Found lost iPhone 4S (two factory packaged)

About roughly 1/2 a year ago, a packaged arrived at our doorstep. It was two factory iPhone 4S's in perfect packaging and everything. Since then we have been trying to work with Australia Post to try and return them to thier original owner (my dad has). They have returned the package to us twice.
Recently I have been looking at some of the details I can gather on the mobile, they are apparently locked to an operator called 'Vodafone' and both thier IMEI numbers 'have been replaced' or something of that sort.  Both are running iOS 5.1.1.
I am thinking of which step to take next? Contact Apple or contact Vodafone? Either way in the end, I just want that lady 'Kim' written on the cover to get what she has paid for.

Yes! We ended up paying for it to be sent back to the warehouse because we were just too tired of it being bounced back to us. The address was the same as listed on http://www.vodafail.com/single.php?p=15171 so it's a relief to know that we weren't the first mishap that they made. Haven't used Vodafone before so was a bit befuddled. Hopefully it won't coem back to us now.

Make up your mind. Did you find it with a SIM or without one?
Turn it in to the police. Why is this even a question?

  • I found lost iPhone but it is lock/drained now what should i do?

Yesterday after a club i found a iphone which is lock and later it off due to no battery.. now what should i do?

There must be some kind of reception or office at the club so go and just hand it in there and tell them that you found it outside the club.
Just use a little bit of initiative - how hard can it be?

  • How can i found lost iphone?

how can i find lost iphone?

Mobile Me iCloud? Yes helpful but in some conditions like,
You lost your Iphone to the hand of  not savvy theft. (dont know how to uninstall apps)
If the theft is kind and retain the apps like Find my phone, it should be connected to 3G or Wifi to be able for you to locate it.
Other than the conditions above, sorry, consider it "donation".
Hope that the Apple can make apps using IMEI instead.
    fyi I donate 2X.

  • Found lost Iphone in Orlando

Hey, I'm writing this on behalf of a coworker who had gone to Orlando on vacation. She had rented a car at AVIS and they found someone's iphone in the trunk. It was dead when they found it and had a sticker on the back of it. I contacted both AT&T and Apple but they could be of no help. It doesnt help that the lady brought it back to Ohio instead of giving it to AVIS. Anyone know of a good lost and found place for Iphones? Or if your out there and lost your phone in Orlando please contact me at [email protected] It looks like the phone is still getting service so i will leave it on my ipod charger so it can receive calls.

I am curious. If you have a iPod charger, plug it into computer with iTunes. Now sometimes iTunes won't show the phone when locked but sometimes it does (weird, I just notice this odd behavior all the time).
If it does see it then it will show it in iTunes. Now don't sync or anything, but right there in iTunes it will tell you the phone number of the phone.
    Other option, turn on phone.
Slide to unlock (yes I know you don't know the code)
    On keypad press Emergency Call.
    It will bring up Keypad.
It will allow you to call any number.
If the phone hasn't been deactivated, call yourself and get caller ID of phone.
Now you know who to call.
Oops, duh, you you have phone. But maybe get voice mail.
But first option with iTunes will still give you number even if phone has been deactivated thus the person may have a new phone with that number.

Retore the device from your iCloud or iTunes backup.

  • I have found a lost iPhone 4--how do I get it back to the owner?

    Hello Folks,
I've found a lost iPhone 4, along with a charger and some other personal effects (none of which are identifying, unfortunately).
Unfortunately, the phone ("Alyssa's Phone) was locked.  No problem, call up the service provider (Telus) with the SIM card number.  Unactivated and thus unregistered SIM card.
Okay, let's use the IMEI or serial number off the back of the SIM tray--not registered with Telus, either.
Okay, let's phone up Apple technical support: serial number no longer eligible for support!
Clearly, Apple has had some dealing with the phone--can they get in touch with the owner and let them know where they can pick up the phone?

Try to connect the MBP to your computer with Firewire-Target Disk Mode
    follow instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661
and try to find out the owners identity.
it won't work if "open firmware password" is enabled on the MBP.
Or if everything is FileVault encrypted.
It's possible it won't work without a power brick for the MBP, perhaps you can borrow one ?
You could also take out the Harddisk, and pop it in an external enclosure, but that's more effort.

  • HT1212 I found an iphone over one year ago. Its locked with a passcode. I kept waiting for the owner to call it. They never did. I went to ATT store today, they put a new sim card in it. but now itunes needs the passcode to reset it to factory settings.

I found an iphone over one year ago. Its locked with a passcode. I kept waiting for the owner to call it. They never did. I went to an AT&T store today, they put a new sim card in it. and told me to go home, log on to itunes, and restore the phone to "factory settings".But itunes says the phone is locked and it needs the passcode to reset it to factory settings.
Any workaround? Or, am I doing something wrong here?
    Thanks so much.

Sounds like you may be the owner of a new phone!  If you don't need or want it and no one claims it you probably can sell it. Check eBay to see what the going rate is.
You are to be commended for at least trying to find the owner. Many wouldn't.
    Best.

Found a lost iPhone that is locked with a passcode, how do I find the owner?

You probably will not be able to find the owner. Turn it into the police.

  • I found an Iphone 4s and it says this iphone has been lost and erased, log in as previous owner. I don't know who the previous owner is.

I found an Iphone 4 and i attempted to give it to the person who worked at the gas station but he said I dont care, just keep it. I brought it home and it suddenly returned to the setup screen. I tried setting it up to try and find the owner but it says "This IPhone was lost and erased. Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to erae this IPhone." The problem is i have no idea who this phone belongs to or how to find that person. What should i do?

Turn it over to the police, or if you can identify the carrier, to the carrier it was being used on.

My iphone was lost and was sent to lost mode after some days I found my iphone but it was disable. And now I'm not able to activate my phone. it doesn't accept the Apple ID that I used to put my phone in lost mode. How can I activate my iphone now?

    Hi Krisunita,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try using these steps to stop Lost Mode from iCloud.com:
Stop Lost Mode or change your contact info
Sign in to icloud.com/#find with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud). If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, then select the device that’s in Lost Mode.
Click Lost Mode, then change the information or click Stop Lost Mode.
You can find this information here:
    iCloud: Use Lost Mode

  • Found a lost iphone 4s

Ok Apple so I found a lost iphone 4s at wallmart so 2 weeks earlier I decided to take it to my local police station!!! And gave it to the Police so the police contacted the owner and the owner did not want the phone back ha lol how strange! So the police told me I could have it back But I have a big problem here tho...the iphone is locked threw the icloud activation threw the owners gmail... so I called the police station and asked i if i could have the owners contact the police did not insist.they said No! Apple if I take the iphone to my local apple store can they unlock the iphone 4s activate it or flash it etc.

The phone appears to have had more than one 'owner' and the police do not seem inclined to pursue the matter.  I believe only Apple security can formally unlock the phone and under these circumstances I doubt they would.  There could be all sorts of private detail within.
