Found an alternative to skype that looks VERY Prom...

So Ive been looking for an alternative to skype, since its hogging to many system resources.
The Program I found is called "tox" its still in alpha so it doesnt do everything that skype does as of right now, *Screenshare doesnt seem to be a thing* Also not sure about group Video calls.
However It does Voice Calls with ALOT less bandwith and cpu usage, It encrypts everything thats sent and recieved. The only thing I found a little confusing was adding friends *apparently you need to relaunch it at least once after installing it*
Currently This looks Like a perfect Alternative to Skype. Im going to convince my 200 friends on skype to switch over to it. My Suggestion would be use Skype when you want to do large video calls. Or screensharing. And use Tox for everything that its currently capable of doing. *You can get a program like Sparkocam to do screensharing Which is what im going to be doing*
I will Forever Ditch Skype. I invite Everyone to join me, in Saying NO to microsoft that we wont take this load of BS they trying to shove up where the sun dont shine. Maybe they will Fix this thing called skype. This is what Microsoft seems very good at doing. They make crap, Expect everyone to use it. But then an alternative comes out and everyone IMMEDIatly Ditches the microsoft version. *Points to Internet Explorer* As soon as we had an alternative that was as good we all switched did we not?
Only thing Microsoft is good for Is They're Operating systems. Which hopefully they wont screw up.
Good luck to everyone Leaving skype!

Currently it uses more voice bandwith but when manual quality options comes then it will take less bandwith. With Tox at least no one controls my account and admins cannot ban accounts too because Tox is not using any central servers.
Tox are very small too(utox) and consumes ultra low memory.

can I call landlines with this other program? I want to leave Skype because they share everything, encryption wise with the NSA You can't place calls to landlines with Tox. If you're looking for encrypted phone calls using standard phonelines and phones you aren't going to find it since the remote end receiving the call would have to have hardware/software to unencrypt the encrypted audio stream. Picking up the phone with that would be equivalent to you picking up a fax line trying to understand it.

• Speakers that look very nice with aluminum iMac?

I'm looking to purchase speakers for my iMac and I haven't found any that look great and also get good reviews. I'm willing to spend up to about $200 CDN. I have the aluminum iMac. I will be using the speakers mostly to watch TV/video so I don't need it to achieve great bass and such.
Any ideas?

The Apple Stores sells some nice ones.

• Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative to iCal that will interface with the Cloud? I find iCal to be poorly designed and not very efficient.

Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative to iCal that will interface with the Cloud so it works on the iPhone and the Macbook? I find iCal to be poorly designed and not very efficient. I waste a lot of time entering information because you can't go to a specific day and enter information, nor can you navigate between months and add information on a specific date by clicking on the date. You can't easily scroll month-to-month and once you do by scrolling through nine months to get to where you want to be, you cannot enter information by clicking on a specific day in the month and entering information. I just called Apple and they verified that this is the way it works. You cannot go to a date and enter information, you keep getting thrown back to today and then you have to go into the calendar and change it manually on the screen. It is just not efficient.

APC, CyberPower are reliable.
Look for 1500VA. As example:

• I cannot find a photo I did a lot of work to create. I have several library files that look similar but I found that at least one photo is not in both. Can I somehow merge these libraries. Can someone tell me how.

I cannot find a photo I did a lot of work to create. I have several libraries that look similar but I found at least one photo that was in one and not the others. Can someone tell me if I can merge these libraries, and how, and what to watch for that might cause problems.

the paid version of iPhoto library manager can merge libraries safely
Why do you have several libraries? Why are you not just using the one that has what you want?

• I updated my iPad to 7.0.6 but I find the new look very irritating. In mail I can no longer swipe left on a message to erase it. The font in calendar is so small I can't read my appointments. I happen to like the yellow paper that was in notes.

You have to swipe from right to left to delete mail.
In the settings, accessibility you can make fonts bolder, that helps a bit.
THe yellow paper...sorry, no tweak for that unless you find a different notes app to use.

• Can i use my blackberry torch charger to charge my iPod4s? The charger looks very similar to the 5W USB power adaptor that Apple sells to charge the iPod?

can i use my blackberry torch charger to charge my iPod4s? The charger looks very similar to the 5W USB power adaptor that Apple sells to charge the iPod?

Actually, the bb charger is a 5V, 750 mA charger (which would make it a 3.75W charger vs the 5W that Apple sells for the iPod). Therefore, I would think that my bb charger should work for both bb and iPod, but would charge the iPod at a slower rate, with little harm done to the gadget, but I defer to any opinion that would suggest otherwise?

• The Adressbar font looks very unsharp, i tried to edit the size and looked into the options but found nothing. it isnt sharp at all..

As i stated the adressbar looks very unsharp, and i tried to edit it or fix it in anyway, but nothing happens. in 3.6 and chrome it is sharp and i have no problems

Update the video display driver to the latest version.
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox 4.0:
Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Browsing: [ ] "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You can also try to set only the gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled pref to false on the about:config page.

• TV (video) output from new nano looks very good!

Just a comment for those who may be wondering how the video quality on the new iPod nano looks when output to a TV. I have one of the old iPod AV docks with the s-video port and the new nano seems to work fine with that combination (using a standard s-video cable between the dock and the TV). Thus far I'm really impressed with the video quality, I can't see a single problem, the color is good, the quality and sharpness is as good as I've seen from any iTunes Store content, and as far as I can tell the frame rate is fine (no stuttering, skipped frames, or problems with audio sync). I'm amazed that such high quality video can come from such a small device. If it continues to look this good (after viewing more content and after more testing) then I think Apple may have "hit one out of the park." This thing could turn out to be the most popular iPod yet (if you have any interested in video and still want a small device).

I just found out that the video out (TV) on the new nano supports video playlists so you can create playlists for back-to-back display on the TV. Not even the AppleTV will do that (even though the latter has been a highly requested feature for the AppleTV since day one). In fact, if you can do without the on-TV menus you may find that the nano is a better video output device than is the AppleTV (that is, the menus system on the nano doesn't appear on the TV output).
Also, I just competed a few hours of video playback to my big-screen TV from the nano and I'm still impressed. No video problems at all, looks very good considering the quality limitation from the content that is currently on the iTunes Store (limited to standard definition, no HD movies, HD TV, or HD music videos as yet).

• IPhoto 6.0 slide shows looks very distorted

I have a new 19'' widescreen TFT monitor on my mini mac and now my iPhoto 6.0 slide shows looks very distorted.
This widescreen TFT have a 16:9 aspect ratio (1440x900 pixel).
I found no setting in iPhoto for the screen with an 16:9 aspect ratio. There are only format settings for 16:10, iDVD or act monitor. But no one works fine!
Is there any possibility that I can show my "slide shows" in the correct format? (Also with black bars)
Can anyone help me fix this problem?
Thanks in advance

I am experiencing a very similar problem. Michael, have you solved your issue yet?
With my setup (PowerMac Dual G4 533 MHz with an NVIDIA GeForce2 MX graphics card, and Gateway FPD2185W monitor, native display resolution 1680 x 1050), iPhoto slideshows show pictures off center (taking up the right 2/3 of the display and leaving the left blank). The entire picture is also not visible. I'm sure it is switching resolutions when doing the slideshow since when I stop the show, some of my apps are in different positions on the display. I have tried switching stuff in the preferences, as well as trashing my old iPhoto prefs file. Nothing worked.
Thanks in advance for any insights!

• After install Windows 10, the texts in Skype are not very neat, with low definition

After install Windows 10, the texts in Skype are not very neat, with low definition. This has happend just with Skype. Do you know how I can fix it?

I HAVE FOUND A FIX! Searching through the support blogs paid off in a big way. A minor registry edit is all it took and my drive is working like new! Here's the fix. My system is Windows 10 64-bit. Resolution 5: Create a registry subkey
Note To use this method, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If you need help verifying that you are an administrator, go tohttp://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin
Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.
To create the registry subkey, follow these steps:
Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Run box. (or right-click on windows icon in lower left corner)
Type regedit in the Run box, then press Enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi
Right-click atapi, point to New, then click Key.
Type Controller0, and then press Enter.
Right-click Controller0, point to New, and then click DWORD(32-bit) Value .
Type EnumDevice1, and then press Enter.
Right-click EnumDevice1, click Modify....
Type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
Exit Registry Editor.
