Found Bug in PS5 - some linked items don't get moved or rotated together!

Noticed a design flaw in PS5/(99% likely in 5.5, 90% likely in PS6).
If you link layers with together, and on those layers are linked vector masks, then if even  though the layers and masks are all linked together, if you select the "Move Tool", to either move or rotate the entire layer, it will show the mask being rotated, but at the end of it all, the other linked masks will not have been moved or rotated, which is a rather blatent flaw.  The same is true for any other lay manipulation tool -- (distort, free form...etc)....they all fail to observe links between masks in the various laters.
     Worse! -- any underlying bit images don't get moved.
     Now please note, I'm not talking about doing a similar function with the direct-path selection tool, which might yield the current behavior.
Now to be clear -- I'm not talking about editing or moving individual points -- but the whole mask (linked to it's layer, which  is linked to the other layers with masks)...
     If you want to rotate just a mask, using the path-select, tool is the way to go, but having the move tool be broken when a layer is selected and it's mask is showing, is very bad.
     Ideally, (and this isn't a bug but would be an enhancement), the same would work for layers that have copies of other vector masks.  I.e. if you make a copy of a mask (or layer with a mask), and put it elsewhere, then the two masks woudl retain their linkage, so that a change made to one would appear in all linked copies --  including manipulation of individual points or lines in the mask.  It likely wouldn't require any new framework -- as the ability to track each source item included in a picture is kept, though perhaps it's not fully implemented and doesn't actually track the included asset, but only the fact that it was included...(i.e. if later deleted, the piece would still show as being derived from that source: don't know).
     So  why don't  linked vector masks get "adjusted" together by the normal adjustment tools (i.e. excluding changes to the mask's intra connections).

You can't be talking about Photoshop 5.0, can you?  There really was a 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0.
There's a Photoshop CS5, Photoshop CS5.1 (part of CS5.5), and there will be an upcoming Photoshop CS6 (but it's not here yet in any form that I know of)...  Since you claim to know the likelihood of a problem in "PS6", are you just anticipating what will likely be in Photoshop CS6?
But to your reported issue...
In Photoshop CS5 I created a document with multiple fill layers and linked them together...
With just the one Red Heart layer selected, as shown above, I chose the Move Tool, and moved the image.  All Layers moved together...
You say "if you select the "Move Tool", to either move or rotate the entire layer" but I don't know how to rotate things using the Move Tool.  I *DO* know how to rotate things using the Edit - Transform tool, so (with the one layer selected above) I pressed Control-T to start Transform, then rotated the mask by clicking outside the border of the tool and dragging the mouse.
Everything seemed to rotate together just fine...
What am I doing here that's not what you're describing?

  • In some apps I don't get any sound!

    Since the 4.2 update i can't get any sound in some apps. There isn't even any volume available. I get the AirPlay button but I can not change the source.
    Any tips?

    Is the notification mute switch (the old rotation lock) 'on' ? Rotation lock is now a software function on the taskbar in 4.2 and the button now mutes notifications e.g. so that you can watch videos or listen to music without hearing email notifications etc.
    Rotation lock : double-click the home button, slide from the left, and its the button far right; press home again to exit the taskbar; repeat to switch off rotation lock.

  • Some links don't work in 10.6.5

    After upgrading to 10.6.5 I observed that certain links just don't work anymore, f.i. when I click a weblink in my email it should open it automatically in Firefox. Instead nothing happens. I have to manually copy and paste the link into Firefox. Same thing happens within Facebook. It seems as if the system doesn't automatically recognize the browser. Any idea how to fix this? It is annoying!

    I have a similar issue on two completely separate Macs since upgrading them to 10.6.5. After a few hours use, links within some web pages, in Safari, will resolve to very random places. For example I click a news article link on the Yahoo home page, and it takes me repeatedly to a monster.com job listing page. Or if I am in Yahoo mail and I clcik Calendar, it takes me right back to yahoo mail and does not open the calendar page. Totally repeatable once this behaviour starts. Tried using Firefox - same exact bugs occur there once this behavior starts.
    If I run Cocktail and run the daily, weekly, and monthly scripts, the problem gets instantly fixed, for a few hours, then it eventually comes back. Cocktail always fixes it though.
    It appears that some cache, perhaps the whatis or lookup databases, are getting corrupted in 10.6.5, such that links get resolved to the incorrect addresses.
    Happens on my MacPro Quadcore i7 as well as a friends MacBook Pro 17, 2009 unibody. BOth started showing this problem on both firefox and safari after the 10.6.5 update.
    Help!!!!

  • Some links don't work in Safari

    I ran a whole bunch of software updates a while ago (funny, after the entire process, nothing actually updated... I had to run it again later), and somehow, in the process, something went wrong with Safari. Now, some links don't work. It's mostly links in the content portions of webpages. For example, things like the Store/Mac/etc buttons at the top of the Apple site work fine, but things like links in forum signatures don't. I have to open them in a new tab. I tried updating Safari, but it didn't fix anything. I've tested Firefox and Camino and they work fine, but Safari is my browser of choice, so this is pretty irritating. Any ideas as to what's causing this and how to fix it?

    You might try installing a fresh version of SafariStand and see if you still have the problem with dead links. I'm not familiar with the 'Quick Search' feature but you could have a look at Glims. Don't try to run both Glims and SafariStand together.

  • Some links look clickable but don't work - Word 2010 with Acrobat PDF creation

    Windows 7
    Latest Acrobat subscription
    Word - Office home and student 2010
    I can create PDFs via Acrobat and Word on Windows 7,  but after editing the PDF with Acrobat on Mavericks OS X, only in-document links remain clickable. External web hyperlinks, both exposed URLs and blue text with URLs hidden under link text do not work in the PDFs that are edited on MacOS. They look like they work, because in the PDFs the hand cursor appears and you can click the links, but nothing happens in the browser.
    I can't find any troubleshooting information about this.
    My process:
    Word: Options: Advanced - remove check in "use ctrl-click to follow hyperlinks"
    Convert file using the Acrobat tab in the Word ribbon.
    Set compatibility to Acrobat 8
    Create PDF (icon)
    Click Options
    Check "create bookmarks"
    Convert Word Headings to Bookmarks
    Accept defaults, which are:
    Convert document information
    Enable Accessiblity
    Reflow the tagged Adobe PDF.
    The PDF is converted. Links all seem to work as expected.
    Take the PDF to MacOS Mavericks, add pages, optimize, using Acrobat on MacOS.
    Afterward, only some kinds of links in the PDF work.
    This is a new problem that seemed to start when I recently began to use Acrobat's subscription version on Windows instead of FoxIt to convert the Word docs on Windows.
    Q: Is this a known limitation that MacOS Acrobat creates unusable links despite the initial PDF conversion being done on Windows Acrobat?
    Q: Should I do something additional so that external links remain clickable after processing on MacOs?
    Thanks for any clues.

    Thanks for your reply.
    After some experimentation, it seems that the place where *some* links stop working is when I take a PDF file from Windows and optimize it on MacOS with Mac Acrobat Pro. All the links work *except* the kind where the URL is hidden behind blue underlined text. These look like they work but when you click them nothing happens.
    So to fix it, I think I need to optimize the PDFs on Windows Acrobat Pro.
    The MacOs Acrobat Pro, which I paid many hundreds of dollars for is therefore completely useless for documents with this kind of normal hypertext link.
    Also, Windows Acrobat Pro is required in order to ensure that table-of-contents links made in Word (MacOS) continue to work in the PDF. The trick there is to regenerate the TOC on Windows Word before using CreatePDF to convert it.
    I hope someone else benefits from this insight, because I wasted weeks of my life trying to troubleshoot this undocumented problem.

    It may not be a good soloution for a novice, but I have been using hosts files to block unwanted URLs for many years with zero disasters and lots of positive results.
    As I noted, whenever I find a new "bad" site, I simply add the name to my hosts file. It takes a few seconds and then it's gone forever. I find no difficulty whatsoever.
    No, it's not for everyone, which is why I gave no specific details; but for those who are interested and have the desire to learn about these hosts files, it is a very good way to avoid "bad" websites.
    I also enjoy the "clean" view of a webpage when there are no ads showing at all. The page loads faster and  the distractions are gone.
    I never realized how much junk I am supressing until I got my iPad and saw all those horrid ads that are blocked on my other computers.
    Here is a typical result of properly using a hosts file:

    The version you are currently using, Firefox 3.6.13, is the latest version of Firefox for OS X 10.4
    If you are trying to use the Firefox 4 betas, they require at least OS X 10.5. There is a third-party version of Firefox 4 beta that works on OS X 10.4, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/

  • Cannot open links in a website AFL dream team, I can log in and some links open but many don't. All other sites ok that I have tried just this one Please help

    I can login ok and open some links but unable to open links to other pages within site. I have tried a similar fantasy league of supercoach which has a very similar format and all links on that site work ok. Is this a viral thing or computer issue or site issue? I can access the site via other computers and all ok then. Please help

    I saved my driver install file, so I tried reinstalling that, then tried updating to the latest driver for my video card, updating quicktime, uninstalling and installing an older version of quicktime instead, and nothing has worked.  I think I'm back to my little red herring.  So after some googling, it seemed "cineform.cab" was a Sony Vegas thing (so I had it somehow still living in my files from a couple years back), so I got a disc from my friend who'd made me try Vegas in the first place, and reinstalled.  The "cineform.cab" file is back, yet my problem remains.  *headdesk*  So that part is looking busted as to being my problem.
    But I'm back to thinking about that Cineform Neo Scene trial, and it would be a huge coincidence if uninstalling that didn't cause the problem (seeing as I've ruled out almost everything under the sun).  And what Neo Scene does is convert mov files to avi for better playback and editing in Premiere, and it installs something that makes those avi files playable in Windows Media Player.  And I'm getting weirdness in Premiere with mov files and in Windows Media Player with certain avi files.  It *has* to be that that trial unistalled (or installed and didn't remove, but I doubt this since I know all was working smoothly while the trial was still active) something it should not have.  Right?  Or am I just going crazy here?
    I guess it's time to try seeing if Cineform tech support will help me without me buying their product.  Like a list of everything their uninstaller kills would be nice.

  • Why am I getting Run-time menu error (Error 88 occurred at One or more illegal menu item index in...) in my built application (single .exe) , but don't get any error when running/debugging it?

    I am using LabVIEW 6.02 & also downloaded the application builder patch. For my runtime menus, I've a subVI that first calls "Delete Menu Items.vi" to get rid of the standard menu items and then "Insert Menu Items.vi" to add my own. I only get an error when I try to run the built application.

    There was a similar issue in LabVIEW 5.0 where you would get the error if you passed an empty array to the 'items' input of Delete Menu Items. This was corrected in version 5.0.1. Did you mass compile your VI's after upgrading to version 6.0.2?
    I tried to reproduce the problem in a small VI but was not successful. I can run an executable built from this example without any problems. I am attaching it for you to test.

  • Can no longer open two Firefox tabs, have close using Task Bar/Processes. Some links won't activate on websites. As per support suggestion,have backed up profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox and replaced thingsetc

    Can no longer open two Firefox tabs at the same time. Will disappear from screen but won't close - have to go to Task Bar/ Processes to close it, some links won't activate on websites. As suggested in the support area I have gone through the process of backing up my profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox from computer, reinstalled profile in fresh folder, reinstalled firefox 6. I have done this twice for no effect - may work as it used to for a while (30mins) then gets back to its old tricks.
    It is a bit irritating.

    Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
    You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]

    * [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
    * [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
    [http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

  • Issue using the mp:Link item in a plug-in mpcui definition

    Hello,
    I'm developing an OEM plug-in and wanted to use the Link item - <mp:Link label="Click Me" click="{invokeActivity('myPage')}"/> - in my mpcui-defined UI.
    This actually works but it's conflicting with other content on the page. For example, if I define an InfoItem followed by the Link item, the link overlays the label of the InfoItem.
    Here's my code
    <mp:InfoItem label="My Label" value="Some text"/>
    <mp:Link label="Click Me" click="{invokeActivity('myPage')}"/>
    This results in a single line on the page with link label (Click Me) overlayed on top of the InfoItem label (My Label), with the InfoItem text (Some text) to the right.
    [overlayed My Label and Click Me]    Some text
    The mouse pointer turns into a finger pointer and I can click the garbled/overlayed text and it navigates to my page so it works; it's just messed up layout-wise. I don't have any positioning information in either element but normally, if I just use multiple InfoItem elements, they will be arranged vertically down the page. I was expecting the Link element to work the same way but it doesn't seem to for me.
    Has anyone seen this? know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    InfoItem tags can only be used as a child to the InfoDisplay tag.  And InfoDisplay only accepts InfoItem tags as children.  If you are trying to get a link into an InfoDisplay list, this can be done on the InfoItem tag:
                            <mp:InfoItem id="relatedHost" label="{getString('HOSTED_BY')}" value="{model.relatedHost}"
                                imageRenderer="{appModel.renderer('TARGET_TYPE')}"
                                imageDataSource="{model.relatedHostType}"
                                destination="{model.relatedHostLink}"  />
    destination can be an URL string or an Activity (which you have defined in your integration class).

  • Possible to link item type to category?

    Hello,
    I've created some custom item types, and I've got some categories.
    Is it possible to link certain item types to a distinct set of categories?
    So item type 1 can only choose between category A and B, and item type 2 can only choose between category C and D ?
    Thanks,
    Ton

    hi ton,
    this is not possible. the problem is that you can choose category as an attribute for the custom item type. but the configuration of the available categories are done on page group level. the selection is then used for every item that has this attribute.
    regards,
    christian

  • Safari can't open some links

    When I browse the Apple website with Safari, some links don't work (e.g. the feedback pages). The only way to make them work is to turn off java script, but that's not a real solution. With Firefox everything works fine.
    Has anybody else experienced this and found a solution?

    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
    Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then uninstall them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

  • Hi! i'm having a problem with my safari as unnecessary new tabs keeps opening overtime i open some link! is anyone experiencing something like this !

    hi! i'm having a problem with my safari as unnecessary new tabs keeps opening overtime i open some link! is anyone experiencing something like this !

    There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
    You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
    Back up all data before making any changes.
    One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
    If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
    Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
    Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
    In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
    Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
              Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
              Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

    Are there known issues concerning double clicking in FF? We found bug 542068. Most of the issue we found have to do with Flash. Does it affect other applications (JSP/Javascript) too?

    If there is a pattern of the application working up to Firefox 3.6.3 and not working starting with Firefox 3.6.4, there could be a problem with trying to communicate events between firefox.exe (which hosts pages) and plugin-container.exe (which hosts some plugins). You can tweak your settings to force plugins to run in firefox.exe to see whether this is the problem. This article has some background information on that:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_plugins
    ''Do you know if there are problems with Firefox 3.6 when you double click in a JSP/JAVA/Javascript application?''
    No, I don't know. Obviously I can't read every post here, but I haven't read about it before.
    Is it a stupid question to ask: why does that matter?? To fix the application to work in Firefox 3.6 and above, we need to see a page that works on other browsers and fails in Firefox. It doesn't need to be the whole application, just enough to demonstrate the problem so that if we solve it, then you can apply that learning back to your application.
