Found a good armband?

Anyone found a good armband for the Nano?
How about the Incase?

The Apple armband has worked extremely well for me. The nano fits very snugly into the open slot, and it would be very difficult (and require a lot of effort) for it to fall out. In addition, the armband does not slide up and down the arm if you adjust the strap properly. I highly recommend picking one up from either an Apple retail store or online.

  • Anyone here found a good replacement for Version Cue?

First, yes I realize this is a Photoshop forum. :-P I also posted this in the Version Cue section, but that forum hasn't seen any action in a month so I thought I'd pop on over here too. I'm assuming there are a few Photoshop users in here that use some kind of file management software.
At my company we decided a while back we'd set up Version Cue, and of course it got put off. Today I learned Version Cue is getting ditched, and isn't even included in CS5. (http://www.adobe.com/products/versioncue/)
So,  I'm wondering if any of you have moved on and found a good alternative  option. Version Cue has some very useful things to offer, in theory if  not in practice, so it would be great if there is something out there  that can accomplish the same things. If it's relevant, we use both Windows and Mac here at work.
I've never used a digital assets manager so am open to ideas. I'm assuming that we'd want:
    • Versioning of documents (to roll-back to previous versions)
    • File storage
    • Sharing (perhaps a check-in, check-out system)
    • Commenting ability would be a bonus
    • Multiple users with variable permissions
    • Compatibility with Adobe Drive (allowing access to behind the scenes Adobe data)
Anyone had any success, have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Any one found any good templates to use with BC?

    Hey all,
just wondering if anyone has found some good templates I can use for ecommerce sites
    Thanks,
    Dan

BC is a relativly unique CMS and the type of template depends on your skil levels with the system and HTML, CSS, Javascript etc.
http://www.tribevita.com/ is a great source for ready to go made BC templates.
BC itself has some pre-made templates when you make an account you can choose from. The latest ones offfer more features but are a little more complex compared to the older ones using things like jQuery for fading banners etc.
You can obtain any sort of stand alone HTML only template from a number of sites such as Template Monster which you can then work to transition into BC converting them into templates, replacing elements with web apps, modules and content holders etc. This of course requires people to have  good to high knowledge of BC and HTML, CSS.... etc.

  • Anyone Using Navigon GPS found a Good Window Mount?

I think I've decided on Navigon rather than TomTom, but I have not as yet found a window mount, other than TomTom's, that has a built in GPS booster, can charge the iPhone, and route voice prompts through your stereo speakers.
Anyone using Navigon...Have you found a good window mount with the features as noted above? Apple Canada does not stock the TomTom mount. :o(
    Thank you for your help.

You can get the TomTom car kit from the TomTom store when it's available: http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=1019&Lid=4&Category=2

  • Has anyone found a good contact management program...

I find the fields in the Nokia contact manger very limited. I have used Act 2000 for years and found it to have excellent contact management, in that you can create groupings for contacts. Outlook by comparison is only half cooked.
There are excellent programms that link AC to PDA's , Companionlink is one such programme and converts all the detail you want and gives you a clever search choine, by contact name or by company name.

Have a look at > Google Earth for OS X, good selection of features and great to print from.

  • Thought I'd finally found a good media phone with ...

Have been looking for a phone / media device for quite a while now that ...
    1. Would sync with my PIM of choice - Lotus Organizer
    2. Would allow me to keep my diary with me (on my phone)
Thought I'd finally found it in the guise of the N95 8Gb. Brilliant little phone BUT discovered a fly in
the ointment... the appointment entries are limited to only 160 chars !!!
Why. That's pathetic in this day & age. A phone that has 8Gb of storage & they limit the phone
memory with restrictions like this. Looked at a Blackberry & guess what - doesn't seem to be any
limitation on the size of a calendar entry - BUT it doesn't sync with Lotus Organize.
Tried a Windows Mobile device but I absolutely hate Pocket Outlook the worse designed PIM (for
displaying weekview & events) ever ! Needless to say MS Outlook is the same. Plus the fact I'm
not impressed with Windows Mobile at all - just not finger frendly.
Anyway I'm digressing. What I wanted to ask is... is there a Nokia phone out there that will ...
    1. sync with Lotus Organizer
    2. allow me to store long diary entries (min of 256 chars) but really these days that restriction
should have been lifted. 512 or 1024 chars would be acceptable.
    3. will display the full text of my diary entry (and in the order I have entered them - not
alphabetisied as P.Outlook does) N95 did this - well mostly - it displays 4 lines at least
    4. has a reasonable camera / flash (3 - 4 MP ok for me)
    5. has a decent amout of storage for music / video (8Gb was good Also loved the ext. speakers
    on the N95).
    6. is 3G capable for web browsing
    7. has GPS
    Thanks for any help here.

    Hi StewM
I've managed to sort it now took about 5 try's very confusing web site, but eventually got there. Thanks

  • Found a good cursor/icon editor plug-in for Photoshop

I've been trying to edit cursors and icons, and Photoshop doesn't natively support .ico or .cur file formats.  After being disappointed with the available stand-alone cursor editor programs, I began searching for Photoshop plug-ins.
The best plug-in I found is ICO (Windows Icon) file format plugin for Photoshop, from Australia.
I had to research setting the icon "hot spot" in order to have the hot spot at other than the upper left corner of the icon.  This involves resetting the ruler origin.  You need to have the rulers visible, and displaying in pixel units (right click in cursor and select pixel units).
Drag diagonally from the upper left corner of the rulers to where you want the new origin (0,0) to be. photoshop tutorial- Rulers, Measure tool, Guides, & Grids.I
I used this new-found tool in CS5 to make a new Windows aero cursor with a transparent yellow circle around the cursor arrow (in order to be able to easily find the cursor location anywhere on my screen), and the tip of the arrow is the hot spot.

If you have a 64 bit version of windows, there is no more TWAIN in PSE 13, only in the 32-bit version and the mac version.

  • VERY basic question but I haven't found a good example...

I've been trying to figure out how to make one big project using class files to break the big project down into several small projects. I can't seem to find a good explanation of how to make one class file recognize another.
Hell, I'll even throw in a Duke Dollar because I know this should be totally obvious to me...

Hi. Well yes this is quite simple, but we all have our problems :) Breaking down a program into classes is very good for security reasons and productivity. All that you should do is take all of your MAJOR "methods" and place them in a class file by itself :
    public class MyMethods
    (your methods)
Then in your MAIN class you just use those class files as objects :
    public class MyMainClass extends MyMethods
    public static void main(String args[])
    MyMethods.MyMethod();
and just keep doing that. Normally in java you have a main class file like the one i just showed u and one or several other class files that contain all of your methods that makes your program run. You just use your class files as objects which is a big thing that Java is about, "object oriented programming", but of course u must extend the class, as I showed. Extending makes everything that you have in that class file , "come" into that file.
Hope that helps, I need that 1 duke dollar :)

  • Found a good tradeoff to integrate SQLite databases

    Hi,
sometimes ago I posted a question about integrating SQLite database in ODI an ODQ. SQLite is commonly used in many tools for PDA and also in many other places (sometimes with a different file extension, but it simple to detect the true content).
This because is a single file db as Access but is free with all can be needed for small but sophisticated apps.
I received a post about duplicate another technology and customize that. It could a solution if no other solution could work, being time expensive.
I found a better solution: DBconvert for SQLite and MySQL (http://www.dbconvert.com/) . It support:
    - full schema recreation / update on the target (in this case we are interested to go towards MySQL)  with PK FK etc.
    - any number of sessions (named job to run different tasks)
    - run from command line with any external scheduler or with an internal scheduler set from the gui
All this at 79 $, so we could take care of the information business while it makes the loading.
When data are in a MySQL database they will be reachable with all the full supported ODI components for MySQL.
Hope this could be useful to others.
    Thanks

    Just to give an update.
I got a license yesterday (the trial works with a 50 records limit per table, with no expiry) and started to use it.
It uses the windows scheduled tasks to schedule operations and that works very well. In my case (as it can happen to others in enterprises) I needed to schedule the loads by the mean of an external scheduler.
The reason is that in this way we can trigger the file close (no matter how much time it takes to load) instead than the file presence.
So I can demand the load job on the remote pc after the file close on the remote pc generates a trigger on the event console.
I just had to make some think on getting the load working. It is common to get similar problems in such a cases, because the execution context of the workload agent is different from that of the interactive execution. The solution I found is quite simple:
Create a scheduled task on the client pc (on centrally shared depot) to schedule the load.
Then disable the schedule (which does not prevent the manual execution).
Demand the job in the enterprise workload to manually run the scheduled task using the schtasks /Run /TN loadtaskname
    That is all

  • Found a Good Case for my Touch, what about you?

After I bought my iPod touch this morning I went looking for a suitable case for it. I have found that (for me at least) the Case Logic Pockets Medium (http://www.caselogic.com/pocketstrade_150_medium/productdetail/index.cfm?modelid=78908) is excellent for the iPod touch. Even after supposed "touch" cases come on the market I think I'll stick with this one. It is neoprene too. I have photos at http://picasaweb.google.com/russell.silver/IPodTouch to show how the touch fits in it.
What other cases have other new touch owner found that work well?
    Russell

Actually, the slipcase that came with the 5G iPod+video works pretty well.
    And there's always iPod Socks!
Really, though, it almost doesn't need a case. The salesman at the store where I bought mine took his car keys to his to demonstrate-- He tried to scratch the screen, and it was perfectly fine. I mean, he rubbed his keys real hard on the screen, and not a single scratch popped up.
I wouldn't recommend doing this yourself, of course, but just know that the screen is VERY scratch-resistant. If you have to worry about anything, it's the shiny back of the iPod touch!

    - 4 DOES A PROGRAM EXIST THAT DOES ANTI POP UP ADVERTISING AND MALEWARE FIGHTING??
    - 5 I ABSOLUTELY HATE OF THIS HACKING! RUINS MY BELIEF IN APPLE, SAFARI AND INTERNET SAFTEY!! HELP!

The old rule of thumb was to keep 10-12 GB free. Any lower than that and you will start to have trouble. I was very close to that for a long time and never had any complaints. Now, Lion "encourages" 20% free space (on my newer 250 GB drive) so I try to keep it with more than 50 GB free.
Do you still have the original memory in that machine too? The metal plate you have to remove in the battery compartment also provides access to the RAM. Your machine will take 2 GB of RAM, possibly 3. You definitely want to max that out too.
Regardless, you definitely need a new hard drive. When Apple switched to PC components, they had to take a quality hit. These 2.5" notebook hard drives are not very reliable. I'm surprised your hard drive hasn't died by now. I usually get a new hard drive with every major OS upgrade. A $ 50 investment every couple of years is no big deal.
Unfortunately, you (and I) suffer from being an early adopter in 2006. Those 32-bit machines only accept 2 GB RAM (maybe 3) and are only 32-bit so they can't be upgraded to Lion. Because of this limitation, you won't see as dramatic an improvement as you would with a 2007 machine. If you run more than a couple of applications, your hard drive is always going to have to be doing some VM work. My 2006 machine has even lost its bluetooth. I gave it to my brother. My very similar 2007 Macbook is still running great.
So, you must get a new hard drive because your old one is likely on death's door. If you don't have at least 2 GB - get it. If you can't afford a new machine, you might want to consider an SSD. That might help mitigate your RAM limitations. You can spend from $ 100 to $ 350 and get a dramatic speed improvement.
