Found ipod touch with locked screen
I found an 8GB iPod touch with a locked pw screen.
I would like to return to owner or restore to use.
i tunes does not see the ipod when connected.
any ideas????

I opened the app "MyTown 2", and it stayed on the opening screen for about 5 minutes - WAYYY too long! So I tried to close the app. A slight grayscale sort of film "slid" down over the opening screen, and then it went to this light gray, completely blank screen. It's been that way for over an hour - no matter what I do, can't do a hard shut down, and the device is not recognized by iTunes at all. It's completely DEAD!!!! Is there any hope? Anyone have a clue?
Following the instructions in this procedure to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPod Touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Select the device in iTunes and choose "restore from backup".
If you still can't get it to work, you have done all you can and only Apple will be able to help. -
HT1212 Ipod touch with white screen
My little brother was playing my ipod and now its got millions of seconds before i can access my ipod. Now tho the screen is white with static horizontal lines going across the screen, no pictures nothing so when i plug it into itunes, itunes ask for the passcode but i cannot see anything. What should i do?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I have a 2 week old ipod touch 4 with a broken screen. Can anyone tell me if it is covered buy warranty (unlikely l know) and if not what are the costs involved in getting it fixed and are the do - it - yourself kits any good.

But you can also search the Internet for 3rd party repair, but you'll have no warranty after that by Apple anymore. -
Ipod touch with gray screen???
I accidently put my Ipod touch in the washing machine and I put it in rice like most people say to do, waited a couple days, plugged it into my laptop, the screen lit up (Didn't show the usual earth background or time at all) the screen kept changing colors then it became different shades gray and I could see some spot that I think are water but not sure. My friend said I should just wait, should I?
Message was edited by: elmsfuddIf your ipod shows try and restore it, its a long shot but worth a chance. As well apple ships back ipods made with "New and/or Refurbished parts" but there is no difference really between refurbs and new ipods, just technicalities.

Connected my son's new ipod touch 8gb and the screen came on fine. He went to download an app and now the screen is white. Did the rest with sleep/home button-apple logo comes up then goes back to white screen. Swear I am through with buying electronics on Xmas-any ideas? Thanks

I have had the newest ipod touch for a year now no problems..I was just on Facebook and the screen froze then went white with a lot of blue and green colored lines on it. It won't do anything I have tried plugging it in and holding down sleep and the home button for ten seconds but I get nothing. What should I do? Will this be covered if I take it took the apple store?

I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch. Lately the screen will not light up and also at times while typing it returns to the home screen (such as in facebook. Any suggestions?

If none of those resolve the issue (including restoring the device back to factory defaults), the backlight issue is likely hardware related, meaning you'll need to have your iPod serviced either by Apple or a third party repair company.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

i tried to soft reset my ipod touch with the top button and the screen button. it turned off and then went to the blue screen with the apple like it should. however, it now just stays on that screen. it has a sort of clock looking thing at the bottom of the apple that does not move either. it has stayed on this screen for over 4 hours. i also can not hard reset it in itunes. i am not really goood at this sort of thing. does anyone have this problem or a possible solution? thanks

Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)

My ipod touch is locked in expanded mode. I can not get to the controls. It happens everytime I do an itunes update. I have tried a soft and a hard reset which fixes the problem but then during syncing the screen expands again and locks up. Help.

how can I unlock my ipod touch? The screen is locked and has various languages on the sliding bar. the screen is grey and the normal screen saver is gone.
As a first attempt, try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons untl the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.

Does anybody know why my ipod touch 3rd generations screen does not show anything? The screen is all black constantly. When I try to synchronise my ipod with my iTunes library it comes up with a message saying " iTunes could not back up the ipod because a session could not be started with the ipod. Please help and reply if you know an answer!!!
