I found an iPod, 30 GB, I have the serial number, but need help finding the owner.

Take it to the police. They'll try to find the owner, and if they can't in a reasonable amount of time, return it to you.

Is it pass code protected? If not, go to Utilities > Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar, You will see the email addresses set for the iPod. Try emailing the owner at one of those addresses.
If it is locked, try taking the iPod to a place with public wi-fi such as McDonalds. If the owner has set up Find my iPhone on the iPod, they may have tried to track it via that app and may have sent a message that will appear on the iPod if connected to a wi-fi source.

I have already tried following those steps. I went back and tried to follow them again but they did not work. Some of my songs have synced, some have not. And I am still not seeing the Autofill icon on the bottom of the menu or anywhere else. I fear something has been corrupted here and I need to start afresh.

THe instructions I read indicate d I'd receive an email from Find My Iphone App with the unlock code...I never received this message/code. THe screen message says "ipod isdisabled: connect to itunes" I've tried to backup and restore, have tried to wipe it remotely using "find my iphone' and have followed the instructions on apple support to enable...none of these have been successful. Basically the ipod is in locked mode and will not resond. When I tried to restore it using itunes, a message indicating that it could be neither restored nor backed up because it was locked with a passcode...anyone else had this problem and what is the fix? THansk!

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Says "Volume can not be found" when I click my Ipod in Finder.

Apple will not help you find the owner. And there's nothing you can look up or anything like that.
If it's not locked with a passcode and you really want to find who the owner is, go to the e-mail/contacts and see if you can find someone that will tell you who the owner is. If it's locked with a passcode, turn it over to the airline or airport police or local police. FOr all you know there's a 'lost/stolen' report out there just waiting for a matching 'found' report.

I had to redownload itunes and I bought several songs. I want to add them to my old library because I had several cd's that I had uploaded. Umm. If you wiped the hard drive, then all old libraries are gone unless you have them on backup.

Then your iPod is useless. The previous owner should've unlinked the device from their AppleID before passing/selling on the device to you, and you should've checked the device was properly wiped before buying it.

Ipod cannot find my library since I moved it to an external hard drive

Ipod classic 80gb - Windows XP - HP Notebook - ... I recently moved my itunes music folder (which is exclusively music ripped from my CD collection) to an external hard drive. It was taking up too much space on the C drive. I sorted it all into playlists and everything appeared fine. I attached the ipod and held control/shift so it would not sync. I opened preferences/advanced and clicked the change button and selected the new location of the library. Everything still fine. Music plays on computer, so it is time to sync the new playlists to my ipod. When I try I get the message that a new library is found and would I like to erase the ipod and sync the new library. The problem is that the library is now empty. Anybody any idea what has happened? I do notice when checking through Windows My Music that my music files on the external hard drive are MP4 .. is this the correct format for the ipod to find them? I am now totally unable to find that library in itunes. I have unchecked the automatic sync but will want to sync to get those playlists to the ipod. Thanks.

iPods don't look for the library. iTunes does.

Don't move your music folder.
Let iTunes do it.
Point iTunes prefs to the location where you wan tit.
Then go to menu Advanced -> *Consolidate library*.
This will copy the iTunes music folder to the location in iTunes prefs.

I found Ipod nano 6th gen on the middle of a road In Finland.

Found ipod nano 6th gen 16gb graphite in the middle of a road. was little banged up from the clip side and probably been there the full 20 or so hours the battery lasts. this was at night between 15th and 16th of may.
The text was cyrillic so most likely in russian. Most of the memory had been used.
Is there anyway I can get hold of the owner? I know nothing about apple stuff and there are not much clues in the nano, nor do I know how to read russian so...

I accedently reset the settings when i tried to turn the language to finnish. (which kinda worked though).

Be advised: the Ipod nano has been delivered to police station's lost and found.
If you have lost an Ipod nano 6th in Finland around the time period mentioned above with Russian
language enabled, you should go ask about it from the nearest police station to the place the nano was lost.

Hi, i am new in Java, i got a problem when i tried to execute a java program, it showed the message below:
basename: not found
uname: not found
expr: not found
dirname: not found
can't find libjava.so.
i was run in jdk1.3 base on linux, also, i had checked my PATH and CLASSPATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH,
i found libjava.so in jdk1.3/jre/lib/i386 too
Was anyone known what those message mean?

I guess, your programme is printing something on the standard output and the linux shell is again trying to execute it.
