Found my iPod touch after 3 months, now I can't unlock it.

I can't for the life of me remember the password, and now it says "iPod Disabled; Connect to iTunes". Now the big problem is that the computer I was syncing it to before crashed on me and I had to get a new one. iTunes won't show the iPod until I unlock it with a password. Is there anything I can do? Or did I just lose $400 down the drain?

The same thing happened to me, except my computer didnt crash so all i had to do was back up and restore my ipod. Try restarting your computer so see if itunes shows it then or maybe even reinstall itunes. Hope i was some sort of help, good luck.

Someone stole mu ipod touch, but can the thief unlock my code? Some people say it can be done by resetting it on a computer, please answer

    hosert,
They can reset it by restoring your device to factory settings via iTunes on his or her computer, but when they do that they erase all YOUR content and settings in the process.  Either way, I would change the passwords to the all the accounts you were using or had set up on that iPod.

  • HT4113 Unlocking iPod Touch after password is forgotten - can't I unlock it by entering my iTunes account information?

It seems the only way to get back in to an iPod for which the passcode is forgotten is to reset it. Surely it must be possible to unlock it and reset the passcode, like so many other things such as web sites, Android devices, accounts (such as this one!).
    <Edited by Host>

No, you have to restore the iPod. Apple/your account does not know the screen-lock passcode you assigned to the iPod.

  • I have just restored my ipod touch after being disabled.  Now it is asking for pasword, can I cancel this so I don't have to use a password?

I have just restored my ipod touch after being disabled. Now it is asking for the passcode?  I still cant remember the passcode.  How do I go past this?

You'll have connect in recovery mode and set it up "as new ipod" http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch software.
If the issue continues after updating and restoring your device, refer to this document.

  • My computer broke and I lost my ipod touch at the same time. Then I put all of my new music on my nano. Then I found my ipod touch. How do I get the music from the ipod touch to the computer and also keep the music I bought for the nano?

I have an ipod touch and an ipod nano. I also used to have a laptop but, it quit working and I no longer have it. I had all of my music on my laptop. So, I had to buy a new desktop. I lost my ipod touch at around the same time. I had all of my music on the ipod touch that was from my laptop. So in thye meantime I started using my nano more. I bought new songs on my desktop for my nano. Then I found my ipod touch. I would like to be able to keep both the somgs I have now on my ipod touch and the ones that I already bought on the desktop. What do I do?

    No.
All iTunes content on your iPod Touch should be in your iTunes library on your computer, and your iTunes library on your computer should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data - stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only.
When music was purchased on a CD, if the CD was lost and you returned to the store where the CD was purchased with your receipt, were you given a replacement CD?
    The same applies here.

  • HT201442 Just bought a brand new ipod touch a month ago and went in to iTunes. There was an update for me so I downloaded it to my ipod and then it went into recovery mode. Tried to restore it in itunes but was told this device isn't eligible.  Help!!

Just bought a new ipod touch a month ago.  Went into itunes to burn music and had an update to download which I did. Then I get a message that my ipod has gone into recovery mode. It's locked up with a black screen with iTunes logo and picture of a plugin on the screen. Tried to restore it as recommended but itunes said this device isn't eligible for the requested build. Error codes 3194 and 17. This is very frustrating considering the cost of the ipod and how new it is. Now what do I do?  Buy another one? Can anybody fix these types of things? Is this a common occurance or am I just unlucky?

Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11.1.5) Installed on your computer
    iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download
    Then...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.

  • ITunes not recognizing original IPod touch after new one installed

I tried to set up new IPod touch but itunes wouldn't recognize it. Downloaded latest version of itunes. Was able to set up new IPod touch but now old touch not being recognized by itunes. Went through the troubleshooting guide with no positive results. Old (unreconized) touch is fully charged. Restarted computer. Restarted itunes. Changes usb ports. Nothing working. Any ideas?

    Hi Jim,
Thank you for your reply to my posting about iTunes not recognizing my iPod Touch after upgrading to Leopard.
iPods & Finder. Some other postings incorrectly lead me to believe that the iPod would show up in the "Finder". Thanks for setting me straight on this.
iTunes Not Recognizing iPod Touch. Prior to your posting, I had already read the article you referenced (to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service per article "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747").
Prior to your posting, I had also read other articles in various "Apple Discussions" (forums) that suggested this recognition problem could be resolved by uninstalling/re-installing iTunes 8.0.2. Some implied that you could just re-install iTunes 8.0.2 right over the currently installed one without bothering to uninstall it.
Based on those postings, I "gambled" last night and simply downloaded and re-installed iTunes 8.0.2 (without uninstalling it first). I noticed during the installation that the Apple Mobile Device agent you referenced was also re-installed. Well, my gamble paid off! After the installation (and a reboot?), iTunes onces again RECOGNIZED my iPod Touch.

  • Cracked screen on ipod touch can't get in to it. did a back up with it and tried to put it on new ipod touch 5 and now it keeps talking and won't let me in or turn off.  how can i restore to nothing

Cracked ipod touch screen and it won't let me in or turn off.  Tried to back it up and put on new ipod touch 5 and now it's not working and doing the same thing. I tried to restore to orginal  but it won't let me any suggestions?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

When the above says to restore via iTunes, restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

Called Apple Support and spoke to 2 people who seemed baffled and who could only suggest I reset the device.  Who h has not helped.
    HELP!!!!!!!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

How do I sync my 3rd gen ipod touch after installing the latest version of itunes?

Correction: Thank you FoxFifth for the good information. I did find this information earlier before landing here in the support community. I have come to the end and I am uncertain about trying to reset my I-pod touch to the factory settings. I was satisfied with the older version of i-tunes. Can someone direct me how to downgrade i-tunes perhaps?
