5 on my iPod touch and signed up for iCloud. I have a new @me email address. I want to make it the primary email address for my Apple ID, but when I type it into the "Apple ID and Primary Email Address" field, it tells me that I cannot use a MobileMe account for my Apple ID. It is not a MobileMe account, and I have never had MobileMe. I know that the email works with my Apple ID, since I can log into my account with it. How can I make it the primary email address?

While you can't currently change your Apple ID to a Mobile/iCloud email address, I found a solution that helps with a related problem.
Suppose you've recently got an iCloud email address, but Apple are still sending all your iTunes Store, App Store and Mac App Store receipts to your old gmail address (the one that's still your Apple ID). And suppose they're also sending all the Apple Support Communities notifcation emails to your old gmail address. How do you change it? How do you fix it?
Well the option exists, but it is hidden away in a weird place. To get Apple sending all of their receipts and notifications to your new iCloud email address...
    • Go to your country's Apple Store website http://store.apple.com/
    • Click on the Account button in the top-right corner
    • Under Account Settings, click on Change your default shipping or billing info
    • Sign in with your usual Apple ID and password
    • The email address listed under Payment Information is the key
    • Click on Edit next to Payment Information and change that email address to your iCloud address
That's all you have to do.

  • Is there a way to change the icloud email address associated with your Apple ID?

I had an Apple ID long before iCloud came around.  Naturally, my username was my email address, let's say [email protected]  I signed up for an @me email address when they started just to try it out, but never used it.  Either by default or by my own decision, my @me account became the same as my old email address: [email protected]  Later, Apple issued the @icloud email addresses, so I now have: [email protected] as well.  I want to set up a different icloud address, one that I would actually use, let's say [email protected]  Then, I would like to associate that address with my Apple ID and delete the oldaddress@icloud address altogether.  Can I do this and if so how?
    Thanks for the advice.

Since your Apple ID is already associated with the current iCloud account (and the account cannot be delete, it can only be abandoned), you can't use it to create another.  You would need to create a new Apple ID with a new non-Apple email address to create a new iCloud account.  You can still use your current ID for everything else; the iCloud ID does not need to be the same as the ID you use for other services (iTunes, etc.).
You would then have to migrate your iCloud data to the new account and turn on your iCloud data syncing.  When you turn Mail to On, you can create your new @icloud email address (but type carefully since once created it cannot be changed).  You @me iCloud email address would remain associated with the iCloud account you are leaving but it sounds like you don't want to use it anyway.  You can set up email forwarding to forwared email sent to your @me address to your new @icloud address while your contacts transition to your new address.
If that sounds like something you want to do, I can give you the steps to migrate your data to the new account.
