Foscam with Westell router 7500

Hi All,
I have Foscam security cam and westell 7500 router.
My cam is working fine in intranet but not with internet.
I have everything setup on dyndsn.org site and in camera configuration.
Seems like i missing something in port forwarding( I did it but not working for me) or something else.
If any one can help on this.

What ports does the camera use, and can you provide a Screenshot of your port forwarding entries for us to see?

  • Port Forwarding Issues with Westell a 7500

I'm having troubles getting port forwarding to work on my Westell 7500 router.  I have used the instructions provided at http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/Troubleshooting/PortForwarding/123866....
Having set up my own port forward I had my aplication test the port and I was told it was closed.  Then I went to a third party web based port testing site (http://www.canyouseeme.org/) to confirm that the port was indeed closed and not just a problem with my aplication.  The site told me that the port was closed.
So I decided to try one of the pre-created port forwards included with the modem.  Using the port number provided I changed the port my aplication used and it still self-tested as closed.  I then went back to canyouseeme and it too told me that the port was closed.
    I should also note that in the "Port Forwarding" screen on the router the delete icon (I'm assuming that is what it is - the icon has a red X through it) does not respond to being clicked on.  When I hover the mouse over the icon I get the following text overlay in the bottom left corner of the Chrome browser window - javascript:deleteEntryStart(5,document.TableMgr,0);
To sum up, neither a personal nor a pre-fab port forward show in tests to be working and a function also appears to be not working.
Here's the rub - I am told by tech support that this is an L3 issue.  L3 issues are not covered under regular tech support and are very expensive buy.  My gut feeling is that the router is defective, but I need some way to confirm this before I start making a stink with customer service.  I don't want to spend $39.00 to be told my router is broken before I can send it in and I have a feeling that customer service is going to want to have solid evidence that the problem is not pilot error before ponying up for a replacement modem.
Does anyone have any suggestions for testing the router more thouroughly?  Is this a known issue?  Or does anyone have any suggestions about programming the port forward?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to address this!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If I am not mistaken, the firewall in the router must be at least low.
Otherwise, it will ignore all rules  (or something along that line).

  • Can anyone here with a Westell DSL 7500 modem tell me its polarity?

I have a Westell DSL 7500 modem but I lost the power adapter.  I have found a spare power adapter laying around with the same voltage but the polarity of the modem is not shown.  I was wondering if maybe if the polarity was printed on the adapter and some could tell me what it is( positive outside/negative inside or negative outside/positive inside)... Thanks

    #1 Did you call Verizon?
#2 If so, what did they say about it?

  • Westell Model 7500, does it have wireless capability?

I recently got Verizon High Speed DSL which came with the Westell Model 7500 DSL Modem/ Router. I am using a wired connection, but I noticed there is a flashing Wireless light on the top of the modem.
Does this modem have wireless capabiltiy on it's own? I tried to use my laptop to discover a connection and was unable to.
If so, how does one password protect this connection? I do not want my neighbors stealing my bandwidth. I would also like to be able to use the wireless functionality if this modem is indeed wireless capable.
Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Yes, it appears to have wireless.
#1 Log-in to the modem combo.
#2 Go look for Wirelesss Settings.
#3 As need be, show a screen shot from the router's screen(s).

  • Verizon and their lack of Westell Router Support

I'll turning to the community today because my attempts to get support from Verizon have proven fruitless.
I called Verizon technical support with a VERY specific question about how my DHCP service works on their CPE router.  I have read the Westell router user guide cover to cover, attempted to use the graphical interface, and attempted to understand the configuration file syntax.  The Verizon tech, who was very polite, after an hour on the phone trying to find me any documentation, gave me the Westell customer service line: 888-839-5791 knowing full well that I would be asked for my Verizon employee ID as soon as a tech picked up the call.  When I called on another line and asked him to wait with me so he could give Westell his ID, his supervisor in the background told him to get off the call immediately.  Amazing..
My question is VERY simple.  In my home I have devices which require the use of an internal TFTP server to boot.  These devices get the TFTP server's address through DHCP option 150 (standard TFTP Servers option). This is a VERY common thing in the VoIP world. In my Westell A90-9100-EM15-10 router there is no place in the GUI I could find to put in additional DHCP options besides the stand gateway, DNS server, etc.  I did not want to stop using the DHCP service on Verizon's device because they have DHCP option 60 set to enforce quality of service for my FIOS TV STBs.  I'm trying not to screw up my Verizon TV service and at the same time do something VERY standard in my home.  I have attempted a couple different syntax in the route configuration file without success.
If you are a Westell employee.. shame on you for your horrible lack of documentation for your product.
If you are a Verizon employee... shame on you for willfully taking a customer who knew your CPE equipment better than you did and purposely sending them to 1-800-WE-DONT-CARE-ABOUT-YOU.
If you are someone who understands the Westell router config file syntax enough to let me know what to do.. Please respond..
Under the dhcps section I've tried:
    (option150
     (0
       (start_ip(192.168.0.12))
       (end_ip(192.168.0.12))
    and
    (option150
     (0
       (192.168.0.12)
both of which load fine.. but the DHCP response does not contain option 150.
    Thanks,
    John

So I'll let Verizon off the hook sorta.. They did send me two private messages and did ask Westell how to add DHCP options.
Westell said that I would have to purchase a higher end router to make that work.  Sha..right.  The whole point was to try and use the Westell so Verizon would feel comfortable supporing my FIOS STBs.  I guess Verizon looses on that one.  If I was going to buy a higher end router, Westell is deaming to think it would come from them.
I moved my DHCP and DNS to a server in my home.  I'm back to being in control of the network.  I have the QoS setup with an address range for the STBs .. Oh well.  I just love the 'can't be done' response.
Westell = Won't tell.  Steal from tech from the opensource world and close off your customers.
    Thanks everyone.. I'm punting...

  • Westell Router wireless needs to be extended

I have a Westell 9100EM wireless router connected to Fios as my main router.  I have a 2 story house with the router located in the upper floor.  I'm losing signal on the first floor and want to extend (set up a repeater) the signal to the first floor.  I have a hardwired network connection where I would like to set up the repeater.  I have an issue that needs to be considered.  I am installing IP cameras and need to be able to port forward the wireless connection from both routers.  I have 2 cameras set up and port forwarding but the signal strength is bad.  I have a second router on the first floor but it is bridged.
Do I need a separate piece of equipment?  I have a Linksys and Apple Time Capsule wireless routers not being used.
How would I set up the second wireless extender so that it will work the port forwarding through the first router?

Configure the second router as a different subnet to the Westell, e.g. 192.168.2  Give the second router a static address on the Westell subenet (192.168.1), e.g. 192.168.1.254
Connect a LAN port on the Westell to the WAN port of the second router.  Build a a port forward rule on the Westell to port forward traffic for port for your device to the wan address of the second router (192.168.1.254) and a port forward rule on the second router to port forward the port traffic for the device to the IP address of the device.

  • Loss of connection with Belkin router

I have been using a Belkin N450DB router with my Westell modem for over 2 months. Everything was fine until 4 days ago when my router lost connection. I have tried the self heal with the router and the troubleshooting with the modem. I currently have internet with just the modem hooked up but have lost connection 3-4 times this way over the past 4 days. I have no connection with the router connected now. It says wire unplugged. I was thinking it was the router but have found out another DSL customer in my town has the exact same issue and he has a different router.  Did Verison reset some security programs that won't allow my router to connect or is Verison DSL having issues we are not aware of in Greenwood, DE?  It is just strange that two residences are experiencing the same issues in different areas.

#1 What is the model of that Westell modem?

are you saying that the router says that or are you saying your OS (and Version - for example Windows XP) is saying that?

  • QuickVPN connecting to RV180W behind Verizon FIOS Westell router?

I have Verizon FIOS service which has coax from their ONT to my primary (Verizon) router, a Westell 9100EM.  I have my own secondary router, a Cisco RV180W, connected to a LAN port on the Westell.  The Westell acquires the public IP via DHCP and its subnet is 192.168.1.x.  The Cisco router has a static IP assignment and then serves as the gateway for its own subnet 192.168.130.x.  Devices connecting to either LAN have full internet access.
I would like to establish a VPN connection from remote locations to the Cisco RV180W.  I have been trying to accomplish this using QuickVPN which is installed on my laptop (and which I can use to successfully connect to a different Cisco router on an entirely different network – meaning the laptop itself is not somehow blocking QuickVPN).
I have been trying to establish the QuickVPN connection to the RV180W for the last several days, without success (trying to forward ports from Verizon router to Cisco router).  I finally spoke to Cisco telephone support yesterday and they told me it will never work if the RV180W has a non-routable IP address assigned to its WAN interface / is double-NAT'd (which is the case in my setup).  So question #1:  is this true or is there some way to work around this limitation, given my setup / Westell router?
Question #2:  is there another VPN client software (like for example Shrewsoft VPN Client) that WILL be able to connect to the RV180W, given my current configuration?
Question #3:  If #1 or #2 don't have easy answers … how can I change my configuration to enable the RV180W to support QuickVPN?  I also spoke to Verizon about potentially bridging their router.  They tell me they don't support this so I'm on my own in terms of trying it – and depending on what I do it may negatively impact some of my FIOS services (on the TVs).  But if anyone has done this I would love to hear about it!  I'm also wondering if putting the RV180W into the Westell's DMZ would help anything?
I initially set things up as they are because I didn't really trust whatever router Verizon might install and didn't want my home network connected to its LAN.  I still feel that way, and believe my current setup offers better security for my own devices.  But nevertheless I need VPN access to my LAN so I need to do something!  And am open for any suggestions!
    Thanks in advance …
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
question #1 In case of double-NAT very often Quick VPN cannot establish a connection. This can be due to:
-firewall, antivirus settings of the PC
    -Windows OS of the PC
-correct port forwarding of all necessary ports
-IPsec pass-through support on the device infront of the router.
Regarding the PC part -Quick VPN is really simple software, which uses the IPsec services of Windows. If you tested recently the Quick VPN connection from this PC and it works, we can assume Windows is just fine
Regarding the Port forwarding part, the needed ports to be forwarded to RV180 are
UDP 500, UDP 4500, TCP 443 and ESP (or the option IPsec pass-through to be enabled)
Putting RV180 in the DMZ zone is a good idea. DMZ zone will allow all ports to be open for RV180W, so you can be sure that traffic is not filtered. As RV180 has a firewall as well, your LAN will be not exposed to risk
Question #2: Shrew VPN is working fine with RV180. It does not rely on Windows services, so it is more likely to work than Quick VPN. It requires the same port forwarding rules, or RV180 in the DMZ zone. Though it requires more time to configure, as a stable client, I like it more than Quick VPN. Attached is configuration instructions
Question #3: Quick VPN requires only a user to be configured on the router and remote management to be activated on port 443. Nothing else can be done.
If you want to dig into as why Quick VPN is not connecting, I would advise to use Wireshark. You can install it and start it on the PC with Quick VPN and capture packets when starting the VPN client.
ISAKMP (you need to type the word in the filter menu) packets show the negotiation process. Once it is established you have to see only ESP (you need to type the word in the filter menu) packets sent to the public IP, that you are using for connection. If you don't see any ESP packets that's mean your PC is filtering it.
From the menu of RV180 Administration - Diagnostic - Capture Packets, click on Packet trace on the WAN port and after that start the quick VPN. Once it shows the error you may stop the capturing. You can open the file with Wireshark again. This option capture all traffic arriving on the WAN port and it will allow you to see if something is filtered by the router in front.
Usually the providers devices are stopping ESP packets. So in the filter menu type ESP and see if there is any packets.
    Hope it can help!

    Kremena

  • Flaky VOIP with Westell 9100em

After adding FiOS TV last week my voip started flaking out, working sometimes, then not.  I've moved my voip box to the DMZ of the router without any change of behavior.  I can receive calls, but as soon as I do I cannot dial out for a while.
After chatting with my voip provider they said the Westell 9100em is the problem and SPI is getting in the way.  I tend to agree with that diagnosis but do not know how to fix it.  I don't know a lot about SPI, but it's frustrating the the DMZ isn't really wide open to the world.
I tried some Advanced Filtering rules to disable SPI without luck.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.  I really like my voip provider but I'm unwilling to put their box in front of the Westell router.

You did setup a static IP that is outside of the DHCP range of the router:

  • Westell router - help needed

Hi, hope someone can help me with this westell router problem.
I have A90-750115 Vesalink router.  My cable company set me with a static IP address. They told me to set my router to pull
static IP instead of dynamic IP from the modem. but the problem is I do nto know how to set the static IP on the router.
I checked online manual, but either I don't understand or it was not stated in the manual.
anyone knows how to set the static ip address on this router? or similar router in Vesalink line?
    thanks

#1 I take it you have all of the settings, not just the Static IP.
Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Servers.
#2 If not, you need to get that first,
#3 I take it your cable modem is connected to the Uplink / E1 port of this Westell.
    Source: http://www.westell.com/images/extranets/pdf/VersaLink_7500_User_Guide.pdf
on page 9 out of 186 pages.
#4 And I take it, you did not change the LAN IP of the Westell
#5 Go to 192.168.1.1 and log-in as need be to this Westell.
#6 If prompted to change the Default Password (page 32 to 34 out of 186 pages), do so.
#7 In the router go to Network Connections -> Versa Port.
#8 With Ethernet WAN Uplink Selected, change the connection type to Routed IP Address.
#9 Where it says, tunneling say disable.
#10 Then the next two option are:
    a) Enable DHCP Client
    OR to
    b) Disable DHCP Client.
    #11 Select Disable DHCP Client.
#12 Then enter in the Correct settings that you were given.
    #13 Click on Apply

  • TRYING TO SET UP I PAD TO HP AIR PRINTER HAD PROBLEMS WITH ,TALKTALK ROUTER, ASKED AT PC WORLD ADVISED TO BY AIRPORT EXPRESS BUT STILL NO LUCK WILL NOT COMPLETE SET UP. THOUGHT THIS WOULD REPLACE THE ROUTER, I THINK I MAY HAVE BEEN WRONGLY ADVISED

Having problems with air printer to i pad, problem seems to lie with talktalk router, hp solutions managed to get i mac to air printer working but not i pad, adivsed to buy another router as talktalk is not compatiable with bonjour. Went to PC world apple department advised to by airport express. tried setting it up using but will not finalise. i was led to believe this would replace the talktalk router? i feel i have been sold the wrong thing. Any suggestions

This happened to me when I was setting up the wireless router for a friend.  The issue is with the Westall modem.  You need to go in and setup the "bridge" option on the westell modem.  The link below gives directions or you can call bellsouth dsl support (this is how I learned about it).
    http://help.bellsouth.net/bellsouth/asp/contentview.asp?isbrowse=true&sprt_cid=3f993409%2Ddff7%2D422...
    Good luck
    Solution:
    Method 1 - Hard Reset
Restore the modem to default settings by pressing the Reset button on the back of the modem and holding it for 3 seconds. (Bridged mode is the default setting for the Westell).
After the modem regains sync, it is in Bridged mode. Do not attempt to surf into the modem as surfing into the modem will enable the Easy Login page and convert the modem from bridged mode to a PPP mode.
    Method 2 – Bridged Mode
Access the Westell interface using http://192.168.1.254 or http://launchmodem.
Click on the Broadband DSL Line button.
    Click on the Protocols button
Select the radio button to the left of Option 2 (Bridge)
Click the save button. Once the modem has restarted it is in bridge mode.

  • Need Help with Linksys router broadband-b

I have a Linksys wireless-B broadband router for some reason it just went crazy on me. My wireless card is a wireless - G . Now when i had Verizon DSL  i  got this router and a USB  wireless adaptor from verizon. I had the usb adaptor on my wife computer and the router and modem  on my notebook for six months we had there dsl service until we moved  to a nother city. Once we  had all of our service's transfered  to the new home  we could not get verizon DSL there.
So for a nother six months we had to use  dial up and being that we run a home business dial up was just not up to the task. Well we got rid of dish network  just to get cable T.V. just to get the cable broadband service. That's when i got a wireless card for my notebook anyway  for six months the network was working  just fine with the router and my wireless card.
Until  Sept  this year just a few weeks ago the router started going crazy. Before my note book was config for windows to connect  linksys was connecting  and i would see all conection in the site survey,  and my own network  also. Until a few weeks a go  my network would not show .
So i call linksys the have me download   some up dated firmware that would not install on my notebook or my wife computer after being on the phone for hours with linksys they come to tell me that  the router is ok and working alright after all the test   and steps they took me through with the router. Linksys tells me that there is something wrong with my PCM slot  on my notebook or either  my linksys wireless card. Ok  First of all i can pick up signal  on other networks  and go on line like the Hilton  Hotel  when i go in there parking lot, Second  i can pick up othr networks and get on line that are not secured  sometimes  so this tells me that there is Nothing wrong with my PCMI slot or the wireless card.
Now i took my router across the street to a friend house and guess what he gets a signal  off the router with his notebook  but i can not and when we plug the router in the AC outlet  the internet light was flashing like crazy and my wireless card was not even in my notebook so that tells me that someone close was pulling signal off my router  but i cant.
Can someone please explain this to me  i want to get another router wireless - G this time but if there is something that can be done to get this one working like it should that would really help.
The Notebook has been checked out and config  and that works well when i hook the either net plug in from the modem  the  router was config as well but i just can't get a connected to the router when i use the wireless card.

Yes press and hold the reset button in back for 30 seconds and release.  Wait 10 seconds and power cycle the router.  Now connect to 192.168.1.1 username blank, password 'admin'.  Now try.

In my frustration , amongst lots of open web pages tutorials and other useless information , I come across innocent looking link and software to installed called Genieo , which suppose to help with any router .
Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer
Any help is welcome , English is my learned language , you may notice this , so I'm not that quick with the respond

Genieo definitely doesn't help with your router. It's just adware, and has no benefit to you at all. They scammed you so that they could display their ads on your computer.
    To remove it, see:
    http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-genieo/
Do not use the Genieo uninstaller!

It's in your Keychain on the computer you usually use to connect to your network - the "kind" will be "AirPort Network Password".
Your Keychain can be opened by using the Keychain Access program. It is in your Utilities Folder.
Open Keychain Access, and type airport in the search field. You will see a number of entries. Choose the one with the name of your wireless network, open it, and check the box next to "show password". Before it reveals itself you will be asked for your login password - the one you use to log in to your MacBook.
The network password will appear in the box.
    Quit Keychain Access.
